Subject: "Nick and Justin" part 22

OK, I know it's late and I'm sorry. I'm trying to work out a better
schedule, but I do think that while school is going on the story will only be
updated every 5 days to a week. I would like to thank everyone who has
offered words of support and kindness this past week or so. Life hasn't been
too kind recently, but some people make everything worth it.

This story involves relationships between members of Backstreet Boys and
N'Sync. This is totally a work of fiction and is not meant to imply anything
about the sexuality or beliefs of anyone involved.

The other series I work on, "Lost and Found" was recently updated, so
give it a look if you get a chance. It's a collaborative effort between
myself and RJ, the author of N'Sync and RJ, another great story.

Please send all comments, etc to Mike at BrwyMilo@aol.com. I love mail.
Well, enjoy the story!

                                    *****

"Good news Justin. You're going to be released tomorrow," Lynn announced
cheerfully as she entered the room. "They're just going to run a few more
tests today and then you'll be out of here."

Justin smiled widely. "Well that's a relief. What about Nick?"

"I saw his mother on the way here and she said that Nick's going to be
released tomorrow as well."

Justin giggled loudly. "So you and Jane are really bonding huh?"

Lynn groaned. "Yes, it seems as though Jane and I have a lot more in
common than our gay sons," she said with a laugh. Justin rolled his eyes and
continued to stare at his mother.

"Mom, are you really better with this? I mean with me and Nick?"

Lynn sighed and pulled a chair over to Justin's bed. She looked at him
for a second and then dropped her eyes. "I'm going to say yes. I'm still a
little surprised by the whole thing, but if this makes you happy..." She
stopped and looked carefully at her son. He had a longing in his eyes,
searching for the kind of understanding she knew he needed. She let out a
long breath. "If this makes you happy then who am I to complain. I only
ever wanted your happiness."

Justin smiled widely and put his arms around his mother, pulling her into
a tight embrace. "I love you," he said slowly.

"And I love you," Lynn managed to choke out. She cleared her throat and
then pulled back. "Why don't you go visit with Nick? I'm sure he'd like
that."

"He isn't asleep," Justin asked as he peered into Nick's room across the
hall.

"His mom was going to wake him. I don't think she'd mind if you went in
to visit him."

Justin got up from his bed, fully aware that he was still only dressed in
a hospital gown. "I can't wait to get some real clothes," he muttered to
himself as he walked across the hall. He stopped at the doorway and peered
inside. Nick was stirring slightly. Justin watched him and smiled warmly.
He walked over to the side of the bed and quickly glanced around. He sat
down gently and laid one hand on Nick's shoulder. Nick opened his eyes
quickly and looked up.

"Hey there," he said with a slight yawn. "I missed you. How were your
tests?"

Justin laughed. "I don't think I've ever been so thoroughly examined."

Nick giggled slightly. "So I guess you're not in the mood to play
doctor," Nick asked with a small pout.

Justin slipped his hand under the sheets and began to slowly rub Nick's
thigh. Nick leaned back a bit and began to breathe heavier as Justin
massaged his leg. Justin leaned forward and kissed him lightly on the lips.
Nick went to kiss him back
but found that Justin had already pulled back. He moved his hand up to
Nick's member and took it gently into his hand. Nick moaned lowly and closed
his eyes. Justin brought his head down to Nick's and began to suck on his
earlobe.

"Excuse me," Kevin said from the doorway. "Would you guys like to
finish, or can I introduce someone to you?"

Nick and Justin both jumped when they heard Kevin's voice. "Umm...come
in,"
Nick yelled, causing Justin to turn a bright shade of red.

Kevin entered slowly, checking to make sure everyone was decent. He
grinned
as he stared at the two of them. "Feeling better I see?"

Nick nodded happily and kissed Justin on the cheek. Justin laughed a bit
and then got out of Nick's bed and into the chair by the side of it.

"How are you doing Kevin," Justin asked.

"Well, not so bad. I'm actually here to introduce you to someone." Kevin
turned back towards the door and motioned for Devon to come in. "Nick,
Justin, this is Devon."

Justin smiled warmly and stood to shake Devon's hand. "Nice to meet you
Devon."

"Likewise," Devon replied. He walked over to the bed where Nick was lying
and shook his hand as well. "Are you guys feeling better?"

"Yea, once this jerk woke up, everything was OK," Justin said with a
laugh.

"Oh, now I'm a jerk huh," Nick replied.

"You know I love you," Justin said with a laugh as he kissed Nick's hand.
Then his head shot up as he threw a look at Devon. "Oh shit..."

"He knows," Kevin said quickly trying to calm Justin. "Fatima told him."

Justin was a bit shocked. "Why would Fatima do that," he asked slowly.

"Fatima got hurt pretty badly in the accident," Kevin told them. "She's
got
a broken leg, and hurt her back pretty bad. Under the circumstances, she
thought it would be too hard on her to train us herself, so Devon is going
to be filling in for the tour."

"Oh," Nick replied. Then he laughed. "So you're going to be our new
slave
driver for a while?"

"That's me," Devon said with a laugh. Then, more seriously, "I hear you
guys are getting out tomorrow. Which is cool because I was thinking of
having an all day rehearsal. I've already got the space ready and wait til
you see some of these moves. Do either of you have a heart condition I
should be aware of?"

    Justin's jaw dropped. "But we-"

Devon laughed loudly. "It's a joke! I'm kidding, I swear. You guys are
getting a break, I promise." He laughed again. "No more than 8 hours
practice a day, I swear."

"Cute," Nick said with a laugh. "Real cute."

"Hi guys," Lance said as he strolled into the room. "Oh, hi Dev!"

"Hey Lance," Devon replied with a smile. "I was just telling the guys
about
our all day rehearsal tomorrow."

Lance laughed loudly. "Isn't he hysterical," Lance said sarcastically.

"So, what's everyone doing today," Nick asked.

"Mostly hanging around here I guess," Kevin replied. "Most of our stuff
was
damaged in the accident, so looks like we're going to head over to a mall
tomorrow after you guys get released. But after that, it's rest for a few
days. No partying or anything like that," Kevin instructed. "You both need
rest. We need you to be your best for the tour."

"Don't' worry Kev," Nick said with a grin. "We'll get plenty of bed
rest."

"That's what I'm afraid of," Kevin replied.

"So, Devon, you wanna go hang out or something," Lance asked.

"Um, yea sure. I've met all the guys already, so looks like I'm free,"
Devon replied.

"Cool," Lance said as he walked towards the door. "Feel better you guys,"
he said to Nick and Justin.

"Lance can I talk to you for a second," Kevin said as he pulled Lance out
into the hall.

"I'll be right back Dev," Lance said as he was jerked away.

Kevin led Lance to a bench just out of earshot of the room. "Lance, what
are you doing," Kevin asked as he sat down next to Lance.

"What do you mean," Lance asked.

"I mean with Devon." Kevin paused and looked around. "I know you're
attracted to him, but do you feel anything more?"

Lance thought for a second and then smiled. "Yea, I think I so. I mean
he
seems really nice, he's extremely attractive and...I dunno. He's just
great."

"He's also going to be our new choreographer," Kevin replied harshly. "I
don't think it's a good idea to start a personal relationship that could
damage a professional one. You're going to have to work with him for a long
time Lance. Think of what could happen."

"Kevin, you're being paranoid. I'm not going to do anything stupid-"

"Like sleeping with Brian," Kevin shot at him.

Lance froze where he was. "Fuck you," he muttered coldly. "You have no
right to interfere with my life." With that Lance stormed back to the room.

"Ready Devon," he said with a fake smile.

"Yep, let's go. It was nice meeting you guys," Devon said as he waved.

"Yea same here," Nick replied. He watched as Devon left the room and then
turned to Justin. "Now where were we?" Justin grinned widely and got up
from the chair and moved back to the bed.

"Guys," Kevin whined as he reentered the room. Justin and Nick both
groaned
as Justin moved back to the chair. "I'm worried about Lance."

"Why Kevin," Nick asked a bit grumpily.

"Well, I think he's falling for Devon and I don't think it's a good idea.
When he first saw him his eyes almost popped out of his head. He's been
following
him around a lot and he just met the guy! He doesn't know anything about
him! I don't think it's a good idea for him to even consider a relationship
with him."

    "But why," Justin asked.

Kevin sighed and sat at the foot of Nick's bed. "Devon is going to be
working very closely with us. If he and Lance get into a relationship, we
all know it's gonna have it's ups and downs. That's gonna put a lot of
strain on their working relationship."

Justin thought for a moment. "Kevin, I've known Lance for a long time.
He
isn't going to give this up easily. Unless Devon shoots him down, he's
gonna pursue what he wants. Trust me, I know. But I also know that Lance
won't bring his personal life to work that that."

"We can't always get involved in each other's lives like this Kevin.
People
need to make their own choices and their own mistakes in order to learn from
them," Nick added.

Kevin sighed. "Fine. I'll lay off for now." He stopped and looked at
them. "You
two aren't going to climb back into that bed together again, are you?"

    "Who us," Justin asked innocently.

"Hi Kevin," Jane Carter said as she and Lynn entered the room for a visit.

"Nope, not us," Nick said with an audible groan.

                    *****

Brian sat in the chair with wires attached to his chest. His
breathing was slow and deep as he glanced at the printout they were making
of his heartbeat. The doctor had a stethoscope pressed to his back,
monitoring his breathing while listening to the thumping inside. "Well,
everything sounds OK in there," the doctor said as Brian felt the cold
instrument being withdrawn.

"What about the printout, how does that look," Brian asked a bit
nervously.

"Brian, your heart is fine. You gave us a little scare, but
everything is going great."

Brain sighed deeply and tried to relax as the doctor removed all the
nodes. He rubbed his hands over his torso to try to get rid of the
sensation he had that they were still there. Then he grabbed his shirt and
pulled it on over his head. "Was that my last test?"

The doctor looked up at him and smiled. "That's it. We want you to
stay one more night for precaution, but you'll be released tomorrow with
your other friends."

Brain smiled and thanked the doctor and walked out into the hall.
He glanced around nervously until he found what he was looking for. Against
the wall, his head face down on his knees sat JC. Brain walked slowly over
to him and sat down, mimicking his position. JC turned his head slightly, as
did Brian's. As JC's smile grew wider, so did Brian's. Finally JC spoke.

"Look, it's like my own personal human shadow!" Brian laughed a bit
and nodded. "How'd your tests go?"

"Pretty good. The heart is doing good; nothing irregular. Sorry,
looks like you're stuck with me for a while longer."

JC smiled widely. "I'd like to be stuck with you forever," he said
in a whisper. Brian blushed and put his head down. JC sighed and stood up.
"Well, what should we do? Wanna take a run and see Fatima?

"Sure," Brian said as he went to stand. JC's took Brian's arm and
helped him to his feet. "Why thank you," Brian said.

They strolled down the patient lined halls towards Fatima's room.
JC grinned as he walked in. "I hope she's feeling better."

Brian entered behind JC and stood next to him by the side of her
bed. They looked down at her face and saw the eyes closed and their hair
extremely messy. She was lying to one side with her feet dangling off the
bed, her arms extended so that one was behind her neck while the other was
bent around her head. "Looks like she's asleep," Brian said as he turned to
go.

"No, I'm not asleep. This is the only position that doesn't hurt,"
she said, her eyes still closed.

"Wow, that bad huh." JC said sympathetically.

"Yep, lucky me," Fatima said with a weak grin. "But they're
getting me some stronger painkillers, so I should be fine to walk around
and stuff. It's just until I get them that even breathing is like torture."

"Damn," Brian said. "Do you remember what you hurt yourself on?"

"Well, when the bus fell, I lurched my back. I thought I had broken
it for a minute which scared the hell out of me. But I could move OK, it
just hurt like hell whenever I tried. I passed out from the pain I guess
because I don't even remember how I broke my leg."

    "That really sucks," Brian mumbled.

"You're telling me," she said as she began to move. She bit down
hard and gritted her teeth as she felt the immense pain shoot through her
body. JC couldn't bear to watch her as he put his head down. Finally, she
sighed deeply and was lying normally, her head rested against several
pillows. "So, have you guys met Devon yet?"

"Yea," JC said as he looked up. "He seems like a nice enough guy."

She laughed. "Wait until you work with him! You think I'm tough.
He makes me look like a kindergarten teacher!"

"So, this is like some cruel joke," Brian laughed.

"No," she laughed. "This isn't a joke. I wanted you guys to have
the best. And since I was injured, I got the next best thing," she said
with a grin.

"No one could ever replace you Fatima," Brian said with a smile.

"Well I'm still going to be overseeing most of the stuff he does
with you guys, but I've given him full leave to make some changes to a few
dances. He's a really good guy. You're going to love some of the stuff he
does with you."

"I'm sure Lance will," JC said under his breath.

    "What's that," Fatima asked.

"Oh nothing really. It's just that it seems as though Lance has
taken quite a liking to Devon."

Fatima looked at him surprised for a moment. She sighed and then
adjusted her position. "Well, I guess I should've known he would."

"Is there anything he should be careful of? I mean, Dev's a nice
guy, right?"

Fatima nodded. "Yes, Devon is a really nice guy. But I'm not sure
it would be a good idea for Lance to start a relationship with Devon right
now. He's had a lot of adjusting to go through in a very short time. He
was dancing professionally for a while with the Boston Ballet Company and
just quit recently. Then I called him for this job and he rushed here. I
mean, he's been living non-stop for a very long time. Since he was a lot
younger really. And he's not even twenty-one yet. I dunno. I just think
he needs a little space and time to adjust to all this."

"Think I should talk to Lance about this," JC volunteered.

Fatima thought for a moment and then shook her head. "I don't think
so. I mean, Devon has to make his own choices and Lance has to pursue what
he wants. I guess I'm just trying to protect everyone. You know me when my
hormones kick in."

JC and Brian both jumped back and ducked for cover. Fatima laughed
loudly and yawned. "We're gonna let you get some sleep now," Brian said as
they walked towards the door.

"Feel better," JC yelled as he left.

Fatima lay in her bed and stared up at the ceiling. "God, please
let them be careful," she prayed silently to herself. "Lance, I hope you
know what you're in for."

                    *****

"AJ, honey, wake up," Britney said as she shook AJ. He had fallen
asleep in the chair, his head slumped over the foot of her bed. "Come on,"
she said again as she gently shook him. He stirred a bit, but didn't move.
She sighed heavily and reached over to the glass of ice water that was on
her nightstand. She poured a little onto her hand and began to drip water
down AJ's neck. He jumped up, suddenly awake. He threw a glance over at
her and smiled.

"I thought it was raining," he grinned.

"Nope, just me trying to get you off my foot," she said with a
laugh. "The doctor said I'm being released tomorrow with everyone else."

"That's great news," AJ said excitedly as he hugged her.

"Yea, you're telling me. I'm sick of hospital food. What is this
cream of gym sock or something," she said as she swirled her spoon in a bowl
a something.

"Here's lemme taste it," AJ said as he took the bowl. He brought
the spoon to his lips and slurped it up. His eyes got wide as he swallowed.
"This is great," he said as he took another spoon full. I think its cream
of chicken. Here, taste some," he said as he brought a spoon to Britney's
lips.

She jerked back and shook her head. "No thanks babe. It's all
yours."

"Are you sure? You don't know what you're missing," he said as he
waved the spoon around.

"Oh, I'm positive," she said with a grin. "I'm just gonna have some ice,"
she said as she took her glass of ice water.

"How about this? When you get out tomorrow, we'll eat dinner at a
really nice restaurant."

Britney smiled widely. "That sounds wonderful."

"Then it's all set. I think we're all getting some time off from
everything to help us recover form this."

"I think we need some. Oh, did you meet the new choreographer?"

"Yea, I met him while you were getting your tests done. He seems
nice enough," AJ said.

"Yea. So he's gonna be with us the entire tour, right," Britney
asked.

"Yep. Fatima's gonna be supervising though, or something like that.
I'm really not sure. All I care about right now is that you're getting
released and there's no more Robert to worry about."

"Yea, but what about the tapes and pictures and stuff," Britney
asked, a bit worried.

AJ grinned widely. "Actually, that's being taken care of. We got
his room key, and Joey and Howie are over there right now clearing the stuff
out. There gonna put it in Kevin's room so that we can sort through it."

"What do you think they'll find," Britney asked?

    "With Robert, God only knows."

                                    *****

"And we're in," Joey said as he removed the key from the door. He
opened it slowly, almost fearful that something would jump out at him. He
stuck his head in, and followed cautiously with the rest of his body.

"Would you just go," Howie yelled as he gave him a slight shove.
"Robert's in a coma, in the hospital. There's nothing here that's gonna get
you."

Joey began to walk in a little faster, but still moved with caution.
Howie groaned and brushed past him. "Alright, I'll go first!"

He walked quickly over to Robert's bed and opened the duffel bag
that lay there. He began to throw the clothes out of it. He sighed heavily
and gathered up everything he had just thrown and put it back in the bag.
"Well, there's nothing in there!"

Joey began to open the drawers to the short dresser. When he got to
the third one he stopped. "I think I may have found something."

Howie swiftly walked over to where Joey was kneeling and smiled.
"And what is this," he said as he removed a small black duffel bag. He put
it down gently on the bed and tried the zipper. "Christ, the bastard locked
it," he said as he noticed the small padlock attaching the two zippers.

"Here, I got it," Joey said as he removed his pocket knife. He
ripped a hole in the nylon and pulled, ripping a huge seam. Pictures
spilled out of the opening as did some tapes.

"Looks like we've struck gold," Howie said with a laugh. He tore
the hole open bigger and turned the bag inside out. "Wow."

Inside was all the evidence Robert had on any of them. There were
the standard pictures that they had known he was taking, as well as the ones
from the pool and gym. But there were also a few more private moments.
Lance crying in a corner. Nick holding Justin's hand as they entered their
room together. Brian gently kissing JC's hand.

"This could have been really hard to explain," Joey said slowly. He
picked up a printout and stared at it. "Howie, look at this. Invoices from
every hotel that we're staying at on the tour. Six single rooms, two double
rooms reserved for the bands."

"That bastard checked on everything," Howie sighed. "There are ten
cassette tapes here. I don't even think I want to know what's on them," he
said with a laugh. "Oh god, look at this one," Howie laughed as he picked
up a picture. It was of Joey who appeared to be smiling lovingly at Chris.
"Looks like you two were next on the list."

Joey's eyes got wide as he saw the picture. He laughed loudly and
grabbed it. "I want this blown up to an eight by ten," he laughed out.

"Yea, Chris will love that," Howie laughed with him. "God, Nick and
Justin need to be more careful," Howie said as he saw an entire pile of
pictures of the two kissing. "How would we have explained any of these!"

"What about this one," Joey laughed. In the picture, Brian was
straddling JC's lap.

"Dear Lord," Howie laughed. Then he stopped and put the pictures
down on the bed. "We really shouldn't be laughing at these. Let's just get
all this stuff back up to Kevin's room and-" He stopped and looked down at
the floor. "What the hell!?!"

"What is it Howie," Joey asked. He followed Howie's eyes and
stopped short. "Oh my god."

                        *****
"Hello," Kevin said as he picked up his cell phone.

    "Kevin, hi it's Mindy."

Kevin sat up in his chair and leaned forward a bit. "Did you find
anything out?"

"Actually, yes. That guy you had me check up on was implicated in
a drug bust once. He wasn't caught with the drugs, but he was accused of
planting them on someone to get a story. Nothing ever came of it, but he
still has a record. "

"Is that all you could find?"

"Well, there's one other thing too. This guy may not be too stable.
He spent some time in a few mental hospitals when he was younger. Just be
careful around him. Do you keep your bodyguards around you enough?"

"Actually, we may not have to worry about this guy anymore. Christ
Mindy, don't you watch the news at all," Kevin laughed at her.

"No, why? Something important going on," she asked. Kevin could
hear the familiar sounds of phone ringing and loud yelling in the station
with her.

"No, nothing except we were in a major bus accident," Kevin said.

"Oh my God," Mindy yelled suddenly. "Is everyone alright?"

"Yea, we're all fine, but the guy I asked you to check up on isn't.
He's still in a coma and the doctor doesn't think he's going to come out of
it. Apparently there was some brain damage."

"I don't know if that's a good thing or not," Mindy said, surprising
even Kevin.

"Neither do any of us. We're glad he's gone and is out of our lives,
but I don't think any of us want him dead."

"Well, listen Kev, I gotta run. I'm glad to hear that everyone
pulled through and if I can find anything else on this guy, I'll let you
know."

"You're the best Mindy," Kevin laughed.

"Don't you forget it," Mindy replied before hanging up her phone.

Kevin leaned back in his chair and sighed heavily. "Robert, I hate to say
this, but good riddance." He leaned forward and stood up. He walked over to
where Robert Carter was sitting and sat down next to him. "How are you
doing Robert," Kevin asked.

Robert laughed a bit. "Well, I've been better, but I guess all in all not
too bad."

"Have you gotten a chance to see Nick much," Kevin asked, not knowing
whether or not it was a safe topic.

"Well, you can say I've been standing guard at his room while he sleeps,"
Robert said with just a touch of regret.

    "Why's that," Kevin asked.

"Well, somehow, they always end up in the same bed. No matter where they
start out originally, Justin will either end up in Nick's bed or Nick will
end up in Justin's bed. What can you do? I mean, I'm sure there's a lot of
press around here who would love a good story."

Kevin smiled a bit. "More than you know," he whispered under his breath.

"What did you say," Robert asked.

"Oh, it's nothing. I'll just be happy when we're out of this hospital and
back to a normal life."

"What's so normal about everyday life anymore Kevin," Robert asked a bit
sullenly. "I mean, you guys are always touring. I just found out my son is
gay. How is life at all normal?"

"Well, for us, I guess we just adapted to it. We've gotten used to the
touring. I mean, we miss everyone so much when we have to go, but we're
used to it already. As for the relationships that form, I dunno. I guess
we just see them coming, know what to expect and then get used to them
relatively quickly. We try to be prepared for anything that could happen to
us. We really are like a big family Robert. When one of us needs support
or comfort, the others are always there to help. It's just the way it is."

"I guess I should just swallow my pride and get over things then," Robert
said in a sigh.

"If you want life to be normal again, you're going to have to," Kevin
said. He
patted Robert on the back and then got up, stretching as he did. Just as he
was about to yawn, his cell phone rang. With a groan he pulled it out of
his pocket. "Hello?"

"Kevin, its Howie. Look, we're at Robert's room. We found everything he
had on us, but there was something else here too."

"What is it Howie," Kevin asked in a whisper as he tried to cover the
phone
so no one around could here.

"It looks like cocaine. I don't know what we should do with it," Howie
said, a bit nervously.

Kevin's mind flashed back to Mindy's words. Robert had been accused of
planting drugs on someone once to get a story. Was this his back up plan?
An arrest for drug charges would look just as bad. Kevin felt his hatred
for Robert grow stronger. He turned his attention back to the phone.
"Flush it Howie."

    "Flush it? We can't just-"

"Flush it," Kevin said, a bit sterner. "I'll explain everything later,
but
get rid of that stuff and put any pictures or anything else you find in my
room so that we can decide what to do with everything later."

"If you say so Kevin. I'll talk to you later."

Kevin hung up his phone and put it back into his pocket. "Robert, if you
don't die here, I think I may kill you myself," he said quietly in his head.

"So," Jane said as she sat down in Nick's room. "Isn't it nice that we're
all together?"

"I think it's wonderful," Lynn said with a smile.

Nick and Justin looked at each other and groaned. "Mom, this isn't going
to
be some strange bonding thing, is it," Nick asked with slight dread in his
voice.

"Nick, don't be ridiculous. This is just a chance for us to sit down and
talk and get to know each other better," Jane replied.

"Yep, strange bonding thing," Justin said.

"Justin, hush up," Lynn said. "I only got to meet Jane the other day, so
we
both thought it would be a great idea if all of us got together and got a
chance to talk."

"You didn't bring baby pictures did you," Justin asked with a laugh.

"Oh, I wanna see," Nick said. Justin shot him a look.

"Don't encourage this," Justin said with a laugh.

"I never got to see you as a baby. I bet you were cute," Nick said with a
huge smile.

"I was adorable, but that's beside the point," Justin said sarcastically.
He noticed Jane reach for something in her purse and hand it to him. He
took it into his hand and got a goofy looking grin on his face. "You were
so cute," he said to Nick.

"What," Nick asked. "Mom, you didn't."

"Oh come on! That picture is adorable," Jane said with a laugh. "I carry
it around with me everywhere I go."

"So, did you like pudding when you were a little boy? Or did most
of it miss your mouth completely," Justin asked with a laugh.

"OK, so I was a messy eater," Nick admitted. "Oh who am I kidding,
I'm still a messy eater."

"Wait a second," Lynn said. "I think I have a picture of Justin
taking a bath in here somewhere."

"Pass that baby over," Nick said with a laugh.

"Mom, I will never speak to you again," Justin said quickly.

"Oh, lighten up," Lynn laughed out. She pulled a photo out of her
wallet and handed it to Nick.

"Aw," Nick said as he looked at it.

"I can't believe we're sitting in a hospital looking at baby
pictures," Justin said with a laugh.

"We can talk about other things," Lynn said seriously. "Actually we
did want to discuss one thing with you two."

"What is it mom," Justin asked, a bit concerned.

"Now, I'm sure this will be uncomfortable for everyone involved, but
I think this needs to be said," Jane said. She looked at the two boys and
closed her eyes. "Now, about the birds and the bees."

"Mom, what are you doing," Nick asked, a bit horrified.

"Well, what Lynn and I are concerned about is...well...if you guys
have sex, if you have had sex already, we just hope you used a condom."

"I can't believe I'm discussing my sex life with my mother," Nick
said.

"Nick, it's important," Jane said seriously.

Nick sighed. "Yes mom, everything we do will be done with caution
completely in mind."

"Well I know I feel better," Lynn said.

"Me too," Jane echoed. She smiled at the boys. "Now was that so
bad?"

Nick and Justin both nodded their heads slowly. "You have no idea,"
Nick said. A smile crept onto his face as both he and Justin pulled their
mothers into warm embraces. "We love you guys," Nick said.

Lance laughed loudly as Devon finished his story. "So, I ended up
missing my plane and I had to take a greyhound from Boston to Washington DC."
He laughed loudly and looked at Lance. "It was hell, it really was!"

"Sounds like it," Lance laughed. He glanced down at his watch and sighed
loudly. "I guess we should be going soon."

"Shoot, I didn't realize how late it was getting," Devon said quickly.
"Where are you staying?"

Lance shrugged his shoulders. "Actually I don't know. We've been
spending all our time at the hospital."

"Well, if you want, you can stay in my room. They gave me twin beds for
some reason," Devon said innocently.

"Are you sure? I don't want to impose," Lance said, his heart pounding
in his chest.

"Well, we're going to be spending a lot of time together. I may as well
make some friends," Devon said with a shrug.

Lance thought to himself. 'Don't read too much into this. He's a really
nice guy, he may just be doing this because he's so nice. It doesn't mean
he's interested in you. But he's so great. I just...' "Yea, sure. That
sounds great Dev," Lance said suddenly, not finishing his thought.

"Cool, well then let's go. Mind if we walk? We can get some good
exercise."

Lance laughed. "You are going to be worse than Fatima, aren't you?"

"You know it baby. Now come on. It looks like it's gonna rain," Devon
said as he pulled Lance out from his seat. Lance laughed happily and let
Devon lead the way
