Chapter Ten: New Horizons



	It's been a week since the Pensacola trip to bring Evan back.  The
staff has gathered for the usual staff meeting with four major items on the
agenda; two of which can be dealt with fairly quickly.  The remaining two
require judgment calls from other parties, but will have a deep impact on
the group as a whole.

	"We have two items on our agenda we should be able to move on
through.  First, the marketing people have sent us the proposed billboard
for approval.  The issue we are addressing here is viewing children as
assets that can be attached and sold by judgment creditors.  The underlying
theme is to make people realize we are protecting dirt, or our homes, and
sacrificing our children.  One of the proofs shows a picture of Danny on
one side and a bucket of dirt on the other side.  The second proof shows a
picture of five of the boys on one side and a bucket of dirt on the other.
Both proofs contain the same language "Our LAWS PROTECT The Bucket of DIRT
and SACRIFICE CHILDREN".  Note that the key words "laws protect dirt" and
"sacrifice children" are all upper case.  Those two phrases pretty well get
our message out.  If we approve, four of each of these billboards will be
going up through the state in major metropolitan areas.  Any comments?"

	"Daniel, I think it's good.  The sign is simple, straight forward,
easy to read, and the message clear.  Larry, are these your photos?
They're great."  Larry smiles his appreciation on the compliment.

	"If there are no other comments, we can assume these are approved
and move forward.  The second item to move through is the educational
program.  The diocese has reviewed the tests and sent over a program for
each of the boys.  As expected, we are all over the board with no one being
at required level on all subject areas.  There's three questions we need to
ask and answer: First, do we have the computer capacity to deal with this.
If not, can we get more capacity?  Second, should we consider bringing in
more tutoring help for the boys?  I've spoken with my dad at the
university.  He feels he could get the program approved for teachers in
training to do there internships; of course, that's just a suggestion at
this point.  Third, we need to work out a schedule for the boys to use the
computers and have needed study time.  This will be mandatory work with
minimal flexibility.  Rick, any ideas?'

	"We have space to install more computers.  Right now we only have
ten up and running.  That allotment was based on the younger children not
needing to use them, but this program is setup with them using the
computers.  Assuming the four and five year olds will not be involved at
this point, that leaves eighty-one kids needing computers.  With ten on
line at a time, that means each boy only gets about sixty to ninety minutes
per day.  I'm not a professional educator, but I don't think that will be
enough.  The diocese recommended time frame will require a doubling or
tripling of our capacity."

	"Suggestion.  A lot of these kids are going to be taking the same
course.  All the material is made available on line. Suppose we print the
material and make the required number of copies.  Make each boy responsible
for going through the material, giving them a specific deadline for
finishing and taking the test on line.  If they need help with the material
we will still be here.  As I understand the procedure each boy will be
given roughly the same test, but the questions may be asked in different
ways or appear in a different sequence.  If anyone tries to get cute with
the answers, they'll be caught."

	"If no one sees any problems with the idea we'll ask Mark and Paul
to construct a spread sheet that will tell us the required data and move
forward.  Also, we will need a schedule for the boys.
	The schedule will be affected some by their other duties.  Moving
into the really hot part of the year it would probably be best to keep the
boys in, or at least out of the fields, between say 10:30 or 11:00 and
3:00.  I'll let the schedulers address that issue.  Note the program calls
for physical education or calisthenics; Mark, that will be your area as
coordinator and leader.  Almost, forgot, the diocese will be sending a
priest here at the end of next week to minister to the boys.  The bishop is
supposed to send a letter the first of the week outlining the program for
the boys.  So, we need to announce that the next time we have them all
gathered somewhere."

	"Now to one of our more serious subjects.  All of you have a copy
of the last draft of the proposed rules for review with DCF.  Note we have
added pictures and medical reports on both TJ and Evan.  We've also added
stats and graphs on boys' average height and weight.  This data is to
support the data Michael provided to show that for a grown man to attempt
to penetrate any boy below the age of fourteen and a half, there is a high
probability of internal injury.  We are still making the argument these
boys should not be subject to these so-called 'pleasure calls' and have
included both medical evidence and legal argument to support this.  This
additional data is to give us some negotiating leverage if we have to go to
that.  This has to go out this week; I'll do a personal presentation and
argument in two weeks."

	"Daniel, no one can ever say you give up easily.  Are you satisfied
with the material here?"

	"If I ever gave up we wouldn't be here now.  Remember there are
those that said this could never be done.  I'm not totally satisfied, but
only because we can't get a court case that says 'pleasure calls' are
totally illegal.  Otherwise, I believe this is the best we can hope for.
Any comments?"

	"Daniel, have you passed this by any of your contacts at the
capital?"

	"Everyone is saying the same thing.  They hope we get what we are
asking for, but it's such a hot political topic no one wants to jump on the
wagon.  My personal feeling is if we don't get the exemption then we should
approach it the way we are the child for payment of debt topic.  We'll
campaign for public opinion to pressure the law makers or DCF.  That's what
really bothers me here, there is no law that says you can do this, but
there is no law that says you can't either.  If we are forced to go to the
ublic we will push for a law forbidding the practice.  If everyone has had
a chance to review this and has no suggestions, we'll go ahead and ship it
out."

	:"Last item ^Ö Evan.  He's giving me a lot of trouble.  When that
alarm sounded letting us know we had a signal and then the phone rang, I
was one of the happiest and most relieved people around.  When the doctor
told us the extent of his injuries and the pain he was in, I felt bad.
Something happened on the way over there.  I started thinking about the
four boys in the infirmary right now. One is so innocent he still doesn't
understand why we are putting him through this.  He even asked his mentor
what he did wrong and we can't get him to understand he didn't do anything
wrong.  So why are we putting him through this?  The other three are
enduring the treatment with no real complaints.  We have sixteen volunteers
sitting with them round the clock cleaning up after them and tending them;
no complaints from them.  Then we have Evan who does nothing but whimper.
When we got to the vet's office and went in, I felt sorry for him but was
mad at him at the same time.  I wanted to tell him everything would be okay
and work out, but I couldn't.  First thing he did was grab Randy and start
crying; that I understood.  Then he looked at me and started whimpering; I
know he wanted reassurance, but sometime he needs to learn to accept some
responsibility for his actions and think of the affect on others..  What I
really wanted to do when I went in was take him over my knee and blister
his bottom till he couldn't sit down for a month.  After I saw how bad he
was hurt, I couldn't."

Most of the guys are sitting at the table smiling; they know why, but
Daniel won't admit it.  "Daniel, everyone knows Evan's starting to get
under your skin.  At one point you were ready to kick him out, but you
brought him back.  You view him as being as much of a victim as he is the
culprit.  He needs help and you can't say no.  Listen, everyone here knows
Danny has you wrapped around his little finger.  When you go into the
dining hall or outside you automatically look for him.  When he sees you he
comes running.  You pick him up and when you sit down he likes to straddle
your lap.  When he does you start scratching his butt, then he purrs and
melts into you.  He's young, he's innocent, he needs someone to look out
for him ^Ö it's you.  Sean is pretty much always your shadow.  If he wasn't
so big he'd let you pick him up He still looks for excuses to get in your
lap, and you do the same thing with him.  He may not straddle your lap, but
he finds ways to park his butt in your palm and you scratch his butt for
him; he melts into you.  Sean has health issues and needs special care ^Ö
it's you.  Now, we have Evan.  I heard the tape of when you were having the
talk with Evan, Randy and the rest of them.  Evan's always lived in a
fantasy world; he's always been indulged and protected because he's a pussy
boy.  Was that right?  Of course not.  He ran off because someone promised
him the security of the world he knew.  He's too damn naïve to know
predators are constantly looking for kids like him.  He was offered
security he was familiar with as opposed to the real world he didn't know
how to deal with.  He needs help and someone needs to be there ^Ö it's you.
You're a soft touch for any kid in trouble; so, what else is new?"

"Michael, have I ever told you you're a wise ass sometimes?  I didn't know
I was that easy to read.  You're right, I feel bad for the boy.  But the
fact is, he needs to learn a lesson.  These boys are still upset with him,
even after him being back for a week.  When you check him today, if he's
able to move around I'm going to let the review board the boys formed sit
in judgment on him.  He'll have a chance to tell his side.  Randy has
allowed me to let the board hear the tapes from our interview.  The board
has also given their recommendations on punishment conditioned on nothing
new coming out at the hearing.  All I can say is I wouldn't want these guys
getting upset with me; they can be mean."

"Daniel, have you seen Evan since we came back?  You know he was pretty
upset when we left Pensacola because you wouldn't speak to him.  I think he
would have welcomed a tirade as long as you spoke.  Randy and TJ have done
a good job taking care of him while he's laid up, but he won't move forward
until he hears from you.  Doctor's advice, speak to the boy for his and
your well being; remember, he is just a kid."

"One of the problems about keeping friends around a long time is they learn
your soft spots and how to push the buttons.  Michael, let's check on the
boys in the infirmary, I think they are scheduled to get out tomorrow.
Then we'll walk over for you to check Evan and I'll go with you^Å^Å..and
stop grinning so."


Jonathan is feeding Brad a bowl of soup.  Both boys smile as Daniel and
Michael walk in.  Erik and Donny are eating their soup, but feeding
themselves.  Roger is helping Wayne with a personal matter; Wayne's soup is
waiting on him.  Roger and Brian are on sitting duty; John is with Brian.
They all look over and acknowledge Daniel and Michael walking in.  Roger
tells Daniel the other three let it be known they were big enough to feed
themselves.  Michael walks over to check the vital stats log on each boy.

"Guys, it'll be time for another shot in about half an hour.  I'll let you
enjoy your soup first.  Tomorrow is the last day for shots and we should be
able to get you out of here late in the afternoon.  That does not mean you
can run around like wild indians.  You will be on restricted activity, but
you will be out of here for five days.  Before you leave we will take more
blood samples.  The five-day break is to give your bodies a chance to build
strength and adjust to the medication.  I know it hasn't been fun but look
at the alternative.  After five days you come back and we do this for seven
more days.  Now don't look so dejected.  With a little luck you will be
cured and shouldn't have to repeat this again unless you screw up
somewhere.  When you leave your legs will feel like rubber, that's from
being in these beds for so long.  We will have two guys here for each of
you to make sure you don't fall.  If you feel up to it maybe we can let you
sit out by the pool for a little while before going to the dorm"

'The DORM??...Dr. Mike, that's all we've done for nine days is be in bed.
They won't even let us get up to go to the bathroom.  Do you know what's
its like laying here and asking someone to help you piss or take a dump?
Me, I can't wait to take a nice long shower."

"I know, Erik, but, believe me, you will feel weak getting out of that bed.
You've all been given bed baths (the boys look surprised)..it was done
while you were out under the medication, you never knew and couldn't
complain.  You want a shower, that can be arranged but the boys who help
you out of here will be with you.  Brad, I imagine Jonathan can handle you
by himself."  Brad just beams, he's just happy to be getting out.  "I'll
tell you what, each of you lets the guys know what you would like to have
for supper tomorrow night and I'll ask Mr. Barry to get it for you.  These
will be meals prepared just for you four, okay?"



Evan is sitting up in his bed eating a bowl of soup.  Randy and TJ with
Kyle, of course, are eating the same with a half sandwich.  As Michael and
Daniel walk in Evan gets a look of anticipation on his face.  He wants
Daniel to say something to him, but is almost afraid he will say something.
Michael stops near the bed while Daniel continues over to Kyle.

"Mr. Dan'l?."  Evan's voice shakes as he tries to get Daniel to acknowledge
him.

"Kyle, are you doing your job?"  Kyle beams, showing a smile as only a
seven year old can.

:"Mr. Dan'l?...Sir^Å.Please don't hate me^Å."  There's no mistaking the
pleading in the boy's voice.  Daniel finally turns to him and then steps
over to sit on the edge of his bed.  The boy is looking at him with tear
filled pleading eyes.

"Evan, I don't hate you.  I've never hated you.  I am still upset with you,
but I don't hate you.  You know you still have to answer for what you did,
don't you?"

"Yes, sir, I know.  I'm sorry, I really didn't mean^Å."

"I've already told you Evan I'm not the one you need to apologize to.  With
me, you betrayed a trust I placed in you.  With the other boys, you
threatened their security and their futures.  I feel bad for you, I really
do, but you will not be answering to me, you will answer to the other boys.
A board of your peers has been formed; they will pass judgment and
punishment."  Evan looks at Daniel with a puzzled expression.  "Evan you
need to understand that for a week the number one activity around here was
to find you.  That first morning these boys were running all over these
grounds thinking maybe you were hurt somewhere.  They never dreamed until
later that you would run away. Those boys helped organize the search for
you.  When Dr. Andrews removed that collar, we could pick up the signal
again; Mr. Paul had rigged an alarm to sound over the intercom system.
When that alarm sounded every boy in this place ran to the office.  The
phone rang and it was placed on the speaker phone, every boy strained to
find out if you were okay.  You had a lot of friends here.  Friends that
really cared about you.  Those same friends feel that you betrayed them;
now you must answer to them."  The look in Evan's eyes is getting to
Daniel.  He knows the boy is more interested in having Daniel hold him and
let him know things can work out.  Daniel does reach for the boy who falls
into Daniel and cries.  Letting the boy cry some of it out, Daniel begins
to talk to him soothingly.  "Evan, things can work out, but it's up to you.
You've made some bad choices.  Now you must decide whether you are willing
to face the consequences and then move on.  The boys aren't going to be
cruel, but they are going to make it clear to you they will not tolerate
this kind of behavior.  When they convene they will ask you some questions
and give you a chance to state your case.  How you do that will have a big
effect on the punishment.  When they state the punishment you must say to
them that you accept or reject.  I caution you to think very carefully
about what you say and how you say it.  There will be no need to rush.
Once sentence is imposed there is no turning back, so make sure of your
choices."  Michael has handed Daniel some tissue that Daniel uses to wipe
the boy's face.  Daniel then moves to let Michael check the boy's leg.  As
Michael moves to the boy Evan looks pleadingly to his brother; Randy sits
there and goes back to his soup.

"Daniel, before I can determine when he can move, I'll need an x-ray; we
can use the portable unit in the infirmary."  Randy heads to the infirmary
to retrieve the machine and is back within ten minutes.  Daniel has been
sitting talking with all the boys and trying to get Evan to relax a little.
While Daniel talks with the boys Michael has Evan roll over so he can
inspect his damaged anus.

The x-ray reveals the cast can be replaced and the boy will be ambulatory
with crutches.  The damage done to the anus is healing and should continue
that way so long as it's kept clean and the ointments applied.  Daniel
tells Evan the review board will be called for the next morning.



"Evan, are you prepared to hear the opinion and judgment of this review
board; if so, you are to stand now."  Evan is shaking so badly he can
hardly get the crutches under his arms to stand.  Tears are forming but he
fights them.  "When the board has read its opinion and recited your options
for punishment you must verbally accept or reject the options when asked.
Do you understand?"  Evan nods while whispering yes.  "This board concludes
that you did leave this facility without permission and without
consideration for the consequences to your peers.  The action was based on
your own self interest without regard to the interest of others.  Your
actions violated a sacred trust given to you by the administration of this
facility and the participants in the New Horizon project.  This violation
of trust evidences your lack of respect for those attempting to help and
support you to have a better future.  This action and previous actions on
your part which have been documented during the course of this review
reflect a person who prefers to be cared for by another; not only wanting,
but expecting the other party or parties to make all decisions and accept
full responsibility for those actions.  In other words, you are a person
who enjoys having a master."  Evan wants to interrupt to say something but
Kevin, who chairs this review board stops him.  "You will not interrupt
this board; you have been given the opportunity to speak on your behalf.
We are reading the opinion of this board which is not open to your
comments.  Any more attempts to interrupt will be considered disrespectful
of the board and those it represents."  "In reviewing the records, and
after discussing matters with individuals with whom you had previously
worked and lived, the board recognizes there are certain extenuating
circumstances.  These circumstances have been given consideration and the
punishment adjusted accordingly.  The adjustments will be noted as we
address each item.  Further, this board believes you have suffered and
continue to suffer extreme discomfort and physical pain from your
experience.  There is no single physical punishment that would be
appropriate or constructive in this instance.  The board is very much
disturbed that when you were asked why you did what you did, and whether
you learned anything from this, you did not answer.  What you did was tell
us what happened to you, but not the why and lesson learned.  This has been
taken into consideration in your punishment.  It is the judgment of this
court that you, Evan, are not capable of making positive decisions
affecting your life.  Evidence shows decisions made by you have a negative
effect on you and other parties around you.  It is clear that you are in
need of someone to give you guidance and control your life.  This board is
prepared to satisfy that need to the extent that you will no longer
represent the threat to yourself or those around you.  Therefore, it is the
judgment and recommendation of this board that you, Evan, be indentured as
a slave.  How and to what extent this is effective will be your choice."

"NOOOOO1!!! NOOOOO!!!....Mr. Dan'l^Åplease, don't ^Å.^Å' the boy has broken
into hysterics.  Randy and TJ move to his side to support him.  Daniel now
walks up to the boy and motions for a glass of water.

"Evan^Å.Evan^Ålook at me."  The boy looks up sobbing almost uncontrollably
and looking forever lost.  "Evan, tell me what Kevin just said to you."

"I'm a slave, Mr. Dan'l^Å..they're going to enslave me^Å.pleeeease.."

"Evan, what else did he say to you?  What else did he say?"  Evan looks
puzzled.  "That's what I thought.  You've heard something you don't like
and blocked everything else out.  Drink some of this water, then stand up
and ask him to repeat what he said."  Evan takes a sip and after a few
sniffles tries standing straight up.  Daniel motions for the two boys to
stay near him.  Randy is ready to break himself because of what his brother
is having to endure.

"Please, sir, would you repeat what you said?"

"It is the judgment and recommendation of this board that you, Evan, be
indentured as a slave.  How and to what extent this is effective will be
your choice.  Do you understand what I have just said?"

Evan looks puzzled and both nods and shakes his head.

"Do you understand this board recommends that you be indentured as a
slave?"  Evan nods.  'Do you understand that how that is done, where that
is done, when that is done, and how it is reversed is up to you?"  Evan
shakes his head. "Okay, I'm going to read you two choices on how you become
a slave.  Which choice you make will determine how, when, where and for how
long.  Understand?"  Evan nods.

"Choice #1: You will be expelled as a member of New Horizon and this
compound.  The state will be notified of your expulsion so they may
transport you to the slave auction for sale to the highest bidder.  You
will be a slave for life with someone else to make all the decisions for
you.

Choice #2: This choice is based on the old NEWDD: Taking Back Control
program used on juveniles before the age of permanent indenture was lowered
to six years.  The board has reviewed the program and believes its goals
and guidelines could be very beneficial in this case.  The program dealt
with kids who were out of control, making bad decisions for themselves and
their families.  In many instances the kids had tried taking control of the
family and home, thus the program name.  Also included were kids classified
as incorrigible.  The program used physical punishment, humiliation and
embarrassment to bring these kids under control and teach them to
appreciate what was happening around them and how their decisions affected
others.  A primary tool was requiring the child to follow slave
restrictions, even within their own home, and was not allowed to wear any
clothing ever.  Back then kids were not allowed to run naked as they are
today.  The program is largely responsible for the law allowing kids under
fifteen to go naked.  Another tool was administering physical punishment in
public.  This punishment included paddling, caning, whips, and public
masturbation with the assistance of an electronic dildo.  If you read up on
the program you will find the punishments were often brutal and physically
taxing.  That's one of the reasons it was closed.  After reviewing what we
believe to be the positive and negative terms of the program, the following
conditions are imposed: 1.  You will be indentured within New Horizon and
this compound 2. You will follow modified slave etiquette.  That is, all
staff personnel shall be address as 'sir', when speaking with your former
peers you will begin each response with that person's name.  You will not
address anyone without permission.  3.  You are hereby stripped of all
rights and privileges enjoyed by the members of New Horizon, including your
name.  You will henceforth be known simply as "Boy" until such time as it
is determined you have earned the privilege of being recognized as part of
New Horizon.  4.  You are to wear this collar which as Mr. Daniel once
noted, if you see this come out you know you are in deep shit.  Evan, you
are in about as deep as you can get.  We found out that you have gone naked
most of your life and do not like wearing clothes.  It was suggested that
we dress you in flannel for the period of indenture, realizing you would
hate that, but we see no constructive reason to do this.  Therefore, you
will be allowed to remain naked except for this collar.  However, remember,
most of us regard this as a privilege.  We remember when we were allowed to
shower and clean ourselves then discard the clothing that was the remnants
of our old way of life.  That shower gave us a clean beginning and we are
not ashamed to go anywhere naked as New Horizon boys.  5.  You will not be
allowed to feel the pleasure of any form of personal sexual gratification.
As with all slaves, if someone on site requests relief from or with you,
you will be obligated to follow their wishes; however, you may not receive
any form of gratification.  This condition shall be absolute for a minimum
period of two weeks and up to the time this punishment is terminated.
After the initial two week period you must ask permission of your mentor
before seeking any such relief.  The purpose of this condition is to assure
you do not inadvertently slip back to old habits.  6.  You will pursue the
educational course designed for you.  On all tests you are to receive a
grade of 'B' or better or repeat the test.  Tutors are available for
assistance.  7.  A psychologist will be brought in two or three times a
week.  You will meet with that person and seek assistance to improve
yourself.  8.  Your day to day mentor will be Mr. Mark who has volunteered
to help you.  Assisting Mr. Mark are TJ and Randy who will be with you at
all times.  Should you violate any rules TJ and Randy are charged on their
honor to record the violations and report them on your day of punishment.
9.  Punishment shall be administered on this day, Wednesday, of each week
at 10:00AM, beginning today should you make this choice.  Minimum
punishment shall be two strong swats with the medium paddle.  The maximum
number of swats administered in any week shall not exceed ten.  If you
accumulate more than the maximum the surplus extends to the following week.
This punishment can not end with unadministered swats.  Simply stated,
don't build up too many or you'll never get out of this.  You will be given
the choice of receiving two hand swats in place of one paddle swat ^Ö your
option.  10. For the two weeks, you will not be allowed to sit with the
rest of the group during meals.  You must sit off by yourself unless
someone, of their own volition, chooses to sit with you.  11.  These
conditions may be modified on any Wednesday review period on the
recommendation of Mr. Mark.

Evan, it is the sincere hope of everyone here that you make the right
choice and we will again one day soon call you brother.  You need to take a
few minutes to consider your choice.  Whatever the choice, it will be
final."

Evan looks to his brother with that 'help' expression and then to Daniel.
Both maintain an expressionless posture.  This is a choice which Evan must
make for himself, his first to gaining some maturity.  "Sir, I accept
Choice #2^Åand^Å.and, sir, thank you for letting me to stay."

"Will the person whose name was drawn to administer the punishment please
step forward."  It's Brian.  "Brian, this is your cousin, you can be
excused from this."

"No, I think I was partially responsible for this.  My name was drawn
fairly, it wouldn't be fair to ask another boy to have to do this."

"Very well.  You are to attach the collar with the chain hanging down the
front then administer two strong swats with the medium paddle.  The swats
should let him know you mean it but not be brutal.  The cheeks should be
pink when you finish.  When this is done Boy is to report Mr. Mark. "  The
collar is attached.  Randy and TJ bend Boy over and help him balance on the
crutches.

Whack!  Evan whimpers. Whack! Evan whimpers, tears roll down his cheek not
from the pain, but the humiliation of being paddled in public and knowing
his life has now forever changed.



The following Tuesday morning, the weekly staff meeting convenes.

"Good morning.  Nothing crucial this morning, but there are several
projects I think we all would like to be brought up to date on including
the computers, the home schooling schedule, the garden, Evan, the boys in
the infirmary, and I do have a letter from the bishop I'd like to share
with you at the end, oh, plus the upcoming trip to Tallahassee.  Rick what
do you have for us on the computers and the garden?"

"The computers are being used according to a signup sheet.  The boys sign
up reserving time blocks.  There's no doubt we'll need to add more.  The
calls have been made to some of our corporate sponsors and we should be
able to double capacity within the next two or three weeks.  The
programming has also been modified to restrict access to some of the sites
and restrict time on line for other sites.  We have the ability to check
use whenever we want.  Hopefully, this will help avoid predatory issues in
the future.  The vegetable gardens are well under way.  We currently have
two gardens fully planted and a third scheduled for tilling this afternoon.
The first garden is all salad items.  The second is some salad with
broccoli and corn added.  The older boys are using the tilling machines for
the initial work and then we have work crews assigned for the small stuff.
Some of the boys seem to enjoy working in the garden and have natural green
thumbs.  We hope to have the third garden planted next week.  The third
garden will be a number of orange trees that have been donated.  When
completed, the three gardens will cover about two and a half acres."

"Good, I think the boys will enjoy eating something they grew themselves.
Hopefully it will help give them a degree of confidence.  What about the
educational programs, Paul?"

"The boys are working on their initial assignments.  First set of tests
should be the end of next week.  For the little guys, we have twelve who
should have been in kindergarten or first grade; they have been set in one
class and are being taught by Roger and Kevin.  Their lessons are primarily
the letters, colors, animals, and basic numbers.  It's interesting to watch
them; I don't know who's enjoying it more, the students or the teachers.
The first set of tests should give us an idea of how the program is
working."

"Okay, let's keep our fingers crossed.  Has anyone been getting any
questions regarding tutors?"

Mark speaks up, "Most of the boys come to us or ask another boy.  So far I
haven't heard anything negative, but agree with Paul, next week's tests
will tell us a lot.  I've set up an exercise program following the
educational guidelines.  Primarily, we spend about thirty minutes each day
doing calisthenics.  The boys also have time to play soccer and swim;
altogether we are in compliance there.  I make sure to spend some time with
Evan, or "Boy", two or three times each day.  For a kid that acted so dumb,
he's soaking up these books like a dry sponge.  If you saw his test scores
I think you'll understand why he was afraid he done so poorly ^Ö he did.
Evidently, the family didn't place education as a high priority for him,
but he's trying to make up for lost time now.  He and TJ seem to be
spending a lot of time together.  Of course, it's not unusual when I check
on them I also find Kyle in there looking for some of TJ's time.  I think
TJ and "Boy" are becoming friends and little Kyle may have a case of
jealousy; it'll be interesting to see how this works out.  As far as his
punishment goes, he's got an extra swat coming tomorrow.  He knows it and
knows why.  He addressed someone without first asking permission and then
didn't address them correctly the first time.  When he was corrected on the
asking permission he got that right the second time but still messed up on
how to address someone.  He seems to be more concerned about who's going to
administer the swats and how hard they hit."  Everyone smiles some ".. it's
a normal concern."

"Well, I just hope "Boy" keeps a straight line.  I'm surprised he only has
one added on this first week; but I guess you can't go out and get in much
trouble with that cast.  I have other news.  The bishop and I had a long
talk about the boys.  I expressed to him the boys' concern over being naked
with the priest coming.  He has sent me a letter that addresses the
educational program, the church's support for what we are doing, and
includes a section he wants read to the boys:

Regarding the concerns of your young charges of appearing natural before
the Agents of Christ.  They should be reminded that man was created in the
image of God, the first such being Adam.  When the Creator placed Adam on
this earth, Adam was naked, but God looked down and saw what he had done
was good.  They should also view the images painted on the walls and
ceilings of some of the grandest churches and cathedrals in the world.
Youth are almost always presented in the nude which is regarded as the most
natural and purest form of innocence.  We suggest your charges review the
ceilings of the Sistine Chapel and note the Cherubs.  Also note man in "The
Creation" is nude and Man, including the Christ child, is often depicted
nude in statuary.  Nudity is innocence and purity of heart in its most
basic form.  This innocence can only be blemished by sin.  Society has
determined that as we grow older we are covered in sin and therefore must
cover our innocence.  Your charges represent the greatest of all of God's
gifts ^Ö children, new life, and new hope.  We hope you will allow them to
remain pure for as long as possible.  We acknowledge your charges may have
engaged in activities they may be reluctant to publish.  These activities
were not for an evil purpose, but to protect younger ones and survive.  The
priests will minister to your charges this weekend.  When each boy has
shown his heart to be pure the priest will minister the Rite of Absolution
and the Sacrament of Penance, absolving them of sin and placing them in the
light and protection of the Father.  We will be honored to receive God's
children as He created them.

I'm hoping this will put them at ease.  Just For your information, there
will be two priests here for a day and a half.  These are the priest that
minister to the residents of the nudist camps to the north and west of us.
Also, I like the way he referred to the nude children as Cherubs.  That
might be a good name for our good will ambassadors, and as I recall we once
applied that term to Danny.

Next week, the personal presentation has to be made to DCF regarding our
rules proposal.  Mark, I'd like for you to travel with me.  I'd also like
to take TJ and "Boy" since it's their pictures and reports we have built in
to the presentation.  I'll leave it up to you and Michael as to whether
Randy should go with "Boy".  Personally, I'd like to see how the boy does
without his brother around.  We will not make any changes regarding his
punishment.  However, since we are going to the capital, they should have
some clothes.  I don't want anyone seeing them naked and challenging them
as slaves; this trip will be tense enough.  If we don't have the chance
prior to leaving, we'll stop and get them some shorts, shirt and sandals.
The presentation is scheduled for Thursday, I'd like to leave here by
mid-morning on Wednesday.  We'll drive over and plan on staying two nights.
Mark, you know when you leave here you are supposed to have the anklet.  We
have permission to give you the chip like the boys have instead, it's not
as noticeable.  If you choose that Michael can take care of it.  Just don't
leave here without one or the other."


TJ is helping "Boy" get into the van.  Rick and Mark bought both boys some
shorts and shirts over the weekend, but those are kept in a bag until
needed to protect them against getting dirty before the presentation.  The
boys have spent so much time naked that they don't care if they wear
clothes or not, particularly after the way the priests received them over
the weekend.  Daniel knows that if he could be sure no one would bother
them he would let them stay that way all the time on the trip.  When he
looks at them he does think of Cherubs, the New Horizon Cherubs.  "Boys"
pink butt though reminds him they aren't perfect.

"'Boy', I see you arranged to honor your appointment this morning."

"Yes sir, I saw Kevin and told him we had to leave and asked if we could
get it done early.  He said they could wait till we got back, but I
reminded him the punishment order said every Wednesday and I wanted to make
sure I did what I was supposed to.  There wasn't anybody to do it so he
gave me the swats just before we got here."

"How many?"

"Three sir, seem to be stuck on that, same problem, too.  But Kevin didn't
really make them hard.  They stung some but only hurt a little."

"You're doing fine Evan, just keep going like you are and it shouldn't be
much longer."

"Sir, thank you,..and^Åthank you for calling me Evan."

Mark's in the van.  All luggage is loaded and Barry has packed them a
lunch.  A little after noon they stop at a rest area and decide it's time
for a picnic lunch.  Everyone unloads except "Boy".  When Mark asks TJ why
"Boy" isn't getting out, TJ gives the sign of a stiff finger.
Understanding, Mark returns to the van and tells "Boy" not to worry he can
cure the situation.  Mark then dumps a handful of crushed ice into "Boys'
crotch.

"YYYYYYIIIIIIIIIIPPPPEEEEESSS!!!......that's cold!!!!"  a shocked "Boy"
cries out.

"Did it do the trick?"  asks Mark.  Evan nods and exits the van.

On the way Daniel explains to the boys what the presentation is about and
why he chose them to come along.  Both boys understand and know they may
have to answer some questions.  Daniel also explains to "Boy" that he would
like for him to assist with a project.  Since both boys know why they are
here Daniel tells them about the ambassadors and how he wants to present
them.  :"Boy" could be a great help if he would draw sketches of three or
four boys and the outfits Daniel wants them to have.  "Boy" is happy
someone is asking him to work with them.

When they reach the motel, Daniel asks for adjoining rooms on the ground
floor.  After getting the boys inside Daniel lets TJ know he can go swim if
he wants.

"Thank you sir, but if Evan..er, "Boy" can't go with me, it's no fun
alone."

"That's okay TJ, I don't think Mark will write anything up if you refer to
"Boy" by his rightful name once in a while; just remember, it's "Boy" for a
reason.  Now, I thought I would have one room and Mark will take the other.
One of you boys can stay here, the other with Mark.  It'll be your choice."

Evan sits in a club chair with his hands crossed over his lap.  The look on
his face tells Daniel and Mark he wants to ask something but hasn't figured
out the right time.  After a few minutes, Daniel steps into the adjoining
room. Boy's eyes following him says this is what the boy has been waiting
on.

"Uhhh, sir,, Mr. Mark?......uhhhh, sir, can I ask you something?"  Mark
turns and looks at the boy.  'Well, sir, you know the punishment order said
two weeks and, well, uhhh, sir, you know that problem I had at lunch today?
Well, it's happening more and more, and, well, sir, I was wondering^Å^Å^Å"

"Yes, Boy, what were you wondering^Å."  This was cruel and Mark knew it,
but couldn't resist.

"Sir, Mr. Mark, sir, well, sir, I'm just so horny I can't stand it^Å..sir."
and Mark just busts out laughing.

"Boy, are you asking me to do something about it?"

"Oh, NO SIR!, I wouldn't do that sir.  The punishment said I had to ask you
before I could get any relief; and, I swear sir, I haven't done anything I
wasn't supposed to, honest.  Ask Randy and TJ, they've been with me."

"Easy, Boy, I know it's been more like three weeks, and that can be a long
time for a boy your age.  I'm just playing with you some.  Is there
anything special you're wanting from me or what? Any special plans on^Å."
Boy looks over towards TJ, "^Å.ohhh, I see.  Have you and TJ become good
friends?"

"Sir, kinda.  He's been good to me and for me.  We sit and talk a lot.  I
never knew that the way I lived was so different than other guys.  I guess
my dad and brothers kinda kept me in a different world.  But TJ and me, we
been talking a lot and well, I just wish I had known him long before now.
We're just getting to be good friends, but you know^Å. we could enjoy the
other's company some, too, and it wouldn't hurt nobody."

"Boy, let me talk to Daniel and he and I can go out for dinner and offer to
bring back hamburgers for the two of you.  If we stay gone for, say, about
an hour, would that be enough?"

"Boy's eyes really light up with that one.  "YES SIR!!!, That'd be great.
Sir, you don't think Mr. Daniel would object do you?"

 "Boy, remember, the review board placed you in my care, it's my decision.
Do you want me to tell TJ, or^Å"

"Sir, maybe you should say something.  He says he's been placed on his
honor and can't do anything regardless of how much he wants to."

When it's time for supper Mark gets Daniel's attention and makes an excuse
about the boys staying in the room so they don't mess up their clothes, and
that he and Daniel will bring them back a burger and fries.  When Daniel
looks at Mark with that questioning expression Mark just motions him to the
door.  Mark then tells TJ they will be back in about an hour in the event
there may be some game the two boys want to play.  Mark stares at TJ until
he sees the light come on in his head.  Mark explains to Daniel about the
conversation he had with Boy.  When they return with a burger, fries and
shake for each boy both men know as soon as they enter that the boys must
have enjoyed themselves.  The room smells like boy sex and both boys have
grins on their faces from ear to ear and are acting like the adolescents
they are.  After eating, the boys plop down on one of the beds to watch
some television.  It isn't long before they fall asleep.  Daniel and Mark
turn the lights and tv off and place a light blanket over the boys, leaving
them where they fell.

Daniel and Mark then go to the other room, closing the door most of the way
to possibly enjoy themselves a little.

During the night the boys wake up and decide to play a little more.  Daniel
and Mark hear them, but decide to not hear them.  There just boys being
boys.
