After exchanging formalities everyone went inside and began to enjoy the
festivities.  After a large meal was shared, everyone gathered into the
living room near the Christmas tree. Nick walked around the room with his
digital camcorder taping the guys in the Christmas setting. Christmas
seemed to bring everything together. All was right with the world around
this time. Smiles seemed to be permanently pasted on people's faces. Nick
filmed around the room and stopped on Ashley. He waved to the camera and

shut the camera off and sat down next to him, putting his arm around his

"I mean it Howie, you don't have to be happy for him but at least respect

"We'll see" Howie said as he walked into the other room.

"Look guys there's something I need to talk to you about" Howie said as he
walked into the room with Nick and Ashley. "As you both know I haven't been
exactly supportive of your relationship. I want you both to know that it's
not gonna be easy for me but I'm gonna try. That's all I can say right now
but I just wanted you to know that I'm trying."

"That's all we can ask of you Howie." Nick said, "I appreciate it D"

AJ walked into the room after hearing this and put his hand on Howie's
shoulder as a sign of thanks.

"Let's open up some gifts," AJ said

"OK I've got one from the rest of the guys first. I went around with my
camcorder before they all left for the holiday." Nick said as he began to
hook up the wires with the TV.

Dan Miller of O-town came up first.

"Merry Christmas guys. Sorry I couldn't be with you guys in sunny Florida
but I had to head home. I couldn't deal with not having snow for the
winter." Dan said as his clip came to an end.

Brian and Kevin flashed next, followed by Erik, Jacob and Trevor. Everyone
wished a Merry Christmas and said that they would be back soon.

"That was awesome Nick." AJ said. "Alright my gift next." He pulled out a
present and handed it to Nick "This is for both you and Ashley." He said
looking over at both men.

Nick brought it to Ashley and let him open it. He tore the wrapping away to
see two picture frames with a picture of the two lovers in it kissing. At
the bottom it was engraved "Nick and Ashley"

"Wow, this is great AJ, thanks." Ashley said.

Nick didn't know what to say. He was so touched by this that he just got up
and gave AJ a hug. "Thank you for being a friend when I need it" Nick
whispered in his ear.

"Just returning the favor." AJ whispered back.

All of the other gifts were exchanged and all the guys sat there around the
Christmas tree just enjoying each other's company. Jokes were told, laughs
were exchanged and good times were had all around.

Nick and Ashley were on the interstate heading back to Nick's house and
when they got to the Tampa house, Nick looked over and saw the beach that
they had made love on the night before. An idea came to his head.

"Wanna sleep on the beach tonight?" Nick asked

Nick ran inside and got the same blankets from last night, after they had
been washed earlier that day and two pillows. Both men got down to their

only two days until New Year's Eve. After hard touring and rehearsing, the
boys needed some type of outlet so a bunch of them decided to go to the gym
and release some tension. The crew consisted of AJ, Ashley, Brian, Nick,
Jacob and Dan.

Ashley grabbed a free weight and walked over to where Dan was working on

Ashley walked back over to where Nick was and Dan continued to do some

"Hey you're Dan from O-town aren't you?" A voice from behind him asked. Dan
sighed expecting it to be a fan taking away from his privacy. He turned and
saw a face that looked very familiar. He saw very blond hair sticking out
of the back of a blue polo hat and Dan immediately recognized the young
man.

"Yeah that's me. You're Devon Sawa. I'm a big fan." Dan replied shaking his
hand.

"Probably not as much as I am of you guys. That new album is hot. I've got
tickets to the New Year's show too. It should be awesome." Devon said

"Thanks man. I appreciate it." Dan said.

"Hey do you mind if I work out with you? I always push myself better with
another person to spot me and shit," Devon asked

"Sure man no problem," Dan said

All the men continued to work out for about another hour or so and then
each of them progressively headed for the locker rooms. Nick and Ashley
came in, followed by Brian and AJ. Soon after that Dan and Devon came in
and then finally Jacob.

All the guys got undressed and headed for the showers. It was a community
shower, which gave everyone else a nice view of what was being sported. Dan
let the water run over his hair. He couldn't get Devon out of his head. Dan
had some awkward feelings for a while now. Even while he was with his
ex-girlfriend Cindy he had some interesting feelings that he wasn't sure of
towards other men. Devon was directly to his left and Dan couldn't help but

"Thanks man" Ashley said. "Hey a bunch of us were gonna go out to eat
tonight. Do you wanna come?"

"If it's cool with you guys." Devon said

"It's be really cool if you came" Dan said putting his hand on Devon's
shoulder, Dan now being ecstatic after hearing what he just heard about

"Alright I'm there," Devon said.

Before Devon knew it he was sitting in a Planet Hollywood towards the back
of the room with all of the members of O-town and Backstreet Boys. Devon

"I think that's a good idea," Devon said.

Good times were had at Planet Hollywood that night. A group photo was taken
with a Polaroid about 10 times and one was signed to be blown up and put on
the wall. The others were passed amongst the boys. They laughed the night
away simply enjoying the life that they led. Some may call it a dream world
but according to these boys it was life and life was good.
