As usual, I do not know *NSYNC, I don't know if they're gay, I have no
affiliation with any people who work for them and all of this is purely a
fantasy in my own head.

- PREVIOUSLY ON DANNY AND LANCE -

"Regardless," I cut him off, "I still care about you. I don't care anymore
that you slept with someone while we were together. I haven't cared for a
long time, I just know that ever since you left there has been something
missing in my life, something I didn't even know I missed before you came
into my life. I care about the way we made each other feel. Maybe since
both of us live in the same place now it would be different. Maybe..."

"Maybe it would work," Lance finished for me.

"Yeah. Yeah maybe it would work. But we'd have to start over, from the
beginning. I think we could both use a fresh start."

He smiled heartily. "Yeah. I'm ok with that."

CHAPTER NINE

Lance and I went back down to the party in much better spirits. We chatted
with JC, Chris, and Joey who were very happy to see that the two of us were
talking. Eventually it was time to go home and I had to pry Anna off of
Justin, who was still dancing with her. On the way home we swapped
stories, not sure who had the more exciting news:

"Oh god I almost had an orgasm while I was dancing with him! I think he
may want to see me again!"

"Lance and I worked out or problems and may be getting back together after
all this time."

"WHAT!? Oh honey that's wonderful!" she exclaimed.

"Yeah," I said with a silly grin on my face, "it kind of is. We said we
were going to start over from the beginning, a sort of new relationship. I
really do hope that it works out this time."

"It will babe, I know it. You two are in the same place now, and you can
see each other more than once every few weeks," she pointed out. "Plus you
two can have sex way more often, which is really the most important part!"

I laughed. "Ok enough about me, what about you? You think Justin might be
interested?"

"Oh god, OH GOD! I don't know! Justin Timberlake?! And ME?! It's like my
dream come true! Do you think a celebrity like him could ever be interested
in someone like me?" She paused for a moment, realizing who she was
talking to, and continued with "ok maybe you're not the best person to
ask!"

The next morning my cell phone rang.

"Hello?" "Hey!"

"Hey! Good morning Lance!"

"How'd you sleep?"

"Very well, thanks. How about you?"

"Fantastic. What are you doing tonight?"

"Oh, um... I don't have any plans, why?"

"Well I was wondering if I could take you out to dinner. You know, a first
date kind of thing."

"Aw you beat me to it! I was going to call you and ask you out to dinner
later!"

"Too late! I invited, which means I get to pick you up!" he said. I could
just imagine the smirk on his face.

"Alright, alright, but I get to pick the time! Seven o'clock good for you?"

"Sounds perfect. I'll see you then! Oh and dress nice, we're going
somewhere special."

We ended the call and all of a sudden my plan for the day had changed. Now
I needed to find something cute to wear! I called Anna and within 45
minutes we were both showered and down on Melrose to shop. We picked up a
nice pair of black tuxedo-style pants that made my ass look great and a
slim burgundy button-down. We shopped around a little while longer and
then went back to my place. The two of us sat around and speculated what
Lance was planning for the evening.

"I bet he does something super romantic to make up for what happened
between you guys," said Anna.

"You think? I am pretty sure it will just be dinner."

"Are you kidding me? If a guy cheats on you, he's going to have to do
something big to make you want him and want to trust him again, even if it
has been two years!"

She had a point. After a while we said our goodbyes and I got ready for my
date. At 7pm exactly (he was rarely late) my doorbell rang and standing on
the other side was Lance looking hotter than I'd ever seen him before.

"...wow, um Hi Lance!" I muttered.

"Hi yourself. You look fantastic!" he exclaimed, with the same combination
of amazement and lust that I had on my face. "Wow...I almost don't want to
go out to dinner anymore."

"Well," I said coyly, "you're going to have to, because I don't sleep with
men on the first date!" He chuckled and nodded his approval. "So where
are we going?"

"That is a surprise. Come on!" He reached out, grabbed my hand and
practically pulled me out the door. We got in his car and started driving.
We were silent for a while, before he started talking.

"So thanks for going out with me, I'm very excited about our `first date.'"

"Me too. Are you ever going to tell me where we're going?"

"Well, I guess you'll find out sooner or later. We're heading to a new
restaurant that Justin is opening. They're getting close to opening
officially. It's pretty good, and I was able to get us in."

"I thought you said it's not open yet."

"I said not `officially' open. I happen to know the owner!" He joked.
Lance seemed very pleased with himself, so I refrained from making a joke
back. We pulled up to the Hyatt and walked inside to a big door with no
markings. He opened the door for me and I walked into an incredible new
venue.

"Wow," was all I could say while looking at the decor.

"Just wait," said Lance, and I followed him out to the patio where my mouth
dropped open. Sitting in the middle of a gorgeous patio was one table with
two chairs. Candles were lit all over the other tables and the waterfall
and walls were illuminated by Christmas lights, it was breathtaking.

"Lance, I--" I stuttered, "this is amazing!"

"You like?"

"Very much," I said and turned to him, "but this is cheating. This is so
not a first date surprise!"

He suddenly looked worried, thinking I was mad. "Well I wanted it to be
special, and I couldn't just take you anywhere since we've technically been
on a few dates before and I wanted a place for just us and Justin said it
would be cool if Mmhmhmmhmmhhmmm-" I cut him off by putting my finger on
his mouth. I stepped closer to him, maybe a bit too close, and looked in
his eyes.

"It's perfect." I pulled him into a hug, which he gleefully returned.
Dinner was amazing, Justin was sure to make a killing with this food. The
staff was incredibly nice, the food delicious, and the wine free-flowing.
We talked about anything and everything, sharing stories from the past few
years that we had missed in each other's lives and reminiscing about a few
of the things we used to do when we were together. The way we got along,
it was like those two years never happened.

After dinner he took me up to the Griffith Observatory to hang out and look
over the city. It was a gorgeous warm summer night, and I just sat there
basking in the glow of Los Angeles and of the man who I was with. It was
wonderful. As we sat there, my hand found his and rested on top of it.
Our fingers intertwined and we sat for another half hour not saying
anything but just enjoying the feel of our skin touching once again.

Finally it was time to go and Lance drove me back to my apartment. He
walked me to the door, and the time I was dreading was finally here.

"Well, I guess it's time to say good night," I said.

"Yeah, I guess so," he replied. We stared into each other's eyes for a
moment before we both leaned in and felt our lips touch. I swear the
feeling was so electric we could have lit up New York City. We both stayed
with our lips pressed together for about ten seconds before we pulled away.
I wanted nothing more to jump him right there, pull him into my apartment
and ravage his hard boy all night long. Instead we just stared at each
other for a few seconds, lust in both our eyes, before I finally muttered
something out.

"Well uh...Thank you for an amazing night."

"You're welcome. I'll call you tomorrow?"

"Yeah, yeah please do," I said not realizing how husky my voice had become.

"Ok. Sleep well Danny."

"Thanks, drive safe, Lance."

He smiled and turned around and started walking to his car. I turned
towards my door and leaned my head against it for a few seconds, trying to
process what was going on in my head. One thing was for sure, I needed
some relief.
