Thanks Randy for doing a terrific job of editing.

Now just sit back and enjoy!Early the next morning, the guys hit the
trail. "Hey, Jack, let's pick up the pace a little and see if we can make
the trailhead today." said Dennis.

"That is just fine with me. Do we have cell service all the way?" asked
Jack.

"No, if we have service we will lose it soon and won't have it back most of
the way. We are on the Willamette side now and the canyons become very
steep and we will be traveling at the bottom of them. There aren't many
microwave towers in reach," replied Dennis. "The phone service will become
very spotty and only fair at the very best!"

"Let's get a move on then." said Jack.

Jack in the lead went around a curve and Dennis's cell started
vibrating. "Liar, Liar, pants on fire!" Dennis looked at Kyle who was
grinning from ear to ear.

The cell started vibrating again. It was the police calling to inform
Dennis that they had performed the requested welfare check and Walt's
parent were unharmed and anxious to hear from Walt.

Dennis motioned for Walt to come up and handed him the phone so he could
read the message. Walt got tears in his eyes, and Dennis whispered "Get a
grip on yourself. We can't afford to have Jack getting suspicious now. When
I take my hat off and start fanning myself, time to go into you diarrhea
act. Ok?"

"Yes!"

It wasn't long before Dennis was fanning himself with his hat. "Hey,
Jack. Wait up for a few minutes. I have to go to the bathroom really
bad. It feels like I have a case of diarrhea coming on," yelled Walt.

"Hurry up, we don't have all day!" Jack yelled back.

Walt jumped from his horse and ran into the bushes. After a few minutes he
returned and they were on their way again. About fifteen minutes later, the
whole scene was repeated. Only this time it was Dennis who ran for the
bushes.

When he returned, Jack came back and asked Dennis and Walt what was going
on. "I think it must have been something that we ate. I certainly hope that
you and Kyle don't get it! It is not far to a little lake. I need to wash
myself because I didn't make it time. I took my underwear off and cleaned
myself as well as I could."

In about a half hour, they reached the little lake. Dennis and Walt took
off to the bushes again. "Be sure to leave your clothes on. Give us about
five minutes." said Dennis going back to the horses.

"I am going down to the lake and take a dip and wash myself and put clean
underwear on," Dennis said.

"Why don't we all take a little dip and cool off a little," suggested Kyle.

"Sounds like a good plan to me," said Jack

"Let's just leave the saddles and packs on. We can make this a short cool
off time and be on our way," suggested Dennis. The plan was already
starting to work.

"Go on down. I have to hit the bushes again. I will be down shortly," said
Walt.

"I hope I don't get what you two have. I hate diarrhea with a passion,"
said Jack.

"You and me both," commented Kyle.

The three guys went to the lake and took off their clothes. As usual Jack
put his pistol in his boot and jumped into the water. Dennis dug more
clean underwear out of his pack. At the same time, he got the hand cuffs
out and slipped them into his pants pocket, unnoticed by anyone.

"Oh, damn, I think I have to hit the bushes again. I might as well get
dressed because I think my swimming just came to an end," Dennis got out
the water and started drying off and got dressed.

"I think I will get out and make a quick lunch and the we can head on down
the trail." Said Kyle, was already out of the water and getting dressed.

"I guess I will have to get out, too. since Walt won't be able to help me
watch you two."

"You still don't trust us, do you? Even after we gave you our promise,"
Kyle said.

"No more than you trust me! So I guess we are at a stand-off," said Jack.

Kyle and Dennis were fully dressed. "I had better go or I will have to
change my underwear again."

Jack walked up and started to dry himself. Dennis looked at Kyle and nodded
his head. Both guys jumped Jack and had him on the ground pinned.

"What are you doing? Get off me! Now!"

Dennis pulled the handcuffs out and pulled Jack's hands behind him and
snapped the cuffs into place. Walt had rushed to the scene and grabbed
Jack's gun.

"What about your promise?" screamed Jack.

"I had my fingers crossed and that canceled my promise," said Dennis. "What
did you have crossed to cancel your promise?"

"Walt, shoot them. Don't let them get away with this! Do it now!" shouted
Jack.

"Afraid not. You are our prisoner now. You see, I heard you and Bill
talking and I knew I would be a dead man along with these two men. So I
joined them. Sorry scumbag," said Walt.

"Bill is on his way here. He will do away with all three of you," cursed
Jack.

"Not gonna happen, Jack. Yes, I have a cell phone and I sent a text to the
state police and told them what was going on. They were waiting at the
trailhead. When your partner arrived, he resisted arrest and tried to
run. He was shot and killed. So you are on your own now with no one to do
your dirty work for you. We certainly know who the ring leader is, don't we
Jack?"

"Walt, you know what is going to happen to your parents now. Nothing has
changed," threaten Jack.

"No, what? The police ran a welfare check and have moved them to a safe
place. So now you have nothing except a naked body. Maybe we should
handcuff you to a tree and leave your sorry ass for the bears. No, I think
letting the law take of you would be best. You will have plenty of time to
think about what you have done. I hear that life in prison is not all that
pleasant!" said Walt.

"Please, guys, don't do this! I will do anything you ask. You can have all
the money! Anything," begged Jack.

"Begging does not become you and it will certainly not help your
situation. Let's get him back to the horses and head for the trail
head. Jack, do you want us to dress you without you fighting us or do you
want to go nude? Your butt will become hamburger if you sit in the saddle
nude. I don't care one way or the other. Your choice," stated Kyle.

"I'll let you put my boots and clothes on." replied Jack. When Kyle bent
down to slip Jack's pants on, Jack tried to kick him and landed a glancing
blow on his leg.

Kyle formed a fist and hit Jack very hard in mouth. "I guess you want to do
this the hard way," Kyle threw him on the ground and sat on him. "Slip his
pants on and don't be careful if his nuts get in the way-- just give the
pants a harder pull. If he screams in pain all the better."

"Please, I am through fighting. I will let you dress me," begged Jack.

The guys were able to dress him and put his boots on without any
resistance. Soon they were on the horses headed down the trail, with Jack
handcuffed to the saddle, facing backward. Kyle took the lead and held the
reins of Jack's horse so he could lead the horse.

"Walt, why don't you give me the pistol. I will put it my saddle bag. I
don't think you need to get caught with it when the police arrive. I think
if you turn yourself in and tell them what you have told me, you should
walk away from all this a free man, maybe have some probation. I am going
to get you the best lawyer and be beside you all the way," said Dennis.

"Good idea. I never gave it a thought. I really appreciate what you are
doing for me. Somehow, I'll repay you," explained Walt. "Walt, you've
already helped by telling us of Jack's evil intentions and helping us
capture him. I think that is payment enough. As far as I am concerned we
are even now. All of this speaks in your favor and I think the judge will
take it into consideration," Dennis told his new friend. "I think you can
beat this rap. Everything so far is leaning in your direction. Just be
honest and don`t try to cover anything up. Tell the police what they want
to know."

"I am going to call the police and tell them that we have Jack and that we
are headed their way. They will probably just wait at the trailhead. I
don't know if they have a horse patrol or not. In either case we can relax
a little. We have to watch poop head here and not give him a chance to try
anything. We may have to spend one more night on the trail before we make
the trailhead."

Dennis made his phone call and was told that they were already coming up
the trail and to stay put. They were only about three hours out. Dennis
called his dad and told him what had happened and that they would be headed
home in about three hours. He said they would travel back to Horseshoe Lake
and spend the night and would leave early in the morning.

"Walt, I don't know what will happen to you, but I am going to talk with
the police and see if we can take you back with us," said Kyle. "I don't
think it is a wise idea for you to go with Jack. If he should somehow get
loose, your life would be absolutely worthless. He would probably hold you
hostage and would kill you in the long run."

"I agree. I certainly hope that you can cut a deal with the police. If I
can't stay with you, I am going to request to be placed in a different car
and taken to Eugene. I don't want to be in the same one with Jack. He will
probably be taken to Redmond," responded Walt.

"I think we should find a big shade tree and sit for a spell. We can just
leave Jack handcuffed to the saddle. ," said Dennis.

"Jack, you have heard everything. You have absolutely no say in the
matter. You will just have lump it. Just don't try anything foolish. I know
that Dennis can use a gun and he is a very good shot. He won't hesitate to
shoot you!" Kyle said.

"You know that it is not to late too let me `escape'. I would go and you
would never see me again. Please!" begged Jack.

"Not gonna happen. We trusted you once and you were going to kill us
anyway. So why should we trust you again. You have even more reasons to do
away with us. You have a debt to pay to society and you must be responsible
for your own stupid actions. Sorry, no deal!" Kyle exclaimed. "I think we
have heard enough from you. Just shut your face and give my ears a rest. If
you don`t we will use your dirty underwear or better yet the pair Dennis
messed and use them to gag you!"

Now all they had to do was wait for the State Police to arrive. Jack
continued to beg for his freedom but it got him nowhere. He would just have
to suffer the consequences and pay for his crimes.

It was not long before the policemen arrived to take Jack into custody. The
first thing that Dennis did was to hand over the pistol that belonged to
Jack. "I have it unloaded, and here are the shells that belong to it. I
didn't want them left in the gun, in case Jack got a hold of it somehow."

"Good thinking . I bet this is the gun that killed the bank guard. The one
belonging to the man who was shot turned out not to be the kiling
weapon. Therefore, he was probably not the shooter. I think the killer is
right over there," said the policeman in charge.

"He is not to be trusted and is just one big liar," said Dennis.

Dennis and Kyle told the policemen everything they knew about Walt. "We
were wondering if Walt could go back with us and turn himself in
Redmond. We are all afraid that somehow Jack would break away, and Walt
would be in the center of harm's way. His parents are already in protective
custody. We don't know if there are other gang members and if they will try
to set Jack free. We think another man, a bank employee is involved" said
Dennis.

"I really can`t say but I will call my superiors and find out. I agree Walt
should not be with Jack when we take him in," The police man said. "I will
call now and if he can`t go home with you, then arrangements will be made
for his escort and not with Jack.."

After a few minute the return call came through. "My supervisor has gone
over the rap sheet that came over the wire and can find nothing on
Walt. There were two warrants: one for Jack and the other for the man who
was shot. So from all we can figure out there is nothing we can hold him
on. Walt, you will have to be sure to turn yourself in and go into
protective custody until we can determine whether or not other individuals
are involved," said the policeman.

"I can tell you now that no one else is involved. I have nothing to gain by
lying. I will probably get a life sentence or even the death penalty
because they will find that the killing bullet came from my gun," said
Jack.

"Liar, Jack! I know there is at least one other man who is probably a bank
employee," said Walt.

"In that case, I think my supervisor and I made a good decision. I will
call the office and tell them what has just happened and they can notify
Redmond. Walt, you should still go before a judge and let him make the
decision to set you free. Good luck! We really appreciate all the help that
you have given. I think you can turn around now and head for home. By the
way RELAX. The worst is over now. There are just bright sunny days
ahead. We would like to borrow the horse that Jack is riding. We'll put him
in a trailer and return him to you."

"That is fine with me. We won't be needing him, He is just an extra and a
big pet. We keep him around for the kids to ride and enjoy," Dennis
replied.
