Episode 1: Something Wicca This Way Comes... Again Part II

Lyla reached over into another musty box, and pulled our a large but thin
piece of ancient parchment. Lucy looked over: "How come we didn't know any
of this in our attic?"

Lyla rolled her eyes, unraveling it on her lap. On it was a family tree,
large and proliferated. "This is the Halliwell family tree... and recently,
it's been updated."

Lex looked craned his head over Lyla's shoulder to get a better view. There
were three large branches. The middle was labeled the Halliwells, and the
left one was labeled the LeFleurs. But the branch on the right was
obviously familiar: the Russels. "Why is our family on it?"

"Because we're related to them..." Lucy passed her hand over the family
tree. The three branches came from a common ancesteral pair: David Stillman
and Helena Warren. She worked her way down, to their three daughters:
Laura, Grace, and Brianna. Each of them had a daughter: Phoebe Bowen,
Patience Baxter, and Pearl Russel respectively. She pointed to
Pearl. "That's our great grandma." Lucy turned to Lyla, now pointing at
Pearl Russel's spouce: someone only known as Anton. "Who's this?"

Lyla looked up at Lucy. There was a rather strange silence. Lex inserted
his head closer, now pointing to their daughter, Lydia Russel, and her
spouse, simply Lucas. "And there's grandma. Why don't any of their husbands
have last names? Only dad does."

There was again more silence. Lyla spoke a bit cryptically, dodging both of
their questions. "The point is, we're related to the Halliwells. Our common
ancestors, the Warrens, were destined to eventually birth the Charmed Ones
over the centuries."

"The Halliwell daughters were the first to take on that mantle. But since
we're part of the Warren line, we have the potential to be the Charmed Ones
as well."

"So basically-" Lucy interjected. "-as long as there's a pair of three
siblings somewhere in the Warren line, they could be the Charmed Ones."
Lyla nodded, anticipating the coming storm of intellectual
probes. "Okay... so what about Laura, Grace, and Brianna?"

Lyla smiled. "They were the Charmed Ones. A long time ago. We've all tended
to forget that."

"Alright." She now moved onto the other branch, the LeFleurs. "There are
three siblings here too-"

Lyla cut her off, abruptly and conspicuously rolling up the family tree
again. "The LeFleurs are another issue that we'll talk about later. Right
now, I should probably tell you about The Seven."

"Yes, please babble about the people trying to kill us. Call me crazy, but
that would help more than geneology right now."

Lyla shot her anothre glare. "First of all, they're not people." Lyla
didn't stand up, merely reaching her arm behind the couch and carelessly
throwing the family tree behind them. "They're demons. Denizens of the
Underworld, who only want to kill the innocent and take over our
world. See, the Halliwells were so close..." she accentuated the last two
words by measuring out a centimeter with her fingers. "...to dwindling the
demonic threat to nothing. They had defeated the Triad, the last great
threat of the Underworld, and Piper's children were growing to be the most
powerful magical sources in the world."

"But fairly recently, there was a disturbance. The Halliwells and I
discovered that demons were banding together for a last ditch attempt to
survive. We were arrogant enough to think that they would be no problem to
defeat: and obviously, we were wrong."

"Honestly, I don't know what they did. But whatever they it was, it
succeeded in killing the Halliwells."

Lex lifted his head from her shoulder. "Hey, by the way. What happened to
their husbands and kids?"

Lyla didn't turn to face him. "Taken. The Seven took them all, except for
Piper's daughter. Lex, I believe you met her." Lex's eyes widened. "Oh,
she's safe. As for everyone else... they're still alive, but I don't know
what the Seven has done to them."

She finally got up, and Lex briefly frowned at the loss of warmth. Lucy,
used to knowing what Lex was feeling, automatically sat down in Lyla's
place and let Lex lean on her. Lyla mustered the Book of Shadows, and
turned to a certain place that she seemed quite familiar with. She gave the
book to Lucy, who shared it with Lex. "We know that the Seven is made of
seven elite demonic faction leaders."

Lucy gave an amazingly sarcastic eyebrow raise. "Seven demons. That's
surprising."

"...Anyway, we still don't know who they all are. But the sisters and I
wrote down all that we could figure out about them."

The first page was adorned with a title: "The Seven." Lucy turned the page,
beholding an inken drawing of the intimidating woman who had just recently
knocked her into the cabinet. "Amy. A powerful demon who is said to be the
daughter of Zira. She is the leader of Zira's Sisterhood, an all-female
demon organization that is adept in brutal en masse attacks. She has
amazing strength, and the ability to erect a force-field of sorts that
protects her from any harm. No known vanquish."

The next page depicted an elderly man, with a long flowing beard and deep
set black eyes. He was dressed in a shimmering grey robe, and Lex was
surprised to see a tall Death-like scythe in his hand. "Biblios. The leader
of the Libris, demons whose job it is to prevent the knowledge of demons
from spreading. He and the Libris control a vast information archive of
history and science, which they hoard completely to themselves. This
enclave of books lets them lend an extra lift of knowledge to the Seven."

Lucy flipped the page, and now they beheld a pale, slim man with
translucent blonde hair and a simple white robe. His high cheeks and sickly
look tended to remind Lex of an anorexic Skeletor. Two slight but beautiful
women also dressed in white stood behind him, each holding a crystal
ball. "Chrysle. A demon who, with his assistants, can instaneously receive
visions and premonitions. He is the leader of Cassandra's Eyes, the demonic
order of seers and oracles who collectively monitor the present, past, and
future. He and his order tend to not participate in battle often,
preferring to provide information to the rest of the Seven instead."

Lyla sighed. "That's all we got."

Lex shook his head, a bit panicked. "They're so powerful... Are we even
safe? This Chrysle person could be watching us right now!"

"That, Lex, is what that blessing spell was for." Lyla smiled, obviously
satisfied with herself. "The sisters and I wrote it, just in case. It'll
protect us from any large-numbered demonic attacks. I'm pretty sure we'll
be safe from the Seven themselves too." There was a sudden overpowering
feeling of stasis: of sadness, of indolence. Lyla's smile dropped, seeing
Lucy and Lex simply staring at the ground. "What's wrong?"

Lucy decided to respond, barely looking Lyla in the eye. "What's the point
of all this? I mean, what can we do? This is... so pointless." she slowly
shook her head. "So what? We're witches. They're demons. What the hell? How
can you expect us to just take it like it's nothing?"

"Lucy, this is more important than *everything*. Including all your
miniscule, unavailing, impudent sarcasm, and your even more miniscule
life." Lucy was caught aghast at Lyla's sudden cutting tone. "This universe
is held together by a cosmic balance between good and evil, and couldn't
care *less* about ANY of our tiny, useless lives."

"But the scales are tipping. Evil is winning, and we-" Lyla punctuated the
word by pointing at herself. "-are the only ones who can tip it back. So if
you want to have the only cosmic opportunity to play `good guy,' then go
along with it, and don't ask questions. Or if you want, keep up with the
Little Miss Cynic asshole comments, and I'll do it alone."

Lex felt himself becoming scared, shrinking away from Lucy and into the
couch. Lucy reached over, and held him a little tighter. She was obviously
shocked as well, and took the next few moments to suspend a glare between
herself and Lyla. "How dare you!"

"Are you even listening to what I'm-"

"Stop it!" Lyla and Lucy stopped their rabble. Lex had torn himself from
Lucy, and was looking back and forth between both Lyla and Lucy. They both
looked sympathetic, but only to Lex. "This is ridiculous! Ever since Lyla
told us, all you two have been doing is taking shots at each other. Didn't
the ghosts say that we have a bond? Something beyond brothers and sisters?"
Lyla looked ashamed, but Lucy just seemed curious. Lex felt himself tearing
up a little, but wiped his eyes before anything happened. "This isn't
right..."

Lyla swallowed. She now came forward, sitting onto the couch with Lucy and
Lex. There was an unsettled silence between the three of them, until Lex
spoke again, his voice cracked and a little quiet. "Please... say this
won't change anything between us."

Lucy looked up at Lyla, a bit helpless for once. Lyla smiled. "...never."

There was another silence, but it was more contemplative this time. Lucy
reached over a little closer and stroked Lex's hair; Lyla patted Lucy's
knee. It was moments like this they cherished.

"So what *does* this mean?" Lex finally asked.

Lyla sighed. "Well..." she began. "We'll probably be attacked by demons
quite regularly, so stay on your toes. But hey; we have super powers!" she
laughed, and even Lex and Lyla couldn't help but share in her
enthusiasm. "Seriously! We need to practice our powers, hone our
skills... and I have a little bit more experience with the first sisters,
so I'll help you guys along. By the time we're done, we'll be helping the
innocent and kicking *ass*."

Lucy laughed out loud from her sister's ridiculous rhetoric, and Lex joined
her. They looked out the window in near perfect unison; the sun had slipped
below the horizon, and night had taken over. The silence that hung over
them was no longer one of sadness. This time, it was hope. It was wonder of
something new. This would be the beginning of something big.

Thanks for getting this far!

Yes! Indeed, it is part II. And again... I am guilty of wriitng something
then being incredibly lazy in uploading it. Sorry! Thank you for reading
this story, and you would probably be happy to know that the boring
"let's-get-to-know-the-characters" exposition part is now over. Character
development? Who needs it! Haha, no, I'm joking, I love that stuff.

By the way, to make things slightly less confusing, along the course of the
story I will upload a family tree and character profiles. Because I have a
lot of fun being obsessive :D.

Again, Thanks!
