Warning:

This story is fiction- all names were made up. So if there is anyone out
there with these names, I don't know them. If you do not like the idea of
male relationships, then please do not read any further.

This is my first story, so please let me know how I'm doing. I have been
reading the stories on Nifty for about three years, and decided that I
wanted to give it a try as a Nifty writer. I would like to know what you
think... so drop me an email, and let me know. Please add the story title
in the subject of the email.

I want to thank Joe for all the help he has given me throughout this
story. Without his help, I would probably still be on chapter 1. I also
want to thank Jere for taking the time to edit the story for me.

So, get comfortable, read the story, and I'm hoping that you enjoy it!

A Voice from The Past

Chapter 2

"Mom, I can't believe you are taking Tony and Jason's side on this," Andy
said, getting upset.

"You listen to me; your brother has been with Jason for four years, and
it's time that you learn to live with your brother's lifestyle, or you are
going to lose Tony," Carol said.

"Carol, Andy, will you both be quiet. Tony may be in a coma, but there is a
good chance that he can hear you, and I don't want him to hear you
fighting," Jason said, looking between Carol and Andy.

"Jason, you are right! We shouldn't be doing this. Tony is going to come
back to us - I hope real soon. I don't know how much more of this I can
take," Carol said.

"Well, I don't care. I don't want Jason here! Maybe Tony will feel the same
way when he wakes up!" Andy said angrily.

"Andy, I want you to leave, until you stop acting like this," Carol said,
getting extremely angry.

"Mom......" Andy started to say, but was interrupted.

"Excuse me," Tony said in a real weak voice, almost a whisper, and he was
almost not heard.

"Oh my god! Tony!" said a very excited Jason, going over to his bed and
taking his hand.

"What... where am I? Who am I?" Tony said, looking at Jason, holding his
hand.

"Baby, I'm so glad you are awake," Jason said, with tears in his eyes.

"Who are you? Why are you holding my hand?" Tony asked.

"Tony, baby; it's me, Jason," Jason said, leaning in like he was going to
kiss him.

Tony held up his hand to stop Jason. "I'm sorry, I don't know you. Why do
you keep calling me `baby'?" Tony exclaimed.

"I knew it! He finally wants you gone. So you can leave, Jason, NOW!" Andy
declared hotly.

"Who are you?" Tony said, looking at Andy.

"I'm Andy, your brother. Twin brother to be exact!" Andy said.

"I'm sorry, I can't remember. What happened?" Tony said, looking at the
woman.

"Oh, honey, it is going to be okay. Mom is here! Calm down," Carol said.

"I don't know who you are! I'm so scared!" Tony said, his eyes filling with
tears.

"Honey, you don't worry about that now. I'm going to get the doctor, and
call your father." Turning around to leave, she stopped looking between
Jason and Andy. "You two do anything to upset Tony, this is the last time
either of you will be in this room! UNDERSTOOD!" Carol said with
authority.

"Yes Ma'ma." Jason and Andy said at the same time, hanging their heads low.

"Dr. Barrett," Carol said, walking up to the doctor.

"Dr. Barrett, Tony is awake. He is scared; he says he doesn't know
anyone. I'm going to call my husband. Please go check on my son, and make
sure that those stubborn boys are not arguing and fighting in front of
Tony," Carol said, heading outside to use her cell.

"Hello."

"Hello, Heather, let me talk to your father," Carol said.

"Is Tony alright?" Heather said, getting emotional.

"Yes, sweetie, Tony is fine. I just called to let you know that he is
awake," Carol said.

"DAD, Mom's on the phone," Heather yelled.

"Carol, what is going on?"

"William, Tony woke up a bit ago. He seems fine, but we do have a problem,"
Carol said, holding back her tears.

"Okay, Carol. Heather and I will be down there as soon as we can get
ready. We'll meet you there," William said.

Tony and everyone else were quietly talking when Heather and William walked
in the room.

"AJ!" Heather squealed, running up and jumping in Tony's bed, wrapping her
arms around his neck, not wanting to let go.

Tony just looked around the room.

"Heather, honey, please; will you get down, sweetheart, before you hurt
him?" William said.

"Dad, I want to sit here with AJ," Heather said.

"It's okay. Why did you call me AJ?" Tony asked.

"I have always called you AJ. Don't you remember?" Heather said, with
tears in her eyes.

Heather started singing the song that Tony sang to her when she was just a
baby, and until she was ten. In fact, he would still sing it occasionally.

"No, I don't. I'm sorry, but I don't remember anything," Tony said, looking
between his Mom and Dad. There is something about that song. I don't know
what it is!"

"That's okay, Tony; we will get through this, and you will get your memory
back," William said.

Two weeks passed since Tony came out of his coma. He had visitors' every
day, but Jason and Andy had never come to visit at the same time. His
sister-in-law Melinda, and nephew Steven would come to visit; they seemed
to get along good.

Tony still did not remember anyone. However, he was getting along with
everyone, even Andy, but the time alone with Jason was the hardest. He
could tell Jason was hurting, but he didn't know what to do, and decided he
would have to talk with the doctor.

"Hello, Tony," Dr. Barrett said, as he was walking into the room.

"Hello, Dr. Barrett; how are you today?" Tony asked.

"I'm good, thank you. Tony, how is your day going?" Dr. Barrett asked.

"Good; just worried. When will I start remembering things?" Tony asked,
with a tear in his eye and a quiver in his voice.

"Tony, there's no way to be able to pin-point when that will happen. You
could wake up in the morning, remembering everything, or it could be quite
sometime. You have to prepare yourself; it may be never. We have had cases
where trauma patients never did get their memory back. I don't want to
frighten you, but this is something that you should consider. You are
showing signs of a complete recovery, however," Dr. Barrett said, looking
over his chart.

"Dr. Barrett, can I talk to you about something that has to stay between
us?" Tony asked, looking worried.

"Sure, Tony; you can tell me anything; I'm here to help you." Dr. Barrett
said.

"Well," Tony paused, not sure what he wanted to say, with his head hanging
down.

"Tony is this about Jason?"

Tony looked up, shocked. "What do you mean?" Tony asked.

"Tony, I know about you and Jason. The two of you have been together for
four years. He has been so upset. He is afraid that you will not remember,
and he will lose you," Dr. Barrett said.

"I just feel bad when he visits. I know he wants more. I just can't do
that yet. I feel something with him, but I just can't act like I remember
anything," Tony said, putting his head in his hands, crying.

Dr. Barrett sat on the side of the bed. "Tony, let me tell you something
that not many people know. I'm gay, and I have been with my partner for 10
years now. I was just starting my internship, when he came in the emergency
room. Someone had beaten him up, when they found out about him being
gay. He was in pretty bad shape. We didn't think he would make it. I was
just starting to question myself, and when I saw him for the first time, I
knew that I wanted to know him. I guess what I'm trying to say is, that he
was going through what you are going through. His boyfriend, at the time,
didn't like it because he couldn't remember, so he left, and he has not
seen him since. Be thankful that Jason is still coming around. I can tell
how much Jason loves you. So just spend time with him. Get to know him
again, and see what happens. You may even have to start building a new
relationship again.

"Thank you so much, doctor! I guess I have a lot to think about," Tony
said.

"I'll let you do that thinking, and check on you later," Dr. Barrett said,
leaving the room.

"What am I going to do?" Tony said to himself. "When, oh, when will it
happen?"
