Chapter 43

The pool party planed by Shane had been canceled and two weeks later. The
next few weeks flew by as JW did his best to keep to his word and spend
time with his daughters; JW and Leah went to a water park for a day and on
the next trip JW took Kira to the Zoo. Both trips with his daughters
resulted in JW returning to Marcus and bragging about a few phone numbers

ugliest and shortest one he could find that was bright orange with blue

engine red. Marcus put JW's tie on him and straightened the knot at the

JW looked at Shane who was looking them over with his chin in his

Shane started to tell stories how JW acted around the station and the first

everyone.

When JW returned everyone was staring at him, JW handed the drinks out and
looked around, "What?"

Marcus grabbed JW's hand and pulled him down to his chair, "We are just
admiring how gorgeous you are." JW shook his head and pointed at Shane,
Tanner and then Marcus and explained why each guy was better looking.

Tanner sat up, "Your so humble it makes you retarded. JW your simply
gorgeous, you are not only the hottest guy here you are the hottest guy I
have ever seen and you can't argue with me over that. Your build is
perfect, your abs would make a god jealous and then that smile.... You are
simply perfect."

JW looked at Marcus who was glowing when JW looked back at Tanner, "So what
makes you an authority on someone being good looking?"

Marcus slapped JW in the back of the head, JW winced and Shane laughed,

Marcus coolly said, "For being rude. Tanner is paying you a huge complement

Tanner laughed, leaned back in his chair and flipped his sunglasses down

lot of money it would be easy to get you to the top. Shane was right when

JW looked stupidly at Marcus and Marcus slapped him in the back of the head
again, "Told You. Now you never argue with me again." JW rolled his eyes
and Shane was laughing.

JW had three more beers and finally was relaxed as the next guest
arrived. JW did his best to keep up the small talk but he let Marcus talk
for both of them. JW could feel the sun burn already on his chest so he
asked Shane to grab a towel and lay with him on the side of the pool. JW
followed Shane to the side of the pool and laid his towel out and laid down
next to Shane. JW was impressed with how good of shape Shane was in, being

Shane smiled and the two of them watched the group of people talking with

how did you and Tanner met? And how long have you been together?"

Shane rolled his head to look at JW, "Well we have been together for almost
a year now and we met online. But before Tanner I was with a guy for over
fifteen years, we were going strong and then one day he got sick, we went
to the doctor. The doctor explained that he had HIV and had it for a long
time. Terry died a few months later and that was four years ago. I some how
did not contract the virus."

JW shook his head, "I didn't sayÉ"

Shane cut him off, "But I was becoming miserable and had to get out of my
self built tomb. I stumbled into Tanner, who like Marcus for you, was a god

him to people that he had met JW was dragging his feet and starting to piss

JW looked at the group of people watching when he saw Mack laughing his ass

JW looked confused and Marcus said, "You were being a bitch earlier and
rude. You good now?"

JW nodded his head, "I am good now."

The two of them climbed out of the pool and Marcus was walking to grab his
towel when JW wrapped his arms around Marcus and picked him up and walked
over to the pool and jumped into the pool with Marcus. Marcus and JW dunked
each other a few times before finally climbing out of the pool for the last
time.

JW looked around and saw a couple of groups of people talking to each other
and he leaned over to Marcus, "What are they whispering about?"

Marcus smiled, "Me probably, they think I am hot as hell."

Marcus smiled big, "Hell yes they were, they were checking both of us

walked up to JW with two plates of food and pulled a chair up. JW handed
his plate off to Mack and then stood up to get his own hotdogs and burgers.

When JW returned Mack was laughing his ass off, "JW this guy here is a

did not expect that, you guys are not the typicalÉ"

Mack stopped talking and looked at Marcus, Marcus grinned and with a mouth
full of food said, "Flaming queen?"

Mack laughed and nodded his head as he took another big bite from a hot
dog. Mack swallowed and laughed, "Marc you should have seen this guy the
last few years, hell I thought he was a serial killer for a long time. JW
would not say a word to you, but the nice thing was if you told him to do
something you wouldn't see him again until it was done and done right the
first time. So everyone just took him for what he was, a damn good worker
bee."

Mack put his hand on JW's shoulder, "In fact that is the only thing that
kept you from being booted out of the station. You did such good work and
so much of it that after a while we all realized that without you around we
would have to do a lot more around the station."

Marcus laughed and JW swallowed his food smiling, "Wait your telling me
that I have just been your bitch the last few years at the station?"

Mack laughed hard, "Hell yes you have and a damn good one at that."

Shane walked over to see what all the noise was and put his hands on JW's
shoulders, "Enjoying your self finally JW?"

JW looked up and grabbed Shane's hand, "Yes actually, thank you for
inviting me."

 Mack interjected, "Well the gig is up now, JW knows that he has been our
bitch for the last two years."

Shane laughed and said sarcastically, "Why did you tell him!" The three
started talking Marcus stood up, gave Shane his chair and walked over to
talk with Tanner.

Marcus walked up and introduced himself to the people Tanner was talking
to. Tanner pointed at JW, "This is the guy who is dating that guy," then
Tanner pointed at JW.

There was a quiet `ohhh' that was whispered and someone asked, "Where in
the hell did you find him at? We use the word all the time but that man is
a stud if there ever was one."

Marcus turned to a guy who was introduced as Alfonso who made the comment,
"I found him at a gym. The second I saw him I almost had a heart attack."

The group around Tanner started asking a lot of questions, but Marcus was
way to happy to talk about JW. Tanner grabbed Marcus and pulled him to the
side, "So is JW doing better now? He looked horrible before you pushed him
into the pool."

Marcus shrugged, "Well JW is a really private person and he is still having
a hard time adjusting to his sexuality. You know some people are really
confident? Well JW is the exact opposite; he has really struggled with
this. Even though he is finally realizing that just because he is gay that
does not mean that he has to change as a person. JW only confronts things
if he is challenged some how."

Tanner nodded his head, "Oh I get it and if he is not threatened you will
not see the real JW. Well I could not begin to tell you all the praise and
frustration JW has given Shane. Shane said he almost fell over dead when

Marcus smiled, "Well thanks, I know JW had a major crisis with his
sexuality, he was in hell for weeks."

Tanner nodded his head, "Thank god I didn't have to deal with that, I was
gay from day one and never had any other questions."

Marcus laughed and looked at JW and noticed he needed a beer, "JW you want
another?" JW stood up, did his best to not be noticed, grabbed two beers
real quick and walked up beside Marcus. Marcus kissed JW cheek and thanked
JW for beer. JW hesitated as Marcus wrapped his arm around JW, JW looked
down at the ground.

Tanner walked in front of JW and stood in front of him, "Will you do
something for me?" JW barely looked up from the ground and nodded his
head. Tanner crossed his arms across his chest, "OK, first thing I want you
to do is walk over here a few feet and get away from your security blanket
Marcus." JW looked up to Marcus and Marcus shrugged and then pushed JW to
Tanner.

Tanner walked around slowly and then started to push, pull and poke at JW
until JW was holding his head up, shoulders back and standing tall.

Tanner nodded his head and then walked back in front of JW and whispered so
no one else could hear him, "Are you nervous?" Tanner could see JW was
actually starting to tremble; Tanner whispered again, "I will not force you
to do anything that you don't want to do but will you do a few things for
me, they will seem weird but they will help."

JW gave a slight nod of his head and Tanner lifted his chin again, "Are you
happy?"

JW eyes darted to Tanner, "What?"

Tanner crossed his arms across his chest, "Are you happy?" JW said
hesitantly yes and lowered his head again. Tanner lifted JW's chin again,
"Keep you damn head up, there is nothing to be ashamed of! Now do you love
Marcus?"

JW stared at Tanner's feet and said yes and then quickly lifted his head
back up. Tanner walked up and whispered to JW again, "Do you really love
Marcus or is this just some kind of show?" Tanner saw the fire in JW's eyes
and knew he finally hit a nerve, JW gritted his teeth and quietly said,
"Fuck yes I love him, what are you getting at?"

Tanner grinned and moved as close as he could to JW and whispered, "Then
why are you so afraid of what people think of you? Why are you so being so
weak then?"

JW flexed his whole body in angry and said loudly, "What the fuck did you
just say?"

Tanner smiled evilly and looked at Marcus, "What is your problem JW? If
your not a weakling why don't you show us then?"

JW relaxed and held his head to the side and said quietly, "What? How?"

Tanner laughed and threw his hands at JW, "You are weak and need to grow a
pair!"

JW immediately reacted to Tanner and towered over him, Tanner was worried
he just went to far and was going to get punched. Shane jumped to his feet
and Tanner held up his hand to stop Shane, "JW you are with good people
here who love you, understand your problems, have been in your shoes. You
just have to let go and open up to who you really are."

JW was trembling over Tanner and standing right in front of him when he
angrily said, "How the fuck am I suppose to do that?"

Tanner quietly said, "Tell them who you are, stop ignoring everyone, accept
their praise, let them see and touch your rocking body, don't hide who you
are, show off your smoking hot boy friend, be proud of everything you are
and tell the whole world that you are here and don't give a shit what
others think because you can beat their ass into the ground."

JW looked stupidly back at Marcus who looked excited and confused. JW
looked back to Tanner, "What am I suppose to do? Its easy to do here with
other gay men around. So what about out there?" JW was pointing into the
air and at the horizon.

Tanner laughed, "Tell them!" and pointed across the pool to an empty spot
in the back yard.

JW looked to Tanner, "There is no one there?"

Tanner smiled and pointed across the horizon, "They don't know, tell them

JW laughed, "And how do I tell them?"

Tanner smiled and coolly said, "You could yell it to them!"

JW shook his head and turned to walk back to Marcus, Tanner quickly grabbed
JW's wrist and turned him around, "Are you being weak again?"

JW raised an eyebrow and with a blank face said, "Do you want your ass
beat?"

Tanner grinned, "Only a man could beat my ass, not weakling."

Fire ran across JW's eyes again and Tanner pushed him one last time,
"Listen this will be good for you if you just do it. Take all your pain,
hate, fear, embarrassment, shame, and every bad thing that anyone has ever
said about you or you thought they said about you and just let go of it
right here and right now. Just tell them who you are, for fuck sakes take
control for once in your life, stop being so weak."

JW pushed Tanner to the side and walked to edge of the pool and let loose
an extremely loud and painful yell followed by him yelling he was gay and
didn't care what anyone thought. The act caught everyone off guard and
startling even Tanner.  Tanner was not expecting this strong of a
reaction. Everyone had been watching the exchange between Tanner and JW,
everyone was watching eagerly and was just as shocked when JW let lose.

 JW stood tall looking across the horizon, his hands at his hips, when
Marcus walked up to him and put his hands on his shoulders, "Feel better?"

JW turned around, wrapped his arms around Marcus and kissed him
passionately. For the first time in JW and Marcus relationship JW showed
his feelings in public. The moment was short lived because Mack was
laughing to hard.

Shane turned to Mack and angrily said, "What are you laughing at?" Mack
barely able to breath and hands on his knees said, "I don't know if he got
anyone's attention but every god damn dog with in five square miles is
barking right now."

JW along with everyone else listened to the neighbor hood dogs barking,
Marcus smiled and went in for another kiss. JW hands went wild over Marcus
body while their lips were locked, Marcus had to push JW away, "Calm down!
Damn I am glad you found some peace but we don't have to fuck in front of
everyone."

Someone from the crowd said, "Oh yes you can and I want to watch."

Marcus shook his head and pulled JW to his side as they walked back to the
group. JW grabbed another plate filled with two more hand burgers and two
more hot dogs and sat down next to Marcus off to the side of everyone. JW
gave Marcus a hot dog and a burger and the two ate and Marcus kept looking
at JW until finally on the last bite looked at Marcus, "What?"

Marcus smiled and kept eating. JW leaned back and stretched out in the lawn
chair and watched the group of people mingle and talk to each other.

Tanner looked towards JW and Marcus and saw they were talking and holding
hands, Shane walked up to Tanner, "Is that what you were expecting?"

Tanner reached up and grabbed Shane's hand on his shoulder, "Well ya but
but not quiet like that. JW just needs to relax and take a deep breathe,
honestly I think this was to much for him."

Shane rolled his eyes and sighed, Tanner shook his head, "I am serious damn
it. I was talking to Marcus earlier today and from everything you have
described, honestly I think he is a time bomb. What you saw today was just
a spark."

Shane looked at Tanner blankly and then shook his head, "No, you just don't
understand us closet cases. That was nothing but JW settling into his new
shoes, so to say. That was good and I am glad he could finally get that off

Three." Shane started laughing and saw several of Tanners friend walking up
to him, Shane watched Mack walk over to JW and Marcus, so Shane kissed

he heard JW and Mack talking and Marcus looking at the two confused.

Shane plopped down in his chair when Mack asked, "So Shane I was about to
leave and was just saying my good bye's and I was telling JW here that if
he needs anything to just let me know. I had no clue he was wound up so

JW leaned back in his chair and stretched out, "All of you need to calm

Shane walked Mack out and returned to finish talking to JW. Shane was
