Ok, Hello Everybody! I'm Frank! This is my very, very first attempt at a
story of any kind! I've been a long time reader of Nifty (mostly the boy
band's section) and now I'm finally going through with writing a (hopefully
decent!) story of my very own! Aren't u proud? =) So please, go easy on me!

Anywho, I never get e-mail, and I would love to hear from anyone that is
willing to give my story a shot. So please, e-mail me at
niftyfrank@email.com with any comments, concerns, criticisms, threats,
flames, WHATEVER...just E-MAIL ME!!!! Just be sure to include the title of
the story in the subject...I tend to delete what I think is spam...sorry.

Oh, and sorry for any spelling/grammar mistakes...I was really anxious to
post this, so I didn't proofread as well as I should have...can you blame
me?

Now, without further ado LET THE STORY BEGIN!

Part I: Wake up call...

"...Don't really wanna make it tough, I just wanna tell you that I had
enough! Might sound crazy but it ain't no lie, baby BYE, BYE, BYE!" The
radio blared, filling Brent's room with the sounds of the latest single
from N'SYNC.

"Oh man, I've GOT to find a new station for my alarm setting!" he groaned
as he sluggishly moved a half-able arm to turn off the alarm clock.

"That was N'SYNC with their latest, "Bye, Bye, Bye from their new album No
Strings Attached," The DJ began, "and now it's time for our early bird
trivia question of the day!"

Brent stopped in his attempts to silence the alarm, he always loved to hear
the teenyboppers make fools of themselves with their wrong answers to these
ridiculous questions--so early in the morning too!

"Alright kiddies, here's the pop question for the morning! We're looking
for the 10th caller who can tell us which N'Syncer was given the nick name
Poofu based on the fact that he used to dress up as a dog of the same name
when he worked in his uncle's photo shop?"

"What kinda of loser keeps up with stuff like that?!?!" Brent chuckled to
himself, waiting for some prepubescent teeny to get on the air, and scream
out the answer.

"Ok, Caller number 10, you're live on the air! Can you tell us which N'SYNC
member has a shaggy disposition, and a furry costume fetish?" Brent
couldn't help but laugh at the DJ's antics...

"James Lance Bass" The caller replied. Brent was all too shocked to hear
the deep voice of his good friend Evan Dele•n highlighted with a new,
and slightly odd (for him), tinge of cheerfulness.

"What the..." he began when he was cut off by the extremely loud voice of
the DJ...he turned down the volume a little.

"Congratulations Evan! You've just conquered this mornings pop question!"

"Oh Joy!" Brent mocked with more than a hint of sarcasm.

"Thanks!" Was all that Evan said, but it was obvious to Brent (after
knowing Evan as long as he did...) that he was truly excited.

"Well, you don't exactly sound overjoyed Evan, but I think I have something
that might put a little skip in your step bright and early this Monday
morning! Only because a certain boy band pop sensation is going to be in
town this weekend, are we awarding you with--not one--but TWO tickets and
backstage passes to go see America's number one teen group N'SYNC!!!!"

There was a slight pause, followed by a deafening scream by Evan. At that
point Brent knew he was at his house doing his patented happy dance. Brent
laughed to himself once again at the mere thought of Evan dancing around
his room, and screaming.

"I knew that would make your morning Evan! So tell me, what's the station
that's sending you to see N'SYNC? In concert"

"R.O.C.K. 93.5 BABY!!!!" Evan roared. Brent let out another barely audible
laugh, and then waited. After about a minute and a half, he began counting
down.

"5, 4, 3, 2..."

Riinngggggg!

"Hey Evan, what's up?" Brent asked nonchalantly as he picked up the phone.

Evan muttered something about the 'damned caller ID', and then began to
yell again. "Aaahhhhhhh! Guess what Brent?!"

"What?" Brent asked coyly, trying to retain his laughter. "No wait, let me
guess. You just won tickets to go see Poofu in concert?!?!?!?"

"Wha...how did you...." Evan stumbled at his friend's apparently newfound
clairvoyant abilities.

"I heard you on the air dumbass!" Brent remarked while bursting into
hysterics.

"Oh...OHHHH!" Evan laughed a little at his own inability to cite the
obvious. "Well," he let out after a chuckle.

"Well what?"

"Well...you wanna come with?" Evan asked .quite condescendingly. He always
had an air of arrogance about him, but I guess being a contest winner gave
his ego a--greatly unneeded--boost!

Brent considered the offer for a moment before he replied, "Now why the
hell would I wanna go see a dog and his four trainers perform...let alone
go backstage to meet them afterwards!"

"Oh Please Brent! This is me you're talking to. I know that you secretly
like N'SYNC, I found their CD in your "secret" drawer a few weeks back when
I was at your house and you were in the shower!"

"You what? You went in my drawer, how did you find the key? That's not cool
Evan!" Brent tried to concentrate on being angry while tossing the idea of
meeting one of his, secretly, favorite bands around in his head.

"The lock is broken!" Evan stated matter-of-factly.

Sure enough, Brent reached over to his "secret" drawer, and with a good
tug, it slid open without any further coaxing. "Oh..." he sighed. Now it
was he that was wondering how he could miss something so blatantly
obvious. He'd considered that drawer his safe place for years, and now he
comes to find that anyone with a less-than-persistent tug could have access
to his "prized" possessions.

"Don't worry Brent, You know I'd never rifle through your things. I just
happened to open the drawer, and see the CD.... Granted I laughed a bit
when I saw it--considering how you feign hate for the group--but that was
the extent of it. I closed the drawer right afterwards, and never opened it
again."

"Gee, that's comforting." Sarcasm seemed to be Brent's theme for the
morning. "He sets limits on how much he can violate my privacy..."

"OK, OK, I'm sorry! How's about I make it up to you by taking you to see 5
HOTT young guys in concert this weekend?" Evan asked apologetically.

"You were gona take me anyway!"

"I know, but...."

Brent laughed, "Bye Evan." And hung up the phone. He laughed a small laugh
once again before he realized that he had to get ready for school! "Oh
shit!" he said in a hushed yell.

---------------------------- Part II: Coasting Along

All throughout school that day, Brent tried to get used to the idea that he
was going to be seeing one of his favorite bands in concert, and then
meeting them backstage. He was, to say the least, overjoyed. It showed
too. Whereas most people were expecting the normal, cynical, and overly
sarcastic Brent...they found a happily dispositioned one in his place.

He caught up with Evan during lunch, and they discussed the upcoming events
of the weekend.

"So, you're going right?" Evan questioned hopefully. He and Brent had been
friends for the longest time. They had come out to each other last year,
each relieved that the other was gay too. They attempted a romantic
relationship, but they just didn't have those types of feeling for one
another--they had been friends too long.

"I have to think about it some more." he lied.

"What's there to think about?"

"No, I'm kidding. I'll go! I might as well now that my dirty little secret
is out."

"Everyone loves N'SYNC! It was simply a matter of time before you joined
the ranks of the rest of the human race..." They both laughed.

"Yeah, whatever!"

"Well," Evan began, "it'll do you some good to go out! You haven't been
anywhere since Andr..." He trailed off. Brent looked up at his friend with
saddened eyes, his joy of the morning jaded in an instant. "I'm sorry
Brent, I didn't mean to..."

"It's ok." Brent cut him off dryly. His mind was being flooded with the
memories of he and Andrew's relationship gone bad. The memories of Andrew
proclaiming his feeling for him, of giving himself to Andrew, of Andrew
dumping..."

"BRENT!" Evan said in a harsh whisper "snap out of it!"

"Yeah, what?" "You don't need to be thinking about him. He was an asshole!
I'm sorry that I even brought it up. I know how much...."

"BRENT!" They both snapped their heads towards the voice, only to see Sarah
walking towards them, and calling out Brent's name.

"SARAH!" He jokingly yelled back...She quickened her pace--her shoulder
length blonde hair bouncing as she walked--and was soon at the table. She
sat down beside Brent, and smacked him on the back of the head.

"Oww! What was that for?!?!" He complained.

"For not calling me back last night!" She said drably. Evan proceeded to
mimic the sound of a whip being cracked, only to receive and spine-tingling
death stare from Brent.

"I was busy." Brent lied. He had simply fallen asleep and forgotten all
about it.

"Um hmm..." was Sarah's reply, she was not buying it.

"I'm sorry?" He offered.

"You're forgiven." She smiled, she loved toying with Brent...he was a
sucker for emotions. He became a little kid when he thought that he was the
cause of someone's feelings being hurt. He grumbled something about how she
'shouldn't do that to him..." and then his lips curled in an evil smile
when he thought of how to get her back. He put his mini-plan into action.

"Soooooooo, what are you doing this weekend Sarah?"

"Well...since I, unlike a certain LOSER who shall remain nameless, have a
life, I'm going to Matt Burnhart's party. What about you? As if I even
need to ask..."

"Oh, nothing." Brent lied, continuing in his mini-plan. "Just hanging
around, doing some shopping, then Evan and I are going to the N'SYNC
concert at the Coliseum." There was a short pause, and then Sarah spoke.

"Riiight," She said with a smirk, "and just how do you plan on getting
tickets so late? And how do you plan on paying for them? With your
not-so-good looks?" She made a very unladylike little grunt at her
sarcasm. Just as Brent had hoped, Evan began fumbling through his backpack
and then pulled out a cassette tape. He knew Evan all to well. .

With a small glint in his eye, Evan passed the tape to Brent who, in turn,
passed it to Sarah with a simple..."Get a load a' this!" Sarah proceeded
to pull out the Walkman that she carried with her to use during her first
period study hall, and popped in the tape. Hey eyes widened as she
listened to the tape of the radio show this morning. She slowly pulled out
the tape and handed it back to Evan. She calmly put her Walkman up, and
then turned to Brent. Brent prepared himself for whatever witty comeback
Sarah had prepared for him, he was all too shocked, however, when his
friend let a high pitch scream escape from her lips. It pierced the air
like an arrow...drawing the eyes of the entire cafeteria. She then
continued to yell "YOU'RE GOING TO MEET N'SYNC, IN PERSON?!?!?!"

Brent gave a small nod while trying to withhold his composure. He
failed...he was soon laughing uncontrollably, and thrashing his arms about
wildly. They were once again the focus of the cafeteria, but only for a
moment. Soon Brent came down from his comedic high--he laughed way more
than necessary, but it was funny to him. He focused his attention on Sarah,
or rather...Sarah's reaction. Her eyes were glossy--she was going to cry.

Brent leaned forward, and took Sarah into his embrace. He whispered, "It's
ok. I'm sorry...I didn't mean to upset you..." On his shoulder he felt
Sarah laughing. He pulled away from her, and saw a broad smile across her
face.

"Gotcha' again! You're so gullible!" She snickered. Brent let out a small
giggle, and then he looked at Sarah once again. "That's so cool!" she
said. "I love N'SYNC! I can't believe you're actually gona meet them! Get
me an autograph k?"

Brent breathed a sigh of relief, he'd have to stop letting people do that
to him! "Sure thing." He replied.

"If you forget, I'll have your head!"

"Sounds more like a reward than a punishment!" Evan chimed in from across
the table. He never could resist throwing in his two cents!

"Pervert!" The other two said simultaneously.

The rest of the day, Brent continued on in his happy-go-lucky
matter--drawing a little more attention that he was accustomed to, but he
didn't seem to mind. He finished out his other four classes without any
major happenings, and headed home for the afternoon. Friday was going to be
great....he couldn't wait to meet the infamous N'SYNC. However, truth be
told, there were certain members that he was especially excited about
meeting!

------------------------------ Part III: "Waiting for tonight!"

On Friday, Brent woke up to the sounds of R.O.C.K 93.5 blaring from his
alarm clock as usual, only this time, he found himself feeling somewhat
disappointed that the sounds permeating throughout his room were not the
voices of the five handsome N'SYNCers. He lay in bed a moment,
contemplating the events of the day. He had to somehow get through school
today without combusting from excitement! After classes, he and Evan were
heading out to the mall to get some new 'concert' clothes, and then it was
off to see N'SYNC!

He managed to make it through the day in his semi-dazed state. He couldn't
believe that he was getting so worked up about meeting the very pop group
that he had proclaimed his hate for. Although, he knew that he liked their
music, he never once thought that he would turn into a teeny when presented
with the chance to meet them!

He met up with Evan and Sarah again at lunch. Although they tried to
refrain from talking about the concert in front of Sarah, she told them
that it was ok to celebrate their 'special' day. They discussed what
clothes they had in mind, what time they should be ready, what time they
should leave, and of course, the guys of N'SYNC. Evan eventually wandered
into talking about how the guys looked...this was a little uncomfortable
for Brent. Sarah had known about Evan as long as he had, but he had not
come out to her yet--and for some reason he didn't feel that this was the
time or place to do it! He just sat back and listened, thinking about how
much he wanted to voice his opinion on the guys. Somehow, however, he
managed to keep his opinions to himself.

The rest of Brent's day went as normally as every other day had this week,
except for in his last period. He had managed to laugh for twenty minutes
straight during Music Appreciation class when the teacher mentioned
something about the baritones' singing not being "N'SYNC!" (Sorry, but I
had to put a pun somewhere in the story! No true N'SYNC story would be
complete without at least one not-so-good pun...)

After school, Evan met up with Brent. They got into Brent's Montero Sport,
and headed to the mall. The mall was more crowded than they had hoped. For
some reason they had forgotten to compensate for the Friday afternoon rush
in their planning.... They just hoped that they would be able to find what
they needed, and get out in time to go home and get ready. They didn't want
miss ANY of the concert, and they definitely wanted prime parking!

The first store that they headed to was Eddie Bauer. Brent picked up some
denim pants with a smaller cuff than normal. Evan picked up some shirts,
but not for the concert. They headed to the Gap where Brent bought a navy
blue ribbed turtleneck to go with his pants. Evan began considering a
similar ensemble, but he saw the look of disapproval on Brent's face. He
decided to go with some black corduroys, and a blue silk shirt. This was
still a little too similar for Brent's liking, but he dealt with it.

They left the mall as soon as they had everything, and were on their way to
their respective homes. Brent dropped Evan off, making sure that they both
knew exactly what time to be ready! At 5:40 Brent was making his way back
to Evan's place. The concert started at seven, so he wasn't in too much of
a rush. He picked up Evan, and they were on their way to the
coliseum. When they got there, they couldn't believe the amount of people
that had already arrived!

"So much for decent parking..." Brent mumbled. They ended up parking a
good ways down the street, and found themselves faced with a brisk walk
back to the coliseum. They were really going to be cutting it close.
Finally, they made it back at about six thirty.

They joined in line with everyone else. There were mostly teenaged girls,
but they both noticed a few guys scattered throughout. The line was
actually moving at a steady pace, and before they knew it, they were
finding their seats. This was it, the concert that they had been waiting
for all week!

The lights dimmed, smoke filled the stage, and there were inconstant
flashes of colored lights. Five huge fountains of white light burst from
the stage, and then, the guys were there...all looking down at the
floor. Then, they heard Justin's voice..."You're all I ever wanted. You're
all I ever needed, YEAH...so tell me what to do now, when I
want..you..back!" The music began, and the guys danced fluently in their
obviously well learned choreography.

The concert continued on with the thousands of girls screaming at the top
of their lungs. Evan and Brent both joined in on all of the songs, but
refrained from as much screaming as possible. Brent unconsciously followed
Lance with his eyes. He paid attention to the entire group, but he was
definitely eyeing Lance more than any of the others.

The show was thought to end when the guys finished all of the songs from
their album, but they surprised the audience by doing a special performance
of their newest single "Bye, Bye, Bye!" After finishing the last selection,
the group seemed to run off stage. Brent found this a little odd, but
thought that it must have just been him that thought this.

The audience was being dismissed by rows, as to keep some type of order in
the widespread chaos. When Brent's row was let out, he and Evan quickly
made their way to the backstage entrance.

"This is it!" Evan remarked excitedly! "I am actually going to meet
Justin...err, umm N'SYNC!"

"Yeah.... I can't wait either!" Brent said, cracking a smile.

When they approached the entrance, there were two huge guards, turning away
all of the fans who didn't have backstage passes. They were in the process
of turning away Brent and Evan when the pair flashed the passes that the
radio had sent them. They were told to go through the double doors, and to
a room at the very end of the left hallway. They followed the
instructions, and soon found themselves in front of N'SYNC's dressing
room. Evan timidly knocked on the door...there was a reply of "It's
open..." and he turned the knob...entering the room.

They were greeted by the site of the guys lounging around, drinking water,
and trying to calm down after their killer performance. Brent noticed,
however, that none of them seemed too happy to see them. Brent was the
first to speak.

"HI! That was an awesome show! You guys were really great!" he said, trying
to strike up some sort of conversation.

"Thanks." Came Joey's emotionless reply.

"Umm, sure.....No problem..." Brent said worriedly. Had he done something
wrong?

"It really was a great show." Evan chimed in happily. He had come out of
his awestruck state.

"Yeah, umm, that's great. So now, how about you just collect your
autographs and go!" Chris said firmly while pointing to five stacks of
pictures on a table in the center of the room."

"Pardon?" Brent said, getting a little angry.

"He said, why don't..." JC began, only to be cut off by Brent.

"NO! WE don't want your fucking autographs! For all I care, you can take
your frickin' pictures and shove em' u...." Now Brent was the one being cut
off...

"Come on Brent, let's go!" Evan said pulling Brent out of the room. But not
before Brent could groan his last words.

"Fucking bastards..." They stormed out of the room and were making their
way back to the backstage entrance so that they could get out of
there. They were pissed. A few seconds later, Justin came running out the
door to the dressing room.

"Wait!" he shouted...

To be continued....???
