A Voice from The Past
Chapter 16

Jason and Tony must have sat on the couch for over a half hour, with Tony
whispering to Jason that everything would be okay, and that they will live
a life full of love.

"Jason, baby, are you okay enough so we can go home, or do you want to stay
here with Mom for awhile longer?" Tony said.

"No, I'm okay; we can go home now. I just want to be alone with you for
awhile. I love you, Tony," Jason said, kissing him.

"Oh, baby, I love you, too; let's go," Tony said, yelling for his mom.

"Tony, what's all the yelling about?" Carol asked, coming down the stairs.

"Sorry, mom, I just wanted to let you know that Jason and I are going
home," Tony said.

"You know you can stay for supper; your father should be home in a
minute. I know he would like to see you two. Heather has wanted to see you
as well," Carol said, just as Heather walked in the door with Bobby.

"AJ! You're here," Heather said, hugging Tony, then Jason.

"Hey, there baby girl; how have you been? Bobby, good to see you again,"
Tony said, shaking hands with Bobby.

"Good to see you and Jason. Everything okay?" Booby asked.

"Going good. Jason and I were just heading home; it's been a long day for
both of us. Mom, we're going to skip supper; maybe another time," Tony
said, hugging his mom.

"Okay, you take care of Jason," Carol said, whispering in Tony's ear.

"Never a doubt, mom; you know how much I love him," Tony said.

Carol walked over to Jason and took his face into her hands. "Jason, you
are our son; Will and I love you with all our hearts. I'm sorry about your
family, but please know we are family here. You come by here any time you
need to; okay," she said.

"Yes, mom, thank you so much," Jason said, tears rolling down his cheeks,
giving her a hug.

-------------------

Jimmy and Ben had just left school. Everyone at school knew about their
relationship, so no need for them to hide. Sam walked a couple of steps
behind them, to keep an eye on things, but also giving Jimmy his
privacy. Andy had to get special permission for Sam to be at school with
Jimmy. As they walked to the car, neither saw the man lurking in the
background. With traffic being light, they made it home in no
time. Everyone exited the car, then headed into the house. Jimmy and Ben
entered first, followed by Sam, as Sam closed the door, once again not
noticing someone standing across the street.

"Mom, Dad, anyone home?" Jimmy yelled.

"I don't think anyone is home," Ben said, smiling.

"Let me see if there is a note on the refrigerator door," Jimmy said,
walking into the kitchen.

"Well, where is everyone?" Ben asked.

"Dad is at work; Mom is out with Steven and Rebecca. They won't be back for
a couple of hours," Jimmy said.

Ben walked slowly to Jimmy, taking his hand, leading him over to the couch
and sitting him down.

"So we are alone; whatever could we do?" Ben asked, with a smile on his
face.

"Well, we're not alone; Sam is in the kitchen," Jimmy said.

"Can't you send him home, so we can be alone?" Ben asked.

"No, baby, I can't. Dad said he has to be with me until Daniel is
found. Dad would kill me if I sent him away," Jimmy said.

"Well, let's go up to your room," Ben said, getting up and taking Jimmy by
the hand.

"Sam, we'll be upstairs for a bit," Jimmy yelled to Sam.

Going into the bedroom and closing the door, Jimmy put on some music.

"Come, here you; I have wanted to get you alone all day," Ben said, taking
Jimmy in his arms, and kissing him gently on the lips.

Kissing him back, Jimmy backed Ben to the bed. As the back of his legs
reached the bed, they laid down, and their kissing heated up. Jimmy began
to let his hands explore Ben's body; they were both moaning. Jimmy began
kissing Ben's ear, then moving down to his neck. Just as he reached the
nipple, they heard yelling.

"What the hell is that?" Jimmy asked.

"I don't know; let's go check it out," Ben said.

As they reached the bottom of the steps, Jimmy yelled to Sam. "Sam, what's
going on?" he said, getting no answer.

"Sam?" Jimmy said.

"Jimmy, call your dad, now!" Sam said.

"Sam, what is going on? You're scaring me," Jimmy said.

"Jimmy, just call your dad. I have your father in here," Sam said.

"WHAT!" Jimmy yelled. He quickly dialed the phone to reach his dad.

"Cook County Police Department; how may I help you?"

"I need to talk to Officer Cooper, please!" Jimmy said. Andy answered the
call quickly.

"Officer Cooper; can I help you?" Andy said.

"Dad, Sam has Daniel in the kitchen; can you come home?!" Jimmy asked.

"You stay out of the kitchen; Mark and I will be right there! Tell Sam to
hold him," Andy said.

"Sam, dad is on the way; he said to hold him," Jimmy said, from the living
room.

"James, can I talk to you, please?" Daniel yelled from the kitchen.

"No! You sit down and shut up," Sam said.

"Please let me talk to James," Daniel asked.

"No, you are not getting near that boy!" Sam said.

Andy and Mark arrived soon, running into the house.

"Sam, where are you?" Andy yelled, as he ran into the house.

"Andy, I have him cuffed to a chair in the kitchen," he said. I was out
walking the grounds, and I caught him lurking outside. When I brought him
inside, that's when I realized who he is," Sam said.

"What the hell are you doing here?" Andy said.

"I wanted to see my boy. He wouldn't come to see me, so I had to do
something," Daniel said.

"Well, now you are in more trouble than you can think," Andy said.

"Please let me see him for a minute; I don't won't to hurt him," Daniel
said.

"No! Mark, get someone here to take him in; I want him out of this house!"
Andy said.

"Okay, Andy, I'll get some on it," Mark said.

"Jimmy, are you okay?" Andy asked.

"Yea, dad, I'm fine. I didn't even know he was here until I heard yelling
in the kitchen," Jimmy said.

"I'm glad you're okay," Andy said.

"Dad, can I see him for a minute?" Jimmy asked.

"Are you sure? You don't have to do this." Andy said.

"Yea, I'm sure, I want this to be the last time I see him," Jimmy said.

"Okay, but you're not going in there alone," Andy said.

"Dad, he is cuffed to a chair and you will be in here, if I need
you. Please, I need to do this," Jimmy said, hugging his dad.

"Okay, the minute you need me, I'm there," Andy said, hugging him back
tightly.

Jimmy walked into the kitchen, with Andy nervously watching him, as Melinda
came rushing into the house.

"Andy, what is going on?" Melinda asked.

"Sam caught Daniel outside, so now he is in there talking to Jimmy," Andy
said.

"WHAT!" Melinda said.

"Mindy, please calm down. Jimmy wanted to go in there," Andy said, rubbing
her shoulder.

-------------------

"Jimmy, thank you for talking with me," Daniel said.

"I don't want to talk with you; I want to tell you something. This is the
last time you will see me. I will never come to visit you, although I doubt
you will get any visitors for a very long time. I am sorry that you
thought it necessary to break out to see me, but that's not going to
work. I never want to see you again. Yes, you gave me life, but when you
killed Jeremy, meaning to or not, you lost your spot in my life. I have a
family now that I love more than anything; so this is goodbye; never
contact me again," Jimmy said, leaving Daniel crying at the kitchen table.

"Jimmy, are you okay?" Melinda said, running to him and taking him in hers
arms.

"Yes, mom, I'm fine. I'm finally free of him; I never have to see him
again," Jimmy said, looking over at Andy.

"Oh, Jimmy. I'm so sorry you had to go though that, but it is over now,"
Melinda said, kissing him on the cheek.

"Mom, I'm going to take Rebecca and lay her down. Ben, I'll be right back,"
Jimmy said, taking Rebecca, and walking up the stairs.

"Andy, you think he will be okay?" Melinda asked.

"Yes, he will be just fine; he's going to talk it out with Rebecca," Andy
said.

------------------

"How's my baby girl today? Well, my day has been an interesting one. Daniel
showed up here today, and I'll never have to worry about seeing him again;
he will be sent back to jail, and should probably be there the rest of his
life. So now I can move on with the family I love," Jimmy said, kissing
Rebecca on the forehead.

"Jimmy," Andy said, tapping on the door, having allowed Jimmy time to talk
to Rebecca.

"Hey, dad, come on in. What's up?" Jimmy asked.

"I just wanted to make sure you're okay. Daniel was just taken away, so you
will never have to see him again," Andy said.

"Is it okay for me to feel bad, but still not want to see him?" Jimmy
asked, with tears in his eyes.

"Jimmy, you are a wonderful young man. Don't worry about feeling bad; just
know that now you can move on and live a happy life, with a family that
loves you, all of you faults and all," Andy said, with a smile.

"Hey! What faults do I have?" Jimmy said, with a whine.

"No faults that we don't love. Come on; let's go help mom with supper,"
Andy said, hugging him.

------------------

"Jason, you want to lie down for a bit, while I start fixing something to
eat?" Tony asked, as they walked into the house.

"No, I'm fine for now. I'll help you cook," Jason said, kissing him on the
cheek.

"Okay I'm going to the bathroom. You find something for us to eat, and I'll
be right back, love," Tony said.

While Tony was gone, Jason started looking for something to cook. Just as
he was about to look in the freezer, the door bell rang. "Shit, the last
time this happened it wasn't good news," Jason said to himself.

"Oh my god! Mary, what are you doing here? I haven't seen you in almost
three years. Come on in," Jason said.

"Thank you. If you could give me a hand," Mary said.

"Sure, what do we have here?" Jason asked, helping her.

"Well, here I have my two year-old twins. This little guy here is Tyler,
and my baby girl here is Tammy," Mary said.

"They are beautiful! I can't believe you are finally a mother. I know you
have wanted this for a long time," Jason said.

Mary sat down, and began to cry. Jason just looked at her for a moment,
then sat down with her, and put his arm around her shoulder. "Mary, honey,
what's wrong," Jason asked.

"I'm dying, Jason. I have only six more months with my babies," Mary said,
really crying now.

Tony came back into the living room, to the sight of two people
crying. "Jason, what's going on, baby?" he asked.

"Oh, Tony, this is a friend of mine, Mary. She's more like a sister. She
came over to talk to me, and to show me her babies," Jason said.

"It's nice to meet you, Mary. Do you want me to leave you alone?" Tony
asked.

"No Tony, you need to be here for this, since it will concern you, too,"
Mary said.

"Okay; would you like something to drink?" Tony asked.

"No, not right now," Mary said, looking at Jason, who was holding Tyler.

"You look good with him, babe. You will make a good father one day," Tony
said, looking at Jason, who was making goofy faces at Tyler, making him
laugh.

"That's sort of why I'm here, Jason. Like I was saying awhile ago; I'm
dying, and I need to find someone to take my babies. I have no one left. My
parents have passed away, as well as their daddy. His parents are gone
also. I don't want to put the up for adoption, and I wouldn't know what
family they are going to. I know we lost touch, but I thought of you, and
wanted to see if you thought you could take them, and raise them as your
own," Mary said, trying not to break down again.

"Oh, Mary I don't know what to say. Tony and I will have to discuss
this. We are getting married next month, and while we would like to have a
family, we didn't expect it this soon," Jason said, looking at Tony.

"I know, Jason; <sniff> I shouldn't... <sniff> have come here... <sniff>,"
Mary said, getting up to leave.

"Mary, come on, don't leave now. We need to talk about this," Tony said.

They sat and talked for the next three hours, about everything... from Mary
losing her husband, to finding out she had cancer, and was now going to
leave her babies alone in the world. She had wanted to be a mom for so
long, only to have it taken away. They talked about the possibility that
Jason and Tony would adopt them. Finally, Tony and Jason went into the
kitchen to make dinner, and to discuss the babies, leaving Mary in the
living room with the twins.

"What do you think, baby," Jason asked.

"I don't know. Do you really think we could do this? I mean, if we do this,
there is no turning back. I have wanted children, but I didn't know if it
was possible. But they sure are cute. I remember Heather when she was that
young," Tony said.

"Okay, how about this; we get Mary to move in here, and spend the remaining
time with Tyler and Tammy, and help Mary out; because as she gets sicker,
she will need our help," Jason said, with tears in his eyes.

"I would be honored to raise Tyler and Tammy with you. I love you so
much... to be able to share parenting with you will just be a bonus," Tony
said, hugging Jason and kissing him.

"Mary, please come sit down for dinner, we will discuss this more, while we
eat," Jason said.

While they ate, they talked out the plan to have Mary and the babies move
in. They would have to move some stuff around to make a room for them,
however. As they talked, it looked more like everything was going to work
out for them all. Tyler had really taken to Jason, and he was sitting on
his lap while eating. Tony sat there, falling more in love with Jason, as
he watched him with Tyler.

"Jason, right now, I think I need to get them home and ready for bed," Mary
said.

"You could stay here tonight," Jason said, giving Tony a sideward glance.

"Honey, I don't have anything here," Mary said.

"Tony can take you home, and get what you need to stay for a couple of
days, and then we can slowly get the rest of your stuff," Jason said.

"Okay, if you're sure that's what you want," Mary said, with tears in hers
eyes.

"Leave Tyler and Tammy here; we can lay them down in the bed upstairs `til
you get back," Jason said.

With Tony and Mary gone, the babies soon fell asleep, and Jason was sitting
in a chair, watching them breathe. Then he went to make a call.

"Hello"

"Hello; mom, I need to talk to you," Jason said.

To Be Continued.....

Now which mother do you think Jason called? Let me know what you think.
