This I Promise You

Chapter 2: The Ides of March

Justin lazily dangled his leg around the dimly lit pool, perturbed
about the intense dream he had just experienced. Sure he had fantasies
about other men before, sometimes about the other members of NSync. Yes,
he could even admit to himself that a majority of his favorite dreams
centered on his best friend Joshua Chasez. Wonderfully vivid images of the
two writhing between silken sheets, being taken into pure bliss on some
foreign sandy shore, or rubbing each other in an erotic dance as they
showered together. However, this dream . . . this dream was different.
All the other dreams were just about getting off. He assured himself, that
it was something all young men fantasized about once in awhile. Justin had
shrugged it of as a phase, nothing to be concerned about. Sure he wasn't
interest in girls, but he just hadn't found the right one to make him want
sex. He never doubted his sexuality until this fateful night in which, the
vision had made him open his mind and his eyes to reality. This dream
. . . an omen of sorts had depicted him getting married, just like he had
always dreamt of. But here he was marrying his best friend! Not some
pretty brunette that he had envisioned would make him be a man. It was a
severe shock to his perception because this dream about another male,
moreover his best friend was not about hot passionate sex but . . . for
LOVE.
Remembering the look on JC's face he could only see a pure and
utter love; something that transcended any love he had ever felt for anyone
before, even from his own parents. It scared him; it horrified him,
because he knew he was feeling the exact same way about JC. Like he could
never be complete if he had to live the rest of his life without the one
man that could make him feel like Justin Randall Timberlake: a sweet,
passionate, down to earth kind of guy, who just happened to be a talented
singer. He didn't want to need someone else to feel complete. He just
wanted to be his own man and make sure his family lived a nice comfortable
life.
"This can't be happening to me," Justin mumbled to himself as he
looked up at the nighttime sky. He carefully laid himself down on the cold
cement floor and folded his arms underneath his head for comfort. Clad
only in a pair of Abercombie & Fitch boxers, he shivered slightly as the
cool Orlando breeze swept across his large backyard.
"Make a wish," a deeply soothing voice told him as a shooting star
cascaded its way toward the earth. It plummeted from the sky with
brilliance, providing a chance for two star-crossed lovers. Justin bolted
upwards from his reverie startled by the sudden intrusion of his musing.
"Don't do that!" he loudly hissed with a wide-eyed expression still
visible on his face.
"Sorry, did I scare you?" the voice questioned as he gently started
kneading away at Justin's tense muscles. Justin exhaled slowly, thoroughly
enjoying the massage he was being given. "Couldn't sleep either?" the
masseuse questioned.
"Not really, I just had an upsetting dream. I couldn't fall back
asleep," Justin responded as he began losing himself with ever push and
pull of the strong muscular hands behind him.
"What was your dream about," the man questioned paying closer
attention to the nape of Justin's neck. Justin moaned softly further
aroused by that particular section of his body. "Justin?" the man
questioned with slight satisfaction.
"Hmmm?" Justin questioned in a daze, appearing to be in a drugged
state of being.
"You with me here buddy," the man questioned jokingly.
"Sorry, what did you say?" Justin asked with slight embarrassment.
"I asked you what was your dream about," he reiterated. "My you're
really tense right here," the voice pointed out, taking extra time
massaging the knots away.
"Mmmm," Justin softly moaned under his breath. "Oh my dream? It
was nothing, just . . . just really strange," Justin covered quickly.
"Come on, you know you can tell me anything," the voice countered,
playfully running his fingers through Justin's curly locks.
"Josh . . ." Justin started speaking, but quickly trailed off.
	"Ya?" his best friend questioned.
"Nothing," Justin sputtered with confusion. This was so strange to
him. The normal everyday interaction between each other was becoming more
then just a game between two good friends. Here in the solace of their
backyard, Justin become alarmingly aware of how gentle and warm JC's hands
were. How they softly caressed his body until all his worries and problems
seemingly melted away. Even JC raking his hands across his hair seemed
like an erotic aphrodisiac to the young man. Justin's heart ached, not
only because he was being tortured by fate but also, because he ached to
have more. Nothing more then to have JC wrap his strong reassuring arms
around his body and never let go.

"SPLASH!"

Justin gasped as he suddenly felt himself in the water. "WHAT WAS
THAT FOR?" Justin hissed loudly, coughing and sputtering water. He quickly
eyed Josh as he too was in a similar state of undress with only a pair of
silk boxers.
"Hey I warned you I would throw you in if you didn't answer me.
You were just too out of it to notice," JC chuckled with amusement.
"Whatever! Well? Aren't you going to help me out?" Justin
questioned as he held up his hand.
"Ummm, No, that's OK. Wouldn't want you pulling me in now would
I?" JC laughed, too wise for silly games.
"No fair!" Justin pouted with childish abandon. Since he was
already wet and inside the pool Justin began swimming short laps around the
refreshing water.

"SPLASH!"

Justin's head popped out of the water as he heard the entrance of
another body into the water. He turned around and noticed JC's absence
from the deck. "JC?" he questioned softly, well aware of JC's love of
scaring him.
"BOO!" a voice whispered into his ear behind him. Justin spun
around and was greeted with JC's smiling face. "Don't want you pouting at
me all day now would I?" JC questioned as he began paddling through the
water.
"You didn't have to," Justin replied.
"Yes I did," JC countered diving underneath only to come up behind
Justin and pull him down. The two became quickly engrossed with an
underwater-wrestling match. After a grueling few moments, the two finally
surfaced with JC pinning Justin at the edge of the pool.
"Josh, you're hurting me!" Justin cried out in pain.
"Oh my God! Are you OK? I'm so sorry Justin I didn't mean it," JC
vehemently apologized and quickly loosened his grip.
"Fooled you!" Justin laughed as he dunked JC's head under the
water. "You can be so gullible," Justin chuckled as he swam his way
towards the steps. His foot was quickly grabbed before he could move more
than a couple of yards.
"You're not getting away that easily," JC stated as he wrapped his
arms across Justin's waist. He quickly began tickling the youth sending
Justin into a fit of laughter.
"OK stop! Stop! I give!" Justin proclaimed between deep gulps of
air. JC smiled with contention, and stopped his onslaught. Justin relaxed
his breathing with JC still holding on to him.
"Hey you never told me what your dream was about," Justin stated
with amusement.
"You wouldn't be interested, just one of those boring dreams," JC
explained with indifference.
"If it was boring why couldn't you go back to sleep?" Justin
countered with a smile. JC floundered with a possible explanation. "Come
on, you can tell me anything," Justin stated in a syrupy voice.
"I'll tell you some other time," JC said, pushing Justin away from
him. "Come on let's play Marco Polo," JC said hurriedly. "You're it!" JC
yelled, quickly swimming his way to the other side. Justin sighed with
slight disappointment and closed his eyes.
"Marco," Justin stated as he began swimming.
"Polo," JC responded. Justin swam confidently toward the voice.
	"Marco"
	"Polo"
	"Marco"
	"Polo"
	"Marco"
"Marco" Justin stated again, waiting for a response.
"Marco?" Justin questioned in puzzlement. "Josh, you know the
rules!" Justin bellowed swimming around in a circle.
"Polo," JC said, shaking himself from his reverie.
"Marco," Justin said again, swimming toward JC.
"Polo," JC slowly stated, watching Justin swimming his way closer.
"Marco" Justin said once again, soon feeling something solid and
warm.
"Polo," JC huskily breathed, his chest heaving very deliberately.
Justin slowly opened his eyes; his hands still touching JC's chest. Their
eyes locked in a magnetic attraction. The two friends stood frozen in
time, in a moment where the microcosms of life came to a screeching halt
for Justin and JC, waiting for their realities to catch up to their dreams.
Justin looked away first, his heartbeat pounding in his own ears.
"Josh," Justin whispered in a quivering voice, his hands traveling
across JC's chest.
	"Justin, I . . . I don't think . . ." JC tried to stop themselves
from crossing the line that would change their lives forever.
"Josh, do you know what I was dreaming about?" Justin questioned
softly. "We were at a wedding, and all our friends were there . . ."
"That's . . . that's nice Justin," JC quickly stated as he began
moving his way from him.
"Don't you want to know who was getting married?" Justin questioned
as he moved forward.
"No, no not really. I think we should get out of the water now,"
JC stated nervously, practically sprinting his way now.
"JC . . . JC I think we should talk about this," Justin stated,
"You had the same dream didn't you?"
"I really don't know what you're talking about Justin," JC said as
he got out of the pool shivering from the cold (or from fear?).
"Josh, look at me," Justin pleaded, stepping out of the water
himself. He walked his way toward his friend, who still had his back
turned to him.
"Just, please don't," JC begged, tears blurring his vision.
"Joshua we should talk about this," Justin whimpered, placing his
hand on JC's shoulder. JC flinched and shrugged away from Justin's reach.
"I think we should get in before we catch cold," JC stated, rushing
his way through the sliding doors.
"Josh . . .." Justin sighed. He stood in silence once more, his
dream still haunting him.
