-------------------------Of Angels and Dragons------------------------

David had arrived early for the graduations ceremony because he wanted to
sit as close to the platform as he could. He was both excited and a bit
apprehensive. This day would bring about a change in his life. He prayed
that it would be a good one, but he wasn't absolutely sure how things would
play out.

The crossword puzzle book he had brought with him to while away the waiting
time lay unopened on his lap as his mind drifted back to events that had
taken place almost exactly three years before. He closed his eyes to
relive the happenings that had altered his life forever.

--------------------------------

It was early June and David was eager to get on the road. Graduation
ceremonies had barely ended when he jumped into his convertible and headed
for his house. Once there, he changed from his dress clothes to some
shorts and a tank top. He decided to go commando, so he wore nothing else
but a pair of flip-flops. Hanging free at last!

He probably should have gone to some of the graduation parties that his
students had invited him to, but he really wanted, no NEEDED, to get out of
town. He had to have some time alone to relax from the grueling spring
term and to sort out his feelings. It had been a tough year in many ways.

The van was packed. All he had to do was put the perishables in the cooler
and hoist the canoe on top. The swivel bracket that was fitted into the
trailer hitch made that last job an easy one for a guy to do alone. In
some ways, he was sad that he had to do this alone; in others, he was
relieved.

On the road to Wisconsin, David listened to some CD's for a while. He had
brought along "Big River" which was one of his favorite musicals. When it
got to Jim's song: "Free at Last", David thought about how that applied to
his life. However, he felt guilty about it because his marriage problems
were trivial in contrast with being enslaved. Then he thought of the
lyrics of another old tune, one that Janis Joplin had sung. "Freedom is
just another word for nothing left to lose..." That made David sad again.
He turned off the music and let his mind wander to the events of the past
year.

--------------------------------

It had been just after Thanksgiving when Karla had told him she wanted a
divorce. She had been offered a job as vice president of the company she
worked for. It would mean moving to Boston. He didn't want to move. She
had anticipated that he would not want to go because he loved his ordinary
little teaching job in Iowa. She couldn't understand his lack of drive.
She was an alpha and he a beta. They really weren't compatible. They had
lived more like brother and sister than husband and wife for the past year
and a half. They had no children; it was time to make a clean break.

Karla was not interested in marriage counseling or any attempt to save
their relationship, but she was not ungenerous. Her salary was already
double that of his, so she gave him the house and the cars. They split the
bank accounts and she was on a plane heading east before David knew what
had hit him.

It had been a lonely Christmas. David was an only child and had lost his
parents in an auto accident a few months after his wedding. Other than
some cousins, Karla had been the only family he had. His holiday dinner
had been a Healthy Choice frozen entrée thawed out and heated in the
microwave.

In the months that followed, David had thrown himself into a full schedule.
Every day, he went to the health club to work out before school. He spent
extra time at school to make everything perfect for his students. His
involvement in school activities increased as he volunteered in the theater
department. He even started going back to church. Somehow he felt more at
peace with his life when his days were filled and he had little time to
think about it.

--------------------------------

After several hours of driving and reminiscing, David stopped for a meal.
It was late enough to serve as his supper so that he wouldn't have to cook
at the first campsite. He could spend less time on cleanup in the morning
and he could get on the river earlier. It would also extend the food
supply.

It wasn't that he hadn't packed enough food; he had brought almost as much
as he and Karla used when they went on this trip together. He had even
left her mess-kit in with the rest of the gear. Again, he thought of her
and decided that perhaps he was better off alone.

---------------------------------

In their first year together, she had acted as if she liked this kind of
vacation. They had sunned naked at the campsites and consummated their
marriage over and over. She had been very playful, making it fun to
couple. Then things changed. The next year, she had been too busy with
her job and they had stayed home. They did manage a short trip to Vegas,
but that was mostly a business trip to which wives could tag along. Karla
was in meetings with other high-powered types all day while David was left
to fend for himself in a strange city. He had felt more like a trophy wife
than a virile husband. It was like someone had cut off his balls. From
that point on, their sex life dwindled.

--------------------------------

The public campsite was not at all that busy. David got out his little
domed tent, his sleeping bag, and toiletries. He would grab a fast-food
breakfast in the morning on the way to arrange for the shuttle.

He was tired from his drive, so sleep came quickly. The air was scented
with a mixture of pine and wood smoke. There were few sounds other than
the brook running by and an occasional owl calling to its mate. Life was
serene and uncomplicated here.

--------------------------------

After paying for the shuttle service, David drove to the place where he
would put his canoe into the river. He was a bit apprehensive about
leaving all of his equipment unguarded, but he had no choice since he was
alone. Again, it hit him that he had no one to share this with.

Fortunately, there was a middle aged couple putting in at the same place.
The lady promised to watch David's things along with theirs while the two
men drove their vehicles to the landing spot that they would reach after
several days on the water.

On the trip back in the shuttle van, the two men got acquainted. The older
man had spent some of his years working for an electronics company in the
city where David lived. They found out that they knew at least two people
in common. It was a small world.

--------------------------------

David sat toward the middle of his canoe on the special clamp-on seat he
had purchased to make it possible to handle the craft solo. Initially, it
was more difficult than he had imagined. He had always gone with someone
else. The canoe was really meant to be used by two people. But, after a
half hour, David was getting the hang of doing yet another activity by
himself.

Controlling the canoe without help took more energy than David had thought
it would. By noon, he was happy to find that he was nearing a vacant
campsite. He decided to make a short day of it and relax. After all, he
was on no timetable.

He ate a sandwich and a few grapes as he stretched out naked on a tarp in
the sun. These sites were very private and there was an unwritten law that
no one would come into the area if they saw a canoe tied up or beached near
the landing spot.

Having regained his strength, David decided to go exploring. There were
some high bluffs that looked inviting. This was the only place on the
river that had these cliffs and it seemed like a good idea to check them
out since he had the time.

David put on cargo shorts and his tennies to make the climb. It crossed
his mind that he might do well to cover his legs in case he got into some
brush, but he hadn't brought any jeans.

There was an irregular, but cleared trail going up the steep incline, so
David was able to avoid getting too many scratches. He had stuffed a
couple of granola bars in his pockets along with his camera and strapped on
his canteen. He felt that he might want a break when he reached the top.

The summit came into view at last and David could see that the scenery was
going to be worth the climb. He also saw a young man standing at the very
edge of the cliff. David spoke softly so as not to startle the guy.

"It's really beautiful up here, isn't it?"

"I guess," came the murmured reply.

"Hey, could you move back this way a little? I don't want to see you get
killed."

"What would it matter?"

"Well, I expect that your family would care and it would really spoil my
day if I had to see your bruised body at the bottom. I don't even know how
I'd get help. Besides, that's too good a body to waste."

The other guy stood there for several minutes as if he were trying to make
up his mind.

"Okay..." the young man eventually replied. "My parents would be happier
if I WERE dead, but I'll get back so I won't spoil your day. It's my
screwed-up body that got me in trouble in the first place or maybe my evil
brain."

David sat down on a nearby rock after pulling the granola bars from his
pocket.

"Here, have a snack and tell me what's going on; that is, if you want to."

The young man accepted the offer, sitting a few feet away. As David
studied him, he noticed that the guy didn't look much older than some of
the high school students from his classes. David had always found it easy
to talk to them, and they to him. Several had told him deep, dark secrets
that he kept in confidence. Young males seemed to instinctively know that
he was someone they could trust with the fact that their girlfriend was
late with her period or that they were questioning their sexuality. That
"father confessor" aspect of his job was part of what kept David in his
chosen profession. He heard many things, but repeated none of them.

"I'm gonna tell you, but I figure you'll want to PUSH me over the edge when
I'm done," the guy began. "My parents always told me that honesty is the
best policy and I was stupid enough to believe that they meant it. I
should have known better, but I thought they had changed through the years.
I thought they really were as open-minded as they said. Anyway, I came
home from my first year at the university and leveled with them. I told
them that I'm gay, and my father threw me out of the house. I mean
literally shoved me out of the door and slammed it behind me. Luckily I
hadn't unpacked my car. So, now what do you think of me?"

"I think you're a nice guy who got a tough break. I had thought you were
going to tell me you had robbed a convenience store to buy drugs or
something."

"No, I don't do that shit. Isn't it bad enough that I want to get it on
with other guys? Don't you want to beat me up or something?"

"Why should I? Is what you feel or do hurting me in any way?"

"No, I guess not. Why couldn't my parents have felt like you do?"

"I don't know. I'm sure my parents would have reacted the same way or
worse. I remember how rigid they were about anything sexual. God, I
couldn't even say the word sex in referring to gender without getting my
mouth washed out with soap."

--------------------------------

David well remembered the awful summer of his twelfth year when his parents
sent him to a fundamentalist boys' camp for six weeks. The old fart that
ran the place lived in a reality where angels, demons, and dragons were as
common as humans and automobiles. He was going to make sure that all of
the boys under his influence knew about the pitfalls of giving in to the
temptations of that world. His mission was to ensure that they remained
virgins until they were married. He actually ranted against masturbation
(he was so ignorant that he pronounced it: "mastrubation"). He called it
self-love and self-abuse. (Even as a preteen, David had a hard time
understanding how you could be abusing yourself by loving yourself.) The
fiery preacher tried to stamp out any feeling of horniness (sinful lust, as
he called it) by having the boys see sexual desire as a dragon that had to
be slain. All dragons were male and were evil. Every boy had one living
inside of him. The man had the kids nearly hypnotized as he led them
mentally to the dragon's lair. Armed with their trusty swords of bible
wisdom, they slew these beasts – driving the weapons deep into the soft
underbelly and watching the green cum-like substance ooze out. Well, maybe
most of them did. David was resistant. He always had a kind of soft spot
in his heart for dragons. How could all dragons be evil? If they existed,
then God must have made them. And God didn't create evil things. He
thought about pointing that out to the preacher, but figured he would pay
for it if he did. David could only bring himself to hide the beast in a
cave somewhere so he could be shut away from view, but remain unscathed.

--------------------------------

Aloud, David said: "Have you eaten lately?"

"Not since yesterday. By the way, thanks for the granola bar. It really
helps."

"Come down to my campsite and we'll eat a little fruit to stave off
starvation until I can fix you a proper meal."

"I can't take your food."

"No, but you can eat it if I offer it to you."

The younger man smiled at David's turning of the words. How could he
refuse an offer that was made in that way? The guy seemed to be genuinely
hospitable.

"Oh, my name is David, David Barker. I assume that you have a name too."

"Oh, sorry man, my name is: Andrew Worthington, the third. Isn't that
special? Anyway, I like to be called: Drew.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Drew," David said offering his hand.

--------------------------------

David led Drew down the steep incline toward his campsite. At one point,
he reached out to grab Drew's hand to keep him from losing his footing.
Drew appreciated the gesture of concern. Once at the camp, Drew's face
broke into a bemused smile.

"What?" David inquired.

"Oh, nothing," Drew responded.

"Come on, out with it!"

"Well, I was noticing how neat and precise everything is. Even the wood is
carefully stacked."

"Yeah, I'm a bit compulsive. Sorry about that. It comes from living
alone."

"No need to apologize. I think it's great. I would have done the same
thing."

David got out a bunch of grapes and a package of crackers for Drew to chew
on while he prepared an early supper. Drew insisted on helping, so David
let him peel the potatoes while he got the campfire going. Drew's eyes
grew large as he saw David take two big steaks out of the cooler. David
had intended to eat one tonight and the other tomorrow night, but he loved
sharing the prime cuts with someone who would really appreciate them.

"How do you like your meat?" David asked innocently.

Drew was about to say: "Hard and throbbing," but figured the innuendo might
not be appreciated.

"Medium rare," he answered with a smirk. "I don't want it squirming on the
plate, but I certainly don't want it cooked to death."

"Right answer," David laughed. "It looks like we have more in common than
being obsessive!"

David got Drew to slice and fry the potatoes in butter over a single-burner
propane stove while he was tending the steaks and putting together a salad.

They ate in relative silence. Drew had to pace himself so as not to inhale
the entire meal. In his recent distress, he had forgotten how hungry he
was. This tasted like the best dinner he had ever eaten. He paused for a
moment to mentally thank God for it. The meal-time blessing ritual that
his parents had insisted upon doing never meant much. Today, he actually
felt like thanking the Deity for his dinner. Food was indeed a gift from
above.

After the dinner things were washed up and carefully put away, Drew arose
and thanked David for his hospitality once more.

"I'd better get going or I won't find my way back to my car in the dark."

"Don't go," David said. "Do you have a place to stay tonight?"

Drew hung his head and shook it slowly from side to side.

"Okay, then, you can spend the night with me and tomorrow we will get a few
things from your car. Then you can spend the next several days canoeing
with me. I need another person to handle this beast."

Drew was ready to protest that he couldn't take David's food, but he
remembered the response he had received before dinner.

"Uh, I guess I could. I really don't have anything else to do except
figure out how I'm gonna live. It might give me time to make plans.
Thanks!"

David smiled at Drew and began to organize the tent for the night.

"We can open up my bag to sleep on and put this sheet over us. There is
another light blanket we can put on top if we get cold."

Drew helped with the bedding thinking of how he must smell after not
bathing for more that 24 hours.

"I'll bet I stink. Do you have some soap I could use?"

"I can do better than that. I have environmentally safe soap and an extra
towel, too. Sorry I don't have a spare toothbrush. Now that the traffic
has quieted down on the river, we can strip and wash off. But it may be
chilly!"

Both men got out of their clothes and waded into the river. It was not
very warm, so both experienced the "shrinkage" that men hate. They both
stole quick glances before that occurred and both were suitably impressed.

Drew felt somewhat self-conscious being naked in front of a straight guy
who knew that he was gay. He hadn't come out to anyone at the university
because he was afraid that it would make others feel uncomfortable to be
bare-assed in his presence. But, here was a guy who knew about him and who
wasn't making any effort to be modest or act like he was concerned. That
was cool.

Normally, David would have slept nude as was his habit; however, he wasn't
sure how Drew would react. So, he dug into his bag of clothes and produced
two pairs of raggedy old boxers. Drew was grateful for something clean to
put on. He was also relieved that he wouldn't be stark naked while sharing
a bed with this hunk. It was going to be difficult enough to control his
hard-on without that.

David lay awake for at least half an hour after Drew's breathing let him
know that the latter was in dreamland. David was again analyzing his life
and his motives. He wondered why he had taken to this younger man so
quickly. He felt protective of him, but was there more to it? Why had he
mentioned that the guy had a body that was too good to waste? Did that
sound like he was interested in it?

Drew certainly did have a fine body. That was even more evident when the
guys were bathing. David had compared their physiques. Drew was about the
same size as he was and well proportioned. With a little work at the gym,
this guy would be a knockout.

David had also noticed that Drew was well hung and nicely cut. David had
been spared the ritual of circumcision. In his youth, he had disliked
being "different" from most of his buds, but now he rather appreciated the
distinction. He always got a number of "looks" from other men in the
locker room and he didn't mind that either.

At the moment, it sort of bothered him that he didn't mind the attention of
other men. For the first time in his 26 years of life, he was questioning
where he stood on the continuum between straight and gay. Being a virgin
when he married, he had never explored any other avenue.

The other thing that kept David awake was trying to figure out how he could
help Drew further - after the canoe trip was over. This was too sweet a
kid to be tossed out! What if he had to turn to prostitution to survive?
David was bound to make certain that it wouldn't come to that!

--------------------------------

As David slipped into slumber, the dragon in the cave yawned and began to
stir. He was very hungry as he roamed the land. In a campsite, he spotted
a handsome young man sleeping. That looked like a tasty morsel! As he
came closer, his heart softened. He no longer wanted to devour the guy,
but rather to bring him pleasure.

His long, wet, snake-like tongue licked its way up the slender, sturdy
legs. The human shuddered and opened his eyes. He smiled at the beast and
pulled off his shorts to give it better access. The dragon smiled in
return and began to lave the young man all over. He flicked the stiffening
nipples and worked down to the bellybutton. Then, he returned to the
inside of the kid's legs working every so slowly toward the beautiful,
proud erection. After a few flicks, he was rewarded with a large quantity
of sweet nectar that made his efforts worthwhile. His hunger was assuaged
and the human was smiling contentedly.

--------------------------------

David awakened with a start. His cock was still throbbing from depositing
a load of jizz on his leg and boxers. His erection had found its way out
of the gaping slit.

But that wasn't the only cum that David felt. His hand which was cupped
around Drew's softening tool was also covered with it. Damn! What had he
done? He certainly didn't mean to molest his new companion. How had his
hand gotten there in the first place? What did all of this mean about his
sexuality?

David was going to wipe his hand off on the other leg of his boxers when a
rather perverse thought entered his head. He wondered how someone else's
semen would taste. He brought his hand to his mouth tentatively sticking
out his tongue. It wasn't nasty! It tasted rather like his own, but a bit
saltier. Shit! Why had he done that! What was he thinking?

It took more than an hour for David to settle down to sleep again. His
mind was in turmoil. He mentally reviewed his childhood and three years of
marriage. Did his marriage fail because he was not the person he had
always perceived himself to be? How was he going to handle things now?

--------------------------------

Drew scrambled out of the tent in the early morning heading for a
convenient tree to water. That is, he would as soon as he could get a
stream flowing through the log in his shorts. David followed him out,
standing beside him attempting to do the same thing. David made some joke
about trying to piss through a stick and that got them laughing enough to
relax and go.

Back in the tent, Drew apologized for the crusty spots on the sleeping bag.

"I'm sorry. I haven't had a wet-dream since I was in high school. I'll
get it laundered for you."

David smiled and shook his head.

"I haven't had a night emission since before I got married, but I did last
night. Check these shorts."

Drew relaxed visibly at David's nonchalant attitude. He didn't feel
embarrassed if David didn't.

The guys cooked eggs and bacon for breakfast. David taught Drew how to
toast bread over hot coals without having it catch fire. Both ate
heartily.

When the utensils and the guys were cleaned up, the pair dressed and hiked
the mile or so to Drew's car. It was parked in a shed on some property
that his grandfather owned. Since Grandpa was in a nursing home, no one
came out to the place very often. Drew figured that his things would be
relatively safe. After choosing a few clothes and retrieving his
toiletries, Drew locked his laptop and other valuables in the trunk. Then
they hurried back to the campsite to get on their way.

--------------------------------

With two people paddling and steering the canoe, they made a lot more
headway than David had the day before. That was good, because David was
going to have to cut the trip by at least a day so that they wouldn't run
out of food. As it was, they would be having canned and dried food toward
the end. It didn't bother David as long as he had this pleasant young man
to share his meals with.

On the journey, the guys got better acquainted. Every time a subject came
up, they found that they had a similar point of view. That applied to
religion, politics, and world events. Their tastes in music were nearly
identical too. Neither liked country and both detested rap. They
appreciated some oldies and really liked Elton John and Green Day.

At other times, they paddled along in companionable silence. It was
pleasant to feel the warm sun on their bare backs and to observe the
wildlife. There was a kind of peaceful atmosphere that made them forget
their other problems.

When they felt hungry around noon, they beached the canoe on a sandbar and
made some sandwiches from lunchmeat. David was saving the cheese for a
later day because it would keep better even if the ice ran out.

In the late afternoon, they found a good campsite and began to set up for
the night. David noticed that Drew was flexing his shoulders as if they
were aching. He figured that they probably were.

"Come on and lie down on the tarp in the sun and I'll give you a massage,"
he called.

Drew was happy for the offer. David used some sun lotion for lubricant.
He straddled Drew's waist and kneaded the tired muscles with firm pressure.
Drew moaned contentedly. David's touch felt loving. Drew needed this kind
of contact with a fellow human being to heal his aching soul. Drew's body
went completely limp (well, there was one part that wasn't soft) and soon
he was dozing. David eased up and eventually stopped. He let Drew nap
while he began preparations for their dinner.

As they sat by the campfire toasting marshmallows that night, Drew
expressed something that he had been thinking about all day.

"David, I think you're an angel."

"More like a devil when you get to know me," David snickered.

"I'm serious. If it weren't for you I would be dead right now. You saved
my life. I owe you big-time."

"I don't think you would have jumped. Something would have stopped you."

"SOMEONE did and that was you. Do you know that verse in the bible that
says: `He shall give his angels charge over thee to keep thee in all thy
ways'? You were that angel for me."

"They shall bear thee up in their hands lest thou dash thy foot against a
stone." David added. "The 91st Psalm was my uncle's favorite. He kept it
on a piece of paper in a pocket over his heart when he was in battle."

"Well," Drew smiled. "You are the angel that God sent to keep me from
dashing my foot and my brains against the rocks in the river."

"I'm thinking that YOU are the angel that God sent to me," David replied.
"He knew that I was lonely and hurting and that I needed someone like you
to brighten my day and help steer my canoe."

As he said those words, David reached out and squeezed Drew's hand. Drew
was nearly overcome with emotion. He wished that this trip would never
end. It was just his luck to start having feelings for a guy that he would
soon have to part from. It didn't seem fair – even if the guy was
straight and couldn't return his love.

"This has been like heaven," Drew ventured. "My life has been spared and I
have a few days of peace and quiet with good companionship and time to
figure out how to survive without any help from my parents. I guess that
I'd better come up with a plan soon because we don't have that much time.
Grandpa's in the care center, so I can't stay with him. I guess I'll drop
out of school and get a job that is good enough to let me save some money.
Maybe I could do modeling on the side. I was approached by a guy at school
who said I could make good money if I'm willing to pose naked."

"I've been thinking about your future too," David admitted. "I've got a
few ideas in mind that I hope will work for you. Forget the nude modeling
stuff and move in with me. I've got plenty of room. Since you won't have
to pay rent, you could probably continue school while working part time:
that is, if you don't mind going to a community college for the next year."

"David, you can't just open up your house to a stranger! What if I turn
out to be a serial killer?"

"Then I'll simply go to the store and buy more cereal!" David laughingly
replied.

"There you go playing with words again," Drew snickered.

"Well, why not? I AM a language arts teacher. I have to be full of corny
puns to keep my students on their toes."

"Your students are lucky. You're a really good person."

"So, will you take me up on my offer? I really want you to."

"I'm not sure what to say."

"Try: `yes'!"

"Okay, I'll say `yes'. I'll do whatever I can to pay you back –
anything you want."

"Well, I'll expect you to help with the cooking and cleaning, but we'll do
that as a team. I'm not planning to make you my slave."

Drew smiled. He thought that being David's personal slave would not be an
unpleasant duty. He wasn't into the idea of bondage, but he could see
himself play-acting in that role with this guy pretty easily.

After their river bath and a little more discussion, the two guys settled
down to asleep. Drew was more relaxed than he had been in weeks. The
stress of exams, plus the trauma of deciding to come out, added to the
reaction of his parents and the worry of how to exist had drained him. He
was out like a light in no time.

David lay awake a bit longer. He hoped that he had done the right thing.
He was still analyzing his motives. What if he found that he more than
just "liked" this young dude? Would Drew feel the same toward him, or
would he simply pretend to because he needed a roof over his head?

Despite his lying awake for a while, David rested well and woke up early
feeling refreshed. He got out to relieve his bladder and was happy to see
that Drew showed no hesitancy in joining him that morning. Neither was
afflicted with a shy bladder this time.

--------------------------------

Back on the river, the guys were treated to many more sightings of birds
and animals. A group of otters played at sliding down the bank into the
water. A mother loon and her chicks swam by. Several deer came to the
river for a drink. And there was even an eagle out on its morning hunt.
No other humans were out yet. The men felt like they were alone exploring
an unspoiled wilderness.

By the time they stopped for lunch, there was a little traffic on the
river. But since it was the middle of the week and early in the season,
there were few other canoes. The couple David had met at the put-in site
pulled up to the same sandbar for lunch. The lady seemed pleased that
David had a companion. She was curious to know where he had come from, but
was too polite to ask.

Later in the afternoon, David found that they were nearing his favorite
campsite. He had originally intended to get there a day later, but with
Drew onboard they had made better time. His face fell when he saw another
canoe tied up at the makeshift dock. But just as he was about to push on,
a couple waved them in.

"If you want this spot, it's all yours. We loved it so much that we stayed
most of the day. We have to get further down river if we are going to stay
on schedule. We'll be gone in five minutes," the two women informed them.

This was the best camping spot on the trip. The site was well screened
with bushes and there was a kind of cave hollowed out beneath a projection
of rock. Sometimes people spread their bags on the ground in that cleft,
not bothering with setting up a tent at all.

The day had been unusually hot for early June, but since it was not the
height of summer, David figured they might still want the tent before
morning. Drew helped him set it up toward the back of the "cave". Even
though they had known each other such a short time, they functioned well as
a team. Drew seemed to instinctively know what needed to be done and when
to do it. David was now more certain than ever that he had made the right
decision in asking Drew to live with him.

As they were nearing completion of their tasks, the sky suddenly began to
cloud over and the temperature dropped severely.

"I think we're in for a hell of a storm," David observed. "Let's pull the
canoe up by the tent."

Carrying the craft up the embankment was not a time-consuming task, but the
rain came so hard and fast that both men were soaked to the skin by the
time they had accomplished it. They stood laughing and shivering under the
overhang as they stripped off their shorts. Drew grabbed their towels so
that they could dry off on the tarp and not get the water inside the tent.
Then the pair scrambled in to find something to put on.

The lightening flashed and the thunder roared. Then the hail began to
fall. It was an awesome and somewhat frightening display of nature's
power. Drew seemed especially uneasy.

"What's wrong, man?" David inquired.

"Oh, nothing; it makes me think of times when I was little and my father
wouldn't let me climb in their bed when I was scared. He called me a
sissy."

David zipped up the bottom of his oversized sleeping bag and slid in
pulling Drew with him. He spooned against Drew's back and held him
tightly. Drew pulled the zipper on up.

The fit was close, but the contact of their two bodies helped to warm them
up. To Drew, this was seventh heaven. He wondered why David had done
this. He had begun to worry about how he would share a house with this guy
without being able to share physical contact. This was great. This felt
like love. Damn!

David had decided to stop thinking about what he was doing and why and just
go with the flow. This felt right! He didn't care what someone else would
label it. He let his hand stray to Drew's flat stomach. Drew's contented
sigh let him know that it was okay.

--------------------------------

In his lair, the dragon was alert with anticipation. He rarely stirred in
the light of day, but something had aroused him. He let out a
blood-curdling roar and pumped up to his full size. He wanted another male
dragon; he needed to be satisfied!

--------------------------------

David's hand slid further south. When it cupped Drew's package, the latter
moved with a start. Drew turned around as best he could in the confined
space and confronted his friend.

"Do you know what you're doing and how much this is affecting me? Please
don't tease me!"

"I'm sorry; I didn't mean to overstep the bounds. It just felt, uh..."

They studied each other in the dim light of the tent. David thought that
he saw a look of confusion and desire in Drew's eyes. Or was he projecting
the "desire" part, hoping that it was there? Drew thought he saw a look of
love in David's eyes. Or was it his imagination? He decided to take a
chance.

Drew moved his face closer to David's. But before he could close the gap,
David met him halfway. When their lips made contact in that first
tentative kiss, neither the fury of the storm nor the lustful roar of the
dragon was any match for the powerful electricity they felt.

Their subsequent kisses were almost painful in their desire to become one
flesh. Somewhere in the recesses of David's brain, he finally understood
what a kiss was supposed to be. In his years of dating and marriage, he
had never known this kind of passion.

They didn't have breath to waste in talking as they tore each other's
undershorts off. With the restricting apparel kicked to the bottom of the
bag, the guys began to writhe together in a primordial dance of love and
lust. They thrust their hard cocks against each other's bodies –
slipping and sliding on a lubricant of sweat and precum. Their emotions
were mixed. They desired release, but at the same time wanted this feeling
to go on forever.

Release came in the form of what seemed like a quart of cum. Both guys
pumped more volleys than they could ever remember shooting before. The
thinner parts of the mixture were tickling their sides and dripping on the
bag beneath.

"David, I'm sorry if I've corrupted you."

"You haven't changed me; you've simply helped me to know who I am. I love
you, Drew. I want to explore every aspect of loving you. Now quit
brooding and kiss me again."

David snapped out of his reverie at the first bars of "Pomp and
Circumstance." The university graduates began to file into the auditorium.
Drew was toward the end since they were lined up alphabetically.

After a series of welcomes and boring speeches, it was time for the
presentation of diplomas. David snapped several pictures of Drew as he
walked proudly across the stage.

When it was over, the guys went home for a quiet drink. Drew had said that
he didn't want a party. He had something serious to discuss with David.

Drew looked preoccupied as the two sat in the great room of David's house.
It was as if he were trying to think of the best way to phrase his words.
David's heart began to quiver in anticipation of what he might say.

"David, first I want you to know how much I appreciate everything you have
done for me. I owe you my life and the chance to get my education. But
now, I've graduated and I've accepted a good job. I'm no longer dependent
on you. So, now I can say what I've wanted to for a long time."

David steeled himself in anticipation and dread of what would come next.

"David, now that I'm my own man, will you consent to be my husband? I want
us to go somewhere where we can have some kind of ceremony and get married
or as nearly so as two guys can."

"Drew, you caught me off guard; for once, I don't know what to say," he
murmured tearfully.

"Just say `yes', my love."

"Yes, my love!" David beamed. "Um, can I interest you in getting an early
start on the honeymoon?"

"Yes, my angel."

In a sunlit field beside a comfortable cave, two dragons wrestled as one...

include: "Zeke" (August 29, 2005), "Always and Forever" (March 25, 2004),
"Jacob and Jacques" (May 30, 2004), and "Tales from Bentonville"
(November,2008) under High School. Some characters from previous stories
may have cameo roles in this one. However, you need not read them first.

I'm also planning to launch a new story, probably under "high school"
and/or possibly "adult male" sometime in November 2008. It will be called:
"Second Chance".

I'd love to hear from you. Please include "Angels" in the subject line if
you do so that I know it's not spam. Dlee169@hotmail.com
