One.

Early the next day, Ronan Keating arrived in London,
flying in from Kingston.
He had promised the lads that he would help them
prepare for their first major
UK concert, which meant that he had to cut his
luxurious Caribbean holiday short.
But truth be told, he would much rather sacrifice his
social life, if it ever
obstructed his devotion to the group.
He rested for a mere two hours before the workaholic
side of his nature kicked in.
He contacted all five members of the group; to inform
them of his arrival and remind
them of the preparatory meeting scheduled for that
evening.
When he completed the round of calls, he pulled up a
chair to the window of his 19th
floor suite, and peered outside. A herd of
enthusiastic photographers lined the entrance
to the hotel, various complex devices dangling down
their necks.
'What a waste of talent!' he thought, remembering his
childhood dream of becoming a
photographer. A brief smile cornered his thin lips as
he delved deeper into his nostalgic
thoughts. He remembered the first time he attempted to
sing, at a karaoke in his junior
school. No one could have possibly contemplated the
idea of that shy, slightly overweight
kid, with a creaky voice becoming the lead singer of a
very successful boyband.
He was bought back to the here and now, startled by
the high pitched ringing of his new
cell phone.
"Hello" he said, recovering himself.
"Hi, Ro, Its me, Nicky"
"What's up?"
Nicky hesitated, cleared his throat and stuttered.
"Are you alright?" asked Ronan, frowning with concern.
"Yeah...umm, I need to talk to you, right now" Nicky
blurted.
"Can't it wait for tonight?" Ronan asked, unsettled by
the edgy tone in Nicky's voice.
"No, it's important" Nicky replied, seriously.
"Okay, come over now" he told Nicky the name of the
hotel and his suite number, before
cancelling the call.

Half an hour later, Nicky walked towards Ronan's
suite, dressed in black.
His beautiful face marred with a tense expression, he
was nervous about his planned
heart to heart with Ronan, but at the same time he was
quite certain that Ronan was the
best person to talk to.
He walked along the corridor, lost in thought, failing
to notice the two young female
fans waving at his ecstatically. As he reached Ronan's
room, he stood still for a moment,
making sure that this is exactly what he wanted to do.

After a few minutes of pondering he reached out and
pressed the bell.
Ronan opened the large pine door almost immediately
and invited Nicky inside.
"Hey Ro how are you man?" asked Nicky, trying his best
to hide his nerves.
"Good" replied Ro, nodding his head. He offered him a
drink, but Nicky refused.
"I need to talk to you"
"Yeah, go ahead, it sounded important," said Ronan,
seating himself opposite Nicky.
"It sure is" whispered Nicky nervously, before falling
silent.
Ronan studied the expression on Nicky's face; the
feint lines of an upcoming frown enhanced
his already magnificent beauty to give him an
altogether startling look.
Ronan waited a few moments longer, before breaking the
silence.
"What's the matter?" he asked seriously, a frown
appearing on his face.
Nicky looked up at him opened his mouth, but somehow
the words eluded him, and all that came
out was a soft moan. Ronan's face filled with concern
as he saw two tears roll down Nicky's
lowered face.
"Nicky! What's wrong, tell me will you?" he pleaded.
Nicky sniffed, and wiped the tears. 'Shit' he thought
'I didn't want to cry'.
"Nicky?"
"Ro, I'm sorry" Nicky started, steadying himself "I,
umm I want to go back to Ireland"
"You're kidding, right?"
Nicky shook his head; he stood up and walked over to
the window. Ronan watched him in total
shock, he couldn't believe that Nicky was homesick.
"Why do you want to go back?" he asked, trying not to
get hysterical.
Nicky stayed quiet for a few moments, thinking. "I
don't think I can be a part of Westlife
anymore," he said.
"What? Why not?" Ronan shouted, getting louder.
"I can't say"
Ronan walked over towards Nicky, trying to steady
himself. He reached out squeezed his
shoulder. "Come on, Nicky, I'll sort it out"
Nicky looked back at him "I don't think it's something
that you can sort out, I don't
think anyone can sort it out" he said.
Ronan watched him, confused. He had no idea what Nicky
was talking about.
"Try me" he said softly, trying to assure Nicky.
"I'm in love with Kian, and I don't think I can work
with him anymore" Nicky blurted out.
Ronan's look of shock lasted for a mere few seconds
before he replaced it with a more
understanding expression. He gave Nicky a quick hug
for comfort, before ordering him to take
a seat.
"Does anyone else know about this?" asked Ronan trying
to put everything in perspective.
Nicky shook his head.
"Okay, firstly I understand that this is hard for you,
but it is something you'll have to
deal with. Love can be a difficult thing, especially
if it's unrequited. But running away f
rom it won't help, you'll have to learn to deal with
the situation and be strong. I'm not saying
forget about your feelings for Kian, because that
won't help, they don't just go away.
But you'll have to rise above that and show the world
that everything is okay, and maybe
when you get the chance, you'll have to try to talk to
Kian. But leaving just like that will
not help."
Nicky shook his head, dismissing everything Ronan just
said.
"I can't, how can I act normal, when everything has
changed?" he asked.
Ronan thought about that for a moment before replying
with a question of his own.
"How long have you felt this way?" he asked.
Nicky shrugged "I've always had feelings for Kian,
it's just now they are too strong to ignore"
he answered clearly, keeping his voice steady.
"Are you sure it's love?" Ronan asked prying further
in order to give some reasonable advice
to Nicky.
"Yes" Nicky replied without hesitating. "I think about
him all the time, whenever I'm alone,
I think about how I would like to hold him and what we
would talk about if we were together.
Sometimes when buying clothes for myself, I imagine
how Kian would react to them, would he like
them?... Every time I'm around him, my heart begins to
beat faster and I can't concentrate on
anything else." Nicky sighed, summing up his feelings
openly for the first time.
"I have to leave, I don't think I can handle it
anymore" he added.
"If you go, the whole group will fall apart" said
Ronan, trying to make Nicky see some
sense "I thought the group meant a lot to you".
Nicky sighed as Ronan's guilt trip took effect. "It
still means a lot to me"
"Then why leave? Why are you sacrificing one love for
the other? You'll end up with nothing,"
said Ronan, not meaning it to come out as harshly as
it did.
Nicky stayed quiet, he had no idea what he wanted, he
knew Ronan was right but he couldn't
bare the thought of facing Kian every day, without
being able to touch him.
"Ronan, what shall I do?" he asked finally, in
despair.
"Stay and fight your feelings for Kian, don't
jeopardise your career"
After fighting with his thoughts for some time, Nicky
finally nodded in agreement
"Okay" he said, hoping to god, that he could forget
about Kian and concentrate on the band.
But deep down he knew that it was impossible to forget
about him.

Shane kissed Nicky lightly on the lips, while
caressing his soft neck with his fingertips.
Nicky kissed him back, sliding his hands to the back
of Shane's neck and pulling him closer,
he moved his lips from Shane's mouth down to his chin,
and then to his neck, kissing his
Adam's apple in such a tender way that Shane couldn't
help but moan softly.
"Nicky" he whispered, his eyes closed. "I love you"
Nicky smiled stroking the outline of Shane's lips with
his smooth fingers.
"I love you too," he said, staring lovingly into
Shane's eyes.
Shane opened his eyes, startled by a loud noise. He
looked around only half expecting to
find Nicky lying next to him. But of course Nicky
wasn't there...Nicky would never be there!
