                                   Chapter 6

Adam and I, the two men charged with Roberts and the two teen age boys
all met with the DA. The DA was shocked with what he heard. He agreed to
drop the charges against the men in exchange for their testimony. He
would recommend a short probation period for them. He drew up a list of
charges to be levied against Roberts to include and not limited to rape
of two teen age boys, child and sexual abuse, and multiple accounts of
sodomy. Roberts would also have more charges placed on top of the
offenses against the minors. He would have charges of blackmail,
extortion, rape, and forcing men to prostitute themselves and possible
other charges. The boys said they knew of 3 younger boys all younger than
12 who had been abused by Roberts and at least 4 other men. This would
led to more charges once the DA finished his investigation.
I told the DA that the two women had hinted at embezzlement of church
funds. The DA said he would put this on the top of list and would put
some of best investigators on the case.. Roberts appeared to be looking
at very long jail sentence. Society would be free of him for a very long
time.
The DA dismissed the boys and the men. He asked for Roberts and his
attorney be ushered into the room. As soon as Roberts saw who was in the
room, he knew something was wrong. "Get those worthless fags out of here.
I don't want them in the same room with me.!"
"Mr. Roberts, you have no choice in the matter. I would suggest that you
sit down and close your mouth. You are already in deep trouble. I can
always add new charges if you want." commanded the DA "It appears that
you have been covering your actions with hate crimes and protest against
gays. I have enough evidence to add the following charges against you."
Therefore, I am arresting you on the following charges and read them.
Officer would you arrest Mr. Roberts and please read him his rights."
"You can't do that. You have no evidence. You'll never prove any of
this. I have been set up by those queers." shouted Roberts.
"Mr. Roberts, I would advise of to remain silent. You are facing a lot of
charges all ready. I would love to add resisting arrest and another long
list to those you are already charged with."
"Counselor, you and Mr. Roberts will appear before the grand jury
tomorrow to plead at 9:00 am tomorrow."
"I need to know the names of the individuals who are charging my clients!
I need to start preparing my defense for Rev. Roberts."
"You will be provided with all the information in due time after he is
brought before the grand jury. You know the procedure. If you really must
know, Why don't you ask Mr. Roberts. I am sure he can provide you all
the names you need. Good day, Gentlemen!" the DA then asked the guard to
remove Roberts and take him back to his cell.
"Do you think you can convict him? Louie asked.
"Without a doubt! If he was smart he would plead guilty and cut some time
off his sentence which should be a long one anyway."
"Hey Guys, how about lunch? My treat." said Dan
"I would really like to but I now have a ton of work to before morning.
See you then" said the Da as he was going out the door.
After lunch, Adam and I headed back to the motorhome before we went to
his house to rehearse for Joe and Lila's memorial. We still had two days
so we were really just going to have a little fun and a good old song
fest.
Once we were inside, Adam went into the bed room and started closing the
blinds. "You mean you still have all of your clothes on! What is wrong
with you man?" Adam came up and hugged me up close. He started removing
my shirt. I started to tent. "My! My! You sure are a horny, old man! I
can see I'm going to have problems with you."Adam expounded.
"You don't know what problems are. You just wait and see! What is taking
you so long with those buttons." Louie said as he kissed Adam. Adam
kissed back but kept his hand working. Soon Louie was completely nude.
Louie was now busy with Adams clothes. Louie continued to kiss Adam while
Adam had both hands busy fondling Louie.

Adam and I showered and after a little fooling around, and a lot of
cuddling , we were on our way to Gene's.
"My! you guys are certainly in a good mood. You must have had a good
day." Gene said as she led into the living room where we would have our
little music session. We told her about the development with Roberts. She
was delighted at the news.
"Louie, did Joe have any favorite songs. It would be nice if we did a
couple for him."
"Yes, Gene he did. I know you know both of them. `Canadian Sunset' and
`Beyond the Sunset'. We have a little lake on the ranch. We use to go
out there and watch the sunset. I would play the songs on the violin.
Then we would just sit there, holding hands until dark. It was so
peaceful and quiet."
"That is beautiful. I know Joe is up there looking down. He would love to
hear those songs again. Would you mind if we used them? I love them both
myself." Gene sighed.
"I think that is great and I know Joe would be honored." I pick up the
violin and started to play. Adam let me play all the way through and told
me play it again.
Gene said, "On three, 1, 2, 3," Gene, Tim and I started to play. We
played the introduction and Adam and Sarah came in on cue. I had never
hear anything so beautiful. Tears filled my eyes. I looking around and
saw a room full of teary eyes.
Debbie and Josh wanted to know if they could sing with us when we sang
`Beyond the Sunset'. "How would you two like to sing the first verse by
yourselves?" asked Gene.
We play the introduction, And the kid started singing. I knew that Joe
was smiling from ear to ear. The kids were just fantastic.
"Grandpa Louie, That is our favorite song also. We sing it with Grandma
all the time." beamed Debbie.
"I loved the way you sang it. I wonder if I could get a big hug and a
kiss. You did good!" Adam moved toward me and I said not now. You get
yours later. Adam turned red and could have died right there on the spot.
Laughter fill the room.
"Adam, what did Grandpa Louie mean?" asked Josh. Again everyone roared
with laughter.
"Oh, he was just being funny but I have news for him!" Adam grabbed me
and kissed me on the lips. Now it was my turn to become red. Everyone
including the kids were laughing.
I think we had better move on and I started to play `you are my
sunshine'. Everyone joined in and I am sure you could hear us into the
next block. We sang and enjoyed our good times for a hour or so.
The door bell rang and Josh rushed to answer it. "Grandpa Louie and Uncle
Adam some guys are here to see you. They must be the ones that you had a
fight with. Their faces look just like yours.-all beat up ."
"Bring them into the living room, Please Josh!" said Adam.
They we all laughing when they arrived. "It looks like we got the best of
you!" laughed Jeff.
Tony introduce Jeff, Ron, Terry and himself to the group. Adam returned
the introduction . When he got to Josh he said, "And this young trouble
maker is Josh, my favorite in fact only nephew"
Josh jokingly doubled a fist and said, "Watch it Buster, or I'll give
you another fat lip." Adam grabbed him and gave him a Dutch rub (nookie).
Louie asked them when the could be ready to leave for Oregon. All four
said that they could leave at anytime. They had little in the line of
furniture. They said they already had their belonging in the two pickups
that they had. They were living in some apartments and had already told
the landlords that they were moving. They would have to forfeit their
deposits since they had not given 30 day notices.
Louie called his foreman, Jack and told him the guys would be on their
way and would be there in two days. He had already talked with Jack and
he knew the full story. Jack would have two bunkhouses ready for them.
One for Ron and Terry and the other for Jeff and Tony. He asked if Jeff
and Tony would like single beds and they both said yes. You will have to
tell Jack when you arrive.
Louie gave them $500 for traveling expenses and directions to his ranch
after they reached Bend. Louie told them that they could make it in one
day if they took turns driving. However, since there was no rush that
they would be better off taking two days. They said their good byes and
left.
