Chapter 63

JW pushed open the door from the garage and looked into the living
room. The girls were already gone to school and it looks like Marcus has
already gone back to sleep. JW walked into the laundry room, stripped down
and tossed his uniform into the washing machine. JW walked into the kitchen
poured a large glass of water and finished it while looking at the large
calendar hanging from the wall. JW shook his head and could not believe how
much was written up there and they still had to go to Shane's party in a
few days. JW's phone dinged with a text message and he looked down at it.

The message was from Shane telling JW that he was granted his day off; JW
shook his head and knew that Shane was pushing the limits for the amount of
time JW could take off from work. JW put his glass next to the sink and
walked towards Luke's room. JW pushed open the door to Luke's room and saw
him sleeping still. JW left Luke's door open and walked into his
bedroom. Marcus was laying on his back and snoring loudly, JW walked into
the bathroom and brushed his teeth. Walking out of the bathroom he saw that
Marcus was awake and looking at JW with sleepy eyes. Marcus threw back the
bedspread and sheets and JW climbed into the bed, "I don't know why you
sleep with the room so damn cold."

Marcus sleepily laughed and whispered, "It keeps the action under the
sheets." JW lay down and rolled over onto his stomach, Marcus rolled over
next to JW and rested his head on JW's arm, "So how you feeling?"

JW laughed, "Between getting that drunk, that dehydrated and getting fucked
that hard all god damn night!" Marcus laughed and ran his hands through
JW's short hair, "Hey now, you fucked me several times also and you sure as
hell were not complaining."

JW rolled his head over and laughed, "But that was five days ago now!"

Marcus patted JW's ass, "I am sorry. If it makes any difference I promise
to never do that again. Sober or not." JW closed his eyes and Marcus
watched JW fall asleep.

When JW woke up, he heard the horrible nose of a truck and the annoying
sound of it backing up. JW rolled over and pulled a pillow over his head
and tried to go back to sleep, but something was going on and it was
obvious to JW that he was not going to get back to sleep. He stretched his
arm out and found his charging phone and looked at the time. JW moaned,
"Fucking 10:00am what the fuck?"

JW crawled out of bed, shivered from the cold air in the room and tip toed
over the cold floor to his dresser and pulled out a pair of sweet pants and
pulled them on. JW opened the bedroom door and sleepily walked across the
house to the kitchen and poured a large glass of water. JW turned around
and saw Marcus outside on the back patio with Luke.

JW walked outside and Marcus turned as the door opened, "Hell I knew you
could not sleep to long with all that noise."

JW yawned and looked down the patio to where a lot of men were working in
the lot next to Marcus's, "What is going on?"

JW walked up to Luke who was laughing, clapping his hands together and
saying, "Dad! Play dad!"

JW sat in the lounge chair and looked over his shoulder at the work
site. Marcus put Luke on the ground and said, "Well someone is spending
some money because they bought all three lots over there."

JW turned back to Marcus, "I thought you had those three lots?"

Marcus shook his head, "No my house sits on three lots. Those lots are the
last three on this street." Marcus stood up and leaned on the banister. JW
watched Marcus and smiled looking at those incredible long abs and great
ass under his shorts. Marcus turned back to JW and repeated his question,
"Why are you wearing sweat pants?"

JW laughed, "The bed room is freezing cold." JW stood up and wrapped his
arms around Marcus and rested his head on Marcus chest. Marcus felt JW jump
and heard him curse, Marcus looked down to JW, "What is wrong?"

JW could not believe who he was looking at and if JW ever had an arch
nemesis then it would be the man standing a few hundred feet away right now
talking to another man holding a large piece of paper.

JW hid behind Marcus and Marcus started laughing, "What the hell is wrong
with you?"

JW laughed nervously, "I will tell you later but for right now I can not
been seen by that guy over there?" JW reached under Marcus's arm and
pointed at the workers.

Marcus laughed again, "JW what the hell are you talking about?" Marcus
freed himself from JW and JW turned and ran inside. Marcus shook his head
and picked Luke up off the porch and walked inside.

JW was in the bedroom and Marcus put Luke on the bed, "What the hell is
wrong with you?"

JW shook his head, "I can't believe that mother fucker is moving in next
door."

JW sighed and looked up to Marcus, "I am going to ask a horrible question
and please don't get angry at me when I ask ok?"

Marcus frowns and shakes his head, "I can't make that promise but I will
try my hardest. Ok?"

JW shivers, "Fuck its so god damn cold in here. Why do you keep it so cold
in here?" JW rushed around the room and was packing a bag. Marcus sat there
with Luke who was digging under the bedspread.

JW was walking by Marcus when Marcus grabbed his arm, "JW what the hell is
wrong with you?"

JW stared at Marcus, "Any chance or you being able to buy those lots?"

Marcus laughed, "JW what the fuck is going on?"

JW sighed, "I am serious! I will pay you back some how, but I promise I
will pay you back."

Marcus pulled JW to his side, "Babe tell me what is going on?"

JW pulled away from Marcus, "Get your shit and let's head to the gym. I
will tell you all about it." Marcus shrugged, stood up and walked over to
grab his gym cloths.

Backing out of the garage JW was sitting in the passenger seat. JW looked
over his right shoulder at the work site; Marcus watched JW jump and turn
his head quickly to face him. Marcus laughed hard all the way to the gym
and made several jokes at JW's expense until they were in the locker
room. By now Marcus could tell JW was serious and knew that something was
up. As Marcus was talking JW left the locker room and headed the gym
floor. Marcus walked out to the gym floor angry and cornered JW at the
dumbbell rack, "God damn it I am going to make a gigantic scene if you do
not tell me what is going on?"

JW grabbed a pair of eighty-pound dumbbells and nodded towards the incline
bench. Marcus listened closely to JW explain who he was talking about and
why he was so concerned about this mystery man through-out their work
out. Marcus marveled at JW as he worked. When JW was worried about
something or nervous he worked out three times harder than normal. As JW
started his set Marcus said, "Well that was cool that you were on the
Volunteer Fire Department in town. I can't believe you stopped that. You
know that is one thing I find so hot about you though."

JW paused in between lifts, "What's that?"

Marcus smiled, "You doing such dangerous work and now I know you did it for
free. That is so selflessÉand hot!"

JW cracked a smile, the first one Marcus saw today, "Finally you are
loosening up, but I don't get one thing?"

JW paused and looked at Marcus, "And that is?"

Marcus looked JW in the eyes, "What exactly is so bad about this guy?"

JW finished his last set and said, "Let's head to hot tube."

Marcus lowered himself into the hot tub and looked over at JW, "Ok so I get
that this guy is an asshole and something happened but I do not fully
understand what is going on."

JW laughed, "Truth be told it was my own fault. I started it and in fact to
his credit I think he even tried to take the high road once. But I was
going through hell with my wife at the time and things at work were not
going well and I could not see my kids. So I would never admit it to his
face but this guy Matt is brilliant and very well organized. And when I was
weak and wounded he went for my throat at the department and absolutely
destroyed me. I should have seen it coming from a mile away but then again
I look back at it and there was no way I could have seen it coming."

Marcus furrowed his eyebrows, "What do you mean?"

JW sighed, "Well I was trying to become Assistant Chief at the department
and on the election night when I said I was going to run I thought it was
in the bag. Well, when it came for the time to be questioned by the members
Matt unloaded on me and he had obviously talked to everyone on the
department because the whole department turned against me in less than
minute. I never had a chance and for the first time in my life I was
completely intimidated by a person." JW shook his head, "After the election
I tried to figure out what happened and this guy Matt was able to turn the
entire department against me. When I realized what finally happened I tried
to talk to Matt and he completely ignored me. When I finally had my chance
at the station he was absolutely relentless and brutal in his verbal
attack. Our argument got so bad that I just snapped and threw a punch."

Marcus blinked his eyes stupidly, "Why is this the first time I am hearing
about this? So I guess you got kicked off the department for hitting this
guy?"

JW shook his head, "No the worst thing is that he caught my punch, almost
broke my wrist and then did this Kung Fu Panda shit and threw me into the
ground." JW closed his eyes and dunked himself into the water; when JW rose
he looked at Marcus, "Fucker had me in a weird arm lock and people were
watching. Matt twisted my shoulder until I thought it was going to break
and said to the people who were standing and watching this 'If I break his
arm right now I am pretty sure he will get fired for assaulting someone and
you guys almost elected this hot head your Assistant Chief.' after that
Matt released my arm he stood back."

JW leaned back in the hot tub and looked up at the ceiling, "Matt
systematically dismantled me in less than two weeks. He made me look like
an idiot, he made me look like a pussy and he made me look incompetent." JW
looked at Marcus, "I left the next day and never wanted to go back."

Marcus furrowed his eyebrow, "So what does this guy Matt do?"

JW laughed, "By looking at him you would think he is lazy mother
fucker. But I find out a few days after he whipped my ass that he repo's
airplanes in third world countries and he also does government work."

Marcus raises his eyebrows, "So what the fuck is this guy doing at a
Volunteer Fire Department?"

JW laughs, "Get this shit. I sat in on his interview and he said and I
quote 'If there is such a thing as a soul then I figure this is the only
way I might be able to salvage mine.' Can you fucking believe that?"

Marcus leaned back in the hot tub and lifted his legs and rested them on
JW's thighs. Marcus felt JW's hands under the water start to massage his
calves and feet. Marcus sighed, "Well JW I wish you would have said
something about this a lot earlier because it's important to know this kind
of stuff about each other."

JW looked Marcus in the eyes, "What do you mean?"

Marcus shook his head, "You were assaulted and this is the first time I
have heard of this?"

The drive to school to pick up the girls was pretty quiet. JW talked to
Kira about school and how everything was going until they picked up
Leah. Leah had a bad day at school and JW was trying to coax the reason out
of her when they arrived back home. Marcus could tell by JW's body langue
that he was a nervous wreck and Marcus just sighed and shook his head. As
the girls ran inside and JW followed them Marcus walked out of the garage
door and looked at construction site next to his house and shook his head.

Off to Marcus's left he heard someone say "Hello?"

Marcus turned and it was JW's sworn enemy Matt. Marcus decided to confront
this guy Matt and he walked the few feet to the edge of his property and
stopped short as a short, fat man walked up towards him. Marcus looked him
over carefully and stared at his physical build.

As Matt walked up to Marcus he stuck his hand out, Marcus reluctantly took
Matt's hand and shook it, "I didn't mean to be rude. I was just looking at
your floor plans." Matt's grip was firm, his hands small but hard and
covered in calluses.

Matt smiled, "My name is Matt but few call me that. I assume your Mark?"

Marcus raised an eyebrow, "Nice to meet you. Yes I am Marcus, not Mark."

Matt nodded his head, "So what do you want?"

Marcus smiled, "Nothing I was just being nosey."

Matt nodded his head, "Figures. Your goddamn neighbor across the street is
a cunt. If I was you I would not say a word to that old bitch ever again."

Marcus laughed, "Mrs. Walters? She can come off as rude but she is a sweet
heart."

Matt shook his head; "Well there is nothing sweet about that woman. She
said you were a fag and is desperately hoping you and your partner leave."
Matt paused and then nodded at her house, "I told the old cunt to fuck
off. Other's people business is just that."

Marcus absolutely loved this man JW loathed. Matt never once asked a rude
question and never once even hinted at being bothered that he lived next to
two gay men. Marcus watched Matt closely through his sunglasses and saw
JW's mistake that he had made. Matt is fat and yes he is short but he looks
more like a bank vault covered in pillows. Matt had a huge chest and
extremely thick arms; he was wearing shorts and his calves showed legs of
power and quickness. Matt's large gut, thick neck and fat face was his
disguise and JW's downfall. Matt caught Marcus looking at him and joking
said, "I don't mind living next to a couple of homo's but don't get any
idea's!"

Marcus started laughing, "Oh you're not my type."

Matt sneered and fired back, "Who said you were ever my type?"

Marcus laughed, "So you have no problem living next to a homosexual
couple?"

Matt chuckled and spit into the ground, "There are scary things that go
bump in the night. A couple of homo's are about as threatening to me as a
basketful of flowers."

Marcus was put off by the analogy and interjected, "I don't think that's
appropriate of you!"

Matt spit at the ground and yelled at someone wearing a hardhat, "Look
mother fucker! Don't just do what you want. Read those god damn plans I had
made, that's why I had them made fuck stain." Matt turned back to Marcus,
"I don't mean to be rude when I say this but I don't give a fuck what you
think."

Marcus raised an eyebrow, "Why is that?"

Matt laughed, "Because you don't give a fuck what I think. Look I could
careless about you, your boyfriend or your kids. As far as I am concerned
more power to you because I assume you pay taxes? I assume you have a job?
Then why can't you assume to date and marry who ever you want?" Matt turned
back to the man in the blue hard hat, "God damn it Randy do not fuck this
up! I see you fucking up right now."

Marcus thought about what Matt said and he was right. Marcus felt his phone
vibrating in his pocket, Marcus reached for his phone and saw it was a text
message from JW "What the fuck are you doing? Please do not do this too
me!" Marcus stuffed the phone back in his pocket and Matt turned to him
again and Marcus asked, "I see by your shirt that your in the Fire
Department here. Is it all volunteer?"

Matt nodded his head, "Yes sir, it sure is. Good organization, good
people. You know they are always looking for people with a backbone and
know how to work. If you're interested I can show you around the Station?"

Marcus laughed, "Seriously? Well I never thought about it really." Marcus
paused and bit his lower lip, might as well test the waters. Marcus took a
deep breath, "You know I know a guy who was on the Fire Department here in
town now that I think about it."

Matt turned and looked over his sunglasses and asked quizzically, "You know
a guy on the Volunteer Fire Department in town but asked about the
department anyways! Well that's! If you know the department is volunteer
already, which you do because you know a guy, why would you ask about it
anyways?"

Marcus blinked stupidly at Matt and thought to himself this guy is way to
smart for his own good. Marcus stumbled, "Well he is not on it now and
honestly he never mentioned it much other than saying that he was on it."

Matt furrowed his eyebrows, "Mmmmhmmmm. So what is this persons name?"
Marcus knew that he had fucked up and wished that he could take it
back. Marcus tried to figure out a way to dig himself out of this hole but
quickly decided to not lie, "His name is JW!" Matt started laughing
hysterically and Marcus felt anger creep into his hands.

Matt finally stopped laughing and spit at the ground again, "Ole JW. Well I
will keep it professional. I have not seen him in a while. How is he
doing?"

Marcus forced a smile and gritted his teeth, "JW is fine these days."

Matt nodded his head, "You know I don't know how often you see him but you
should tell him to come back to the station. I personally can't stand the
asshole but we could always use a good hand and he was always that. So how
do you know JW?" Matt raised an eyebrow when he asked the question and
turned to face Marcus square. This time Marcus caught how wide Matt was,
not only because he was fat but also because his chest, shoulders and neck
were that big. Marcus figured Matt looked more like a gorilla than a man
and definitely not a man to underestimate.

Marcus looked up to the sky, "Oh I have known him since I started doing his
banking. Few months I guess."

Matt didn't express a thing and just grunted, "Mmmhmmmmm."

Marcus heard a small girl yelling and it was Kira running up to him. Kira
ran up to me and stopped a few feet short and looked at Matt
curiously. Kira finally walked up to Marcus and waved Marcus down to talk
to him. As Marcus got his ear to Kira she quietly said, "Dad said it was an
emergency and wants you back inside right now."

He stood back up, "This is Matt. He is going to be our new neighbor."
Marcus was not expected Kira to leave his side and when she did Marcus knew
JW was about to have a heart attack. Kira walked up and stuck her hand out,
"Hello Mr. Matt, how are you?"

Matt looked at the small child incredulously, "Hello and your name is
Kira." Matt gently shook Kira's hand and she looked at Matt curiously, "How
do you know my name?" Matt put his hands on his knees, "I can read your
mind." Kira laughed, "No you can't." She turned and started to run back to
the house.

Kira stopped a few feet away and spun around, "Do you have any kids?" Matt
laughed hard and called out, "No sorry." Kira stomped at the ground and ran
back towards the back of the house.

As Kira disappeared out of sight Marcus looked at Matt who had a gigantic
grin on his face, in fact Matt was smiling so hard that he started
laughing. Marcus asked quizzically, "What's so funny?"

Matt shook his head, "You know one advantage I have over most people is the
ability to remember almost anything I see and hear. It's almost like a
photogenic type of thing but not that good."

Marcus looked at Mat confused now, "What do you mean?"

Matt continued laughing hard, "I know that little girl. You did not even
notice that I said her name. I knew her the second she came around the
corner of the house." Marcus heart sank and noticed Matt was watching him
closely now.

Matt spit his tobacco on the ground and reached into his pocket to pull out
a can and pack his lip. As Matt finished he tucked the can away in his
pocket and stared at Marcus, "Mmmmmhmmmm," and started laughing
again. Marcus went to say something but Matt was grinning now, "You know
there are two sides to that story. But that is for another time I guess. If
there is another time."

Marcus shook his head and didn't want to get into an argument with the new
neighbor, "So how do you know Kira? Because she sure does not know you."

Matt laughed, "Oh I met that little girl about a year, maybe year and half
ago. It was right after her little brother was born. I think his name is
Luke and if my memory serves me right there is an older girl! Leah is her
name." Matt stared straight through Marcus who tried desperately to not
reveal any more. obviously was not working and Matt was now savoring the
moment.

Matt had a devils smile now and looked back at his property, "I could not
have bought anything better. This might as well be a gold mine traded for
the Eiffel Tower." Marcus rolled his eyes and stood there quietly as Matt
looked at Marcus house, "Well I will be nothing more than professional
now. But just remember there are two sides to that story."

Marcus nodded his head and turned to go back inside when Matt grabbed
Marcus by the arm and pulled him back around, "You know it's damn rude to
not shake hands with a neighbor when you leave." Matt stuck his hand out
and shook hands with Marcus again. Marcus was not sure but he thought Matt
used a little more pressure when shaking hands this time. Just before
Marcus was back at the garage Matt called out, "Say hello to JW for me. I
am sure he is thrilled about this." Marcus turned to say something but Matt
was already walking away and whistling Dixie.

Marcus closed the garage door and JW was sitting in the living room with
Luke in his lap. The girls were lying on their stomachs in front of the TV
watching cartoons. Marcus was surprised to see JW watching the TV looking
almost comfortable. Marcus walked over to the couch and sat down next to JW
who barely glanced at him and went back to watching the TV. Marcus sighed
and wrapped his arm around JW and could feel him tensing up. Marcus put his
head on JW's shoulder and an hour passed before they would talk.

Marcus was in the kitchen making dinner and the girls were sitting at the
table doing homework when JW walked in and stood next to Marcus, "So how
was the chat?"

Marcus sighed, "I am sorry but the curiosity got the best of me. You're
right he is strange."

JW stood there blankly shaking his head, "No strange is a skunk with
opposite stripes. What ever Matt is I know that it's not strange."

Marcus sighed, "He figured it out earlier I think. That bastard is smart as
hell, that's for sure."

JW nodded his head, "Ya and the second I sent Kira outside I regretted it."

Marcus continued to wash the veggies in the sink, "That just confirmed it
to him. He remembered your kid's names, do you know how?"

JW shrugged, "Never know with that guy."

Suddenly the doorbell rang and Leah jumped up to answer the door. Leah
returned holding a small stack of papers, "It's for you I think dad?"

JW walked over and took the papers and rolled the papers in his hands,
"It's a fire department application for here in town. That asshole is
making fun of me again."

Marcus glanced over at it, "What's that on the bottom?"

JW pulled out another application to the department and JW coughed, "Now he
is rubbing it in." JW threw the applications on the floor and stared at
Marcus. Marcus watched one loose sheet of paper float across the kitchen
counter tops and glide off to the floor. Marcus nodded at it and JW walked
over and picked it up. Marcus watched JW read the paper several emotions
flowed across JW's face.

Marcus finally asked, "What is that?"

JW glanced at Marcus and then walked to the kitchen windows to look
outside. It took JW a few minutes before he said, "It looks like Matt is
asking me to join the department again with you."

Marcus nodded his head, "Matt did say that you should come back because
they needed you."

JW started laughing hard and held his hands on the top of his head, "That
bastard is just doing that make a scene of us. He would have a field day
with me on the department again, not to mention a gay man in that
department wouldn't last three seconds."

Marcus shook his head, "You said the same thing about the Fire Department
you work for and look how wrong you were there."

JW shook his head and Marcus said, "We can talk about it later. Besides I
have a few questions for you myself." JW stared at Marcus and nodded his
head. JW said, "Girls get your homework or I am going to make you clean
your room!"

Kira angrily said, "I would rather clean my room!"

JW laughed and walked over to Kira and ran his fingers through her hair, "I
will have to find something much worse for you than cleaning your room."

JW fought with his daughters but finally got Leah through her homework and
settled for Kira finishing her work after dinner. Marcus was putting the
plates down on the table and JW cleared the table. Everyone ate quickly and
JW fought Luke the entire time; frustrated JW put Luke down in his high
chair and chomped down quickly on the dinner Marcus made that was now cold.

JW finished eating and went back to trying to get Luke to eat who was
having nothing to do with dinner tonight. JW was starting to show his
aggravation and angrily tossed Luke's food in the trash.

Marcus offered, "Tell you what, why don't you take Leah to soccer practice
and I'll stay behind with Luke and I will make sure Kira finishes her
homework?" JW rolled his eyes and put his plate in the sink and walked
away.

JW walked out of the kitchen and Leah whispered to Marcus, "What is wrong
with Dad today?"

Of course Marcus knew but he lied, "I honestly don't know. You know people
just have bad days sometimes."

Leah nodded her head made another observation, "I think he is mad about
something."

Kira chimed in, "Is it because of me and Luke?"

Marcus laughed, "Not at all. Your dad is just tired I think. Now go get
ready Leah because you know you have to go in a few minutes and you known
your dad will be ready to go." Leah ran out of the kitchen to her room and
Kira pulled a chair over to the sink to start doing the dishes. Leah
returned wearing her soccer uniform and grabbed the trash out of the
kitchen and took it out front. The second Leah walked back into the house
JW was calling for her and he sounded pretty angry at this point. Marcus
heard Leah run out of the house and into the garage and the door close
hard.

Kira looked up to Marcus, "Did I do something wrong?"

Marcus forced a smile, "No baby. You did nothing wrong, your dad just wants
you to do really well in school and part of that is doing your homework."
Kira nodded her head and put her hands into the sink to grab a plate. The
garage door opened and slammed closed; Marcus and Kira looked at each other
with confusion on their face.

Marcus looked over his shoulder and noticed JW and could tell he is
furious. JW was pacing back and forth in the living room in front of the
TV. Marcus handed the sponge to Kira and walks into the living room
hesitantly after drying his hands. He walks up to JW but does not say
anything, JW paces back and forth with his arms folded across his chest
when he stops he looks at Marcus with a worried look.

JW looks to Marcus, "That son of a bitch is standing right at the drive
way." Marcus looked at JW not know what to do or say.

It takes a few seconds before Marcus offers, "Do you want me to take Leah?"

JW looked over his shoulder at the garage and shakes his head, "No god damn
it! I just need to fucking man up and go right now."

JW turned and Marcus was only trying to be encouraging when he stupidly
reached out and slapped JW's ass and said, "Go get it tiger."

The second Marcus slapped JW he knew that he fucked up and JW jumped into
the air and scowled at Marcus, "Mother fucker! That is not funny." JW
turned and walked out of the garage door slamming it closed again. Marcus
stood in the living room and heard JW's tires squeal as he sped off down
the street in his Charger.

Marcus shrugged and turned to go back into the kitchen seeing Kira dart
around the corner quickly climbing the chair to get back to the
sink. Marcus walked back into the kitchen and stood next to Kira. Kira
plunges her arms into the sink and fishes for something to wash and finds
nothing. Kira looked up to Marcus, "All done."

Marcus smiled and nodded his head, "Good, now lets get that homework
whipped and then we can do whatever you want."

Kira bounced to the kitchen table fishing her homework out of her backpack
going straight to work. Kira finished in less than five minutes and Marcus
laughed, "Kira! What the hell? You were finished a long time ago. Why did
you wait to finish for so long?"

Kira shrugged and smiled, "Well I get to spend more time with dad that
way."

Marcus didn't know what to say or do, that was the cutest and most honest
answer he had ever heard in his life. Marcus stood up and asked Kira, "But
you could have finished and sat there and just talked to your dad
afterwards or color a picture for him. So why wait so long?"

Kira shrugged, "Well I just didn't want to finish before Leah because she
will get all the attention."

Marcus rolled his eyes, "Oh that's not true and you know it. You know your
dad hates homework as much as you do. So you should finish as fast as you
can, but make sure you do the best work you can do also. That way you and
your Dad can actually do something you guys like."

Kira frowned, "Dad does not like doing homework? Then why does me make us
do it and watch us do it and then go over it to make sure it is right?"

Marcus laughed, "I know it seems weird but your dad wants you to do well in
school and he knows that making sure you do your homework is just one
step." Kira nodded her head and Marcus smiled, "Now what do you want to
do?"

Kira stuffed her homework into her bag and looked up at Marcus, "Can I
watch something on TV `till Leah gets home?" Marcus nodded his head and
Kira darts off into the living room.

Marcus turned to Luke who was still sitting in his high chair and smiled,
"Well lets see if you'll eat anything now? If not I am going to take you
outside and run you into the ground." Marcus sat and Luke would have
nothing to do with the food that was in front of him. Marcus sighed and
pulled Luke out of the high chair and started to walk outside with him
until he noticed Luke pointing at something on the counter top. It was a
basket filled with fruit.

Marcus laughed, grabbed a knife and a handful of fruit and walked outside
with Luke. Marcus cut the fruit and handed it to Luke who was sitting on a
lounge chair with Marcus. Kira ended up outside and joined Marcus and Luke
kicking a soccer ball. It was almost dark and the mosquitoes were getting
bad when Marcus decided to head inside. As the kitchen door was closed Kira
had already pushed Luke up onto the couch and the two of them were already
laying down.

Marcus noticed Luke was a sleep and Kira was already nodding off, Marcus
checked his phone and saw it was Kira's bedtime but wondered where JW was?

Marcus thought about calling him but decided against it and walked over to
grab Luke and get Kira ready for bed. Marcus was glad when Kira went
straight to the shower and he was able to tuck Luke into bed without waking
him up. Marcus walked into his office and started to read through some
emails as he heard Kira singing in the shower Marcus started laughing to
himself and was reminded again of JW and Leah still being gone.

It was almost 8:30pm and JW was always emphatic about having the girls in
bed by 8:30pm on a school night. Marcus settled on calling JW after Kira
was in bed. It took another ten minutes before Marcus heard the bathroom
door open and Marcus stepped out of his office, "Kira head to bed now
please."

Kira started to object and Marcus cut her off, "Kira your sister is not
being treated any different. Leah is still out with your dad, now head to
bed please." Kira turned angrily and slammed the door behind her, Marcus
rolled his eyes expecting to hear Luke cry out any second. Marcus slipped
his head into Luke's room and saw that he was still fast asleep.

Marcus sent JW a text message as he walked into his office. It was a little
after nine when Marcus heard the door from the garage open and JW laughing,
"Shhhh! Be quiet I hope they are sleep."

Marcus saw Leah tip toe by and Marcus called out, "Hey what about me?"

Marcus laughed as he heard Leah's shoe's skid to a stop and she tip toed
into his office and whispered, "Sorry Marcus. Good night." Marcus waved and
Leah darted out of the office.

Marcus called out, "Wait!"

Leah poked her head around the corner, "Yes?"

Marcus stood up and spread his arms, "What you're too old now to give me a
hug?" Leah laughed and ran up to Marcus and gave him a quick hug and then
ran out of the office.

JW walked in and Marcus sat down in his office chair and looked at JW,
"Late night?"

JW started to blush and walked behind Marcus and started to rub Marcus
shoulders, "I got mobbed by the other parents."

Marcus looked up to JW, "What?"

JW laughed, "Well I was off doing my own thing and watching Leah's practice
when several of the other parents caught me off guard."

Marcus furrowed his eyebrow, "Oh really? What did they say or do?"

JW started to blush hard and Marcus grabbed JW by the arm and pulled him
down into his lap. Marcus leaned forward and kissed JW, "Actually this is a
bad idea because I think we might break the chair."

JW sat down on the couch and Marcus leaned back into JW's arms. JW sighed,
"Well I made an ass of myself to start with. I didn't exactly run away but
I did my best to avoid them."

Marcus leaned his head back and looked JW in the eyes, "You're kidding me?"

JW shook his head and laughed, "Nope it was really embarrassing because
they ended up running me down."

Marcus shook his head, "Why were you avoiding them?"

JW sighed, "I was afraid they were going to tell me Leah had to leave the
team or that we could not come to the practice's or some other bullshit."

Marcus sat there quietly for a few seconds before answering JW, "Is that
what they said?"

JW didn't answer and wrapped his arms around Marcus, "I just don't know how
to be gay! It's really embarrassing for me and I don't know how to act or
what to do or anything for that matter."

Marcus laughed and held JW's arms, "What did they say?"

JW sighed, "They just wanted to say hi and tell me Leah is really good and
wanted to know who else we were using to coach her."

Marcus laughed, "Well what did you tell them?"

JW ran his hands down Marcus shoulders and arms, "I just told them that I
practice with her on the weekends when she wants to play and you practice
with her on the weekdays if I am at work! Then we had bunch of other
questions and statements."

Marcus leaned his head back into JW's chest and looked at JW's muscular
arms, "So what took you guys so long to get home?"

JW laughed, "I took Leah out for ice cream with some of the other girls on
her team."

Marcus traced a vein on JW's arm with his finger, "So did you relax a
little and settle in with the other parents?"

JW laughed, "Yes! I was kind of forced to really. It's going to take some
time I guess! I still felt really nervous though." Marcus switched to JW's
other arms and slowly traced a vein in his hand, "As far as how to act or
say I want you to know that you have to be no one other than
yourself. Never change because someone says you have to change. Just be who
you are!"

Marcus sat up and climbed on top of JW, Marcus put his hands on JW's
shoulders and looked into his eyes, "You are strong, quiet, masculine and
private. Do not think for a second that ever has to change because you are
gay." Marcus leaned down for a long passionate kiss with JW.
