Prologue

"Oh, Michael ..." was the last coherent thing Stephen said as his rhythm
changed and he emptied himself in Michael. Michael had immediately started
to stroke himself and within a minute, he was yelling Stephen's name. As he
finished, he pulled Stephen down on top of him and kissed him, panting to
get his breath back. He could feel Stephen beginning to soften and he came
out as they turned sideways still linked by their arms.

When they came down from their high, they looked at each other. "Stephen, I
am beginning to see what it is I want and who I want to be." For emphasis,
he kissed Stephen yet again.

"Michael, I feel awake after a long sleep. Thank you for waking me up."

No more had to be said. As they lay entwined waiting for sleep to come,
Michael managed to slur some words. "Just wait till tomorrow morning. Be
prepared." Stephen only held him tighter. The next morning, Michael was
only just a little gentler and it lasted a little longer.

Present

They decided that Stephen would bring his article back that night and that
Michael would spend the week and weekend at his condo while they worked on
the article as the deadline was just a couple of weeks away. Michael's
first thought was that it would be an interesting experiment to be together
for a week. They would take a break on Sunday for supper at James' and
Matt's place and he would go home from there. They were heading up to the
Bourgeois cottage the next weekend.

Michael arrived with a small suitcase and his computer. He had set his home
phone to forward calls to his mobile. Michael read the article on his
tablet first and then printed it. He started again with a pen in hand,
making notes and points where he thought a graphic should go and the nature
of the graphic. He then made a copy of the article on his computer and
started making the changes in red and leaving spaces for the graphics with
titles. He renamed the file and sent it to Stephen's computer.

"Wow, all that in just a couple of hours!" They then got down to the hard
slogging. Michael kept on stressing that this was Stephen's article and his
points were just suggestions. They started working on some of the
graphs. Stephen had a special program for that; so when given the data, he
could produce different graph formats. By the end of the night, they could
see real progress and could clearly see how much time it was going to
take. They celebrated appropriately that night. Scotch first and then ....

It felt strange but good to come back to Stephen's after work and not to
his condo. He had let himself in with his new key and had puttered in the
kitchen getting some food ready and then he sat down to finish something
from work. When Stephen came in, he had the food ready and places
set. They seemed to be in sync with each other, sharing comments about the
day. They started to work on the article very soon after the meal.

At about 8, a phone started to ring. They looked at each other. Michael,
"Oh shit it's mine. Where the hell is it?" He finally found it. "Oh, hi
dad. No, I couldn't find my phone, long story." There were a few minutes of
chit chat between them. "Sorry, Dad but I am not going to be able to make
it this year. Oh, damn, the dock. Could you hold for a moment while I check
my calendar?" He put the phone on mute and explained the dock and the
cottage to Stephen. He asked if Steven would mind going up to help put it
in the next weekend. Unfortunately, he had seminars that weekend that he
was involved with but he was free the following weekend. "Dad you and I
could do it the next weekend or the weekend after, I could bring a friend
to help. Yes I agree; three would be better. OK, I'll bring a friend that
weekend. Dad, I had better let you know that the friend and I are quite
close." There was a period of silence as he listened to his father. "Dad, I
think that it is time. I am not going to deny who I am anymore. This would
be a great way to meet Stephen. You'll like him. We'll be there on the
Saturday morning and he gave the date. See you then."

"Nicely done, Michael. You really didn't give him an option. We have both
done it. Feels better doesn't it?"

"Yes but we haven't heard the end of this yet. There will be a call from my
mother. Not sure how that will go but I shall wait expectantly. I am
committed."

They didn't have long to wait. His telephone rang an hour later. "Hi mom."
He listened for a few minutes. He repeated some of Stephen's facial
gestures from the conversation with his brother as his mother
talked. Finally, "Mom, I am 31 years of age. I am who I am. I have someone
I want you to meet. He is coming to the cottage as a friend from the
city. Mom, I am not going to deny who I am to people anymore, not even to
your friends. This would be a good way for you to become more comfortable
with the idea and meet a really interesting friend." There was a pause and
when he spoke there was steel in his voice. "Mom, the dock goes in with
Stephen there with me." He listened for a minute. "Mom call it what you
will. That is the way it will be." He could sense that she was
weakening. She was not used to not getting her way. "See you in a couple
of weeks. Looking forward to seeing you and dad.

"Apparently, I am blackmailing my parents. Now I am sweating. No ... put
that thought on hold." With raised eyebrows, "Later? We have a lot of work
still to do tonight. We have a fast approaching deadline."

"Slave driver. Later it is!" They accomplished a lot and both were excited
as they looked at the quickly emerging final draft, formatted with a
growing number of meaningful and attractive graphs. With a trip to the
shower, Michael was very clean by the time they hit the bedroom and as he
said to Stephen, with a very engaged libido. It was obvious that he really
enjoyed the smack on his rear from Stephen for his repetition of Stephen's
words. Stephen could only groan with laughter as Michael begged 'again,
again'.

They both had to admit to themselves as they were readying themselves for
dinner at James' on Sunday that the week together had been an eye
opener. Michael found himself not looking forward to going his condo by
himself. They enjoyed their time together, the camaraderie, the discussions
and of course the closeness. They had had a great time with the guys at the
club on Friday. They had taken breaks on Saturday to shop; both just
enjoyed being out doing things together. Michael had prepared a really good
meal for Saturday night. He was becoming quite competent in the
kitchen. They had watched a movie and spent a wonderful time later slowly
arousing each other. It ended it as it should have ended. Now they were
ready for social time with James and family.

Matt answered the door and gave Michael a hug and shook hands with
Stephen. They had been told to dress casually and both looked great in
slacks and form fitting shirts. Michael's welcome was warm. Stephen's
welcome was more low key; he was an unknown quantity. Stephen was taken by
the ease between the gay and straight couples, especially Jason and his
girlfriend. Robbie and Maria were a delight exactly as Michael had
described. There were drinks and hors d'oeuvres. The tempo and noise level
picked up. Dave, Kevin's partner was talking to Stephen and had just asked
him how they had met, at the exact time when there was a lull in the
general conversations.

Eyes shifted to Stephen who looked at everyone, "OK, I shall get this out
of the way. We met the night that you guys had taken him to the club." He
stopped expecting that would not be enough for this group.

James spoke up, "And?"

"I invited him back to my place for a scotch." Stephen paused
dramatically, anticipating that there would be very knowing sighs and
laughter from the group including suggestive comments. There were. "I
stupidly told him that he could drink my scotch, chat and leave. Damn it,
he took me at my word and left."

There were guffaws all around. All attention shifted to Michael. "What can
I was say? I was confused, a mess and he did repeat several times that I
could contact him for a chat, more scotch. In fact he repeated to me that
it had still been a great evening."

"It took you a bloody month to even make an approach to me." There were a
few mock gasps and comments like Stephen must be a saint. "And then you
turn up at my lecture and were going to leave without talking to me."

More good natured catcalls. Michael had to make some comment. "We did come
to an amicable understanding."

It was Paul who interjected. "Amicable or amorous?"

Stephen, "A gentleman never tells." He said it in such a mock, self
righteous voice that there was laughter all around. Eyes now focused back
on Michael.

"I too am a gentleman!"

It was Jason who intervened with, "What was the lecture about?"

There were jeers and boos at Jason for letting them off the hook but
Michael took it like a lifeline and summarized the lecture. They were off
with all of them asking Stephen his main points. Only the announcement that
supper was ready ended the lively discussion.

Following in Paul's footsteps, when the the food was on the table, James
looked around, "What a wonderful gathering. We are all blessed by the
family and circle of friends. We are blessed with the abundance of food and
to Matt who did a lot of the cooking. Especially, we welcome Michael back
with us and are pleased to welcome Stephen. A wonderful evening of
fellowship and sharing. Dig in."

For Stephen, that touch said it all. Not religious but a blessing and
thanksgiving for so many things. He could only hope that he would be
allowed to join this group. The rest of evening was the same with lively
talk and intellectual stimulation. He had a chance to talk in detail to
Jason about his upcoming first year at University. When they left, feelings
had changed. No handshakes for Stephen, he received a hug from Matt and he
got a hearty hug and a quiet thank you from James. It was clear how close
they felt to Michael.

Both Michael and Stephen were high from the evening. As they arrived at
their cars, Stephen turned to Michael. "Do you really want to go to your
place?"

"Only if you come with me. We can get up early and we can go to work." It
was a very appropriate, intimate finish to their week together.

The next week was a whirlwind of activity. Both had commitments at work and
they stayed in separate condos until Thursday. They passed changes and
additions to the article back and forth through Dropbox. Somehow they kept
it all straight and had a finished first draft by Thursday morning. They
did some more work on Thursday night at Stephen's and they could see that
it would need proofreading and some final touches next week but it was
done. On Friday, they left early from work and missed the rush hour. They
were two and half hours from home when they decided that they would find a
place 'to shack up' for the night. In fact, Stephen knew of a very good
hotel with a first class restaurant that was only an hour from the cottage
and unkown to Michael, he had made reservations for two.

For both, it was a new experience to check into a hotel as a couple. It was
a kind of a coming out for both of them. Supper was incredible; the time
together later even better. They were on the road by 9:30 the next
morning. Both were a little nervous, actually quite nervous. As it turned
out, they were the first to arrive. Somehow that took the pressure off of
Michael in particular but it also allowed Stephen to feel as if they
belonged there as he showed Michael around and he became comfortable with
the place. They had put their luggage in Stephen's bedroom. Luckily there
was a double bed. A little later, they heard a car on the driveway.

Stephen, "Show time."

It was his parents. His parents were cool in their greetings but not
hostile. Michael could tell that he would be under scrutiny all weekend,
especially today. Michael pitched in to help unload the car. He noticed
that both the parents looked into Stephen's room and could see the 2
different cases, both open, on the bed. Nothing was said.

"Mom, Dad, we have prepared a light lunch for you when you are ready. There
is enough for everyone when they arrive." It looked as if they had scored
some points. It was a good thing that no one else was there as they could
sit around and talk. The talk very slowly turned to Michael and his
family. There seemed to be a warming when they heard the Rosedale address
and that Michael was a corporate and forensic accountant. He regaled them
with a few of his accounts, especially Kevin and Paul's investigation,
using no names of course. He played up the undercover aspect in a funny
self deprecating way. They hung on every word. By the time the meal was
over everyone seemed more relaxed. Stephen's father even asked him about an
accounting question and Michael agreed to look into it for him.

As they were finishing, Eric and his family arrived. Stephen was glad that
they had come but he knew that it would be an uphill battle. Like Michael's
mother, Eric was not used to not having his way. They all walked up to the
car. Anne, his wife, greeted them and gave hugs. It was obvious to Michael
that Eric went out of his way to avoid a handshake with either Michael or
Stephen and he made no attempt to put people at ease. When Michael
attempted to help with the luggage, he was told peremptorily that they
could handle it. Michael visibly shrugged his shoulders in a gesture that
said that it was Eric's loss.

Michael was introduced to Eric's 2 boys, John and Peter. Both boys looked
well built for their age of 6 and 8. Michael made little comments to
them. Eric had the boys off doing something to interrupt Michael's time
with them.

As they all entered the cottage, Stephen winked at Michael and told him to
announce lunch.

"Looking at John and Peter, he smiled and said in a loud voice that when
everyone was ready there were cold cuts and salads for lunch. The boys
whooped that they were hungry. Stephen was carrying one of Anne's cases
down the hall when his brother looked in Stephen's room and muttered to
Stephen, "So he is going to stay in that room with you?"

In a matter of fact way, Stephen replied in an even voice, "Where are you
and Anne going to sleep? In the same room? The couch is damned
uncomfortable." His brother just gave him a disgusted look. Stephen smiled
to himself.

Lunch was a mad house. Michael did notice that Stephen's mother announced
that Stephen and Michael had provided lunch and it was delicious. Everyone
dug in with gusto. It was a really beautiful day and Stephen suggested that
they get the dock in. At that moment, Helen and family arrived. More
introductions and faces, David, Helen's husband and their young children,
Michael, aged 5 and Julie, aged 3. They had just settled when Robbie and
girlfriend, Diane, arrived. Michael was so pleased. He had been welcomed
warmly by Helen and family. Robbie was just a bundle of energy. He gave a
hug to Stephen looked at Michael and with a big smile, one to
Michael. Robbie had whispered in his ear that he was so happy that big
brother had finally brought someone to the cottage. The weekend definitely
picked up.

Michael was an old hand with docks and was right in the thick of things. He
was finishing up something at the end of the dock when he realized that
someone was behind him. It was Eric. Before he could react, he realized
that Eric was close enough that no one could really see what he was
doing. He suddenly felt pressure on his body and realized that he was being
pushed and he was headed for the very cold, May water. Almost by instinct,
as he started to fall, he grabbed Eric's arm and pulled him in with
him. Stephen had been watching and realized what was happening but they
were in before he could do or say anything. The two men came up to the
surface spluttering, cursing the cold and quickly headed for the shore.

There was concern on everyone's face with lots of comments. Finally Michael
managed to get some words out. Looking directly at Eric in a loud voice,
"Sorry, I must have lost my balance. Thanks for trying to grab me and stop
the fall." He smiled very coldly and as he passed Eric, he whispered,
"Fucker, don't try a stunt like that ever again." Then out loud, "Come on
Eric we need to change."

As he passed Stephen, he saw the look on his face. He looked him straight
in the eye. "It is taken care of. I said a little something to him when I
passed him. Please do nothing."

Michael dried up and changed. He went down the hall to where he could hear
Eric in his room. He went in. They looked at each other. Michael's face was
a cold mask. "Eric, I don't know what you were trying to prove with that
stupid stunt but you have choices. If you think that you can intimidate me,
don't count on it. We can be friends, neutral to each other or enemies. I
can live with neutral but would prefer friendship but you don't want me as
an enemy. I deal with crooks and adversaries as my living." He paused and
kept his look unwavering and cold. "This little piece of nonsense is in our
past and between us." He had an errant thought back to Paul in the meeting
in Kevin's office; Paul would be proud of him. He turned and left before
Eric could even make a reply. He almost bumped into Stephen who was just
outside the room. He put his hands to his lips for silence and led him out
of the cottage.

"Don't mess with Michael."

"This is between him and me. Please do not get involved."

"I think that you said it all to him. I am impressed, as usual."

The rest of day was fun. Supper was chaos but fun for all. At night they
read, talked and played games. Michael had lots of experience with his
sister's children and he ended up on the floor playing first with Helen's
kids and when they were off to bed with Eric's. He had challenged Peter and
John to a game of Sorry. The entire family could hear the antics of the
game as they yelled out sorry and groaned with moves made against each
other. Later, the adults played a boisterous game of Hearts.

As they went to bed, Stephen's mother, Betty, looked at Michael with
respect in her eyes, "Michael, thank you for putting up with us. I saw what
happened this afternoon. I know that Stephen is a lucky man." She gave him
a quick kiss goodnight on the cheek and was gone down the hall before he
could react.

That night as Michael got into bed the springs squeaked. "Shit, the springs
make a noise. I do not intend to be celibate tonight."

"Solution?"

Michael hopped out of bed and shed his clothes and took off anything that
Stephen had on. They turned off every light but the night light beside the
bed. They embraced each other with hands that were everywhere. Both muffled
any sighs of pleasure and took turns kneeling in front of the other until
both knew that they would not last long. They stood kissing while they
finished each other with their hands. Luckily there was towel in the room
from Michael's 'swim' in the afternoon. Stephen noticed a bit that they
missed with the towel. He finished the job with his tongue, sharing it with
Michael.

The rest of the weekend went without incident and both Michael and Stephen
had time to relax and just enjoy the time apart. They knew that their
coming week would be hectic. They had already decided that Michael would
stay at Stephen's to finish the article. They left the cottage in the late
morning. Michael could sense that the parents' attitude had become
accepting. Eric stayed at a distance, observing but not openly
hostile. They left feeling revived.

They were correct; the next week was hectic but totally enjoyable,
finishing the article and having fun doing it. Stephen emailed the finished
article on Thursday night to the publisher. With permission, Michael
emailed a copy to his father telling him that he had come across it in his
reading and he thought that he would enjoy it. They could discuss it at the
cottage in a weeks time. He did not tell him anything about the author or
the editor, himself, mentioned in the acknowledgements at the end. Who ever
read the acknowledgements?

Michael went to his condo the next week and found himself at a loss;
Stephen felt the same. They had spent much of the last three weeks living
together. It had been immensely satisfying. The emails and nightly
telephone calls just didn't seem the same. Neither wanted to speak out of
turn in case they other didn't want things to change. They had supper
together on Tuesday. On Thursday night, they made their final plans to
leave for Michael's cottage. Michael was owed some time off so he took
Friday off. Stephen had no commitments so they headed to the cottage a day
early. They had liked arriving first and settling in.

The cottage had obviously been opened at some point in the spring so they
only had to turn on the water heater and relax. They ate some lunch sitting
on the front deck.

Michael looked at Stephen. "Missed you this week."

"Your libido really is active."

"Not what I am talking about although I did miss you that way."

"So did I. Want to talk about it."

"Yes." Michael stopped talking and just looked at Stephen.

"Oh, so the ball is in my court." Michael gave him a little shrug and
smile. "I actually had this little daydream the other day. Quite
pleasant. You moved in with me for the summer because we are planning our
summer together and then we made decisions towards the end of the summer."

"I like your daydream. Decision taken?" Stephen shook his head
enthusiastically. Michael looked at him intently for seconds and then
rolled his eyes to side as he nodded his head toward the inside. They both
stood up as one. Stephen took Michael's hand and led him inside. They shed
clothes from the living room to the bedroom, stopping to kiss and touch
each other. Stephen was exuberant; Michael was filled with joy with the
decision that they had made. Michael stopped them and stood back looking at
the man in front of him. This wonderful man had just suggested that they
live together for the summer. Both were taking it slowly. He reached out
and ran his hand over his chest, down over his stomach and down his
thigh. He cupped his balls rolling them gently in his fingers. He loved to
see Stephen's cock become redder and move, twitching slightly up and
down. A little pearl of liquid was forming. He knelt and gently licked it
off, tasting like he would a good scotch. Stephen smiled and ran his hands
through Michael's hair, massaging the scalp.

Both had their eyes closed as they let the sensations run through their
bodies. They ended up on the bed in the room they had chosen. It was slower
and more deliberate than usual. They were in a 69 for quite a while because
it inflamed every sense. Tongues, fingers, especially fingers that ended up
inside the other and their delicate motion over the prostate. At one point,
they both stopped and looked at each other and just stared into the eyes.
Michael insisted that he would be on his back so that he could see Stephen
as Stephen entered him. It also meant his hands could roam over Stephen's
body. As his rhythm picked up and Michael was almost crooning, the
electricity was so great, he managed to get his hands between them and had
one hand on his balls and the other with just his fingers on his
cock. There were times when Stephen came all the way out but his head and
Michael stroked Stephen's cock lightly. That brought a loud number of
noises from Stephen's throat and mouth. Finally, Michael put one hand on
Stephen's ass and set the speed and timing. He watched Stephen's eyes and
face until it was mixture of pleasure and pain. He could feel his
climax. It was long and hard.

Stephen came out and was instantly sucking Michael with his finger in
strongly massaging the prostate. Michael cursed as his shots literally shot
out of him. He yelled out for Stephen not to swallow and in a very short
time they were sharing. It was so intimate and erotic.

They fell asleep for a while and when they awoke, Michael offered himself
for another round. Stephen obviously found it very erotic to find Michael
still slick and wet from earlier. The rest of the day was an anticlimax in
a sort of a way but both felt so close, physically and mentally to each
other that it was wonderful.

The next day, they heard the car come up the lane way in the late
morning. "As you said two weekends ago, showtime."

They gave the parents a hearty welcome. It was one of the advantages of
being there first; they felt as if they were the ones to give the welcome.

"Mom, Dad, I want you to meet Stephen Bourgeois."

His Dad looked at Stephen, "Why do I feel that I know that name?" Both the
guys shrugged their shoulders. His Dad looked perplexed.

They put their luggage in the cottage and his mother noticed that Michael
had chosen, not his room with a single bed but a room with a double. She
looked but said nothing.

Again they had brought lunch meats and salads. While the parents were
getting settled, they put the food and dishes out. They sat outside on a
beautiful day eating what his mother said was a delicious surprise.

Suddenly, his father started to laugh. I know why I recognized the
name. That article you sent me was written by a Stephen Bourgeois. Michael
you are something else. 'Here is something I found in my reading'."

"And your son did the layout and the graphs." They talked a bit about the
article. His father was very enthusiastic about the layout and analysis.

His mother, who had been sidelined by their talk, finally started on family
background. He told them where he was born and about his degrees and his
position at the University. Both parents were impressed.

Again suddenly, his father, the business man and accountant, "Bourgeois
Industries? Any connection?"

"My father started it. My brother runs it with him now. We all own a
portion of shares in it."

It appeared that Stephen would fit into the family very easily. Good family
with a good standing. Michael was more than pleased. He knew that he had
made a break through when his mother asked if they were going to make it
for July 1. Their answer was yes.

They moved into Stephen's condo over the next week. Both really enjoyed the
intimacy and the sharing of ideas and of each others lives. Michael became
involved with a couple of difficult cases that took a lot of time but he
managed not to ignore Stephen. He made a huge effort to do things with
him. June passed quickly and they were suddenly preparing for July 1 at the
Burtchell cottage. They always invited people from the city and from
surrounding cottages.

Stephen was simply introduced as a friend of Michael's. Michael had made it
clear to his parent that they were sleeping together in the same room and
that he would be honest to anyone who asked. No problems or embarrassing
situations arose. It was a huge party ending with their own display of
fireworks. Michael was always one of the people who took charge of the
fireworks and he conscripted Stephen as part of the team. They had a great
time. They had set the last display perfectly and it exploded as a
wonderful finale. When all the helpers had departed, he gave Stephen a very
long kiss for the help.

It became obvious very shortly that not all the helpers had departed
quickly. A few minutes back at the cottage, a young fellow in his late
teens approached Michael. It was Peter, a distant cousin, whose family had
a cottage nearby.

"Michael, can we talk. I happened to turn around as I was leaving the
fireworks pit and saw you and Stephen being very friendly. I am so
confused. I have to talk to someone."

"First, Peter, Stephen and I are not just friends."

"Ah, um, uh, from what I saw, an interesting friendship it would be, if you
were just friends. Sorry." He put his hand to his mouth, surprised at his
own forwardness. He also had a quirky little smile.

"Peter, a hell of lot closer than friends. Like your directness and sense
of humour. We can talk now or tomorrow. Tomorrow? Do you want to come here
or meet somewhere else?" They arranged to meet at a picturesque spot on the
beach at 11 the next morning with Stephen if he wanted to come.

Peter was obviously nervous the next morning. Michael immediately told him
that this was just between them. He joked that there would not be a big
internet posting after the talk. That seemed to lighten the mood just
enough.

"Michael, I am not sure if I am gay."

"A couple of questions. Why are you asking the question? What heterosexual
or gay experiences have you had?"

Dated a bit in high school. I did lose my virginity with a girl but I get
more turned on by guys. Did experiment with a couple of guys in early high
school but got scared off by possible comments or accusations. Don't know
how my parents would react. I am confused and frustrated."

"First thing, you have to determine where you stand. You are at
University. Join a gay club at school. Meet some guys. You don't have to be
in love. Go slowly. Be safe. Remember there are some guys out there who
seem great but don't really care about anything but themselves. A guy
doesn't want to use condoms, run fast. There are lots of other guys.
Unfortunately, parents have to be your last concern. You don't have to tell
anyone that you are gay. Hetero guys don't tell parents about their sex
life. Stephen is the first guy that my parents have met. They knew during
University but it was all theory until this guy. I finally forced the issue
and I am 31. If you don't find out, you will never be truly happy."

"I agree with everything he has said. Yes, yes, oh wise one."

"In the vernacular, bite me."

"Best offer all day. Here, now?" He gave Michael the look.

They were all chuckling and that had broken any remaining tension. "Stop
guys. You are making me horny."

"Oh for the horniness of youth. If this turns you on, you are gay or just
permanently horny. Come on back to the cottage for lunch. We met you on our
walk on the beach and we asked you to come with us." Michael's parents were
happy to have Peter for lunch. By the time he left, the guys had exchanged
telephone numbers and emails. All the other electronic addresses could come
later.

They stayed another couple of days and had a wonderful relaxing time. As he
said on the way home, it was his best stay at the cottage in years,
especially because Stephen was with him. They agreed it was great and
decided that if they could get some time at the Bourgeois cottage without
Eric and family, they would go. In fact they had a great summer and did
spend a couple extended weekends at Stephen's cottage with his parents and
Helen's family and no Eric. On one stay, Anne, John and Peter arrived
without Eric. They got to know John and Peter well and formed a good
bond. Both had to agree it was great. Both sets of parents seemed to take
to the partners, enjoying their company and interacting in a warm manner.

They met with Peter a few times and emailed regularly. He had taken their
advice and as he said, his suspicions were correct. They had invited him to
the city to go to the club with them. He became part of their new
circle. They had supper out with James, Kevin and Paul. Michael was
introduced to some of Stephen's colleagues. Suddenly, Stephen found himself
in the midst of getting ready for September classes. Michael found that
August was a bit of slow period but he knew that the autumn would bring on
new cases so he cleared all his loose ends and read a lot of the
literature.

Stephen invited Michael to an evening with the Economics Department in late
August. It was meant as a time for colleagues, spouses and partners to meet
old colleagues and make the new members feel more at home. It was time to
get to know each other. Michael wondered what it would be like; he was a
little nervous. As it turned out he had no worries. The Chair immediately
came up to him.

"Michael, from the night of Stephen's lecture. I remember people who
intrigue me. Stephen tells me that your degree is in Economics and Computer
Science. After seeing you in action at the Pub, I have to ask if you are in
the right business. That was impressive. I also want to thank you for your
additions to the article that Stephen published. He and we are getting a
lot of accolades. Sure you don't want to change fields."

"Sir, do you know what I do?"

"Stephen said that you are in accounting."

"My speciality is forensic accounting and analysis. You would have to pay
me a lot of money to get me away from my job. I am pitting my skills
against some of the best. As you can probably tell from my tone of voice, I
enjoy what I do immensely. "

"Tell me about your work." Michael did and left the Chair laughing and
shaking his head. "You certainly are a surprise, Mr. Burtchell. Welcome to
our little group and I am so glad to see one of our star members so happy
and alive." Michael looked to see Stephen making the rounds with grace and
charm. Their eyes met and both had just a little smile of
acknowledgement. It was a good evening. For some reason, he suddenly
realized clearly that he was here as Stephen's partner and he felt at home
and welcome. It felt really good.

Late in August, they were sitting reading quietly. Michael put down his
book and cleared his throat. Stephen looked up. Michael gave him a
quizzical look. "Had any daydreams lately?" Stephen looked at him as if he
were crazy. "How quickly we forget. Should I start to pack up?" More
looks. Michael stayed silent but had the beginnings of little smile. "You
had a daydream that we would stay together for the summer and then ...."

"Oh shit." There was look of shock and consternation on Stephen's
face. "Do, do, do you want to leave?"

"I certainly don't want to be an imposition." He was being a bit of a
bugger.

"I'll give you imposition." Stephen was on his feet in an instant. He knelt
in front of Michael and pulled his head down and gave him a kiss to
remember. That led to Michael's pants being opened and Stephen licking him
through his shorts. He was always so turned on by the sight of Michael's
erection wetly outlined in his shorts. Very quickly, his cock was out and
being licked and finally had Stephen's mouth around the head with his
tongue doing a lot of work. Stephen came off and stood up pulling Michael
up with him. He had Michael's shirt off in an instant.

"No fair. Here I am naked except my pants half off, sticking out," he
looked down at his cock sticking straight out "And you are fully clothed."

"Find a solution." Michael did. Very quickly, both were totally naked and
both were looking at the other with lust. Michael pushed Stephen onto the
bed and lay on top of him kissing and telling how much he wanted to stay
with him. Michael straddled him and reached behind him and slowly stroked
Stephen's cock until he was warning him that he was close. He loved the
look of lust and passion on his lover's face. He reached over and grabbed
the lube and in no time Michael could feel the head at his entrance. He
slowly pushed down and then very slowly pushed marvelling at the exquisite
feeling as Stephen invaded him as far as he could. Michael just stayed
still, feeling the fullness and the slight movements of Stephen in him. He
flexed his muscles so that he was massaging Stephen. Michael bent over and
kissed his lips and his nipples. He looked at him with lust in his face and
told Stephen to fuck him. As he started to move in and out, Michael's eyes
closed as he felt the wonderful feelings that coursed through him. Stephen
grabbed the lube and put some on his hands and then he started to stroke
Michael to his rhythm. Michael muttered, "Don't hold back I am close. We
can do this again in an hour. I want you all night. He could feel Stephen's
rhythm change and the look on his face told its own story. Michael could
actually feel the pulses and he very quickly followed with jets that went
to Stephen's chest and even one to his chin. Before Stephen softened,
Michael licked the cum off his chin and kissed him.

They lay together in blissful fog. "Michael, I want you here more than you
can imagine. I just took it as a given that this was permanent. Was I being
presumptuous?"

"Nothing could please me more."

"Let's talk later about arrangements. But together no matter where?"
Michael's only answer was to encircle his lover with his arms and kiss him
gently.

Michael finished moving all his stuff in a week later and after cleaning
and painting, put his condo up for rent. Stephen was enjoying his courses
and new students. They decided to go to the club on Friday night with
Peter, who was in town, James, Kevin and partners. It was pulsing with
energy as usual and Michael and Stephen really let themselves go. Drank a
bit too much, danced a little too wildly and were quite demonstrative on
the dance floor. Later in the evening, Michael went to the washroom. As he
was leaving, William, Stephen's student, came in. They looked at each other
and Michael was shocked by the venomous look that he got from
William. Nothing had to be said although he thought he heard William
mutter, the words fucker and something mumbled with the words regret
this. That put a little damper on things but they were leaving anyway.

He debated whether he should say anything. He put the thought
aside. Stephen was obviously very demonstrative on the way home and pinned
him against the wall in the hall at home. Their clothes were strewn from
there to the bedroom where the sex was passionate and intense. In fact,
Stephen awakened Michael in the middle of the night and entered him again
from the rear as they lay on their sides. It was athletic, loving and very
erotic. Michael attacked Stephen in the kitchen the next morning and they
ended up with Michael taking Stephen standing up. After, they had coffee in
the nude, touching and kissing each other oblivious to anything but each
other.

Eventually later in the day, Michael brought up the encounter but Stephen
just shrugged it off as William being William. Not to worry.

Michael gave Stephen an appropriate goodbye Monday morning. It had been a
very moving weekend. He answered his phone just after 11. It was a very
upset Stephen.

"Could we meet for lunch? It's important. I don't want to talk now. It's
about William."

"Damn, I'll be there. Name the place." It was a place off campus.

Stephen looked shaken. Michael didn't care where they were, he reached out
and held his hand. "Tell me slowly what happened. WE can find a solution."

Stephen had met William in the coffee shop. William's welcome had been
enthusiastic but agitated. In the course of the conversation, he admitted
that he had been upset seeing Stephen and Michael so friendly at the club
but he had convinced himself that it was just a one time meeting. He told
Stephen that he had developed very strong feelings for him and had expected
that, now that he was no longer a student, they could get to know each
other better. Stephen had been evasive but had gently tried to tell him
that his rule applied to ex students as well. In short, William had become
a little steely and suggested that they could be friends or he could do a
lot of damage to Stephen. Stephen at that point had made an excuse that he
had a meeting and left. He suggested that William could email him and gave
his email address.

"Michael, he seemed very intense and off balance. He really upset me and it
was mostly his demeanour." Michael remembered the look that William had
given him in the washroom at the club.

"Good move suggesting email. First, send me every email you get from
him. I'll store them and I am going to talk to James and send them to him
as well. He has a section in the firm that deals with this sort of
problem. Stephen, we shall sort this out."

"Michael thank you so much. I feel better already just letting someone know
what is happening. Shit it seems like a nightmare that can't be happening
to me."

James said that, of course, he would take the case personally. James sent
an email suggesting how to word an email to get a response to show exactly
what William was thinking and planning. It had to be subtle to keep William
from making an extreme response or a rash action. He actually gave him some
wordings and suggestions. William's emails became more upset and
demanding. He finally sent one with a definite threat that he would claim
that he had a sexual relationship for good marks. That was a break that
James was hoping for.

James had given some suggestions as to courses of action, one of which was
hiring a private detective to find some students who might back up
Stephen's position. They decided to do that. Apparently, James had a fellow
with a youthful appearance who would try to make a contact with William and
some of his buddies.

Michael realized that Stephen was really tense and distracted. He
convinced him to go to Toronto and take in some shows and good
restaurants. They left on Friday morning as Stephen had no classes. Michael
was owed some time for overtime. They contacted no one and just
relaxed. The had a wonderful weekend of walking the city, galleries,
theatre and restaurants. Their love making was slow, quiet and very
intense.

When they arrived back home, he took Michael into his arms. "Michael, thank
you so much, I really needed this weekend. I needed you. You are so good
for me. I can't thank you enough." He put his hands over Michael's
mouth. "No response needed."

As usual, he was very quickly back into the thick of it. Stephen was able
to deflect an early email from William by saying that he had been out of
town on academic business. At midweek, emails became more strident and
demanding but also more intimidating. These were quickly passed on to
James. They found out that his man had found out where William and some
friends we're going on Friday night. He would be there, by chance of
course; he was straight and looking forward to the adventure. Michael and
Stephen did not feel quite as excited about the adventure. They went out
for supper and an early night, excellent in its own way. But Michael could
see that the ordeal was taking its toll on Stephen. His moods were like a
roller coaster. He was often distant or off in another world; at other
times happy and engaged. It was always with him. He verbalized several
times that his reputation and career were on the line.

Michael answered his phone on Monday morning. It was an ebullient
Stephen. The fellow had plied William and buddies with drinks and had
recorded some of the self incriminating statements made by William. In
addition, one of the guys who was there, an ex student of Stephen's, who
realized how wrong William's actions were, had agreed to give a statement
exposing the lie that William was fabricating.

On James' advice, Stephen had sent an email on Monday, suggesting a meeting
in his office the next day. He would start the meeting by himself and James
would come in to avoid William being scared off seeing two people
there. James had a complete dossier for the meeting.

William acted as if Stephen had agreed to his advances with almost a look
of triumph. Stephen managed small talk, willing James to enter his
office. He was so relieved to hear the knock. He stood up and let James in.

James took a seat beside William who was looking confused.

James knew that he had to take control of the situation very quickly to
stop any chance of William leaving. He had rehearsed in advance. Speaking
slowly, softly but very clearly, he identified himself. Then he stated his
opening remarks. "If you value your position at the University, I advise
you to listen very closely. It could save your career here and a very
expensive civil lawsuit." He emphasized the last words.

Stephen could see William tense and his look lost a lot of its earlier
triumph. James referred to emails and presented hard copies. He read the
deposition of Stephen's ex student. He played the tape from the club and
list of all the people present.

"You have spying on me. I'll take you to court."

"Do not even try that crap on me. You have been threatening one of the
finest men I have met, threatening to ruin his career. For what, a
relationship that he has told you was not appropriate. I have read his
emails to you. If you want to refresh your memory; I have them here. He was
trying not to hurt you and to let you down easily while you were bloody
well threatening him. If this meeting does not go as it should, if we hear
any further rumours, I shall make an immediate appointment with the Chair
of the Department with all of this documentation. William, your choice." It
was said it all quietly, often with emphasis but there was iron in his
voice.

William looked totally deflated. He looked abjectly at Stephen. Stephen
actually felt sorry for him in a strange sort of way but he realized now
was not the time to voice it. James had William sign a statement that
Stephen had never approached him and had never had anything but an
appropriate teacher student relationship. He left looking chastened.

After his thanks to James for his delicate handling of the situation, he
phoned Michael.

"Dinner out tonight at one of the best restaurants in town, on me."

"I take it that things went well."

"Michael, you should have seen him in action! He was incredible. I have so
much to thank you and him for." His voice began to crack as his emotions
got the most of him.

Michael asked him if he wanted to be picked up to get out of the
University. "I have a class in an hour and a half. It is totally
prepared. I think I'll just wander around outside, pull myself together and
go do what I love doing; teach my students."

"What do you have this afternoon? I could take some time and we could take
a bike ride, come home and go for supper."

"What a terrific antidote to this. Yes! See you at home at ...?"

"See you at 2. I am so invigorated."

Michael wanted to get him out of the University and somewhere that he
wouldn't have to talk and could just concentrate on riding and being
absorbed in nature. Assessments and talk would come later. When Stephen
arrived at the condo, Michael had everything ready to go. He wanted no
delays. When Stephen started to talk about the ordeal, he stopped him with
a kiss and whispered that they would talk about it over coffee on their
ride.

"Michael, your kiss will be enough for now."

They were lucky; it was a magnificent autumn afternoon. He parked the car
and started their ride in the same park where they had gone for walk that
first time so many months ago. It had good memories and was a lovely
spot. Michael rode ahead and set a good, hard pace. Stephen never missed a
beat; he was always right behind. Michael remembered a coffee shop that was
a few miles away and they stopped there for a coffee.

"You are a very wise man Michael. You knew exactly what I needed after
these weeks that were almost claustrophobic. I had a really good class
today. I was so energized that they must have felt it. There were questions
and discussions as never before. I am so glad that I stayed and so glad
that I am here with you. The bicycle ride has been exhilarating. Let's go
home; there is more that I want to do before dinner. He rubbed his leg
against Michael's. "If I do that much more, I may not be able to stand up
without absolute embarrassment."

Michael smiled knowingly, "Use your helmet strategically. So you have plans
do you? Maybe I have to go back to work?"

"You have to change out of your riding gear and I guarantee that you will
not make it out of the condo. That is a threat, a promise, whatever word
you want."

The sun was out and the temperature was a beautiful 19 C with just a light
breeze. The sun was shimmering on the little ripples in the water. They
stopped several times to listen to the water lapping on the shore and to
look at the ducks and geese getting ready to migrate south. At one point,
they looked in all directions and with no one in sight they kissed. It
started tenderly but became passionate very quickly. When they broke the
kiss, Michael scanned Stephen's body and smiled. "Definitely helmet
time. Stephen, lovely outline." He gently traced the outline with his
fingers and then jumped on his bicycle.

The word, tease, came out as a hiss from Stephen but Michael was already
pedalling fast down the bikeway.

The shower was erotic. The fondling in front of the bathroom mirror was
gentle and left them both highly sexually charged. They walked, arms around
each other, down the hall to the bedroom. They must have spent many minutes
standing beside the bed, kissing and touching every part of the others
body. Fingers were wet in mouths and used to probe deep inside the other.

Stephen looked at Michael. "Thank you for all the little things that you
have done over the last weeks. Toronto. Dealing with my moods. The meals
when I just didn't have the energy. The wonderful bike ride this
afternoon. You are a remarkable man."

They lay on the bed looking at each other. Michael decided that it was
time. "You do those things for a person that you care for, especially when
you happen to be in love with him."

"Michael." Stephen stopped to get his emotions in check. "I was attracted
to you the evening that we met. Do you know how long that month was? I had
almost given up. That night and the morning after the lecture, I made up my
mind but I was determined not to go too quickly. That breakfast was so
wonderful." He paused. "My love."

Michael looked into those beautiful brown eyes that were becoming moist
with emotion. He kissed them tasting the saltiness of the tears. Then he
kissed Stephen again. There was no need for more words. At times, it was
gentle; at others it was passionate. Each was consumed by the other. They
could not get enough. They lost track of the number of times that they
stopped because they were too close. By the time they climaxed, any touch
sent sparks through their bodies. Michael had been in Stephen but when the
finish came, Stephen was in Michael. Stephen's eyes expanded as he started
and he whispered the word, Michael, with such love and intensity. They were
ecstatic.

As both agreed in the years to come that it was that late afternoon that
confirmed and really started their life together. They always laughed that
they never made it out for dinner that night. In fact, they grazed on what
ever food was around between touches, kisses and other rounds of love
making.

They had their wills and Powers of Attorney rewritten and eventually
decided that they wanted to make a public declaration and so two years
later, they were married in a service at Michael's parents' church. They
were touched and a bit overwhelmed by the number of friends and family that
turned up, even Eric and family. Eric had decided on neutral. They were
never invited to his home except in later years when Eric and Anne had to
take over Christmas dinner because their mother was no longer able to
manage it. In the years to come, Stephen was proud as he did become a good
role model to his nephews. Both of Eric's boys married and had children but
were staunch, family supporters for Michael and Stephen.

Their careers progressed. Stephen was given tenure and was eventually the
Chair of the Department. Michael became an acknowledged expert in forensic
accounting. He wrote articles and gave presentations across the continent
and overseas. It was especially exciting when Stephen was able to get free
and travel with him.

Their circle of friends and their family grew. Eric's youngest, John, moved
to the city with his new wife, Jen and very quickly joined them as part of
their expanding circle. Robbie, Stephen's brother, and finally a wife, were
frequent visitors in their house in the centre of the city. Peter grew
closer and he became more confident. He found a wonderful partner, Brian
who was welcomed into the fold. Their bonds with Paul, his children, Kevin,
Dave, James and Matt only grew stronger. They were able to meet the ups and
downs of life, knowing that they had the loving support of each other.
