Prologue

I was running. Running where? I had no clue. I knew I had to get
out of that room. I would be thoroughly satisfied if I only left for an
hour. I just needed to alienate myself from the environment. I ran out of
the campus ground and into the streets. I didn't know where to go or who
to talk to. I didn't have any friends here. I felt like a foreigner.
Once I had gotten out of the campus, I slowed myself to a steady walk.
That's when all the things I was escaping caught up with me, because I
slowed down. I couldn't avoid it anymore..and I just started
remembering...

Chapter 1

I just arrived at the dorms. College, finally. I felt like my
life can finally start now. So here I was, 3,000 miles away from home, my
new start.

Well for starters, my name is Brett. College freshman at the
University of Nevada at Las Vegas(UNLV). Far away from New York, that I
knew. I had to deal with a lot shit going here. I went against tons of
discouragement to go to UNLV. I never really cared for people's opinions
on what I should do with my life. Not even my family or friend's opinions.
So I packed up my stuff and went off to college.

The dorm was pretty spacious, so I figured I'd be having a
roommate. By the looks of the state of the room, I assumed he wasn't here
yet. So I seized the opportunity to unpack my stuff. I decided to wait
till he gets here to choose a bed. I didn't want to piss the guy off before
we got to know each other. The room was your basic dorm. However since
they were newer dorms, it had some pretty nice extras. Two beds, two
dressers, two closets, two desks on opposite sides of the room. The middle
of the room had a couch and coffee table. On one side of the room was a
door to a bathroom we shared with the other room next door. And in the far
corner was a little kitchen with a refrigerator sink and counter. Here's
the cool part, on the other end of the room was a sliding door that led out
to a nice little modern balcony, perfect for two people. I knew I was
gonna love living here. So I unpacked all my cloths and left the other
stuff that would go in my desk and dresser in my boxes. It was nearing
dinner time and I was starved, so I figured I'd better see the city and
find some place to eat. I started to doubt if my roommate even existed.
So I locked the room and headed off on my quest to find a take-out place.
So I figured I'd start with the strip and see what was there to eat. I
caught a bus, I didn't have car here with me, I found a nice restaurant and
had a good first meal here in Vegas. I figured I'd wait until tomorrow to
brave the campus food.

I got back to the dorm around 8 o'clock and still no roommate,
weird I thought. I really wanted to finish unpacking and this guy wasn't
here yet. So I thought screw it. If he doesn't like where his bed is,
I'll move and he can take mine.

Just as I started to fish through my boxes, there was a knock on
the door. I figured this was the late roommate. So I got up and went to
answer the door. I openedd the door and there stood a guy, probably around
6 feet. He seemed like the west coast type, still had his sunglasses on,
plus a hat.

	"This room 19?"he said.

"..hope so or else I unpacked in the wrong room." he smiled at that
"Hey,
nice to meet you, I'm Brett.."

"Justin...sorry I'm late, I had a lot to pack, plus I had some
loose ends" my
	new roommate said.

He had a southern accent when he talked, I though maybe I'm not the
only one not from Nevada here. I started to help him with his stuff into
the room

"Dam, this is one sweet dorm room" Justin remarked.

	"Sure is...I didn't pick a bed yet, I didn't know what one you'd
had a
preference on so I figured I'd wait to you got here.." I explained.

"That was nice of ya man..you didn't have to but...thanx" I started
to like his
accent a little. But it also started to sound awfully familiar.

"No prob bob". He cracked another smile. And that gave me a
realization I
	have seen this guy before.

We settled on who gets what bed and then we started unpacking the
remains of what we had. I brought some stuff from my room back home, my
laptop, some posters and my lava lamps. I noticed he sure did have a lot
more cloths than I brought. I found that odd, I swear I know this guy. I
glanced over toward his side of the room to see if he needed any help or
anything. He had taken off his hat and glasses, that did it, I knew who he
was.

	"Whoa!" I yelled.

"Brett, what's wrong, you ok?" Justin said concerned.

"You're Justin, like Justin from N*sync! This would be the last
place on earth
	I thought you would be."

"oh.." He said kind of dejectedly.

	"I'm sorry, I didn't mean that in a bad way, just like I didn't
think you'd
wanna go college with the millions you've made." I said trying to
redeem
	myself.

"It's ok, it's weird for me too..I just figured education is
important and I
wanted to get a degree before I got too old and lazy to go back.
I'm only
	19, so I figured I didn't miss that much."Justin said.

"Smart move.." We finished unpacking and moved to the couch. "so,
what
are you gonna major in?" I asked.

"Funny as it may sound..acting. I just love it. I love it just as
much as
	singing." Justin replied.

"weird..I umm, I'm majoring in acting too" I said hesitantly.

"Guess they really know how to bunk roommates"

	"yeah...guess they do."

"So Brett, wanna go out and see the city?" Justin asked.

"..yea, sounds fun, let's go. Oh wait, the buses don't run this
late do
they?" I said sadly, not wanting to miss an opportunity to go out
with Justin.

"hey, no problem, I rented a car" Justin said matter-a-factly.

"awesome...let's go!" I said excitedly, I hope not too excitedly.

We locked the room and headed out to the parking lot. Justin
rented a red Volkswagon Jetta. I figured he'd go for a real fancy car.
Maybe there was a lot more to Justin then I knew from TV. Just being with
him for only a couple of hours made me really happy I came out here. Just
my luck too that of all the people in the world, I'd get him as my
roommate. Was it fate? A frown came upon my face as I realized Justin was
gonna have to know about my preference in the love department. He'll
probably want to get a new roommate when he finds out.

"Hey, Brett your real quiet, ya ok?" Justin asked with concern.

"..what? oh yea, just a little home sick, I'm ok..come on let's go"
I said back to Justin, quickly throwing my previous thoughts out the
window, I didn't want to put a damper on the nite.

We spent a couple of hours going in and out of hotels to see what
kind of stores they had. See where we can go shop for cloths at a later
date. It was funny how almost no one seemed to notice Justin. Too many
people were busy gambling. Plus the fact that he had his ^Ñdisguise' on
help too. We walked around for awhile taking in the amazing sights, while
trying to get to know each other better. It was as if I knew him my entire
life. He was so easy to talk to. Which would be a good sign, for later.
We stopped at Caesar's Palace to get some ice cream. We sat in the ice
cream shop and started to talk about acting. Turns out we had a couple of
the same acting classes together which would be awesome, cause we'll have
the same schedule.

We made it back to the dorm around midnight and I was very
exhausted. Justin and I got ready for bed and got into our respective
beds.

"Night Brett...thanx for the cool company tonight" Justin said.

"Anytime Justin, I had fun.."I said in the middle of a yawn
"night.."

I started to drift off to sleep but I couldn't fall asleep.
Something was keeping my awake. I started to think about back home, how
far away it was. How everyone told me going here was a bad idea. I felt
so much stress come over me that moment about trying to succeed her at
UNLV, I just felt the tears fill up and turned over to cry into my pillow.

"Brett...are you crying? Is everything OK?" Justin said with such
concern.

"I don't know what to do...I.." before I knew it I was embraced in
a hug by Justin. He started smoothing my back and telling me it was gonna
be ok. Having him in my bed felt so right, but I felt shame for the
thoughts I was thinking. However sleep overcame the war of my eyelids and I
fell into a deep sleep.
