A Life of Its own Part 5

Recap

Pete's Dad had just heard him call him a Bastard and saw him and Josh
holding hands and had started screaming blue murder at them, They had run a
fast as they could and Pete's mobile had just rung with his Mum wanting to
meet and talk...

Story

I just had had hung Josh tight to me as I heard what he was saying, Josh
put his arms round me and held me tight to him. I'm not sure how long we
stayed interlocked in our embrace or how many people may of passed and
looked at us wondering what was happening, in fact I didn't care.

We slowly released our embrace and Josh was first to speak "Come on let's
get back Home, my parents will need to know what has happened" I said
nothing just took his hand and let him lead me towards his house.

We must of looked a sight because as soon as we got in his front door, his
mother was all over us, "What's happened, what's with all the tears, your
eyes are so red", This caused me to notice how streaked Josh's face was and
blood shot his eyes were... I hadn't even realise he had been crying, all
this time I had been in my own world, thinking he was the strong rock for
me to cling too. I looked up at his Mum and burst into tears again as I
said "It's my Dad.. he knows" She looked at us both and called for Callum,
Josh's Dad, as she did this she pulled us both into the lounge and onto the
sofa. Josh so far hadn't spoken and didn't register any change in
emotions. Once Callum was in the room, he sat in next to us and Josh's Mum
got up saying something about getting drinks.  Callum smoothed his son's
cheek while looking at me and asking "Pete, tell me what happened, slowly
just take your time"

I slowly breathed in, as I started to explain about how we had got to my
house, to be greeted by my Mum asking where I had been and why I hadn't let
her know where I was, she didn't seem to be mad just concerned... It's was
as if my Dad hadn't told her he asked me to give them some space for the
night. Then he just started shouting at me, calling me a waste of space and
ungrateful.. "Josh was great he stopped me doing anything stupid in
reaction" I then explained how we had told my mother I would be at Josh's
again tonight before going to collect stuff from my room. I looked at Josh
and said "Sorry, it's all my fault, he just got to me.." Callum looked at
me seeking an explaination about what I meant..  I looked at him
"Well... as we stepped out the house I called laters to my Mum, and
slamming the door I shouted Bye you Bastard at my father... I didn't think
he would hear it over the door" Callum just waited, "OK, so me and Josh
held hands as we exited the drive, that's when it happened.. Dad must of
heard me call him a bastard as he was looking out the window shouting at
me.."  "Then we heard him go bollistick and shout faggots and stuff, we
didn't wait around we just ran" Josh finish the story, ahh Josh was back
again, I held his hand tight.

"Ok Boys, so he reacted to you being rude to him, he saw you holding
hands... How do you know that he knows about you being gay" "Dad you
weren't there... he knows, anyway he didn't sound in any mood to talk" Josh
spoke again "as we stopped running Pete's mobile was ringing, I answered
it.. It was his mum, she sounded very shaken as she spoke saying we needed
to talk" I looked at Josh he hadn't said how upset my mum had sounded
earlier "Sorry Pete, didn't think you needed to know that earlier, on top
of everything else" he answered my unspoken question as if he had read my
mind.

Callum looked at us and started to speak "Well I think we need to meet your
mum today... Think the coffee shop at the beach should work, I'll go with
you guys, Josh you need to support Pete with his mum..ok" We just looked at
each other then at his dad as we both said "Ok but you'll be there right"

"Yes, yes of course I just said so, know you better call her and arrange to
meet in about an hour"

I agreed and called my mum and arranged to meet her at the beach in an
hour, after I got off the phone Callum suggested that we should go freshen
up a bit as we looked a state.

Me and Josh are seated at the tables outside just near the cafe doors, with
Josh's dad down on the beach able to see us. We sit quietly sipping our
lattes waiting for my mum to arrive. I see her arrive and look straight
over to Josh who, sees my tension and grabs my right hand. My mum walks
over to the table and leans over to hug me and sit down

"Boys I'm not sure what's going on but your father is shouting the house
down calling you all sorts of names.... Something about gay faggots" we
both look at each other than at my mum "Mum, I... I am gay.. yes... so is
Josh... I luv him" Josh just looks into my eyes then at my mum "I luv your
son, I really do" "I'm glad to hear that Josh, cause Pete is going to need
you" we both look at each other at this point and Josh turn towards his dad
to call him over. Callum comes over to the table sits and introduces
himself.  My mother speaks again "Well I hate to be the bearer of bad news,
but although I will always try and support you, your father is... well he's
your father..."  I understand but looking at Josh and his dad's face they
don't fully follow. "Well you see Pete's father isn't the most liberal
minded person, I doubt he will ever understand his choice and definitely
will never let him back in the house... he's already announced he no longer
has a son... without even knowing for definite."  I look at my mum and feel
my heart sink..  "Well he has a room with us for as long as he needs...
what will his father do... I mean is he likely to be violent" Ask Callum. I
was shocked with his bluntness, but I suppose it was what we were all
thinking. "Well I can't honestly say...Safe to say you should stay away
until I call, I will text you later luv" my mum said a she got up a turned
away with tears in her eyes. We just sat there as my Mum walked off, the
silence was broken when callum said "come on let's get you back home"


Sorry that's all for now, although this is fiction some is based in reality
and therefore hard work through...
