ANGELS WINGS 29

Running out of the house we intended to see a murderous Shane on a rampage
but all we saw was a boy and his dog.

Shane had Amari on her back rubbing her belly talking to her in a baby
voice.

"What going on out here?" Lance asked running out of the house. "Nothing
dear, its just I was startled by Shanes dog when it came out of the
bushes."

"yeah I'm sorry Lance but she didn't mean any harm."

"That's ok Shane nobody was hurt." Lance smiled gathering Rene in his
arms. Shane looked at me with a `what did you expect look in his eyes.'

I finally got the grill started and the cookout going. What would they do
with out me.

**Shane**

Wow Rajin was all ready getting the hang of this. I smiled from across the
yard as I sat under mine and Lance's tree.

Lance... I watch as he was laying stakes on the grill. In his blue jean
shorts and yellow jersey. I don't understand how dreams of how I once
thought we could happy were all gone. That we once were able to look into
each other eyes and say I love you and my heart would jump. That was now
gone.

As I sat there a most unlikely visitor came to see me.

"Hi Shane" her soft voice greeted. "Hi Rene." "I just wanted to say thank
you for helping me." "It's no problem, Amari just need to learn that she is
getting to be a big dog." I tried to explain giving her a small smile.

I must say she was quiet beautiful, and this was basically the first time
I've ever spoken to her.

"You miss him don't you?" What the fuck did she just say. "Huh?" "Lance,
you miss him don't you?" She questioned lightly again.

"How how did you know?" I didn't think I was that obvious. "It's not you,"
She answered as if she was reading my mind. "It was Lance, it the way he
looks at you sometimes and they way he talks bout you. I know that he cares
for you." I laughed a bit. "He has a funny way of showing it." I didn't
mean for it to come out like that but it did. "I know you may not believe
it but he is really sorry for the pain he put you through." "Not to sound
rude but how would you know?" I asked for some strange reason wanting to
know the answer.

"Because one night as he was sleeping he was shifting around. And I saw
tears running down his face. I tried to wake him but all would do is ask
you to forgive him." I couldn't believe it, and frankly I couldn't think of
anything to say.

"Shane if I knew that being with Lance would cause you both this much pain
I would take it all back." I knew right then and there that I liked Renee
and just wanted her happy.

"Do you love Lance?" I asked her and she seemed take back. "Yes I do."
"Then if you want to make me happy all I can ask is that you make him happy
and you yourself to." She pulled me into a hug. I found it strange that
Lance's ex and new love we hugging and she sensed it too and we both
started laughing.

We had spent about an hour there under that tree just chatting away but the
funniest moment for the both of us is when Lance came out looking of Renee
rounding the corner he spotted us sitting next to each chatting away. Me
and Renee thought alike and gave Lance a mischievous look. It was fun to
watch him squirm. I decided to give them some privacy so I headed to the
grill. As I passed Lance I gave him a tight hug and whispered I forgive you
in his ear.

I swear when I looked back to wave bye to Renee I could see tears in
Lance's eyes. I turned to keep walking to the house and looked back one
more time to see the love birds in a tight embrace.

I walked into the kitchen to get a plate and saw Remy doing the same. I
accutly hadn't talked to Remy much since me and Lance broke up, cause I
didn't want to hear `I told you so`.

"Hey Shane."

Urgh here it comes. "Yes Rem." "I just wanted to say that I'm sorry for
what happened between you and Lance." I was waiting for the but and it
didn't come. "I know you know that I hate Lance."

This is what I was waiting for but I couldn't let his words effect me, I
didn't want to hate Lance I wanted peace with him.

"Remy.." "Wait a minute let me finish. I also saw how happy you were when
you two were together, it didn't matter who you were with but how happy it
made you that I cared about, and I promise that someday you will be happy
like that again."

I wanted to smile at the promise, it just seemed so innocent and so far
fetched how could he promise such a thing?

As I was walking away with my food I heard him say `I told you so.' "Fuck
you breeder." I laughed as I walked to the den where the guys were joking
around.

I walked out about a hr later to see Lance and Rene sleeping soundly
against the tree in the sun's last rays of light.

I decided that I would have to totally move on and for me to do that would
be to have some time by myself.

**JC**

It was official joey was a nut, we were eating some potato salad when Chris
made a face and said it was salty. And that's where it all went downhill.

(Flashback)

"Dude this is way to salty!!" Chris exclaimed. "Salty, like my balllz" Joey
laughed.

But Jelani wasn't to be left out as he answered in a little kids high
pitched voice.

"Eww you lied it's not sweet, it tastes like burning." Shane was rolling
over the couch adding "Tastes like syphilis." He laughed out matching
Jelani's voice.

They carried on for about 2o minutes just laughing.

"What the hell did you put in that salad." Rajin asked Justin as they watch
the weirdness unfold.

(Reality Check)

It had been about a hour later and the guys had decided to put in a
movie. Shane voted for The One with Jet Lee and said he would go and get
Lance and Renee.

I wanted to get a soda and walked out behind Shane. I stopped at the fridge
but he kept going outside to where they were sitting. He stopped about a
few feet away and just stood there. I watched him for about ten minutes and
noticed he wasn't talking to Lance or Renee.

I walked up behind him and gently put my hand on his shoulder.

"Why has fate cheated me so?" He asked softly as he looked upon Lance's
face. My heart went out to him, he was so kind and sweet, always caring
about others around him. I just had to do something.

**Shane**

Jc had come out to see if I was ok, and I honestly don't know if am. I just
feel so torn between how I feel right now.

I turned to face Jc and noticed he had a weird look in his eyes. And if my
world couldn't get anymore screwed, it got sucked into a black hole when he
kiss me... and I liked it.



We both pulled away quickly. "I'm sorry." He apologized. "I don't know what
came over me." He smiled blushing.

"It's ok your one hell of a kisser." I laughed. "But as much as I like you
I don't think I'm ready for anything so let just keep this to our selves."I
smiled trying to reassure him. I honest doubt that Jc is gay, either he was
experimenting or just using his big heart, but I think we will just leave
it at one of those weird moment never to be repeated.

After our sci-fi encouter we woke up Lance and Renee and headed back into
the house I was glad that Jc wasn't acting all weird around me. We watch
the movie which by the way was kick ass.

And then we all head off to do our own thing.

I knew that this would be the best time to put my plan into play. I went up
to my room and began to pack.

**JC**

Tonight was just to weird for me. I mean not good or bad weird just
weird. I don't know what came over me when I kissed Shane but something
just said do it. I mean he was standing there looking so innocent and
heartbroken, and I just wanted him to feel better.

But it turned out to be more than just a little `feel better peck'. It
turned to a full blown kiss and I guess I started to like it.

I wanted to go and talk to Shane to make sure that we were ok.

I walked up to his room and he was on the phone. "Yeah J, can you meet me
at the airport, I'll be in the V.I.P lounge. ...Ok Later J and Thanks." Was
he leaving because of me. No I doubt that Shane if anyone would let
something like that mess with him.

Shane had hung up the phone so I thought it would be good as good of time
as any to make myself known.

I knocked on the door and a told me to come in not bothering to turn around
from his bags.

"What up Shane?" "Huh, oh hi JC, nothing much." "Wow that's a lot of
nothing." I tried to laugh to open the subject of him leaving.

"Oh that well I have to take care of some things so I have to go for a
while." "Umm do you mind if I ask what your going to be doing?" "Nothing
major just little things. He answered as he closed his suitcase.

I really didn't buy any of this but what could I really say. "Well where
are you going?" "I'm sorry JC but the cabs here, my brothers knows all
about it, I just wouldn't ask them, cause it may seem a bit personal."

Ok now pieces arent fitting together. What's so personal to them that only
Shane would be going to. "I promise that I'll be back soon ok."

Shane gave me a quick hug and headed downstairs to the cab. I grabbed
another 2 bags off of his bed. In all that was 5 lg suit cases. I had a
feeling that he wasn't coming back soon.

I woke up the next morning and everything was normal. Everyone was just
chatting away and no one mentioned Shane so I assumed all was all right.

The went on uneventful and I worked in my music room. That day turned into
another and that into a week. And still no word from or about
Shane. Finally one Saturday morning during breakfast Chris came by.

Almost everyone was at the table with the exception of Jelani who was
walking up the stairs

"Hey Chris you and Shane finally stopping by for breakfasts." Rajin asked
from the chair he and Justin was sharing by the tv.

"Um no acutely I was wondering if Shane was here? I hadn't heard from in a
week." You could here the clinging of two spoons and thundering down the
stairs.

"What do you mean a week, Shane had said that he was going away with you
for a while the night of the cook out." "No the night of the cook-out was
the last time I saw him
