many people mad. Please enjoy!!
"I'm waiting for time to stop damn it. I'm waiting for everything inside me
to go still and stop. I'm waiting for that instant when I know without a
second thought that my life will never be the same again. I won't settle
for less."
Although his speech was said softly, everyone at that table and a few
others surrounding it had heard Marcus' words. Tyler has just been joking,
teasing his friend about his lack of a love life. But all of his friends
were secretly worried about their friend. Marcus was 6" 175lbs with a
swimmers' build. With his black hair and green eyes they felt that there
was no reason for Marcus to be alone.
"Look Marcus, I'm sorry, that didn't come out the way we... I wanted it
to." Tyler said softly, looking at their friends, Megan, Julia and Jason
for support.
How exactly was telling a complete stranger that I `was in desperate need
of a fuck' supposed to come out?"
"Marcus, it was a stupid blind date," Julie spoke up tucking her red hair
behind her ear, her eyes sad. "A date that apparently can't hold his
liquor. But Marcus, we meant well. You should be out having fun with
someone that cares about you."
"I thought I was with someone who cared about me" He pulled out his
wallet and paid the bill.
Jason jumped up, almost knocking over his chair. "That's not fair
man. You're nice, funny and smart but you know there's no way in hell
you're going to be able to get what you want."
"So be it." He said and turned to leave. His friends tried to call
him back, but he refused to turn around. As he stepped out of the small
cafe he closed his eyes and turned his face up to the August rain.
"Sir?" A voice called out from the shadows.
Marcus sighed softly, feeling the weight of responsibilities that never
really left him. "Take me home Author." As the door was opened to the
armored limo he slid into the car. No one realized that some of the
moisture on his face was tears. He though to himself, "Who the hell ever
said it was good to be king?"
"I could have them killed and make it look like an accident."
Nathan offered. Marcus laughed and shook his head. They were both leaning
against the head board of his bed. While Marcus worked on matters of State
on his laptop Nathan finally got the whole story from his friend.
"How do you do it?"
"Don't Marcus."
"How do you pretend that this is enough for you?"
"Marcus, you know I love you more than anything right?" Marcus
nodded. "Let's assess here, okay? You're the 26 year old ruler of the most
powerful country in the world. Your gorgeous, you've got people that love
you and others that would die for you." He nodded to one of the bodyguards
barely visible in the corner. "Your life isn't by any stretch of the
imagination bad."
"I don't feel sorry for myself Nathan. I know what kind of life I lead. I
just worry that...."
"Majesty, your needed on the border of Iraq, there's been a disturbance."
Marcus didn't bother to sigh as he got up to leave. It seems like half of
his life was spent traveling all over, never in the same county for long.
And even though his men would die to protect him, he was never completely
safe. Maybe it was best that Nathan was the only one in his life. Who else
could handle all this.
"Your majesty, you're being unreasonable."
"I don't want to hear it Siouan you have no excuse for attempting
genocide. If I find out that you have not moved your soldiers out of that
land by the end of the day I will make you regret it. Right before your
people find a new king."
"Don't threaten me you immoral infidel" King Siouan found himself
up against a wall with a knife to his throat.
"Don't forget who you're dealing with." Marcus said coldly. "I can
kill you, make up a reason and no one will say a word. I am not just any
king. Get your people out of that land. Or get ready to run." As the blood
trickled down his neck Marcus saw that he had gotten his point across. He
let the shaken king go and he fell to the floor.
"Don't make me have to have this conversation again." Marcus turned and
left, his bodyguard and his assistant followed close behind.
"Find out what the hell is going on. Siouan would never have done
something that stupid unless he was about to loose everything. He knows
what I can do after what happened to China and the States. Something big
must be going on. I need to know what it is and why I didn't know about it
before it happened."
