Alvin and Simon: Part 1

--------------------

"Come on Alvin... Knock it off." Simon grumbled as Alvin jumped onto his
bed. As often as this happened, Simon felt like he should be used to it by
now. "Alvin! I said get off!" Simon yelled, angrily sitting up and reaching
for his glasses.

"Come on, get up Simon!" Alvin said excitedly. "You know what today is
don't ya?"

It took Simon a minute and then a big smile started to find its way onto
his face. Of course! How could he forget vacation day?! It's all
he's thought about for the last month! They were nominated for an award
at the IMA's and were scheduled to perform live for the
audience. Instead of flying there for the awards and then flying straight
back, Dave decided to make it into a week long family vacation. Uh, hello
cruise!

"That's what I thought!" Alvin laughed, seeing Simon grin, and then he
jumped down from Simon's bed to go wake his other younger brother,
Theodore.

While Alvin went to go bother Theodore, Simon tried his best to rub the
sleepiness out of his eyes and started making sure he had everything packed
for the cruise. He put on his blue hoodie and made sure he had clothes for
every event he could imagine himself attending. Swimsuit, obviously. Formal
wear, just in case they ate with the captain. He also made sure to pack an
extra pair of glasses and some glass cleaner, because when staying in a
room with Alvin, you never knew what was going to go wrong.

Alvin was literally dragging Theodore out of bed as Theodore was loudly
snoring. "I can't believe he isn't getting up!" Alvin grunted. "Try
something food related," Simon yawned, rolling his eyes.

"Good call, Si! Ahem... Oh boy, is Dave making strawberry pancakes?!" Alvin
yelled.

ZOOM! Simon felt the wind as Theodore crashed past him on his way down the
stairs to the kitchen. Silence, and then the boys heard "Hey! Dave
isn't even down here!"

Alvin and Simon both started laughing when they heard the disappointment in
Theodore's voice. Simon went back to organizing his bag as Alvin took
out his own duffel bag and started throwing random clothes in there.

"You aren't even packed yet?!" Simon squealed?

"Not yet, dad." Alvin said sarcastically. "It's not like I need to
really bring anything. I've got my trusty sweatshirt, and my lucky
swimsuit. What else could I possibly need?"

"Uh, how about something nice? You know, so you don't embarrass me and
Dave and everyone else... and me." Simon said.

"Yeah, out of the two of us, I'm the embarrassment." Alvin shot
back. Simon could take Alvin's remarks most of the time, so he just let
the insult bounce off him, which as always, disarmed Alvin. "But I guess it
wouldn't really be a bad idea to take a suit. You know, for the
ladies." Alvin winked at Simon.

"Yeah, yeah. You're such a stud, Alvin." Simon sighed, closing his
bag. For some reason, he felt uncomfortable. "Let's hurry and get
downstairs so we can actually get something to eat. You know, before
Theodore eats it all."

"Way ahead of you bro!" Alvin yelled already halfway to the stairs. Simon
ran after him down to the kitchen where Theodore already had a box of
cereal open and was noisily crunching his breakfast.

While the three chipmunk brothers ate their way through a box of cereal,
they heard the car door slam outside and in walked Dave with the newest
members of their odd little family: Brittany, Jeanette, and Eleanor.

"Where were you, Dave?" asked Theodore. "I thought you forgot us."

"Of course I wouldn't forget you boys." Dave replied, bringing Theodore
in for a hug. "I had to take the girls to pick out some new
swimsuits. Apparently the ones they had were a little too lame."

"Uh, yeah Dave. They were, like, three months old." Brittany said, snapping
her fingers. "I won't be caught dead in anything but the best."

"Ugh... Drama." Simon thought to himself.

"Hey let's see the suits, Britt!" Alvin said, hopping to the edge of
the table.

The three girls held up their suits and gave their biggest, cheesiest
smiles. The suits were like silk material tied together with an ultra thin
string. "What's the point of wearing something that doesn't cover
anything?" Simon thought to himself again.

"Hahaha nice!" Alvin exclaimed, doing the cartoon eye bulge and jaw
drop. Dave shook his head at Alvin's display, and walked out of the
room. "How about that, Simon?!" Alvin said, nudging him in the ribs. "Ouch!
Uh, yeah they look really, uh, great." Simon said, hoping his brother would
stop making things awkward for him. He felt uncomfortable again, but he
could tell there was something more to it. He just didn't know what it
was. "Yeah, you look pretty!" Theodore chimed in.

"Aw, thanks guys." the three girls said, blushing.

Simon hopped off the table to avoid any more jabs in the side. He ran after
Dave and caught up with him in his bedroom. "So when are we leaving?" Simon
asked, trying his hardest not to sound like an eager kid, even though he
kind of was one. "As soon as I've finished packing, we'll be on our
way." Dave said, running a brush through his hair. "Sigh... He's as bad
as Alvin." Simon thought. "What was that, Simon?" Dave yelled from the
bathroom? Whoops! How'd that slip out? "Uh, nothing Dave!" Simon yelled
running out of the room to find the others.

When Dave finally came out of his room with a suitcase in each hand, all
six of the chipmunks were waiting by the door with sparkling eyes and
excited smiles. Dave couldn't help but smile too. "You guys ready?"
"Girls too!" Jeanette yelled! "It's just an expre... Oh never mind. Are
you guys AND girls ready?" Dave contented. The chipmunks jumped up and down
and cheered! "Alright, let's go!"

And they were off on a trip that would change their lives forever.

----------------------------------

The plan was to fly out of L.A. and head on down to Florida where the
cruise ship would be leaving from. Dave drove them to the airport and they
got there with just about thirty minutes to spare. This turned out to not
be a problem, seeing as the Chipmunks and Chipettes don't really need
to be screened. (It's hard to hide a weapon on a Chipmunk.)

They hurried through the terminal, looking for their gate, and found it
just in time. A woman took the tickets from Dave and the whole gang ran
through the ramp until they finally got to the plane itself. Dave led them
back through the aisle, looking for which seats they had. Simon heard the
whispers and saw the excited pointing in his direction. Sometimes he forgot
he was part of a super successful group of singing Chipmunks.

They finally got to their group of seats. Dave got them three seats right
together, which was great because Simon didn't really feel like
squeezing in next to someone he didn't know.

"Alright guys, I figured I'll sit in the middle, you boys can sit
together, and the girls can share the other seat." Dave told them.

"Ok Dave!" Eleanor said excitedly, hopping into a seat.

"Awww come on Dave!" Alvin whined. "Can't I sit with Brittany? I
don't want to be stuck sitting by Theodore or Simon! They're sooooo
annoying!"

Simon was going to argue with Alvin but the words got stuck in his
throat. He didn't exactly know why, but that really hurt his
feelings. Obviously, at this point, he should've expected Alvin to say
something like that, but this time it stung. His slightly older brother
annoyed him constantly, and he hated that he always had to clean up his
brother's messes, but at the end of the day he kind of looked up to
Alvin. Simon really cared about what Alvin thought about him, as much as he
hated admitting that to himself. Simon just put his head down and glanced
over at the others. Alvin was kind of staring at him with a confused look
on his face. He expected a comeback too, Simon guessed.

"No... I'd rather you just sit with your brothers." Dave replied, not
going into details as to why.

"Ok fine..." Alvin sighed. Now it was Dave's turn to look
confused. It's not every day that Alvin does what he's told without
some sort of bribery or punishment involved.

They settled into their seats. The girls sat on the outside, closest to the
aisle. Dave was in the middle, like he said, so he could keep an eye on
everyone. And Alvin, Simon, and Theodore took the window seat. Theodore was
closest to Dave, then Alvin was in the middle, and Simon was right next to
the window. He just sat staring out at the runway as everyone else chatted
about what to expect when they got on the cruise.

As the plane began to roll away from the airport and down the runway, he
could feel everyone looking in his direction so that they could watch the
plane take off. Simon made sure he didn't turn around so he didn't
have to make eye contact with Alvin. He was still pretty upset with his
brother.

After the plane took off and everyone had calmed down from the adrenaline
rush that came with a speeding vehicle leaving the ground, Simon still just
stared out the window. "It's a five hour flight to Florida and I'm
sitting next to somebody that doesn't even like me." Simon thought
miserably. "I guess I'll just take a nap." He had that feeling again,
but he still couldn't put his finger on what exactly it was.

He started to cozy up in the corner when he felt a tap on his shoulder. He
looked up as Alvin asked, "What are you doing?"

"Trying to take a nap, if that's ok with you." Simon said while still
trying to get comfortable. "Sorry if I'm annoying you, though." he said
angrily.

"Why would that annoy me?" Alvin asked, looking confused. "Are you mad at
me or something?"

"Of course not, Alvin. Why would I be mad at you?" Simon snapped. "It's
not like you constantly insult me or anything..." Simon turned over and
snuggled up in the corner, hoping his brother would just leave him alone so
he could fall asleep and forget about everything for a bit.

About a minute passed and then Simon heard Alvin sigh. "I'm guessing
you're mad that I called you annoying..." he said to the back of
Simon's head. Simon didn't turn around.

"I'm... Uh... I'm sorry I called you annoying, Si." Alvin said
softly.

Simon heard how sincere Alvin's apology was, and it made him feel warm
and fuzzy all over. (No pun intended.)But at the same time, he felt kind of
bad. Why was he making Alvin apologize for something so stupid? Why did he
care so much about what Alvin thought of him?

Simon turned over and looked at his brother. Alvin actually looked a little
nervous, like he didn't know how Simon would react. "It's ok,
Alvin." Simon said, looking away from his brother's brown
eyes. "It's my fault, though. I shouldn't have overreacted. You say
things like that all the time, but I guess this time I wasn't expecting
it." That was the closest he would come to admitting how much he admired
his older brother.

Alvin frowned a little. "I shouldn't be so hard on you all the time, I
guess." he said. "It's the least I can do for my favorite brother." he
whispered, winking.

"Alvin! Shhh!" Simon squealed, looking over at Theodore. He knew it was
wrong, but it made him feel good knowing that his brother liked him the
most. It even brought a smile to his face.

Alvin grinned too, now that he knew his brother wasn't mad
anymore. "Don't think I'm giving you a free pass, though!" Alvin
said, returning to his normal, mischievous self. Simon gave him a playful
shove. "Bring it." he said, smiling.

Alvin playfully shoved him against the window and Simon pushed him back and
they started a wrestling match right there in the seat. "Boys, knock it
off." Dave scolded. "Sorry Dave." both boys said, panting from their little
scuffle. Now that Simon had patched things up with his brother, he
didn't feel all that tired anymore. Alvin gave Simon another playful
shove and sat back up to put his earbuds in so he could listen to his
specially made iPod.

Simon figured he'd just chat with the others and maybe watch the movie
that was about to start. It looked like it was going to be some sort of
romantic comedy. He figured he could use a laugh or two and he didn't
mind the romantic part, but when he usually watched some sort of romantic
movie, he couldn't really relate to it.

He thought about the girls in the seat on the other side of Dave. He really
did like them, especially Jeanette. She was smart and kind, and Simon
really got along with her. But he never felt the sort of connection that
Alvin seemed to have with Brittany. By that, he meant that he wasn't
"attracted" to her. He didn't really know why, but he never really
thought of her as someone he'd want to date. That made things awkward
sometimes, because it almost seemed like he was expected to be with
her. Alvin had Brittany, and Theodore had Eleanor. Although both Theodore
and Eleanor were a little too immature to be thinking about a serious
relationship, Simon knew that someday they would be perfect for each other.

Simon sometimes felt that there was something wrong with him. He never felt
like he could talk to anyone about it, though. He knew if he mentioned it
to Alvin, he'd make fun of him. And Dave would just tell him he's
too young to be worried about relationships. So he just went along with the
group and tried to keep up.

As the movie started, Alvin took his earbuds out for a few seconds to see
what the movie was. He groaned, and then put them back in and closed his
eyes. "I guess it's a little to girly for big, bad Alvin." Simon
thought to himself. The headphone jack to listen to the movie was on
Theodore's side, so Simon tapped on Alvin's shoulder. "Hey could
you plug this in for me." Simon asked pointing to the arm rest. "You're
watching this?" Alvin asked smirking. Simon glared at him until Alvin took
the cord. "Ok, ok. Sorry! Just playing." Alvin said grabbing it from Simon
and leaning over to plug it in. "Thanks, Alvin." Simon said, leaning back
to watch the movie.

Alvin just "mmm hmmm'ed" him and sat back down to keep listening to his
iPod. Simon watched as he closed his eyes again. It looked like he was
going to try to take a nap. Since he was sitting in the middle, it was hard
to get into a comfortable position.

Simon turned back to watch the movie. He felt Alvin shifting in the seat
again and felt something on his shoulder. Simon looked over and saw that
Alvin had his head resting on his shoulder. Normally, Simon would have
shrugged Alvin off, but he was once again surprised by himself. He
didn't mind at all. In fact, it made him feel kind of good to know that
Alvin didn't mind being so close to him. Simon didn't quite know
why Alvin had so much sway over his emotions at the moment, but he
wasn't really analyzing it right now. He was just enjoying the feeling
of happiness that took over his thoughts.

Simon could tell that Alvin had expected to get pushed back to his side of
the seat. When Alvin's head first rested on his shoulder, Simon could
feel the tension in his neck, like he expected the jab from Simon at any
second. Simon just smiled and continued to watch the movie. He could feel
Alvin look up at his face and when he saw that Simon wasn't going to
throw him off, he relaxed and kind of snuggled into Simon's
shoulder. Simon knew that Alvin was just as surprised that he was allowed
to lay there.

After a couple of minutes, Simon could hear Alvin's breathing get more
relaxed as he fell asleep. The rhythmic breathing was starting to make
Simon tired all over again. Since he couldn't lean against the wall
without moving Alvin, he decided to just go along with it and lean his head
on Alvin's. He smiled to himself at how comfortable he was and how he
loved to listen to Alvin breathe. What was wrong with him? Once again, he
didn't analyze it and just stayed where he was.

Simon noticed Dave look over at them and they made eye contact. Dave lifted
an eyebrow and Simon just shrugged. Dave smiled and turned back to watch
the remainder of the movie. Theodore was passed out too, so Simon
didn't feel as self conscious as he might have had other people been
watching. But at the same time, he didn't care. All he knew was that he
was happy, and with that thought he drifted off to sleep.

-----------------------

Simon was jostled awake by a particularly rough patch of turbulence. It
took him a moment to remember where he was and then he noticed Alvin still
sleeping on his shoulder. Every emotion he had felt just a few hours
earlier came rushing back, and the result was an instant smile.

The way Alvin was laying on Simon's shoulder was causing Simon's
arm to fall asleep. He didn't want to move his arm for fear of waking
Alvin, but the feeling was unbearable. Simon thought about moving his arm
up so Alvin would be leaning on his chest a little more and Simon could
drape his arm over Alvin's shoulders. This would be good for two
reasons. One, he wanted feeling back in his right arm. And two, he wanted
to be closer to Alvin. That even sounded strange in his head, but he went
ahead with his plan anyway.

He gently started to raise his arm. "So far, so good." Simon thought. He
got his arm straight up in the air without moving Alvin too much, and he
stretched it as much as he could. Before he could bring his arm back down,
Alvin shifted and slid down onto Simon's lap. Simon froze. He
didn't know what to do. He didn't want to wake Alvin up, because
then he'd go back to his side of the seat. Simon was afraid that this
connection they had made was a one time deal, and he wanted to savor it for
as long as possible. On the other hand, he was afraid that if he didn't
wake his brother up right now, Alvin would wake up on his own and find he
was laying in Simon's lap. Simon didn't know how Alvin would react,
but his first guess was anger.

Before he made his decision, the plane was rocked again by a blast of
turbulence. This time, the plane rocked a little more. Everyone in the
plain bounced a little, but when you're a chipmunk, a simple bounce
sends you rocketing into the air, especially when you paid no attention to
the 'fasten seat belts' light. Alvin and Simon bounced about a foot
in the air and came crashing down on top of each other.

Alvin landed first on his back, and Simon landed on top of him. What are
the odds? Alvin had a moment similar to Simon's where it took him a
moment to remember where he was. Then he noticed Simon on top of him and
looked at him questioningly. "Uh... Buy me dinner first?" Alvin said,
smiling at his own joke.

Simon scrambled off of his brother, apologizing. "Sorry, Alvin. I, uh, was
sleeping and then my arm, uh, I mean your lap, no my lap, and the
turbulence..." Simon just stopped talking. It wasn't helping
anything. "It's fine, bro. I was just kidding. Geez, you're
defensive." Alvin said, stretching his arms and legs. "I'm not
defensive!" Simon panicked. Alvin paused mid-stretch to raise an eyebrow at
Simon. "Whatever you say, Si."

Simon mentally kicked himself for acting so weird. Nothing bad
happened. Why was he suddenly so awkward around Alvin? He tried to regroup
his thoughts before speaking again. "Sleep good?" was all he could think to
say. "Yeah I did, thanks to you!" Alvin said, looking to see where his iPod
landed. "By the way, thanks for letting me lay on your shoulder. I hate
trying to keep myself upright while I sleep. I definitely owe you." Alvin
said, smiling. "Uh, anytime, Alvin!" Simon said quickly. "You can lay on me
whenever you want." Alvin looked at Simon with an amused look on his face
and went back to looking for his iPod. Simon mentally kicked himself again.

Dave and the others were awake now too. The captain came on the intercom to
let the passengers know that they would be landing in 15 minutes. "Alright,
guys. Make sure you have all of your stuff." Dave told them. Alvin found
his iPod and put it away in his bag. Simon put his headphones away and sat
looking out the window at the approaching ground. It was about seven
o'clock p.m. and the sun was setting over the blue expanse of the
Ocean. It sent shivers of excitement up his spine to know that they would
be out on it the very next day.

After the plane landed, everyone rushed off the plane and headed for
baggage claim and the taxi service desk. The hotel was about forty five
minutes away, so Dave wanted to hurry and get going. He was tired from the
long day of traveling and he wanted to catch some shut eye before they woke
up early for the cruise. Since they didn't check any of their baggage,
they were among the first to get in line. They immediately got a car and
Dave hurried them outside to hop in.

Alvin was leading the group and Simon was running to catch up so he could
sit next to him. He was hoping that Alvin might need someone to lean on
again. Or at the very least, he could be by him and just chat with him. He
found it slightly ironic that he'd spent his whole life trying to avoid
Alvin, but now he was trying to be as close as possible to him.

Simon was running so fast, he didn't notice the crack in the sidewalk
directly in front of him. His foot got caught and he flew forward doing a
front flip in the air and landing on his back. He just laid there for a
second, catching his breath. "I am such an idiot..." Simon thought to
himself. "Maybe it's a sign that I shouldn't be so focused on
Alvin."

Simon felt someone grab his hands and yank him to his feet. "You ok, Si?"
Alvin asked, sounding concerned. Alvin's brown eyes were staring
directly into his. He had never noticed how beautiful Alvin's eyes
were. Simon quickly looked away, fearing that Alvin could sense what he was
thinking. He managed to nod a little. "Ok, well let's go!" Alvin said,
yanking his arm. Simon ran after him and jumped in the backseat of the
cab. The driver shut the door and they were off on their way to the hotel.

"You sure you're ok?" Alvin asked, looking Simon up and down. "Yeah
I'm fine now. Thanks for helping me up." Simon replied, smiling at his
older brother. Alvin smiled back and turned to talk to Brittany, who was
sitting on the other side of him. "So much for signs." Simon thought. "It
got me a seat next to Alvin."

He watched Alvin talking to Brittany and he suddenly felt that
uncomfortable feeling that he had been experiencing recently. This time,
Simon knew what the feeling was, though. He was jealous. He couldn't
believe it. Simon was jealous that Alvin wasn't paying attention to
him. Simon knew something was up at that moment. He spent his whole life
wishing that his brother would just leave him alone, and now he was upset
that Alvin was talking to Brittany.

Brittany kept giggling at whatever Alvin was saying to her, and Simon
started to get angry. He liked Brittany, but at this moment, he was just
annoyed with her. Simon wished that Alvin would turn his way and talk to
him about, well, anything! But he kept on chatting with Brittany. "I guess
I don't blame him." Simon thought sadly. "Why would he want to talk to
his nerdy brother when he could be talking to someone he really likes?"

Even though there were five others in the cab, Simon felt alone. He just
sat silently and stared out the window. "Oh come on, you aren't mad at
me again, are ya?" he heard Alvin ask. "Of course not! Why would I be?"
Simon said, quickly turning back towards Alvin and the others. "I don't
know, you just had that same sad look on your face that you had on the
plane. You know, when I said you're annoying?" Alvin said.

"I'm ok, I promise." Simon lied. Alvin wasn't buying it. "Are you
sure there isn't something on your mind?" he asked, looking into
Simon's eyes. "You can talk to me, you know." Simon wanted nothing more
than to try and explain how he's been feeling, but he was afraid that
Alvin wouldn't understand. Being made fun of was one thing, but
freaking Alvin out would kill Simon. Plus, it looked like Brittany was
eavesdropping on the conversation, so Simon just smiled and nodded his
head. "I know, thanks Alvin. But I'm fine, really." Alvin watched his
eyes and gave a half smile right back. Simon didn't know if he was
imagining it or not, but Alvin looked a little disappointed.

Simon told himself to stop moping. It was causing problems and the last
thing he wanted was Alvin to think that there was a problem between
them. Simon put on a smile and joined in the conversations to put
Alvin's mind at ease. He didn't know if he was imagining it or not,
again, but Alvin seemed a little less chatty. And not as hyper as he
usually was.

They finally got to the hotel and Dave checked them in to their room. Dave
got the key and they made their way upstairs to see where it was. When Dave
put the key in the slot and opened the door, all six chipmunks ran inside
to explore their new home for the night. There were two beds pressed up
against the wall with a nightstand in the middle. There was a little step
over to the side which took them down into what might be the family room. A
couch was against the wall of the family room with a t.v. right across from
it sitting on top of a dresser.

Dave was exhausted and he immediately fell down onto one of the two beds in
the room. He mumbled something about everyone getting ready for bed and to
turn the lights off in 15 minutes. Dave had the one bed and Brittany,
Jeanette, and Eleanor called the other bed because "we're girls. We
deserve the bed."

Alvin suggested that they just sleep on the couch, which was honestly
plenty of room for the three boys. There weren't any extra blankets in
the closet, so Simon went and found a few hand towels they could use. They
were the perfect size, and they were incredibly soft!

Dave was already asleep and the girls were almost done getting ready for
bed. Theodore turned the t.v. on and had it on Animal Planet, of course. He
turned it down low and cuddled up in the towel to fall asleep. Alvin was
getting comfortable in the corner of his cushion, and Simon was just laying
there, alternating between watching the t.v. and watching Alvin. After
about ten minutes, Simon noticed that Alvin stopped fidgeting and appeared
to be asleep.

Unfortunately, Dave had fallen asleep so quickly that he hadn't had
time to adjust the thermostat. The room was freezing. Simon would have
turned it up himself, but the panel was in the middle of the wall with no
furniture around it. So Simon just wrapped the towel up around his head so
only his face was exposed and sat there shivering, waiting to get warm.

Simon looked over at Alvin again and noticed that he was shivering
too. Simon jumped up and grabbed his towel. He went over to Alvin and put
his towel over the other one, being very careful not to wake him. He tucked
the edges down under Alvin's body so less heat would escape. He watched
as Alvin slowly stopped shivering. Simon smiled and went back to where he
was sitting before. Now he was even colder, of course, but knowing that
Alvin was comfortable made it all worth it. Simon curled up in a ball and
closed his eyes, hoping the room would magically warm up so he could get
some much needed sleep.

"Simon?" Simon put his head up and looked over at Alvin. Alvin was sitting
up with the towels still around him. "Aren't you cold?" he asked
quietly. "It's not too bad." Simon replied. "I was kinda hot,
actually." he lied. Alvin looked at him for a second, and then gave Simon a
little smile. "You're a terrible liar, you know." Simon smiled a little
too. "I'm not lying, I swear." he said, as a visible shiver rocked
through his body, making his teeth rattle. Alvin just shook his head. "Get
over here." he said, lifting the towels.

Simon started to get nervous. He wanted nothing more than to cuddle up with
Alvin under the warm towels, but he was still confused as to WHY he wanted
to cuddle up with Alvin under the warm towels. "Come on, hurry up!
You're letting all the cold air in." Alvin whined. Simon didn't
know what to say so he just scampered over to where Alvin was laying and
laid down next to him. Alvin gave him the towel to tuck under his body so
they would stay warm. They just laid there shivering, facing each other,
waiting for the warmth to come back.

"Thanks Alvin." Simon finally whispered. He couldn't look away from
Alvin's mesmerizing eyes. "What are you talking about? I should be
thanking you." Alvin whispered back. "Plus, I told you that I owe you!" The
warmth was finally setting in and both boys were starting to stop
shivering. Simon was now aware of how close he and Alvin actually
were. They were practically laying on each other! Simon couldn't
believe that Alvin was ok with sleeping this close to his nerdy brother.

Alvin finally looked away from Simon's eyes. "Night." Alvin whispered
and then turned over so that his back was to Simon. "Night, Alvin." Simon
whispered back. He didn't know where to put his hands so they awkwardly
stayed at his side while he stared at the back of Alvin's head. It was
still a little cold and Simon noticed that Alvin was still shivering a
little every now and then.

Simon decided to do something that would either blow up in his face, or
turn out to be a great idea. He scooted closer to Alvin and draped his arm
over Alvin's chest. Moment of truth time. Simon waited for the "get off
me" or the more subtle scoot away. But Alvin surprised him yet again. Simon
felt him slide back a little to let Simon's arm drape all the way over
him. Alvin immediately stopped shivering as Simon hugged him to his body.

Simon took another chance and nuzzled his face into the back of Alvin's
neck. He loved the way Alvin smelled, like a subtle hint of cologne that
Alvin loved to wear and a boyish smell that can't really be
explained. He loved the way Alvin breathed, and how sometimes he could hear
him give a small, satisfied sigh. He loved the way he could feel
Alvin's heart beating in time with his. He loved... He loved Alvin.

It was like a bolt of lightning hit him. Simon loved Alvin. He's always
loved him as a brother, and sometimes it was difficult to even keep up that
affection. But this feeling was different, and he could tell. All the
jealousy he felt, all the nervousness, all the heartache, all the
happiness... Simon couldn't believe how so much had changed in such a
short amount of time. He went from being annoyed by his older brother to
being in love with him.

Simon almost wanted to talk about how he was feeling, but he felt
Alvin's chest rising steadily and heard his breathing even out. He
wasn't going to wake Alvin up to talk about his emotions. He might get
annoyed, or worse, disgusted. Simon decided to just enjoy the time he was
spending with Alvin, and honestly, it was good enough right now.

As he started to drift off to sleep, holding Alvin close to him, with his
head buried in his neck, he couldn't remember ever feeling happier. "I
love you, Alvin." Simon whispered. That was his last thought before sleep
took him.

----------------------

Simon woke up when he felt the sun shining on his face. It appeared that
Dave forgot to shut the blinds. Simon opened his eye and found himself face
to face with his sleeping brother. As always, it took a second for the
previous night's memories to come crashing back, and when they did,
Simon was grinning from ear to ear. He still had his arm draped over Alvin,
but now they were facing each other, and Alvin's arm had found its way
over Simon's body as well, so they were, in a sense, hugging.

Simon was reminded of how he had come to the realization that he loved
Alvin. He watched him sleep and couldn't help but think about how cute
he looked. His little nose was perfect. His puff of hair was perfectly
messy. His cute mouth was slightly open and Simon loved listening to his
heavy breathing. And Simon really loved Alvin's brown eyes, but of
course he couldn't see them. He really wished he could...

Alvin's eyes slowly blinked open and he found himself looking into the
eyes of his slightly younger brother. "Uh... Hey Simon." he said as his
eyes adjusted to the light. Simon was very aware that he and Alvin were
unbelievably close underneath the towels that they had covered up with. If
Simon leaned forward just a little, their lips would be touching. Simon
actually kind of liked that idea, now that he thought about it. But he was
pretty sure his older brother wouldn't be as excited. He really
didn't want to get up from where he was, but he also didn't want to
make Alvin uncomfortable. So he sat up and let the towels fall off of him.

"Hey Alvin." Simon said, stretching. Alvin sat up too and mimicked
Simon's stretching. "How'd you sleep?" Simon asked. Apparently,
that was all he could ever think of when he tried to make small talk. "I
slept great!" he replied, still stretching. "It helps that you're like
an electric blanket." Alvin said, winking at Simon. Simon was glad that
Alvin didn't feel weird about sleeping together like that.

"How about you?" Alvin asked, glancing up at him. Simon looked down away
from his eyes and smiled a little. "I've never slept better." he said
softly. Simon looked back up at Alvin to watch his reaction. He thought it
looked like a mixture of relief and pride, like maybe he was just as
relieved that Simon wasn't concerned about their sleeping
arrangement. They both stood there not knowing what to say or do. Simon
knew what he wanted to do though. He wanted to snuggle up with Alvin again
and just lay there. Maybe stare into his eyes and slowly lean in
to... Simon shook his head. He needed to distract himself before he said or
did something that would get him in trouble.

"Boys, come eat breakfast and get ready to leave!" Dave shouted from the
bathroom. "Perfect timing." Simon thought, as he jumped off the couch with
Alvin and the half asleep Theodore. The three of them ran into the kitchen
where Dave had poured them bowls of cereal. Brittany, Jeanette, and Eleanor
were already dressed and eating. "Hey!" all six of them said in
unison. They all ate quickly and the boys took quick showers. After they
gathered all of their stuff together, they piled into the taxi Dave got for
them and were off to the loading dock. "Here we come cruise!" Simon thought
excitedly. He looked at Alvin, who was siting right next to him, and caught
his eye. They both smiled and Alvin winked at him. Simon gave him a playful
nudge. "There is no one I'd rather be with at this moment." Simon
thought happily. Little did he know that this was only the beginning.

--------------------

Before they even boarded the ship, Alvin had already gotten himself into
trouble. Simon heard him yell something about the bathroom when they first
got out of the taxi, and he ran off towards the ship. Dave had a lot on his
mind, so he didn't notice Alvin running off ahead. It wasn't until
they got up to the loading ramp that Dave noticed he was
missing. "Where's Alvin?" he asked, only counting five
chipmunks. "Right here, Dave!" Alvin yelled, sliding down the rope from the
ship to the dock. Apparently Alvin had already boarded the ship and managed
to find their room, order them all drinks, and claim which bed would be
his. Dave and Alvin had a short argument about rules, and after Dave was
satisfied that Alvin had listened, they boarded the ship.

"Woooooow!" they all said together. The ship was huge! Simon couldn't
wait to explore the ship, but Dave insisted that they take all of their
stuff to the room. When they got to the room, Simon's jaw dropped. It
was absolutely incredible! Dave had gotten them some sort of deluxe room
package. There were three bedrooms, each with a king size bed, a squishy
couch, and its own bathroom, a small kitchen, a family room with an
electric fireplace and a mounted flat screen t.v., not to mention the flat
screen t.v.'s in each bedroom. It was the coolest room Simon had ever
seen.

Simon saw everyone else's jaws drop as well. Even Dave didn't
expect the room to be this nice. They could almost get away with spending
all their time inside their room, but Simon wanted to explore the ship
ASAP. Simon knew that Alvin wanted to go out and look at the ship too, so
he caught his eye and motioned towards the hallway with his head. Alvin
nodded and smiled and they both slowly backed away from the group and
slipped out into the hall. Once they got outside the door, they both took
off running, laughing for no reason. They had no idea where they were
going, but they were already having tons of fun!

Alvin took the lead as they ran through the ship's halls. Simon
couldn't help but notice that Alvin had a really cute butt. He had
never thought of boys like that, especially his brother, but he definitely
noticed now.

He was so distracted by his thoughts that he didn't notice Alvin had
stopped running. Simon smacked right into him and they both went sliding
across the floor, laughing harder than they ever have before. Alvin had
stopped to look at one of the ship's maps mounted on the wall. They
were both breathless once they finally calmed down enough to just sit up.

"Somebody needs a new pair of glasses." Alvin joked, still panting
hard. "Yeah sorry about that. I was, uh, distracted." Simon said, trying
hard not to blush. "I'm sure you were." Alvin said, giving his most
evil grin. Simon nervously laughed and took off running. "Race you to the
deck!" he yelled behind him. "Hey! No fair!" Alvin yelled, taking off after
him.

Simon probably could have beat Alvin if the race were fair, so he
wouldn't have any trouble beating Alvin with a head start. But when
they were almost to the top of the ship, Simon slowed down just a little to
let Alvin pass him and win. "HA!" Alvin yelled when they both stopped
running. "You can't even beat me when you cheat!" Simon tried to act
disappointed while he was smiling inside. Alvin thrived on winning, so
losing was a win-win. Simon put up with the taunts and victory laps so that
he could enjoy Alvin's good mood.

After Alvin was done gloating, they both started to explore the top
deck. They tried their best to stay away from the really crowded areas,
because whenever a fan spotted them, they would tell everyone around them
and run up for an autograph. It got a little annoying after the hundredth
time. Luckily, seeing as they were pretty small, it was easy to avoid being
seen when running through the ship.

The things they thought would be the most fun were what stuck in
Simon's mind the most. The pool was awesome, of course. And it had a
huge slide! He was excited about the clubs too, because he loved to dance!
They both even managed to explore the casino, since they were small enough
to not get noticed.

"We should probably get back to the room before Dave gets too worried."
Simon said to Alvin. "Yeah you're right." sighed Alvin. They ran back
the way they came, weaving in between the crowds of people and pretending
they didn't hear fans shouting for autographs.

When they got back to the room, Dave gave them a lecture in being
responsible and not leaving without telling him where they were going. "We
can have fun and follow the rules, right boys?" he asked. "Sure thing,
Dave!" Alvin and Simon said. Dave made them go to their room and unpack
their clothes. It took Alvin like two minutes, seeing as he had very little
to unpack. Although it didn't take Simon much longer. He just needed to
make sure everything was organized and put away nicely. He looked around
the room again and noticed the one bed again. Simon realized that he would
be sleeping with Alvin again, and he instantly got excited. If it was
anything like the night before, tonight would be amazing!

After they were done, they went into the family room where everyone else
was. Dave laid out the plan for the day. Since most of the day was over
already, he suggested they just swim a little, eat dinner, and go to bed a
little early so they could get up early the next day and just have
fun. This sounded fine to everyone, especially Simon. The sooner he could
snuggle up with Alvin, the better.

Swimming was going fine, until Alvin started drowning everyone. He kept
jumping off the edge onto whoever was nearest to the edge. Simon was just
floating on his back, relaxing, when he saw the sun blacked out by a
falling chipmunk. Alvin landed on him, pushing them both under the
water. Simon got hit so hard, his glasses flew off and floated to the
bottom.

"Alvin!" he gasped when his head broke the surface. "Oh sorry, didn't
see ya there." Alvin said, trying to keep a straight face. "I lost my
glasses, and I can't see a thing." Simon said, trying not to get
angry. "Maybe you should get them, then." Alvin said, shrugging. "I
CAN'T SEE, ALVIN!" Simon yelled. So much for not getting mad. "Ok
geez... Hang on." Alvin said, diving beneath the water. He came back up and
handed Simon his glasses. "Here you are, your majesty." he said
sarcastically. Simon put them on and hopped out of the pool. He was going
to get Alvin back, one way or another.

Simon let Alvin swim around and get comfortable for a while, before he
started to make his move. He made sure Dave was on the other side of the
pool, paying attention to Theodore, and he got ready to run and jump onto
Alvin. "Sweet revenge." he thought with a devilish smile. When Alvin
floated close to the edge, Simon took a running leap towards him. "Got ya!"
he yelled as he made contact with Alvin. Alvin's eyes snapped open as
he was swept under the water.

Simon quickly swam to the surface and started laughing. "That's what
you get for almost drowning me, Alvin!" he said looking around. "Alvin?"
Simon said still looking. Simon happened to look down beneath the water and
saw that Alvin was still under the water, and he wasn't moving.

"Alvin!" Simon yelled, panicking. He dove beneath the water and grabbed
Alvin by the arm and pulled him to the surface. He swam to the side as fast
as possible and with strength he didn't even know he had, he swung
Alvin up and over the side of the pool. Simon jumped out and looked at
Alvin's face. His eyes were closed and it didn't sound like he was
breathing.

"Dave! DAVE!" Simon shouted, but Dave was still on the other side of the
pool and there was no time to run and get him. Simon didn't know what
to do. He remembered reading about CPR, but he was so panicked he
didn't know where to start. He started to tear up as he struggled to
think of an answer. "Alvin?" he whimpered. "Please get up, Alvin. I'm
so sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you." Simon was crying now. "Please
don't die. I... I love you." he choked out.

He turned away from Alvin and started yelling for help when he felt
something cover his mouth. He whipped around and saw it was Alvin putting
his hand over his mouth. "Simon! It's ok, I'm fine. I was just
playing." Alvin said quickly. Simon was so relieved, he knocked Alvin's
hand away and immediately hugged him as hard as he could. "Whoa, easy
there." Alvin laughed.

Then Simon's relief was replaced with a mixture of embarrassment and
anger. He was embarrassed that he had broke down in front of his
brother. He was angry that Alvin had put him through all of that. For about
thirty seconds, Simon's world had ended. He knew that the anger came
from love and concern, but it didn't calm him down. It made him
angrier.

Simon pushed Alvin away. "How could you do that to me?" Simon said, tearing
up again. Alvin's smile was immediately gone, and instead he now looked
scared and confused. "What? I... I was just playing." he stammered. "I just
wanted..." he trailed off as Simon exploded. "You just wanted what, Alvin?!
To humiliate me?! To get me in trouble?! To see me suffer while I watched
the person I lo... while I watched you die?! Is that what you wanted?! Well
congratulations, Alvin. Mission accomplished."

Simon ran off after yelling at his brother. "I'm sorry, Si!" he heard
Alvin shout after him, but he just kept going. He realized that he
couldn't go to the room, because he couldn't reach the card slot,
so he just walked around the ship for a bit, feeling sorry for himself. He
also felt stupid, both for breaking down in front of Alvin and for yelling
at him. It was just like Alvin to do something like that, and he
should've expected it or maybe just let it go, but his emotions got in
the way. "I'm a mess." Simon thought sadly.

Simon saw a clock and noticed that he had five minutes to join everyone
else for dinner. He walked there slowly and saw everyone sitting at a
table. He noticed that the only seat left was next to Alvin. "How
convenient." he thought. Simon hopped up into the chair and looked
everywhere but the seat directly next to him.

"Where were you, Simon?" Jeanette asked. "Yeah, where were you, Simon?"
Dave repeated. "I just went to the bathroom and then I got lost." Simon
said looking at his plate of food. He wasn't very hungry, but he ate a
little anyway so people wouldn't ask what's wrong. He could feel
Alvin staring at him the whole time, but he just looked everywhere else and
listened to the others chat about their day and how fun the cruise was
already. Simon wanted to look over at Alvin and apologize for being such a
mess, but he was still too embarrassed. He wasn't even that mad
anymore, he just felt stupid.

After they were all done eating, Dave reminded them that they had agreed to
go to bed early so they could spend all day tomorrow having fun. They
grumbled a little, but ended up agreeing that it was for the best. Dave let
them in the room when they got downstairs, and everyone said goodnight
before heading off to their own room. Simon went in to their room, used the
bathroom quickly (which is difficult seeing as everything is way too big),
and immediately got into bed. He took off his glasses and laid them on the
dresser and wrapped the covers around him. He saw that Theodore was
watching t.v. and saw Alvin standing at the door, not knowing what to
do. Simon felt really bad, but when they made eye contact, Simon turned
over and looked the other way.

Simon heard Alvin sigh, and heard him go into the bathroom. He hoped Alvin
would climb into bed so he could apologize to him, but when Alvin came out,
he turned off the lights and went over to the couch with Theodore to watch
t.v., and maybe even sleep there. Simon started to tear up again for like
the tenth time that day. "So much for a great night." he thought. All he
wanted to do was hold Alvin and cuddle, but Simon knew he ruined that for
himself. He turned over and closed his eyes, but he wasn't going to be
able to sleep knowing that he was fighting with the one person he cared
about the most.

About twenty minutes had passed and Simon felt someone get into bed behind
him and slip under the covers. "It's probably Theodore." he thought
sadly. He knew Alvin would want to sleep on the couch so he could get away
from his insane brother that kept crying hysterically. "In my defense, I
thought he was dead." he thought. "That's kind of a compliment when you
cry because someone died." Simon reasoned to himself.

Simon felt Theodore start to pull the covers his way, which was kind of
annoying. "Theo, stop it." Simon hissed in the dark. Theodore kept pulling
the covers, not listening to a word Simon was saying. "I said stop!" he
said angrily, turning towards him. Simon found himself face to face with
Alvin, who was just staring at Simon as he pulled the covers his
way. "Oh... uh... sorry Alvin. I thought you were Theodore." he said
quietly, breaking eye contact.

"Oh, so it's ok if I do it, but Theo can't? That doesn't seem
fair." Alvin said with a small smile. Simon didn't know what to say, so
he just nodded and still didn't look into Alvin's eyes. Alvin's
smile went away and he took a deep breath. "Simon, I'm sorry I..." he
started, but Simon cut him off. "Don't apologize, Alvin. I already feel
bad enough." he said, still looking at Alvin's chest. Alvin reached out
a finger under Simon's chin and brought his eyes up to meet his. "I
want to apologize, Si." he said softly.

Simon didn't know what it was about that moment. Maybe it was
Alvin's sweet aroma that Simon loved so much. Maybe it was his
beautiful eyes that turned Simon to mush. Maybe it was Alvin using the
nickname Simon adored. Maybe it was hearing how sincere Alvin was while he
tried to apologize. Or maybe it was all those things put together. The next
thing he knew, he had leaned forward and kissed Alvin on the
lips. Electricity went through Simon's body as he finally kissed the
one person that he loved more than anything.

Alvin was shocked, and so was Simon. Simon couldn't believe he had
actually done it. Alvin had never looked more confused. He was just staring
at Simon with wide eyes. "You just... uh... kissed me." he said to
Simon. Simon just nodded. "And you meant to." he said, not really
asking. Simon nodded anyway. Alvin seemed a little more shocked than Simon
would have liked, but he hadn't run out of the room
screaming... yet. So far so good. "Alvin, I..." Simon started to say, but
Alvin cut him off. "Don't say anything, Simon. I need to think for a
minute." he said, still not blinking.

Simon just laid there and watched Alvin breathe deeply. He could see a
million different thoughts racing through Alvin's mind as he tried to
process this unexpected turn of events. It was a good five minutes before
he began to blink again. He started off slow. "You kissed me." he said
again. Simon nodded. "You wanted to kiss me." he said. Simon nodded. "You,
Simon, wanted to kiss me, Alvin, even though I am a boy... and your
brother." he said slowly, picking each word carefully. Simon nodded
again. "Uh... Why?" Alvin asked, looking incredibly confused.

Simon thought about it for a minute, trying to come up with the best
possible answer. "Because... I love you." he stated simply. Alvin still
looked confused. "Well I love you too, but what does that have to do with
anything?" he asked. Simon tried to rethink his answer to make it more
clear. "I don't just love you Alvin... I'm in love with you." he
said, hoping he was being more clear. Alvin still looked confused, and then
realization washed over him. His confusion was replaced by a look of
curiosity. "But I'm a boy." he said again, not being able to express
his thoughts in a more clear way. Simon nodded and gave a tiny
smile. "I'm aware, Alvin." he said. "And I'm your brother." he
said, as though he were just breaking the news to Simon. Simon just smiled
again. "I think I know that, too."

Simon was relieved that the look Alvin had was more curiosity and
confusion, rather than anger and disgust. "How long..." Alvin cut himself
off. "Have I known how I feel?" Simon finished for him. Alvin nodded. "Not
very long at all..." Simon answered truthfully. "It just sort of hit me."
Simon said, looking over to make sure Theodore wasn't getting up. "Oh,
he's asleep." Alvin said, apparently reading Simon's mind. Simon
looked back as Alvin thought of more questions.

"So is this why you've been so... uh... different?" Alvin asked
hesitantly. Simon looked down for a second before answering. "Yeah, I
didn't really know what was going on with me." he said, looking up into
Alvin's eyes again. "But I figured it out fast." Alvin nodded and
thought of another question. "So you think I'm... uh... You think that
I'm..." he struggled,to think of a good word. "Cute?" Simon
asked. Alvin blushed a little and nodded. "Yeah... I do." Simon said,
smiling and blushing a little too. Alvin smiled a little for the first
time, which was the best thing Simon could have hoped for.

"Have you always been interested in boys?" Alvin asked. Simon shook his
head. "Do you like anyone else?" he asked. Simon shook his head
again. Simon noticed that Alvin almost looked relieved at the news that he
wasn't interested in other boys. "So I kind of turned you... you
know... gay?" he asked quietly. Simon thought about it for a minute and
then shrugged. "I don't know... I guess you did." he answered. Alvin
smirked a little. "I'm more of a stud than I thought." he said to
himself. Simon couldn't help but smile... and agree.

Simon watched Alvin lay there thinking of what to say next. "To be honest,
I kind of thought that something like this might happen. Not necessarily
with me, just in general." Alvin said. "Really?" Simon asked,
surprised. "Yeah... I could tell you weren't into Jeanette, and since
you both are like the same person, I figured you must have a
different... taste." Alvin said, looking like he might laugh. But he
didn't, which Simon really appreciated. "Thanks for not making fun of
me, Alvin." Simon said. Alvin nodded a little. "And sorry I kissed you."
Simon said quietly.

Alvin cocked his head to the side, and stared at Simon. "To be honest, I
really didn't mind." he said. Simon looked at him questioningly. "I
mean, I don't know how I feel about this, but the kiss wasn't that
bad, actually." he clarified. "It was my first..." Simon muttered. "Huh?"
Alvin said leaning closer. "I said it was my first kiss." Simon said a
little louder, blushing. Now Alvin did laugh. He was quiet, but he laughed
pretty hard. Simon glared at him until he stopped. "Oh... Sorry." he said,
trying to look serious.

Simon sighed. "I've never liked anyone enough to actually try it." he
said shyly. "Until tonight." he added as an afterthought. Alvin giggled a
little, but stopped when Simon glared again. "Who have you kissed?" Simon
demanded. "Pfft... Brittany. Duh." he said like Simon was crazy. "How was
it?" Simon asked. "Pretty good I guess. I mean she kept doing this thing
where..." Simon held up a hand. "I meant, uh, ours." he said
impatiently. "Oh well, like I said it wasn't bad. To be honest I was a
little too shocked to notice how the kiss was." Alvin said with an eyebrow
raised.

Simon stared into his eyes and leaned forward a little. "Uh, what are you
doing?" Alvin asked. Simon leaned in a little closer. "Ok, I told you I
didn't know how I felt about everything." Alvin said warningly. Simon
leaned in closer still. "Simon, I need some time to think about this!" he
said, panicking. Simon didn't care anymore. He knew what he wanted. He
also noticed that despite Alvin's objections, he wasn't scooting
away. Simon took it as a good sign.

He leaned in closer as Alvin kept stuttering his excuses, and finally he
was about an inch away from Alvin's lips. "Simon, I..." he stopped. He
was out of ammo. Simon finally felt his lips cover Alvin's as they laid
there together in bed. Simon felt the surge of electricity again as he
slowly hugged Alvin to him. Simon had no idea what he was doing, but he
knew enough to give what he thought was a pretty good open mouth
kiss. Alvin was still just lying there, not contributing to the kiss very
much. Simon broke away and leaned back a little, waiting for a reaction
from Alvin.

He could tell Alvin still had a million thoughts buzzing through his
head. "Was I any good?" Simon asked nervously. Alvin just nodded a
little. "Do you want me to stop?" he asked. Alvin just stared at him,
looking like he didn't know how to answer. Simon felt a little
disappointed. "I understand, Alvin. I shouldn't have done that. I
didn't mean to make you uncomfo..." Simon was interrupted when Alvin
leaned forward, wrapping his arm around Simon's head and pulling him
into a deep kiss.

It was Simon's eyes that widened in shock this time, but he slowly
closed them as a little moan of satisfaction escaped his now occupied
lips. Alvin moved his lips up and down, taking control of Simon in every
way. Alvin leaned back and licked his lips. "Now, was I any good?" Alvin
asked, grinning. Simon nodded quickly and grabbed him and pulled him back
in for some more. Alvin snickered a little and pressed his mouth against
Simon's again. They kissed passionately for another minute or two,
although to Simon it felt like it lasted a lifetime. He was in his own
personal heaven.

Alvin broke the kiss again and leaned back, panting. Simon tried to kiss
him again but he held him back. "Hang on a minute, I need to settle down a
little first." he breathed heavily. "I haven't done this in a while and
my jaw kinda hurts." Simon laid back on his side and pouted a little. He
was glad that Alvin was open to everything so far, but he wanted more. He
looked over and smiled at him. "What?" Alvin asked, looking
over. "You're just so... perfect." Simon said, looking away, and he
really was perfect. Everything about him made Simon's heart ache, in a
good way.

Simon was a little intimidated by how cute Alvin was. He definitely
wasn't smiling anymore. "Oh come on, what?" Alvin said, noticing
Simon's mood change. "It's just... you really are so
perfect. You're way too good for me." Simon said sadly. "Not that
I'm suggesting that we're together!" he added quickly, not wanting
to scare Alvin off. Alvin smiled and turned to stare at Simon. "I'm
going to tell you something that you can never tell anyone." Alvin said
quietly. Simon turned over too and nodded.

"Ok, well I've actually had thoughts about me and you, uh, being more
than just brothers." he stopped to see if Simon would interrupt, but Simon
just stared at him intently, hanging on his every word. "It actually
wasn't too long ago that I had this dream. It started out with me and
Brittany, but we got in some sort of fight, which was close to how things
were going in the real world, but anyway... I was sitting on the edge of my
bed, crying, and you came in and asked what was wrong. I was embarrassed
that you saw me crying, but you just hugged me and told me everything would
be ok. At that moment, I realized that you were the one person in my life
that didn't ever stop helping me. No matter what happens, you're
always there to pick up the pieces. In the dream, I kissed you on the cheek
for some reason and the next thing I knew, we were rolling around under the
covers, uh, you know, making out." he blushed at that part. Simon nodded
and
 smiled a little.

"When I woke up, I was freaking out because I thought it had really
happened. But I saw you sleeping over in your bed, so I relaxed a
little. But as I thought about what had happened in the dream, I felt a
little sad that it hadn't actually happened. It felt so real, and to be
honest, it felt... right. You really have always been there for me, and
that's what I have always looked for in a relationship. For the next
day or two, I imagined you and I being together, but could never bring
myself to act on it. Plus I thought something was wrong with me, so I
eventually forgot about the dream until about 10 minutes ago when you first
kissed me." Alvin smiled at that part, and Simon smiled too. Alvin leaned
in and kissed Simon's nose, sending shivers down his spine.

"Oh, and this definitely stays between us, but I've always thought you
had a cute nose and I think you look really cute in your glasses and uh..."
Alvin trailed off. Simon nodded for him to continue. "I've kinda
noticed your, uh, butt is cute?" he said almost as a question, seeing how
Simon would react. Simon grinned his biggest smile yet. "I thought the same
thing running down the hall. You know, when I got 'distracted' and
ran into you." Simon said laughing a little. Alvin laughed too. "I knew
it!" he said. "Sure you did..." Simon said, rolling his eyes.

Alvin looked over at Simon and smiled. "So what about me?" he asked. "What
about you?" Simon replied. "I mean, what do you like about me?" Alvin
clarified, blushing some more. Simon didn't even have to
think. "Everything." he said simply. He could tell Alvin wanted specifics,
so he went on. "I love staring into your brown eyes. I love how your hair
is always perfectly messy. I love listening to you breathe when you
sleep. I love that you stick up for me when I need you too. I love the way
you apologize when we fight, even though it's usually just me
overreacting. I love your smile, and the way you laugh. I love your lips,
which I didn't know 'til tonight. I love..." he trailed off. "You."
he said in his head, but he didn't want to pressure Alvin. Alvin looked
astonished. "Those were the nicest things anyone has ever said to me." he
whispered. Simon just shrugged. "They're true." he said with a smile.

Alvin looked a little teary eyed, but then he smiled widely. "Don't
forget my butt." he said laughing. "How could I?" Simon said,
winking. Simon leaned in for another kiss but Alvin held him back
again."Before we do anything else, I just want to ask you something." he
said. Simon nodded, feeling a little nervous. "Ok, um, where do you want
all this to go? Like is this a one time thing or...?" Alvin left his
question open to give Simon options, which made Simon more nervous. He
didn't know how to answer, because he didn't know what Alvin
wanted. "I meant what I said, Alvin. I really love everything about you."
Simon said nervously. "But I understand that this is all really new, so
I'm going to leave it up to you." he finished. Alvin nodded and looked
relieved that Simon wasn't putting a lot of pressure on him. Simon was
relieved, too, that he had apparently said the right thing.

Simon leaned forward again to kiss Alvin, and this time he didn't hold
him back...
