PART 14

"Do we really have to go all the way here? Can't you just call them, you
know, over the phone?" Joe was dreading the travel to Tom's house. As they
got out of the smelly rented car, he could not bear the ice that was just
stabbing his bones. Tom wanted to come out to his family, in person. It was
the only way Tom wanted to do, being a family man and all. Joe got a point
back then, he should've consult to Anna long ago, when he first developed
the feeling. She was the one who got through all that.

"Why? Don't you like my family?"

"I love your family." Joe shot back truthfully. "It's freaking cold in
here. I will not last an hour. Might as well murder me right now."

"Man, you're going to be such a delight when you get old. The whole
neighborhood is going to love you." Tom said.

Joseph huffed displeased. "Besides, we're meeting the Dawsons. It's
basically meeting your parents. What if they don't like me?"

"You've met them, they loved you."

"As your friend, not as your boyfriend."

Tom opened the door to his old house. Nobody was home; probably they were
already at the Dawson's. Their relationship with the Dawson's was truly
close, truly like a family. They could come over anytime to each other's
homes and nobody would mind. They celebrated everything together, like
Thanksgiving which Joseph came to, or Christmas when Tom hadn't gone out to
work in the city, or the Fourth of July where they would go to the fair
together. Garrett and Anna used to live in the Dawson's house when Tom
moved out for college. Garrett moved back to his house once he finished
college, taking over the responsibility to take care of the house.

But that wasn't the house they were going to go to. It was the Dawsons',
and Joe was not too thrilled about it. He much preferred to stay in
Tom's. It was more familiar and safe. Anna and Garrett were not safe, but
Tom was. He would choose staying in the room with Tom the whole time. Maybe
it was just the whole process of coming out that did not thrill him. Even
though it was not Joseph's event he was still nervous. After all it was him
that arguably made all this necessary.

Gingerly Joe followed his boyfriend. In his mind he's repeating a mantra:
he's Tom, not Tommy; I'm Joe, not Joey. He cannot screw this up for
Tom. Hell, coming out was not his favorite time.

They walked through the front door, which was odd to Joe. The last time
they went there, they went through the backdoor. "Not a fan of backdoor, I
see," he thought. Good Lord! Bad joke at bad time!

"Oh hi, honey! We've been expecting you." Meryl, the mom, greeted him. A
hug and a kiss on the cheek later Joseph got his turn.

"Sorry we're late." Tom apologized.

"No worries, we're almost done." Steve, the dad, who were busy setting up
the table made time to give both boys a hug each. "The kids are in the
kitchen." He said. "Please, I'm begging you; stop Garry from ruining our
dinner." Funny man, honest man.

These are the happiest married people anyone could ever meet. Even Tom who
lived through a happy life was so impressed and inspired by them. Joe was
as influenced if not more. Secretly, behind that cynical, gloomy, and
bitter outlook of life that he exhibit, he was a hopeless romantic
shithead. He aspired to find a man, get married and live happily ever after
in a small house with white picket fence in the prairie. Same sex marriage
is legal in Illinois anyway.

"Garry, you should start locking the door." Tom shouted from the doorway.

"Tom, you're here!" The tall guy responded. "Anna was the last one on the
door."

"Was not!"

Emma was there. Mandy, the daughter, was too. She was this bright-eyed,
blond haired young woman that seemed to be understated and smiling all the
time, much like her parents. She and Joseph talked a bit during
Thanksgiving. The atmosphere surrounding her is different from Tom, Anna,
Garrett and Emma. She was more quiet and shy while Tom's whole family was
more rowdy and loud. She seemed comfortable enough around them as she was
laughing her ass off.

Meanwhile Joe had been silent the whole time. He still could not shake the
awkward out of him. There he was, in an alien environment doing something
he knew absolutely nothing about and not having the only person he could
actually talk with at the time. Tom was in the zone, so did Anna and Emma.
Amanda and Garry was arguing because she wanted Garry to not ruin
anything. These people took cooking seriously. It was like watching Top
Chef in slow motion. So intense that Joe felt short-handed. "I would like
to help but I'm bad at this." He finally said, could not bear the silence
any longer. "I once boiled water and it burnt." Anna and Emma laughed; the
three of them shared the same sense of humor. Tom laughed because it's
true. Then again, he laughed at any joke Joe made.

"That's okay. You can just watch TV in the living room or something." Tom
offered.

"Right, leaving me in another room with the parents. That's gonna end
well."

"Yeah, I get that." Anna interjected chuckling. "Every time I have to stay
in a waiting room I just don't know what to do. I mean there's the magazine
and the TV and the furniture and the wall. No empty room can be so
distracting and uninteresting at the same time." She said emphatically.

"It's like my job interview all over again." Joe agreed.

"You know what's worse? If the receptionist was there." Emma chimed in. "I
mean there's a person there but she's not talking, or even looking at
you. I mean she's fine there, she's in her zone. You? What can you do?"

Suddenly everything spiraled into a discussion over awkward moments that
didn't feel awkward at all. Except for Tom. He's the fourth wheel now, in
a surprising turn of event. He knew that Joe got along very well with his
family, but it was unpredictably too well. Tom was glad, even if he was the
man out in the room, even if he could not chime in for a little.

***

They all started to take their seat around the small round table that
miraculously fit eight persons and a boatload of food. Garry and Emma was
not there yet so it felt more spacious that it would be. The array of
savory treats was mouth-watering and Tom should be dripping with
appetite. No, not this time. He was too distracted by his purpose of going
there.

"So what brings you here in this... odd timing?" Meryl asked.

"I missed Christmas and New Year, so I thought I'd come over." Tom answered
with only half the truth.

"I take it you're not going back for your birthday." She speculated about
Tom's visiting schedule.

"Probably not." He smiled nervously.

"Why?" Amanda wailed. "Now I have to wait for Garret's birthday for the
cake." Meryl's cake was apparently famous in the family.

"I already made other plans." Tom took a glance to Joseph uncomfortably. He
could only give a supportive look that might be too obvious to others.

Soon after Garry and Emma joined the table. The moment of truth could
present itself anytime but Tom just couldn't get himself to it. He was
usually a confident man but this situation is too new to him that it didn't
leave room for confidence. His mind was already fully booked by the
worry. Below the table he could feel Joe reached for his knee. Supposedly
to calm Tom down. Maybe to calm himself down.

By the end of the meal he didn't say anything. Everyone else was busy
eating and casually talking about things that didn't seem to matter to both
Tom and Joe. There could be a conversation about the cure for AIDS or an
imminent war but both of them wouldn't notice. The leap had to be taken,
but when? Now!

Tom cleared his throat. "Actually there's another reason why I come here
today."

The look of concern in Joe's face could not be more obvious.

"This is something that I should've told you guys a few weeks ago, or maybe
months." He stopped himself in order to freeze his trembling nerves. He
knew where to go from there but he didn't know how to get there. He
reconsidered of using the food analogy like what he did with Alice, but
that was plain stupid. He sighed for a long time. The room was still
silent. "I'm dating Joseph."

The room stayed silent.

Tom looked around, feeling the pressure from everyone that seemed to demand
further explanation. "I realized a while ago that I'm bisexual. Joe here is
the one that made me realize that. So... there you go."

"So," Garrett looked at both Tom and Joe with an understandable skepticism,
"you guys are dating?"

Tom and Joe nodded in unison.

"And... this is your coming out?"

"Yes, it is." Tom answered.

Unexpectedly Garry flashed an evil grin. Then he gave Meryl a
high-five. The others moaned with defeat and/or laughed.

"You were right!" Meryl said to Garry.

"I can't believe I didn't side with you." Steve sighed.

"Wait. Did you guys bet on us?" Tom asked half bewildered, half enraged.

"Duh!" Anna snorted. "I can't believe I lost. I'm your gay sister and I
didn't see this coming. What's wrong with me?"

Joe, in his characteristic bluntness amid annoyance asked point blank,
"Why?" He was displeased and he let everybody know.

"Hey, it's out of love." Garry joked. "Okay, okay." He added once he saw
that neither Joe nor Tom changed their stance. "I started it. It was back
in Thanksgiving, after our dinner in the other house. I thought you were
very close. Maybe too close. Especially Tom. Man, you were head over heels
for him and you didn't even know it." He flashed a smile that was
reminiscent to one of Tom's.

"Continue." Tom challenged.

"Well, when you guys were washing dishes I asked Emma and Anna about
it. They didn't think so. So I bet." He laughed.

"When he told us the next day, I thought it was true. Steve didn't." Meryl
grinned from ear to ear. "We won 200 bucks each." They all laughed.

Tom smiled too. Hearing all that only made him realize how blind he was
back then about his own feelings. This brother of him saw it crystal clear
and so did Meryl, but he himself did not. He blushed. Tom had fallen for
Joseph for longer than he knew it. He could not deny it. He looked at the
man that ruled his heart, dropped his head and giggled as quiet as he
could. How cute can Joseph be? He loved that man. So much. While the others
chatted among themselves about settling the bet, he just focused on the
most handsome man in his eyes. None of the outside world can be heard. He
pulled Joe's hand into his. He leaned in and kissed Joe with much
tenderness.

"That's adorable." The always sensitive Steve remarked. The ladies under
the roof collectively gushed over them.

"That's gross." Garry said laughing. Tom threw a napkin at him while
kissing still. Garry was actually quoting what Tom said to him when he
first brought Emma as a girlfriend and kissed her in the dining room. Much
like this situation, but without coming out or betting to precede it.

***

Finally the gods of the universe blessed them with privacy. Joe was busy
texting when Tom returned to their room. Without minding Joe's wellbeing,
Tom jumped on top of Joe and wildly kiss his boyfriend.

"Pent up desire, I see." It wasn't a make out session, more like a twenty
seconds long savage kiss that had Joe overwhelmed. Tom put him down
grinning.

"Yeah." Tom grinned. "Now quit the texting and begin the fucking."

"Wait, that's Sam. He's meeting a new guy. Hot gossip, you know." He
laughs.

"Ugh, fuck him. It's your turn to fuck me."

"Uh, I don't think I can handle sex tonight." Joe said with honesty, and
apprehension. "I'm just a little tired." He felt a little bad
afterwards. Joe had always been very passionate since the day they started
sex, but tonight just wasn't one of those nights.

"I'm tired too." Tom confessed. He let Joe lose his loose embrace to change
his clothes. Unlike Tom who could withstand the freezing weather in his
little piece of attire, Joe had to cover himself up double.

Tom was already on the bed in the safe confines of a blanket. He watched as
Joe changed. It was like an awkward but still hot striptease. Actually,
striptease is something that Joe could come up with. He was vastly more
adventurous than Tom was. He then remarked, "You amaze me. You are mostly
offhand about everything, but you are so forward when it comes to sex."

"Hey, I've been missing out for 25 years. I can't afford to lose any more
chances." He chuckled. He put on the final piece of his sleeping costume
which consisted of a long john, a pair of pajama pants and a long sleeve
tees. He joined Tom in a second. "Besides, you're just too hot to pass."
Tom just smiled as he spooned Joe, obviously. "You? What do you think about
all the sex part? You seem to be handling it well... surprisingly."

"I don't know." He purred. He tightened his hold of Joe, draping his arm
over Joe's. He liked it too much. It felt different and somehow
better. The firm body of a man felt right, at least in the last few
weeks. He couldn't tell what made it easy. Joe was by no means feminine. He
was masculine as anyone can be, from his physique to his mannerism. "I
expected a little resistance. It never happened. Even when you're topping
me. I thought I would only be comfortable topping."

"You should try topping me again." Joe laughed softly.

"In a week, I promise. Doctor's order." He threw kisses around Joe's neck
and shoulders. He did it with a brush of apology. "I sometimes don't feel
gay enough. You know what I mean? I don't know if I can think of having sex
with a man other than you." Joe didn't react, he could not relate with the
feeling. "I tried watching gay porn. I did get aroused but I couldn't
picture myself fucking one of those actors."

"We talked about this before. I still don't know what to say." Joe sighed
empathically. "Does it matter? As long as you still want to do me," he
then joked.

"I just don't want this to be some sort of fluke. I don't want to wake up
someday and think 'why am I sleeping with a guy?'"

Joe rubbed Tom's forearm. Now that Tom mentioned it, he became worried
too. "Have you tried picturing a threesome? Sex with me is hot right? Just
add a third guy. Maybe Jake or Sam."

The look in Tom's face changed drastically, unseen by Joe. It was
jealousy. Not of Jake, but of Sam. "Sam?"

"Yeah. You said Jake and Sam are hot. Hell, I even think of threesome with
you and one of them from time to time."

"Seriously? Sam?"

Now he could sense the jolt of emotion from the guy behind him. He turned
around to confront it. "Yes, Tom. Sam. We almost had sex twice, and at the
second one I was actually throwing myself at him. As you said, Tom, he's
hot. It's normal if I think of him sometimes. You should too."

However, Tom was unchanged. Jealousy was still his driver. "Should I be
worried? I mean, do you think of him when we have sex?"

"Oh my God, I can't believe you even asked that."

"I can't believe that you said you sometimes think of him."

Joe closed his eyes, inhaled deeply and then exhaled. In his short life he
learned enough that being hot headed will not get him anywhere. He sat up
and put his hand on Tom's bare chest. "I don't think of him when we have
sex and you don't have to be worried. It's just a fantasy." Tom was still
silent. He could not wrap his head around it. Joe was worried that Tom
might think badly about this. "Look. If I had feelings for him do you think
I would say no to him so many times? I love you, I want you. I want to to
be with you. Not him." Tom closed his eyes; Joe didn't know what it
meant. He still had one thing left to say. "I'm sorry if I upset you."

"I'm sorry I reacted that way." Tom closed his hand on Joe's before it left
his skin. "It's just that I've always been jealous of him since I first met
him. You guys were... are so close. In my mind he's still my biggest
rival." Joe smiled. He thought Tom was so sweet to think of that. "Come on,
get in here."

"It's wrong. I'm with you but I still think of him sexually."

"For what it's worth, I was the one who complained about wanting to think
about other men," Tom said as he wrapped Joe again. "I was just being
unreasonable. Don't stop any of your fantasies." He chuckled.

The got quiet for a moment, sinking deeper in their own thoughts. "This is
our first fight, right after your coming-out. I'm sorry for that."

"That's alright." He kissed the back of Joe's head, devouring the fainting
smell of shampoo. "Anyway, how exactly you imagine the threesome would go?"

"Seriously? You want to hear this now?"

"Yeah, sure. You said I should start to think about other men."

"It's pretty graphic." Joe warned.

"It has to be." Tom chuckled.

"Well," Joe was a little bit nervous. Maybe Tom would get upset
again. Maybe not. After all, he asked for it. "I imagine you and I were in
my apartment. I was already naked on the bed. You were just stripping
slowly, teasing me, getting ready to fuck me. You jumped into the bed to
join me, and then we made out. Out of nowhere, Sam barged in on both of us
about to have sex. Instead of getting mad, you invited him in. One by one
you slowly opened his clothes; touching every part of him, feeling the new
sensation of a hairy man. Once he was only in his underwear you made out
with him, rubbing his cock with one hand and squeeze his ass with another."

Joe could feel Tom getting aroused, as proven by his gyrating hands. He
continued, "Then you threw him to the bed, next to me. You ripped his
briefs and slammed your big cock in one hard swoop into his asshole while
making out. He screamed but you just stuck your tongue into his mouth to
shut him up. Your hand started to jerk me off while his hand's playing
with my nipples. Then we did a three-way make out. Suddenly you pulled out
of him, so that you can sit on his cock facing him. You pulled me up to a
tight, strong embrace as we kissed. Slowly you ease your cock into me while
you have his cock in your ass. Then you laid me down on his chest and you
leaned in to kiss me while Sam kissed my neck. We started to fuck for a
long, long time."

Tom was getting friskier, his hips was pressed hard on Joe's ass. "You were
in control, slamming your ass to his cock and at the same time slamming my
ass with your monster. I imagine we were doing it for an hour in that
position. At one point you started to fuck him and me harder. We screamed
at the same time. You screamed very loud as you came in me, and it was a
lot. As you climaxed, your ass tightened crushed his cock and he came into
you. I came without anyone even touching my cock. We just stay in that
position, heaving for breath, before doing that hot three-way kiss again."

"Wow, that's hot. Fuck!" Tom exclaimed.

"I know. Your boner tells me so." Joe pressed his ass to Tom's gigantic
hard cock that was peeking out of his underwear, stopping just above his
navel. "That's one of many. I have one where you caught me cheating on him
and you fucked us both senseless." He teased the idea on Tom. The big guy
just grunted and pressed his cock deeper onto Joe's flesh. "There's also
one where I caught you cheating on him but then both of you fucked me
senseless." Joe laughed.

Tom was savoring Joe's shoulder now. "That's really, really hot."

"I know, you should start thinking of him when you jerk off." Joe chuckled.

"Alright." Tom pulled his hand from Joe's torso and moved it to his cock.

"Hey, not now!" Joe protested. "I want to suck you off!"

"Says the man who says he can't have sex tonight." Tom smiled, this time it
was that smoldering bad- boy grin of his.
