Chapter 10 The following morning, Jake called Luke to ask if the two lads he'd given the holiday tickets to could come and meet Luke. "They're so chuffed they want to thank you personally" Jake said. "There's no need" Luke replied but Jake said the guys had insisted and since the three of them were going back to London the following day could they come over that afternoon. Jake said he'd bring them over in his car. Luke agreed but invited all three of them for a meal so it was arranged they would come over about six. "You sure?" Jake asked but Luke said he was sure Adam and Adi would love to do a meal for all of them and make it a party. Jake agreed and said he'd bring the wine. Having given Jake the address, Luke then went to tell Adam and Adi and hoped they wouldn't mind him roping them into it. Needless to say neither of them minded and Adam immediately wrote out a list of items he would need to buy the following morning at the local supermarket that opened on a Sunday. Adi took drinks orders and they sat down to chat for a while having got Luke and Michael out of the chairs onto the sofas. "We really wanted to thank you Luke for donating the holiday to us. You've no idea how much that means to us" Michael said. "Yeah, the last nine months or so have been hell for us so this holiday is so welcome and we could never have afforded it so we really do thank you Luke" Sven added. Once in the kitchen away from Michael, Sven asked Adam how Luke had got his injuries so Adam told him about the car accident in which Luke's parents both died. "Suppose so" "Leave it with me" Adam said patting Sven on the back and taking him into the living room to join the others. "What you two been up to?" Luke said grinning when he saw Adam and Sven coming in. "Michael, you must come and see their bathroom. It's fucking awesome and is just what we need for you" Sven said excitedly. Michael looked at him as if he was mad but Sven was already wheeling over the chair for him and he and Adi helped him into it. Sven then pushed Michael off to see the en-suite with Adi and Jake following. "So what's all this about?" Luke asked Adam enquiringly. Adam then explained their dilemma about getting Michael upstairs and having no bathroom downstairs. "What they need is a vertical chair lift like the one we have in Key West and a wet room with the walk in shower. That would solve all their problems but they can't afford it and the Council won't dib up that kind of money" Adam explained. "What are we talking about do you reckon?" Adam gave him a rough idea of the cost involved and he watched Luke consider the matter for a few moments. He guessed what he was thinking. When the others returned and Michael was seated again, Luke asked him what he thought. "It's perfect but just two problems. One, getting me upstairs and two, the cost." Luke then asked Adam if he knew the make of the vertical chair lift in Key West. "Yeah; Adi my love get me the laptop and I'll find them on line" Adam then found the site he wanted and showed it to Michael and Sven. There was even a short video showing how it worked. "Jake, if your charity had the money available to pay for a lift to be installed and the bathroom to be done like ours, would it be possible to do that for Michael?" "Okay, this is what we'll do then" Luke explained, "I'll make a donation to the charity to cover the work. That donation will be made with a specific requirement that it is used for Michael. When Adi had taken the empty plates into the kitchen, Luke quickly explained how they'd found Adi in Leeds and brought him back home with them to London. The other three guys were amazed. Rob more or less agreed with Adam's ideas with a few minor changes. He also said he could arrange for a carpenter to do the door widening and fit new doors. "All looks very straight forward to me" Rob said having jotted down what needed to be done and sketched his plans for the bathroom. Rob then left and Adam walked outside to his van with him. "As I said last night Rob, Luke is paying for this work so email the quote to me. Also, use the same quality fittings as you used for ours." "I'll contact the chair lift company when we get back" Adam said as he joined the others.
