Author's note

"Sunset on the Edge of the High Desert"(Beginnings-Dec 27, 2007) was a
story of Louie and Adam. Louie, a much older man, who was killed in this
last episode. Thus, the quote, "And so the Saga of Louie and Adam comes to
an end.. The sun has set now for Louie. He will watch the sunsets holding
his wife's hand on one side and Joe's hand on the other. Sunrise signals
the beginning of a new day. Likewise, it can be a beginning of a new life
and all the challenges that go along with it. There will be a sunrise for
Adam which will be followed by many sunsets." Sunrise is the story of Adam
and his new beginning and his new life.

Chapter 1

"Jack, I can¢t believe it has been a year since we lost Louie. I can feel
his presence and I just can¢t let go. You have been here for me all the
time. I don¢t know what I would have done without you. I don¢t think I
could have survived on my own. Thanks!" Adam said sobbing.

Jack just moved across the hot tub and took Adam in his arms and held him
tightly to his chest for a long time without saying anything. "Adam, I told
you that I would always be here for you and I will, too. Now, you have to
let of Louie go and move on with your life. Only you can do that because,
no one else can do it for you."

Adam continued to cry and Jack just held him. Finally, Adam calmed
down. "Jack, as you know I have not been back to the cabin and up the hill
where we scattered Louie¢s ashes. I can¢t put it off any longer. There are
several hours of daylight left and I would like to be there at sunset. I
want to get up early in the morning and watch the sunrise. I want to start
a new beginning. Would you take me up there? I have to go there before I
can let Louie go and I can¢t do it by myself."

"Adam, I have been waiting for this moment for a long time. I haven¢t been
back myself and I have been waiting for you. Now we can do this
together. Let¢s go. But first we need to put some clothes on."

"Could we stay all night in the cabin and go to the hot springs tomorrow? I
would like to pay you back for all that you have done for me. So many times
I have wanted to crawl into bed with you and make you happy but I have not
been able to force myself to do so."

"Adam, you don¢t know how many times I have wanted the same thing but I
knew I had to wait until you were ready. I didn¢t want to force you to do
something that you didn¢t want. Yes, we can stay for several days if need
be. I have had the men stock and clean the cabin waiting for this
time. Let¢s go!"

Jack drove the truck. Adam sat next to him, not saying anything. Just
crying softly. Jack did no talking himself. He just put his arm around
Adam¢s shoulder and he too, had tears running down his cheeks. When the
cabin came into sight, Adam let out a loud moan and almost passed out. Jack
just keep driving until they reached the cabin. Jack had to half carry Adam
inside.

"Adam, Are you going to be ok or do you want to go back?"

" I will be fine and no I can¢t go back. Just hold me tight and help me up
the hill."

Jack got the lantern because he had traveled the path at night before. He
knew that it would be dark before they returned. Adam had both arms around
Jack¢s waist and wouldn¢t let go. They started up the hill. About half way
up, Adam stopped and refused to go any farther. Jack just started singing
¡Beyond the Sunset¢ and soon Adam joined in. Adam had sung this song when
they scattered Louie¢s ashes. Singing gave them both inspiration and
strength. The journey continued. They finally reached the top.

Adam sat down on the favorite rock and turned to Jack and said, "Jack,
could I be alone. There are some things I need to do by myself. I want to
talk with Louie alone?"

"Sure thing, I will just move on around the corner a bit. I have some deep
thinking to do also. Let me know when you are finished."

After about 30 minutes, Adam left his rock and went to find Jack, who was
sitting with his eyes closed and with a big smile on his face. "Boy, Jack
you must be thinking good thoughts. I certainly hope that I was in them!"

"That you were Big Guy, That you were!"

"I haven¢t been called Big Guy since Louie died. I like it and you can call
me Big Guy anytime you want. I don¢t mind. It makes me feel alive and
wanted. Jack this trip up here was exactly what I needed to bring me back
into the world of the living.

"This trip was what we both needed. The old Adam is back. I didn¢t know
what to do or how to do it. I knew something had to be done and soon. I was
beginning to become afraid of what might happen."

"Jack, I am back to stay. Life is too good to waste it away. Oh, by the
way, I didn¢t know you were a singer. You sounded great back there on the
trail."

"Adam, I have somethings that I would like to confess. I have admired how
you sang. I wanted to be like you, so I have been taking voice lessons all
year, I have been waiting for you to return. I hope that you will continue
to help me. Maybe we can become a duet."

"Jack I would like nothing better. Let¢s go back to the rock and
practice.. I am sure Louie, his wife, and Joe would like to have a
concert. I haven¢t sang since Louie¢s death. I had no reason to but now I
have. Hurry up, I want us to fill the hills with music."

Jack and I sang until the sun went behind the hills. We started down the
mountain until we came to the hot springs. "Jack, let¢s stop and soak for
awhile. It has been a long time since I have even thought about this
wonderful and fabulous place. I want to spend some time with the most
compassionate and ravishing man in the whole world." By now I had most of
my clothes off and Jack was not far behind. I could barely wait until Jack
was completely nude. I knew what kind of treat was waiting for me. Jack¢s
manhood would be the envy of any man. I became as excited as a kid at
Christmas time and you would think this was my first time to see him
completely nude.

I stepped out of my jeans and my skimpy bikini underwear. Jack was all eyes
and was grinning from ear to ear. He was taking his time and about to drive
me wild. I stepped closer and took hold of his belt. "Here let me help you
with that. You are being way to poky."

"What is your hurry? We have all night and then some. We might as well take
our time and enjoy life as we go!" Jack teased.

"You don¢t know how many times this last year, I dreamed of this moment. I
can¢t wait any longer. I am in dire need of your beautiful body wrapped
around me and satisfying my lust and desires!"

Jack¢s clothes fell to the ground as he took me in his arms and put his
lips on mine. With our bodies locked as one, we slipped into the warm water
and sat down. Both of us, wanting the other.

"Jack, you have to take it easy with me at first. You are a very big man
and nothing has stretched me for a year now. So I have to be very tight and
will need a little patience on your part but I am more than ready for you."

"So what is new, you have always been very tight and you know how to show a
man a good time. Guess what? I am more than ready for you, as you can
tell.. I haven¢t been completely an old hermit and have had a few good
times. You were always in my mind, along with all the wonderful memories of
our times together."

"Man are you going to talk all night? I think you are all talk and no
action!"

"No talk and no action, you say. I show you what action really is and you
will be hollering ¡Uncle¢ before I am finished with you, wise guy!" His
hands began moving down Adam¢s muscular and well built body."

Adam put his arms around Jack¢s neck and started kissing him. "Listen, you
are just all talk. I don¢t think you are man enough to carry out your
threats. Jack I have waited a long time for this moment. I am yours and you
can have me for as long as you like. Just remember, I want to be on the
hill top at sunrise. I want to see the first light of day and the new
beginning."

"No problem, I know I can¢t last that long even if I tried. We can give it
a good try and will continue until we are both satisfied or too tired to
move. Just remember, I like to bottom, also."

After a couple of good rounds each, Jack and Adam moved down the mountain
to the cabin. They set the alarm and both of them fell asleep immediately,
entwined with the other¢s body.

Using the lantern, Jack and Adam walked carefully to the top of the
hill. They didn¢t want to slip on the heavy dewed grass and fall. They had
plenty of time, so they just sat on the rock, holding each other tightly.

Soon the first light of day started bouncing off the tops of the trees and
slowly it moved to the valley floor. The entire valley had a certain glow
and charm to it. The tranquility was breath taking. Neither one of them
wanted to break the enchantment that had captured both of them. Adam
started singing and Jack joined in. Soon, the sun¢s warming rays caused
them to become aware of the hunger pains that were starting to set in.

"Big Guy, why don¢t we start working our way down to the cabin and get
something to eat. We can stop at the hot springs and soak our bodies for
awhile."

"That is all we will do is soak. My bottom feels like it needs some nice
warm water. I don¢t think I will be able to sit for a week. Jack, You
pounded it so much last night. I bet I even walk funny."

"Hey, did I say anything about doing something other than soaking. Since
you mentioned it, maybe we should go a couple of rounds. Relax, just
kidding." Jack laughed.

They stripped and stepped into the warm water. "I think that I could stay
here all day. This certainly feels nice." Jack expounded. "Oh, I forgot to
turn that stupid cell phone off. It is probably one of the hands needing
help. I shouldn¢t even answer it but I better. It may be important."

He got out of the pool, shivered a little and walked to his clothes and
retrieve the phone. Adam could not hear what was going on but could tell
that it was serious by the expression on Jack¢s face. After a few minutes,
Jack hung up and just stood there pale as a sheet. Adam knew something was
wrong and rushed to his side and took him in his arms, hugging him close.

"Jack come on back into the water. You are going to get chilled to the
bone.." Adam, half carried Jack back into the warm water and sat him on the
rock bench. He didn¢t try to pry but just held Jack close and stroke his
head gently.

"Adam, I am sorry it was but about my grandfather in Montana."

"Jack you don¢t have to apologize for anything. You are only human and
besides what are close friend for anyway. I am here when you want someone
to lean on and support you. Can you talk to me now or do you need more
time."

"Thanks Big Guy! That was my grandmother¢s niece. My Grandfather has become
very ill and will have to go into a nursing home. He is terminal and does
not have more than 6 months to live. He is still at home but has around the
clock nurses with him."

"Why are we sitting around here talking? Let¢s get a move on and head for
Montana. We can leave Larry in charge and he will take care of everything."

"Adam, I can¢t ask you to go with me. I can go by myself."

"You did not ask me, I told you that I was going. Jack, you have been here
for me when I needed you the most. Now, I want to be there for you. Give me
your cell and let me call the Redmond airport and see if we can catch a
flight out tonight. Where in Montana are we going ? Let¢s move, we have a
lot to do!" Adam gave him a big hug and a kiss.

"There you go again, Big Guy, putting the whole world ahead of yourself."

"I don¢t have time to think about #1. I¢ll race you to the cabin." With
that, Adam jumped up, got out the pool, grabbed his clothes and took off
running naked through the woods. Much to his surprise, Jack passed
him. Jack didn¢t even stop to get his clothes. Adam turned around and ran
back got them and took off for the cabin again.

When he arrived, Jack was busy putting their gear into the truck, still
naked. "I¢ll be ready in just a few minutes. Make the call and I will
finish up."

Adam called the airport and got connections. He turned to Jack and said,
"Jack we don¢t have much time to kill, our plane leaves in 4 hours." He
quickly put on his clothes and Jack told him to jump in because he was
ready to go.

Jack ran around to the driver¢s side and started to climb in. Adam stopped
him. "Jack, aren¢t you forgetting something. I think you had better get
dressed. I don¢t want you giving everyone at the ranch a heart
attack. Although, I like you better the way you are."

Jack chuckled and got dressed. We were soon on our way. I have never been
to Montana and I was certainly looking forward to this new adventure. Jack
had talked much about his grandparents and Adam felt that he already knew
his grandpa.
