*******************************************************************************

He could hear the fans screaming. Waves and waves of teenage girls
screaming their lungs out. All waiting and watching, dying to see the
amazing guys known as 'N Sync. The lights dimmed and the music picked
up. Jason glanced up to see the boys being lowered from the ceiling. An
amazing start for a show. He just sat back and watched his new friends do
their jobs, and one hell of a job they did too.

The way they performed was just amazing. Jason found it intriguing that
five guys could get hundreds of thousands of people screaming and drooling,
just by walking onto stage. 'God, I wish I had that kind of power.' It must
be the fame. All these poeple wanting what they can't have, or those that
think they can, but never will.

'Although, fame does have it's draw backs.' Jason thought as he finished
off his first soda. By this time, the group had already sung their way
through several songs, all of them better than the one before. 'Everybody
always watching you every move. Critiquing everything you do. People
telling you what to do, what to wear, how to live basically.' When he
thought about what exactly all this fame entailed, he realised that it
wasn't all it was cracked up to be. He almost began to feel sorry for them,
but the pros help to even out the cons.

'STOP THINKING!' he told himself. God, he thought to much about
everything. Even now, when he was supposed to be enjoying this concert, in
a box that had been especially setup for him by his friend, he was still
thinking. 'Just sit back and enjoy the show, dummy.' he complained to
himself. He closed his eyes and cleared out all of his thoughts. Slowly,
the music began to flow into his ears. Soon, he was taken over by the music
and completely forgot about the rest of the world.

Every once in a while, JC would glance over at his friend, that is when the
dance routine would permit a free moment. The smile on Jason's face assured
JC that he was having a good time. He couldn't wait to get this concert
over with. Only one more show after that. Tommorow it was off to Orlando
for one last show before their break.

JC rocked and swayed with the music as he moved across the stage. He had
performed these dances so many times, they were almost like second nature
to him now. He could dance in his sleep if he needed to, and almost had on
several occasions. As the song ended, he moved onto his mark, and struck
his pose, sending all of the girls in the crowd into a screaming
frenzy. 'Good.' JC thought to himself, only one more song to go. The grande
finale.

All the lights went out and the guys took their places. The ever so
familiar violin music began flowing from the sound system and all present
knew the song that was coming. "Hey, hey." Justin sang into his
microphone. They all spun around, and in unison, "Bye, Bye, Bye."

Jason smiled as he recalled the first time he had ever heard that
song. That crazy night he had been driving around with no particular
destination. The song that helped him get rid of Sarah once and for all. It
was amazing how one event had changed his life. Had he not found Sarah,
well, screwing around, then he wouldn't be here now. He wouldn't have even
been introduced to such great music. A door had certainly closed in his
life when that happened, but now he didn't really care. There were windows
opening up all over the place.

They continued to dance and sing until they reached the end of the song. As
the music wound down, the group thanked their audience with the amusing yet
corny line, "Bye, Bye, Bye, Atlanta. You were great." The group exited the
stage and the lights came up. The group walked right past Jason's "box" as
they walked back towards the dressing rooms. JC made a 'come on' guesture
as he walked past and Jason rose to his feet to follow.

The group, with Jason tailing closely behind, made their way to the
dressing rooms. Once inside they sat down for a chance to cool down and
relax. This time, Jason and JC took the open chairs and everyone else piled
onto the sofas.

"You guys put on one hell of a show. You are definitely in the right
business." Jason said as he sat down. "Like you really need my
appluase. You have thousands of people out there still screaming for you."

"Well, it's always nice to get compliments from the little people." JC
joked.

"Oh, I didn't think I was that insignificant. I just won't even bother
going to any more of your shows then." Jason shot back, feigning insult.

JC, not realizing Jason was only kidding back, quickly tried to cover up
what he had said. "No, I didn't mean it like that, man. I was only
kidding. I'm sorry." he pleaded.

"JC, relax man, I was just kidding around. Nothing you say can insult me."
Jason assured.

"Well, that's good to know. So we can poke fun at you too? Just like
family, huh?" Joey laughed.

"You bet. Whatever makes you happy." Jason returned.

"I hate to interupt, but we had best start cleaning up. The backstage
guests are due to arrive in a few." Chris informed.

"Yeah, you're right. When are they going to let them back?" JC asked Chris,
who seemed to have all of the information anyway.

"In about thirty minutes. So we had better hurry." Chris replied, hopping
up off of the couch. He and Joey headed off to the seperate showers and
the entire pre-show routine began over again. Jason made small talk with
the guys as they took turns in the wash rooms.

There was plenty to say and plenty to listen to and soon the thirty minutes
had past and they were all clean and in fresh clothes.

"So should I disappear for a little while?" Jason asked as he turned to JC.

"No, don't be silly. We have friends with us all of the time after the
shows." he responded.

"Alright. That's cool man. I just didn't want..."

KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK

The knocks interupted Jason in mid-sentence. Justin got up and walked
toward the door. He made a "shh" motion with his finger over his lips. He
reached ahold of the door handle and pulled it wide open.

On the other side, nearly drooling with anticipation, stood three teen-aged
girls, an thirtyish woman, and Chad, the large security guard. As the door
swung open to reveal Justin standing on the other side with his trademark
grin, The girls let out a scream that rivaled the entire concert put
together. Justin just stood there and laughed. He was pretty used to it by
now.

"Girls, girls! Calm down!" shouted the older woman. "I'm going to take you
home right now if you don't. Do you understand me?"

"Yes ma'am." respectfully replied one of the girls as quietness once again
returned to the room. It was clear that the older woman was the mother of
at least one of the three, and she held quite some power over them, to stop
ravaging teeny-boppers in the midst of Justin Timberlake.

"Would you like to come in?" Justin asked, never losing the grin from his
face. The girls excitedly nodded their heads and stepped into the room. The
mother followed closely behind her girls to get them if they got out of
line.

Justin introduced the girls to the Joey, JC, Lance, and Chris. They needed
no introduction for them. Their faces adorned the walls and ceilings and
anywhere else they could put the group's pictures. But Jason was a new
face. They gave him a puzzled look as Justin turned to him.

"This..." Justin began. Jason was silently wondering how this would
continue. 'This what?' he thought to himself. "... is one of our best
friends, Jason."

'Whew.' was the one thought that flew through Jason's mind as a smile crept
onto his face. The three girls gave him little acknowledgement before
returning their crazed eyes to focus on the boys of 'N Sync.

Soon they were taking turns asking all of those rediculous and irrelevant
questions that are always asked. What's your favorite color? How about
food? What kind of pets do you have? What do you look for in a girl? Are
you seeing anyone now? Will you go out with me? All of those crazy kinds of
questions.

This went on for about twenty minutes before the mother stepped in and put
a stop to it. She said they had been there long enough and that it was time
for them to go. Justin, JC, Joey, Lance, and Chris each signed the pictures
and CDs the girls had brought before they were swept out the door by the
older woman. Before closing the door on her way out, she graciously thanked
them all for their kindness and patience.

The door clicked and they all slumped back into their seats. No one spoke
for several moments. Jason finally spoke up. "Is it always like this?"

"Most of the time. We were lucky they were on leashes. We have had a few
that were almost psychotic. Like prowling lions, ready to pounce." Lance
answered as he lifted his head up and opened his eyes.

"Yeah, but it's worth it. I mean, they appreciate it so much." Joey said as
he directed his glance toward Jason. "It's pretty wierd, and I don't want
to sound egotistical here, but we have probably just made those girls
year."

"Whoa, big words!" Justin teased. "Coming from Mr. Ego himself."

The joking and playing around continued for a little while longer until the
one of the crew came in to let them know that the building was clear and
they were free to go.

"So what's in store for you guys now?" Jason asked.

"Well..." Joey reponded quickly with a glint in his eyes. "It is Saturday
night."

"Yeah, and your point?" Jason knew exactly what his point was. He was just
teasing him a little. Hey, everyone else did.

"Party! There has got to be some happening hot spots around here
somewhere." Joey blurted out.

"I think I have the perfect place for you guys. Come on." Jason rose to his
feet and headed out the door. With a little effort he found his way back to
the backstage entrance with the rest of 'N Sync in tow. They made their way
out into the parking lot, lit now only by the bright sparkling stars, which
were somewhat occluded by the large lights of the amphitheather.

Justin, Lance, Chris, and Joey headed toward the awaiting black stretch
limo. Jason whistled loudly causing them to stop in their tracks. "You guys
are just begging to be recognized in that thing."

"Well, what other option do we have?" Chris asked. JC, in a silent
response, shot a glance at Jason's parked convertible.

"You're kidding right. You expect us all to fit?" Justin remarked.

"Aw, come on Curly, it'll be fun." JC returned, almost pleading.

"Hey, if it get's JC to come out and party with us for a change, lets go
for it." Joey, voicing his opinion trotted over to the car and hopped into
the front passenger seat. "Shotgun."

Following Joey's lead, they all piled into the car. Jason stood back and
watched as four guys tried to pile into a backseat made for two. It was
quite amusing. After the "Ouch"'s and the "Your sitting on my hand"'s and
"Get off!"'s, Jason finally climbed into the driver's seat. He looked into
the back seat and made one intentional comment. "Comfortable?" The response
was four dirty looks from the back. The mean faces soon turned into
laughter as they realized how funny they looked.

So they were off. Riding high under a stary sky. Top down and the radio up
they cruised down the interstate. After a short drive they arrived at The
Cap Stand, one of the hottest night spots in Atlanta. There were people
lined up for miles to get in the door. Jason turned into a parking complex
across the street and parked the car.

JC, Justin, Lance, and Chris pryed themselves from the backseat and joined
Jason and Joey who were already out of the car and waiting. The six of the
made their way out of the parking garage and down to the street.

"My God. There is no way we'll ever get in there. That line is like a mile
long." JC said, as they stood across the street looking at the club.

"We'll get in. Trust me. Now come on." Jason replied, hurrying across the
street. As he walked across the street, he reached into his pocket and
removed a single green bill.

"Hey Scott man. How's it goin'?" Jason called out as he approached the
front door to the club. He palmed the bill and extended his hand to the
door man.

"Jason, bro. It's been rockin'. Haven't seen you around here in a while."
Scott replied as he grasped Jason's hand and gave him a pat on the back,
removing the money from his clenched fist.

"Yeah, I know. Some friends of mine came in town today and I wanted to take
them to the hottest spot in Atlanta." Jason informed, stepping back and
guesturing to the guys, who were trying their best to look as inconspicuous
as possible. Oddly enough, they weren't recognized.

"Well, you came to the right place. Go on in, and have a great time." Scott
said, reaching for the door and pulling it open to let the six of them in.
