The Cabin by the Lake part II
Chapter 9

"I feel like a new man. I am starting to actually like myself. This is
something that I have never done before. I hated myself and the whole
world," replied Jerry.

"Jerry, I can feel all the anger that you have built up inside you. If you
want to release some of it, I am a good listener and I have strong broad
shoulder, if you need some support. One of the best ways to heal is to let
go of all the anger and get rid of it forever. The best way is to verbalize
it. Another way is to write it on paper. Just start writing and let it all
come out without trying to control the writing in any way. If you don't
want anyone to see what you have written, then just throw the paper in the
fireplace."

"I don't know if I can do this. I know that I will become very emotional
and may even cry."

"Jerry, I don't know where the saying that `grown men don't cry' came
from. If you do, then I will probably be crying along with you. You have to
grieve the past before you can get rid of all that excess baggage that you
are carrying around. You have carried it so long that you almost destroyed
yourself."

"I really don't know where to start. All of this so painful."

"Don't try to control your thoughts and don't try to think it out. Just
wipe your mind clean and let go. You will be surprised when your hurts
start to come out. When you get it all out, then you can start your life
all over."

"Dennis, I must have a guardian angel that brought me to you. You did what
I needed. My eye and lips still remind me what you did. All I can say is
THANKS for waking me up."

"Jerry, I think your guardian angel took control of me. I don't know what
possessed me to hit you not once but twice. That was completely out of
character for me to even think about hitting another in anger and it makes
me shutter. I did and I am glad because now we can work together and maybe
a lot of good will come out of it."

"I think my hate and anger started a long time before I was born. My
grandparents made it big time in the oil business. They made a
fortune. They were both so involved in running the business that they
didn't have time for Uncle Joe and my mother. They were raised by nannies
who couldn't speak English. The only love they receive was from each
other. They remain very close today. Neither one will do anything to openly
hurt the other," Jerry paused for a second and then continued.

"My dad came into the picture. He just had $$$$$ flashing before his
eyes. Never any love for my mother. They were married and less than a year
later, he took off never to come back. Several months later, I was born. I
found out that my grandfather heard from him one time and paid him $20,000
to stay lost and to sign the divorce papers. Grandpa held the money up
until the divorce was final. I hated my dad and many of a time I wanted to
find him and shoot him. Lucky for me no one in the family had any idea
where to look for him. Uncle Joe thinks he went to Alaska. Mom thinks he
went to Australia. I just hope that he stays out of our lives."'

Dennis could see that Jerry was becoming very upset and was literally
shaking all over. "Hey, Jerry we will be making camp very shortly. Why
don't we stop for a short time and let you rest for a bit. I think I need a
great big hug! How about you?" asked Dennis.

"I think that sounds like a good idea."

They stopped and dismounted. "Come here, you big lug and give me a great
big squeeze," said Dennis." Jerry just stood there sobbing. Dennis put his
arms around him and gave him one big bear hug.

Jerry just relaxed and looked Dennis in the eye and said, "Thanks, I really
needed that."

"Not a problem. We are going to get you through all of this. You won't have
to climb the mountains and cross valleys all by yourself. Jerry, may I tell
Kyle what happen to you. He will be able to help a lot. He has gone through
a very trying and terrible experience himself, Therefore, between the two
of we can smother you in love."

"Dennis, I would like to be there when you do. I want to hear all about
myself from someone else."

Camp was set up. Kyle dug out some fishing poles and gave each child
one. "Dads, you get the pleasure taking the kids, plus our two
fishing. Some one has to untangle all their messes. Mom, you and Sherry had
better remain close by I am sure that everyone will spent an hour
untangling the mess that the kids will make in only three minutes. Catch
some grasshoppers to use as bait and have fun."

"Kyle, Jerry and I are going to take a kike around the lake. Want to come?"

"Sure thing. Give me a sec and I will be ready." Kyle finished setting up
the outdoor toilet and was ready to go. "Hey, guys may I tag along? I have
something I would like to discuss with all three of you," declared Uncle
Joe.

"Sure thing, Uncle Joe," replied Jerry.

I wonder what is going to happen now? Dennis thought to himself. The four
guys walked part way around the lake, found a nice log and sat down.

"Jerry, you might not like what I have to say but I heard you and Dennis
talking coming down the trail. Kyle, you won't know what is going on but
you'll know in a few minutes."

"Go ahead, Uncle Joe, that is what we were going to talk to Kyle about,"
said Jerry.

"Jerry, I have found out a few things about your dad that I did not know
until very, very recently. You, your mother and I have been hating the
wrong person all these many years. Recently, I finally got up enough
courage to go down in my mother's basement and with the idea of cleaning it
up. I found an old box that contained a lot of old letters and three
diaries my mother had written along with a lot of other stuff." Uncle Joe
choked up and was unable to go on.

"Uncle Joe, like I told Jerry, Kyle and I are here for both of you. Here
let me give you a hug. If it is to painful, you can stop and we can
continue another time. We have all week."

"Thanks, Dennis. I have put this off way too long now. I can continue, just
needed a little breather. We have hated your father all these years but he
is actually the one that was really hurt. My mother kept a very complete
record of all that was happening in the family, including your father. Your
grandmother is actually the one that inherited all the money in the
family. Your grandfather didn't have anything until he married your
grandmother. He was able to use that money to build up the family
fortune. Mom was worth millions after she inherited every thing from your
grandfather who had put everything in his name of course she had her
original inheritance from her parents."

"Mom, was very sorry about the way your mother and I were raised and
couldn't do anything about. Dad was a very domineering, controlling person
and that is why all the troubles started. He is the one we should have been
hating but for some reason, I can't bring myself to do so. I haven't told
your mother any of this."

"Your mother met you father and they fell in love and were married. Your
grandfather did not like your father at all. He gave your Dad $20,000 and
told him to get lost. Your dad refuse to leave, so my father threatened to
have him and your mother killed. Your father was scared that he would and
didn't want anything to happen to your mother. My mother kept in contact
with him all these years. Those are the letters I was referring to. She
told your dad that there was a contract out on him and that your
grandfather wanted him dead. "

"My mother used some of her money to buy a new identity for you father and
relocated him so your grandfather couldn't find him. Your grandmother got a
PO box and all communications between the two of them went to the POs. Your
mother knows nothing about any of this. I wanted to wait until I had a
chance to met with you before telling her. I am afraid that this is going
to really get to her. I want you there when I tell her."

Jerry put his head in his lap and started sobbing. All three put their arms
around him and just held him. Finally, he relaxed enough for his uncle to
continue.

"Jerry, I think we had better stop and continue this later. I don't know
how much more you can take and I know that I can't take any more."

"Thanks, Uncle Joe! You don't know how many hours I have spent hating my
dad, myself and everyone around me. You saw the person that I became. Mom
always came to my assistance, bailing me out of jail for fighting and doing
other stupid things. She must really be hurting inside and I didn't make
things any easier for her. I am going to make it up to her someway. I think
Mom should know just as soon as we get back from this camping trip."

"We had better leave now so we get back before dark. This is certainly not
the place you want be after the sunsets. Remember there are no street
lights out here," Kyle said. "I feel very sorry for your whole family. Just
remember that Dennis and I are here for you. If nothing else we can pray
for you."

"I thought you two were gay! I didn't realize that you were Christians
also," said Uncle Joe.

"Yes, we go to church on a regular basis, sing in the choir, been baptized,
and participate in communion. There is a lot of misunderstandings about
gays that people just don't understand," Kyle said.

After the rest of the group had gone to bed, Dennis threw some logs on the
fire and sat down on a portable chair. Kyle, Jerry and Uncle Joe joined
him.

"Are you ready to continue, Jerry? I must tell you that the rest may cause
you to have a heart attack. What I am going say is much more shocking than
anything I said before," warned Uncle Joe. "What could be more shocking?"
asked Jerry.

"Let me give you a little more background and then you will know where I am
coming from. After I found that box, I read everything very carefully. On
the very last page-the very last entry to be exact was the name and address
of your dad's sister. With the help of the internet, I found her current
address and phone number. I called her and she almost fainted when I told
who I was and what I wanted. She has agree to meet with us on Saturday, the
day we get back and will arrange to have her brother, your father met us on
Sunday. That is the reason, I choose the Wilderness Experience for our
vacation. I almost keeled over when you opened your mouth and got punched
by Dennis. I just knew you had spoiled everything. Thank God, that the
chain of events took a about turn. "

Jerry let out a scream and fainted. He fell off the log where he was
sitting and hit the ground. Uncle Joe and Dennis were by his side
immediately. Kyle ran to get some water. All the adults heard the scream
and came running out of the tents.

"What happened to Jerry," said one of his cousins.

"All of you might as well sit down because this is something that you all
need to hear." said Uncle Joe.

With the help of Mom, they were able to revive Jerry. "Please, Uncle Joe,
don't tell me you were joking!"

"Jerry, this is no joking matter. You screamed so loud before you fainted
that the whole camp heard you. The kids are still asleep. I told them to
have a seat while I finish the rest of the story. Is that ok with you,
Jerry?"

"Oh, absolutely! Tell us I can't wait."

"Jerry, just before you fainted I told you that your dad's sister was right
here. In fact she is an employee of Kyle and Dennis and no it is not
Mom. You met her. It is Loretta from the Bed and Breakfast."

"Oh, No! It can't be!" cried Jerry with tears running down his cheeks.

Uncle Joe quickly told the rest of the group the whole story while he was
waiting for Jerry to calm a bit.

"Jerry, are you ready for the rest of the story?" Jerry couldn't speak and
shook his head yes. Dennis and Kyle were holding Jerry very tightly in a
hug and giving him lots of moral support.

"Jerry, your dad lives right here in Bend and you will meet him for the
very first time in you life on Sunday" Jerry didn't say anything but turned
white and looked as if he was going to faint again.

"Take a very deep breath. Fill your lungs with air. Jerry, let it out
slowly. Keep doing that. Jerry listen to my voice. Did you have a safe
place to go when you were angry, or scared. Go there now. Go to your safe
place. Are you there? Good, I can see you smiling. Stay there as long as
you like! Keep breathing. In-Out-In- Out."

After a few minutes, "Dennis, I am back now. Your voice kept me going.
Don't cry Dennis. I am going to be fine now. Thanks!"

"I am so tired now. I need to lie down. Dennis and Kyle, May I sleep in
your tent. I don't want to be in mine all alone," pleaded Jerry.TBCYou
know, Jerry, you're one hell of a nice guy when you want to be. I can't get
over how you have changed," said Dennis.
