Bouncing Back
Chapter 2

Josiah and I sat in silence as the taxi drove down the high-way. I didn't
know what to say or how to open up a conversation. This is probably one of
my weaker points and probably one of the reasons why I became a writer. I'm
not a people person at all. But as the taxi drove on, I looked out the
window and saw the ocean. I looked again at Josiah but he seems to be lost
in thought.

"Where is this hotel?" I asked.

Josiah's head jerked up and smiled upon realizing that I'm still
there. "You'll see. But we're nearby already."

I shrugged and went back to looking out the window. A few minutes later,
the taxi was driving in Casa Del Mar. My eyes widened and quickly looked at
Josiah who was grinning again. He scratched the back of his neck and
stated, "I love the beach and this is one of the hotels that is close to
the beach. So here we are."

"I can't even afford this." I stated in awe. "Music brings money huh?"

"Nah. The recording studio paid for this. I'm here anyway until my place
back in the city is fixed. Leaks and all."

"Oh."

Josiah paid for the taxi fair and told me to stay in the taxi for a
moment. He jumped off the other side of the taxi and ran towards my side
and opened the door. I looked at him weirdly and shook my head.

"You're my guest."

"And being your guest means I have doors opened for me?"

Josiah laughed and motioned for me to get out. He tapped the taxi's roof
and ushered me inside the hotel. The bellboy in the lobby greeted us and
seemed annoyed that we were getting back at this hour. I would have been
pissed off too since the lobby was pretty deserted and dark. Only a few
lamps were lit. I have to my eyes squinted to see where I am going. My
discomfort must have been obvious to Josiah since he quickly took my hand
and guided me to the elevator.

Once inside the elevator, I grew conscious to the fact that Josiah was
still holding my hand. I didn't mind though and he seems to not say
anything so I kept it that way. The elevator stopped at his floor and he
guided me again towards his room.

"It's not much." Josiah started as he turned the door to his hotel room
open. "But it's my home for at least a week."

I stepped in and admired the room. It was huge for one person and I could
see that it has a view of the Santa Monica Pier. I quickly went to the
window and tried to make out what's going outside.

"Do you want coffee?"

I quickly turned and saw that Josiah was holding the mug of the coffee
maker. I nodded in reply, "Coffee sounds good."

"Okay. I'll just brew a fresh pot. You go make yourself comfortable. I'll
call you when it's ready."

I walked around the room, finding a queen sized bed in front of the TV. I
glanced at the nearby sofa and sat on it, feeling the soft pillows on it. I
removed my shoes and let my toes wiggle on the carpet. This is one of my
favorite parts of staying in a hotel. I leaned back on the sofa and I feel
my eyes slowly dropping.

Probably a few hours later I felt somebody was moving me. I tried to hold
on to the sofa as much as I can but my body gave up as I felt myself being
lifted up in the air. I slowly opened my eyes and found myself staring up
at Josiah who was looking down at me.

"Putting you to bed." Josiah whispered.

I shook my head. "Put me down please. I'm comfortable at the couch."

"Don't be silly. It's a queen sized bed. We can both fit on it."

I tried to find some way to get out of this and I quickly muttered the
first thing that came to my mind, "Coffee."

"I was about to ask if you wanted espresso when I found you sleeping on the
couch already so I decided to scrap the coffee."

"I..."

Josiah shook his head. He placed me gently on the bed and placed the
blanket over me. "Unless you want to shower, you can go to sleep."

"Sleep..."

Josiah smirked. "I thought so."

Josiah then did what I never imagined he will do. He brushed the hair
falling on my forehead and kissed me softly there. He then breathed in
deeply and smiled. "I'm going for a shower. You go sleep."

I nodded and didn't remember anything else.

"GET OUT!" I cried as I threw the first thing I could get my hands
on. Unfortunately it was a teddy bear.

"Angel, please!" Chris cried out. "We could talk this over!"

"Talk what over Chris? Talk about how you have your fucking legs up in the
air while you were cooing Joe?"

"I never did it to hurt you."

"Oh, sure. You only did it just so you could get your rocks off. Get the
hell out of my house!"

"This is my house too!"

"If you're not going to go, I swear to God I'm going to call the cops and
have you thrown out." I stood my ground. I wasn't going to let him get the
upper hand in this. He knows that if I leave the confines of this house I
would be lost and scared and I would be crawling back into his arms.

Chris' head hanged as he sighed. He didn't say another word as he quietly
left the room. As soon as he was gone, I fell down on the bed and started
to cry.

"Angel."

Somebody was shaking me awake.

"Angel."

I opened my eyes and saw Josiah leaning above me, his eyes full of
concern. He sighed as soon as he saw my eyes open and asked, "Are you
okay?"

"I was sleeping."

"You were crying in your sleep."

I shook my head. "Bad dream. That's all it was, a bad dream."

Josiah leaned back down on the bed beside me. "That must have been some
dream. Want to talk about it?"

I lie on my side and quickly saw that he was naked. At least from what I
could see, his lower body was covered by the blankets. "You're naked."

Josiah laughed. "I'm wearing boxers." He pulled the covers slightly down to
show me. "Normally I sleep naked but I have company so I'm wearing boxers."

I stared at his half-naked body, his chest with a mat of light hair on it
and his long arms. He had his right arm under his head and I could see the
light blonde hairs on his armpit. I know I was staring but I couldn't help
myself. I was snapped back to reality when Josiah coughed.

"Earth to Angel, hello?"

I shook my head and groaned. "It's nothing."

"Are you sure? Do you want me to hold you and make sure the mean nightmare
monsters don't come back?"

"Shut up." I knew he was teasing since he was smiling. I got back on my
side but I felt him scooting over to my side. I stiffened at the contact
and he chuckled behind me. "What are you doing?"

"Usually when I have nightmares when I was young, my dad used to hug me
until I fall asleep again." Josiah explained. "I know that you were having
one even if you said it was nothing. It's nearing 4 in the morning, go get
some sleep."

I nodded. I could feel his hot breath on the back of my neck and his arm
draped around me. He was in fact spooning me at this time. I tried to sleep
but I can't. Here I am in the hotel room of one of my idols and he is
holding me in his arms to sleep. I could hear him breathing softly now. I
calmed myself down and slowly went to sleep.

/*\/*\/*\/*\/*\/*\/*\/*\/*\/*\/*\/*\/*\/*\/*\/*\/*\/*\/*\/*\/*\/*\/*\/*\

I woke up the moment a bit of sun started to show. I slowly opened my eyes
and found that the curtains were left open and the sun was slowly peeking
out. I tried to move and I froze when I felt Josiah still hugging me and
his morning wood poking me just above my ass. I tried to get him off of me
since I have to go the bathroom. I got his arm up and off and I quickly ran
to the bathroom to relieve myself.

As I flushing the toilet, Josiah appeared out of nowhere and said, "There's
a spare toothbrush. I took it out last night."

I nodded as I moved over to the sink. I could hear him peeing beside me but
I could force myself to look. As he flushed the toilet, I breathed a sigh
of relief and started brushing my teeth.

I was busy brushing my teeth when I felt him lean his head on my
shoulder. I stopped brushing and looked at the mirror. He was smiling and
said, "Don't stop on my account."

"I'm not used to somebody watching me while brushing my teeth." I replied
as I spat out at the sink. "No offense."

Josiah smiled and shrugged. He straightened up and grabbed his toothbrush
and started brushing his teeth as well. I finished my business and left the
bathroom for him to do his own thing. I sat back down on the bed and I
heard the shower going on.

I looked at my phone and saw that David has called me five times since last
night and he has sent me ten texts as well asking me where I was. I decided
to send him a text explaining where I am and who I am with.

Five minutes hasn't passed, David called me up and a barrage of questions
came at me. As I was explaining everything, Josiah came out of the bathroom
with only a towel on. I quickly ended the call after promising David that I
will meet him for lunch later.

Josiah turned at me and smiled. "Who was that?"

"David."

"Ah. The ever elusive friend."

I laughed. I watched Josiah as he put on a pair of boxers. He wasn't even
trying to hide his naked body but being the good guest that I am, I averted
my eyes and moved towards the window.

"The shower's all yours." Josiah stated. "I'll lay out the clothes you
could wear when you get out."

"Can't I have them inside the bathroom?"

"Come on now Angel. You saw me naked just now; don't tell me you're those
types that are shy to show their body."

I shook my head. "I guess not." I was about to head towards the bathroom
when I quickly stated, "Oh. David wants to meet us for lunch later."

"Sure." Josiah answered. "It'll be nice to meet this friend of yours that
you have been talking about."

I sighed as I stepped into the bathroom. I looked back and I saw him
putting out some clothes for me to wear. He was still shirtless but he
already has pants on. He was singing Sunday Morning by Maroon 5 softly to
himself as he went on with his business. I closed the door and went on with
the shower.

A few minutes later, I was out of the shower and wearing a towel around my
waist. I stepped out and found boxers, jeans and a white v-neck shirt. I
looked around to see where Josiah is. Not seeing him anywhere, I decided to
remove the towel and started putting on the clothes.

As I was about to put on the shirt, Josiah blurted, "That was a good show."

I turned and my feet got tangled with each other and I fell down on the bed
with a loud thump. Josiah started laughing and moved to my side. "Oh man,
so sorry for scaring you like that."

"What the hell. How long have you been there?"

Josiah shrugged. "Just long enough." He winked and reached out for my
hand. As I grabbed hold onto it, I felt electricity coursing through me and
I started blinking fast.

"Are you okay?" Josiah asked, his voice sounding very concerned.

"I'm fine." I nodded. "You sure it's okay for me to wear your boxers?"

"Do you want to go commando?"

I stared at Josiah and he started laughing again. "Oh man, the look on your
face whenever it looks confused cracks me up. It's so cute. Shall we go?"

"Go where?"

"I'm going to be your tour guide, remember? Unless you want to hang around
here, either way's fine." Josiah replied.

I felt sheepish as I looked out at the window. "It's a beautiful day
outside. Let's go out for breakfast. I'm starving."
