and MJ (Shape of My Heart) for giving me all the encouragement that I could
ever need. And finally, thanks to Neto and Priscilla for kicking me in the
ass and getting me to type faster! :)

Disclaimer:

Yes! I DO own them! I use them around the house for decoration, menial
chores and manual labor (except for Lance who is chained to Gabriella's bed,
Chris who is filling in for Kat's foot stool, and Kevin who is Neto's house
boy)! If you want to know their actual sexualities...GET OVER IT! It's
none of our damn business!

Do not read this if:

1) You are too young to be doing so.
2) It is illegal to read this type of material in your area.
3) You are offended by homosexual material and/or situations.

If none of the above applies to you, continue reading and enjoy the show!

D-Evolution

Chapter 16: Psycho Babble

AJ continued rocking his sobbing lover for several minutes. Whispering
soothing words into the air, he was slowly able to help Chris regain his
composure. Though the smaller man was no longer crying, he still had a firm
grip on his partner.

"Please don't leave me, Alex," he pled softly into AJ's ear.

Looking down at his love in confusion, he asked, "Why would I leave you,
Chris? You've just gone through something terrible and I'm not going to
leave you to get through it alone."

"Not like this was the first time," he shrugged sadly.

Shocked and infuriated, Alex managed to ask, "How long has this been going
on, Chris? When did she start to treat you like this?"

"It started not too long after we got together. I was still trying to deny
my attraction to other men, but still checking them out when no one would
notice. Well...almost no one. Dani was able to put two and two together
and confronted me about it. After awhile, she wore me down. I admitted it,
thinking that she'd just listen to me and then pack up and leave. She
didn't, though."

The anguish in his lover's voice tore at AJ's heart and enraged him at the
same time. His body started shaking as the anger coursed through him. As
his ire was reaching it's boiling point, he began to hear faint whimpers and
sniffles. Looking down, he was horrified to see Chris mumbling to himself
and trying to burrow into his chest.

"I've been bad...bad,bad,bad. You're gonna leave me now, gonna leave me all
alone. Please don't...safe here. Wanna feel safe. Please let me feel
safe. Nowhere else to go..love you...home now. Don't wanna be empty...it
hurts...please make it stop hurting...make it stop!" the smaller man babbled
into his shirt.

Grabbing Chris in a fierce hug, AJ began rocking him back and forth and
trying to sooth his lover's rant. Whatever else would happen, AJ vowed to
himself that he was going to make the bitch pay.

Outside in the hall...

Everyone was horrified by what they'd just witnessed. One of the people
whom they all considered a friend had just betrayed everything. No one knew
how to act. It actually took all of us and the bodyguards to keep Joey from
going down the hall and beating Dani to a pulp, woman or not. With tears
streaming down his face, he roared in impotent rage as we all kept him
pinned to the wall.

Lance tried to reason with him, "Look Joe, we're all as pissed off as you
are right now, but the last thing Chris needs is this being dragged out into
the public eye because you're being sued for assault. You know our NDA's
are null and void if physical violence is involved. Please, Joe. Just let
it go for now and let's try to figure out how to get Chris better."

At the last part, Joey finally allowed his muscles to go slack and crumpled
into Lances arms. His sobbing was hard for everyone to see. Joey was
always the strong one, the guy who could always make the situation seem so
trivial just with a smile. To see him like this turned the world on its ear
and warped everything. I thought that I'd try to slip into the situation
now.

"Look guys. Standing out here worrying isn't going to make anything
better," I explained to them all, "Why don't you guys go talk to your
managers about allowing that psychiatrist on tour and I'll call a doctor I
know and see if she's available to do something like this."

They all perked up at the suggestion and immediately agreed, relieved to
have a task to occupy their minds. As they all walked away to find their
managers, Howie and I went to Nick's dressing room to get Richie and make
the call.

Seeing my son asleep on the couch, I quietly walked over and sat down beside
him. Running my fingers gently through his hair, I quickly dialed
information and got the number of a family friend. Hanging up with the
helpful operator, I dialed the new number and waited as it rang.

"Dr. Valentine's office. How can I help you?" asked the soft familiar voice
on the line.

"Hey Cindy, this is Doug McCarver. I really need to talk to Karen. Is she
available?"

Hearing the worry in my voice, her voice took on a troubled tone, "Is Angela
alright? She hasn't had a relapse has she?"

"No, Cindy. Angela's doing great. It's something else and it's important
that I talk to Karen immediately."

"Okay. She finished with her last patient a few hours ago. We're just
trying to get all of the month's paperwork straightened out tonight. Let me
transfer you over."

"Thanks Cindy. It was nice to hear you're voice again."

"You too hon. I'm transferring you now."

The line went dead as she put me on hold and then an exhausted voice sounded
in my ear.

This is Karen, how can I help you?"

"Hey Karen, this is Doug. I have a problem..."

I outlined what had happened and she was sickened to hear the details.
Years in her profession had steeled her to the realities of life, but this
wasn't easy for her to take. Especially when I told her that the person was
famous and unable to press charges for fear of a scandal. As the talk
progressed, Howie started to massage my shoulders and back. I groaned
softly as some of the night's tension drained out of my body. As I drew the
conversation to a close, Karen agreed to join the tour right away and
reschedule her patients with other doctors in her firm.

"Thank you so much, Karen. He's really going to need your help."

"Don't worry hon. I'm more than happy to help in anyway I can. Just talk to
the managers and give me a call back tonight if you can with their decision.
I can be there as soon as tomorrow."

As relief flooded through my body, I thanked her again and ended the call.
Turning to Howie, I drew him into my arms and hugged him for all that I was
worth. Looking down on Richie, I was overcome with a sense of sorrow. He'd
worked so hard to get AJ and Chris together that it might just destroy him
if this tore the two apart. He'd had to many people in his life separate
and he didn't need anymore this early in his life.

Giving my son a gentle kiss on his head, I got up and pulled Howie out into
the hall. Walking quickly, we found Lonnie again and he directed us to
where the guys were. Following his directions, we reached our destination
in a few minutes.

"Hey guys," JC greeted us, "Management is allowing the doc onboard and
they're going to pay the fees. But, since this person's going to have to
travel with us for a while, me and the other guys are going to all pitch in
and double the pay. So, is your friend going to be able to do this?"

With a smile on my face I answered, "Yeah. Karen said she'd be more than
happy to do this. She knows that along with doctor/patient confidentiality
she's gonna have to sign the NDA's and she says that that's fine. I haven't
told her who it is yet, just that he's famous. As soon as I call her back,
she'll be on board and here tomorrow."

All of the guys fell over themselves with words of thanks and orders to call
the doctor back now. Smiling to myself, I pulled out my phone and dialed.

"Karen? This is Doug again. We're good to go..."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey guys! It's good to finally be back. I'm sorry it took so long, but
I've had my reasons. Hopefully, now that I've got a feel for the storyline
again, I'm going to be able to update much more frequently. :)
