Through the Time Warp
(My Adventure with Nsync)
chapter 10

As we walked into the building it started to rain. The sounds of
the falling rain were soothing as we descended the stairs into the
building. Lance was holding my hand and Chris was walking behind us. I
looked behind him and he looked a little down. I guess he was worried
about the others.

"Don't worry Chris we'll find the others." I said turning to him.

"Oh I know we will." Chris said smiling.

"Then why the long face a minute ago?" I asked.

"Nothing...It's just...never mind." Chris said shaking whatever it
was off.

I didn't push the conversation, but I made a mental note to ask
about it sometime when we were in a more conversational position. Right
now we were all a little too taxed with the mission of finding our friends.

A little while later:

"You guys, is it just me or are do these stairs go on forever?"
Lance asked.

We had been walking down the stairs for a good 30 minutes and there
was no sign of the stairs reaching any destination. It was almost like we
were walking out into an endless void of stairs.

"I think your right. Maybe there's some kind of trick to it?" I
suggested.

"What would that be? Like some lever or something?" Chris asked.

"Maybe, let's start looking for things to push, or anything!"
Lance added.

We did start looking, but we were getting no where. Except for a
few lights along the way there was nothing on the walls. We even tried
moving those, like some mystery novel hidden room. But it was a no go. We
were all running out of steam too. STAIRS STAIRS STAIRS!

"I can't take much more stairs. It's madness to keep walking when
the scenery stays the same." Chris stated.

"Yeah he's right Lance. We have to find something else to do." I
said.

"Let's try walking up the stairs then." Lance stated.

We walked for a few minutes up the stairs, and to our surprise we
soon reached the door to the roof.

"How the hell did we get back here so soon?" Chris asked.

"The stairs must just be there for looks...maybe the whole building
is some kind of trick. I really don't know." I stated as frustrated as
him.

I slammed the door in anger...and looked at it closely. That's
when I saw something on the side of the door.

"There's buttons on the side of the door!" Lance said as he saw
exactly what I was looking at.

"Well, let's try pushing one of them." Chris suggested.

"But which button should we push?" I asked.

	"You pick babe." Lance said.

"Yeah. We trust you Lee go ahead." Chris said.

"Why me?" I asked as I walked to the panel of buttons. There were
symbols on the buttons...one was a question mark, and I thought that might
be information. So I pressed the button.

To our surprise, the door to the stairs opened up, and where there
was an endless stairwell before...now there was an information booth.
There were monitors and signs telling about the different floors of the
building and what their purpose was. I made sure to print out a map of the
building. It would no doubt come in handy.

"Look at this floor!" Chris pointed.

"Oh my God! It's strip club for gay men." Lance said looking at
it.

"And on this floor is a chapel for same sex marriages." I said
pointing to another information sign.

"What is this the gay capitol building?" Chris asked.

	"Actually...it is." I said.

"What do you mean?" Lance asked.

"Read the sign up there." I said pointing at the biggest sign in
the middle.

The National building of gay resources and entertainment: Founded in 2030

"Wow, so this is the place for guys like us to chill." Lance said
smiling at me.

"I guess so. Chris I hope this doesn't put you out." I said
smiling at him.

"Um...no. It doesn't bother me." Chris said...almost blushing.

"That's good. I guess things must be better for gay people in this
time period, and we'll live to see this one." Lance said.

"Yeah. I wonder if you came out?" I asked.

"I don't know. I've never really thought about it." Lance said.

"Come on you guys. Let's go check out this floor. If the other
guys were in this building I think they would be here." Chris said
pointing out the dance floor. I thought it was a good place to start
looking.

"So which button do I push?" Chris asked.

"The one shaped like a tap shoe." I said looking at the map.

With one click, the door quickly opened and we were off to boogie-.

"Weren't we just dancing last night?" I asked Lance as we freely
marched out to the floor.

"Yeah, but we are used to dancing every night." Lance said
smiling.

"Yeah, I'm going to look around for the other guys... Um I doubt
our watches are right, but we'll meet back in about an hour at the roof."
Chris told us.

After that he took off one direction, and Lance and I danced
another. It was nice to have Lance to myself...while it lasted. Lance's
looks were distracting quite a few people on the dance floor. Before long
people were asking to cut in and after the third dance I headed for a
table. I left Lance dancing with some blonde guy. I wasn't worried about
Lance finding someone else, and I really wanted to look for the other guys.

Now I was the first time I had truly been alone for days, and I
must say it was a little bit of a relief. I mean I love Lance and the
guys...but I do need time to think occasionally. The chairs at the place
were actually stools, but they were comfortable enough I suppose. >From
where I was setting I could still look for the guys, as the crowd shuffled
through.

As I scanned the crowd I did manage to take sight of Chris once
again. He must have seen me too, cause he started walking towards the
table.

"Hey, I saw you setting alone and thought I'd check on you.
Everything okay?" Chris asked.

"I'm fine. Just wanted to set for a minute. It's great that they
finally figured out that music doesn't have to be ear bleeding loud for
people to dance." I commented on the fact we could actually hear ourselves
talk.

"Yeah, took long enough though." Chris laughed.

"So have you seen any of the other guys?" I asked.

"Not yet, but look how big this place is. We could look for days
and not find them." Chris told me.

"That's true. But I guess maybe if we found what we are looking
for, we'd all wind up back at the van wouldn't we?" I asked.

"That's probably true. Maybe we should look for the next jewel,
not the guys?" Chris asked.

"I'm just going to keep my eyes peeled for both I guess. So are
you feeling homesick yet?" I asked him.

"I am not really that homesick. I mean we wouldn't be home right
now anyway... We have been on tour you know." Chris pointed out.

"Yeah, that's right. I just thought something might be bugging
you. You looked a little down earlier." I commented.

"Oh, don't worry about that. I just..." Chris started.

"Go ahead, you can tell me." I encouraged.

"It's just I wish I had a relationship like you and Lance have. I
get really lonely on these tours, and now on this trip." Chris told me.

"Oh okay. I can understand that. I'm sure you'll find a girl soon
enough." I told him.

"Well, I already found someone...actually. It's just..." He
started again.

	"What?" I asked.

"He doesn't know I like him." Chris said.

"Oh, another gay Nsync member?" I asked somewhat amused.

"I'm not sure. I'm not really attracted to most guys, but I really
love this one." Chris told me.

"Go on tell me more. I mean I can keep a secret." I told him.

"It...It's Joey. I love him." Chris said with a frown.

"Really? I am not too surprised. You both were so happy when you
were reunited last week...or whatever." I said.

"Yeah, I was very glad to have him back. But like I said...he
doesn't know how I feel about him. He just thinks we are best friends."
Chris told me.

"Why don't you tell him how you feel?" I asked.

	"I don't know...it just seems like there's never a good time for
it. I mean we have known each other for years, and he's never once talked
about being gay...or anything." Chris said.

"Maybe he's afraid to bring it up like you?" I sort of suggested.

"No, I don't think so. Joey doesn't seem to be afraid to tell me
anything." Chris said.

"If you don't tell him...you'll never know what might be." I told
him.

"I guess I just needed someone to talk it over with first." Chris
said. We shared a hug, and soon I realized that the hour was almost up.
After I motioned to my watch, we started walking towards the exit.

"There you guys are." Lance said as we exited out onto the roof.

"Yeah, did you find any of them?" Chris asked.

"No, did you see anyone?" Lance asked us?

	"I haven't seen anyone." I told him.

Knowing that floor hoping for Nsync members and Jerry...was
probably not the best idea, I looked at the map and found something that
might be useful.

"You guys look at this." I said pointing at a floor.

	"Precious jewels collection." Lance read.

"What does that have to do with the theme of this building?" Chris
asked.

"Obviously you don't know much about drag queens...they love
jewelry!" I told him.

"Okay...so do really think it'll be that easy to find the next
jewel?" Lance asked.

"I have no idea...but it beats looking for the guys in this huge
ass building." I told him.

So it was agreed that we would go to the jewel floor to look
around. Things looked quite nice there too. I was quite impressed by the
looks of some of the huge diamonds, emeralds, and other precious stones.
Lance and I were looking at some rings in a display when Lance pointed out
one. It had two L's engraved on it, and in the middle was a healthy
looking diamond. I really liked it, and Lance seemed to as well.

"What do you think the L's stand for?" I asked him.

	"Lance and Lee?" Lance suggested.

	"That's a lovely thought." I said blushing.

"Someday love." Lance said kissing me softly.

As we walked away...I suddenly had a longing for that ring. As
dumb as it might sound, it felt like it didn't belong there. But I didn't
want to set off some alarm.

"You guys, I got it!" Chris shouted from across the room.

We walked over to see that Chris was holding a blue jewel. I guess
we lucked out again...but then again it seems like we always wind up at the
right place at the right time.

	"Where was it?" Lance asked.

"It was behind a box of ring pops...I just happen to pick up the
box, and there it was." He said pointing at a display that had candy, fake
jewels, and other such souvenirs.

"Well...let's see if the thing will take us to the next stop." I
suggested.

"What about the others?" Lance asked.

"Joey and I think that they'll be transported the same time we
are." I told him.

"I hope your right." Lance said worried.

With a little bit of worry, and a lot of courage...Chris held up
his jewel, and Lance and I held up ours. The second they
touched...poof...there we went.

We soon arrived at the van, and to our relief there was the others.
And we weren't taking any risks this time! We quickly joined hands with
each other...as the transportation through time began anew. I never knew
exactly how we held hands after we no longer had hands...but the connection
was still there somehow.

We rematerialized in a `57 Chevy. Or at least that's what kind of
car someone said it was...I was okay with that...the scary part was it was
already moving. Luckily Jerry was at the driver's seat, and managed to
keep his cool. After almost swerving off the road, he managed to get
complete control back. How and the world was the car moving before we got
there? I didn't know then, and probably never will know. But we were on a
road to no where, by the looks of it. There was literally nothing on the
sides of the road, but cactuses and sand. I guessed that we were probably
in Arizona or some dessert area.

"Um, does this thing have air?" Justin asked trying to fan himself
with his hands.

"I think so, but it's not going to do us much good." Jerry said.

"Why's that?" Joey asked from the back.

"Because we are almost out of gas!" He said as the car started to
putter. Great we are in the middle of a dessert without gas! Of all the
fun things we have been through. This has to be right up there!

"Great, now what do we do?" Justin asked as Jerry pulled the car
over to the side of the road, with the last of the coasting power.

"I have no idea, but we better find some shade...or a gas
station...or anything." Lance suggested as he opened the door next to him.
I pilled out behind him, and soon the others went out their nearest doors.

"I don't guess anyone brought any water?" I asked...Which of
course didn't go over too well.

"Yeah...I always bring a case of bottle water when I go time
traveling." Joey joked.

We started walking down the road, and lord only knows where we
would end up. One thing was for sure; it was really freaking hot! And with
us all lacking any supplies, save for our changes of clothes...we weren't
going to last long out here.
