Chapter 15
Friends from the Lazy R, Jim, his Mom and Dad came for dinner. Nick and Sue were
so impressed that they hired Jim and his dad, John. Now the chore of running
both ranches was on the way to be solved.

Sue was going over to the Lazy R to complete her purchase of the ranch or was it
just to spend the day with Jim, maybe even both.
Nick invited John and his wife, Sara to spend the night at the ranch so they
could all tour the ranch. after the tour, they could spend time looking over
Jake's files and laying out plans for running the ranch. Nick decided to spend a
more active role in running the ranch. Therefore, he and John could learn
together. John had the advantage since he had been a ranch manager before

"Nick, I have an master's degree in elementary education and I really would like
to stay in the class room. I am way too young to retire. I know that you taught
last year and thought you might know if any positions in the elementary school
are open for the coming year." Stated Sara.

"At the time, there are no openings. However, I have been toying with the idea
of resigning and spending more time on the ranch. I think that you have just
helped me make my decision. The school board will be meeting a week from Monday.
I can turn my resignation then and if you will be around, introduce you at the
same time. I don't know how long you plan on staying but we can always go into
the Superintendent's office and let him deal with the school board."

"We had planned on returning home in three days and start getting ready for our
move. So I think that we should go in the day after tomorrow." Sara said.

"Let's go in the first thing in the morning and then we can take the tour when
we return." Nick informed her.

"Harry, I would like to talk with you. Would you like to go into the study"

"Harry, I have to go back to the University in two days to start my internship
program at the hospital in Missoula. The hospital is owned and operated by the
Medical School of Medicine. I would like to give you a good examination and then
have you come to Missoula to have a complete workup and evaluation. From all
that I have seen so far, I think we may be able to correct some of the problems
with your legs."

"That sound very expensive and I have only limited funds."

"Actually, there will be no cost to you. The School of Medicine will be picking
up all the expenses. That is why I would like to give you an examination
tomorrow and then I can make my recommendations to the board. Last night I have

"My mother never took me to a doctor. If I got sick she would treat me with over

then I had to start using crutches and finally I had to go to a wheel chair. I
was about 15 about that time. I gave up trying to walk as I found it easier just
to use the wheel chair. I think a lot of my problems are just lack of use and an

"If that be the case, I know that we can really do you some good, if you are
willing to work at walking again. We will just have to wait and see what a
complete diagnosis will demonstrate and what kind of prognosis you are given.
However, from I all indications, I think that with a change in diet, medication
for muscle building, and a lot of hard work, I think you will be walking again
in no time."

"I didn't even know that good and kind people like Jake, Mrs. Wilson, Nick, and
you even existed."

"Harry, you are going to find more people like us in the world than the sour
apples that you met in your younger life. What do you say about stopping for the
night and we can start again tomorrow. I think a trip to the pool and hot tub
may be in order, don't you?"

"Tom, are you a mind reader. Also. I was just thinking the same thing."
