It still didn't seem real. Artie had been texting Finn just a few days
earlier. And now Artie was sitting in a cemetary, watching Finn being
lowered into the ground. When he had heard about Finn's death, Artie
hadn't known what to feel. He was sad obviously. He was angry. He was
confused. Artie had lost a grandparent. Aunts and uncles. This somehow
seems so different. Finn was so young. The life ahead of him had seemed
so full of possibility. But all that was gone. One day Finn had been
walking around, smiling, singing, laughing. And the next day, he was gone.

It had been a few days, but Artie just couldn't shake this feeling. He had
talked to his friends in glee club. He had talked to Emma, the guidance
counselor. He had even looked up grief online. But it seemed so
different. Hi chest literally felt heavy. And of all the people he had
talked to and all the things he had shared, there was one thing that he
couldn't share with any of them. Finn had been his first.

Artie could remember like it was yesterday the day that Finn had come over
to his house to study. How Finn had been upset about grades and the
situation with his girlfriend. Finn had broken down and cried in Artie's
arms. And then it had gone further. Finn had helped Artie discover a part
of himself that he hadn't really even known was real. And even though he
and Finn hadn't done anything like that for a couple of years, the emotion
was still there. The affection he had for Finn was real. It wasn't like
Artie was in love with Finn, but Finn had been special to him. And now he
was gone.

Artie was sitting alone at home when he got a text message. He almost
didn't want to look at his phone. He had gotten to the point where he
didn't want to talk to anyone. He didn't want to sing any more sad songs.
He just wanted to be alone in the dark. But he finally did look at his
phone. It was Sam. Sam, like Finn, had a special place in Artie's heart.
Sam also had helped Artie to explore his sexuality. Moreover, Sam had made
Artie not only feel good, but feel good about himself. He and Sam hadn't
done anything together in a long time too. Both had dated girls and had
seemed to move on from the short but intense bromance that they had shared.
But now, Sam was just the person that Artie needed to see. Artie began to
type a reply.

Twenty-five minutes late, there was a knock on Artie's front door. Artie
opened the door to see Sam. Sam flashed a smile that while it wasn't fake,
it was definitely forced. Artie did the same. Not his usual tooth-filled
grin, but a small small. Artie wheeled back from the door to give Sam room
to walk in. He turned his chair to wheel into the next room when he felt
Sam's strong arms grab him around the chest gently but firmly. He felt
Sam's head nuzzle next to his own and into his neck. He felt the dampness
on Sam's face. The hug was deep and had taken over Artie's body. He was
barely able to pull a hand free to pat Sam gently on the head. And when
Artie spoke, he realize that he too crying.

"I know Sam. I know," Artie said. "I miss him too."
