Garry came to stay as often as his duty roster allowed and Colin arranged
his days off to match Garry,s. They got into the new way of both their
lives and enjoyed all that they did together. Colin tried not to worry. He
was loving all that was happening between them both, but at the same time
thinking it would end when Garry spread his wings and found the gay world
which was beyond what he could offer.

They shared some wonderful times and much to Colin,s concern they were
getting much closer each time they met. He had listened to the guys in the
gang, but even though the opinions were sound, he would in the end have to
deal with it himself.

After three months of seeing each other, Garry rang him one day and said he
needed to talk urgently.

"I going to Afganistan". Garry told him.

The two weeks flew by and it was their last evening together. They had made

are there, just come back safe".

"There is one condition Garry".

"Yes of course".

"If you ever go with another guy............"

Garry opened his mouth. Colin stopped him.

"If you meet another guy and.....well you know, I want you to take the
cross off before anything happens and IF something does, well just send it
back I want you to promise me that please".

"Yes of course, but nothing is Colin. Nothing will happen".

Colin just looked into Garry,s eyes and thought. God I hope not.

It was a difficult goodbye, but they all are, as you will know.

As the door shut Colin just lent against it and said aloud, "Goodbye Garry,
goodbye and then broke down in tears.

They emailed a lot and Garry told him as much as he was allowed to say. He
was going to be there six months and could not wait to get home again. It
wont be long Colin. I,m safe so don,t worry. I,m going to the Yank hospital
for a couple of weeks, we exchange sometimes and i,m going to learn a lot
from them. I will be off line for that time, but will write as soon as I
get back.

Garry moved to the American hospital and shared accomodation with a guy
called Stuart a handsome well built guy. They became good friends and
enjoyed one anothers company. After two weeks Stu and Garry were in their
room, Stu was on the top bed when he got down. He only had his pants on and

And there he was, just standing looking up at Colin,s window. He must have
been there for hours.

Half minute later they were in the tightest hug.

"I need a shower Colin and I need help".

" I think it,s best to close the door first"? Colin smiled at him.
