Chapter 1: A New Beginning in the Lights of Fame

I stare out the window as the plane beings its descent into New
York. I let out a deep sigh as I remember that this was a new beginning, a
new life. I had earned a full-ride scholarship to New York University and I
was really thrilled. I hadn't wanted to ask my parents for money to go to
college and since I was getting a scholarship, there was no need for me to
ask them. You see, I had grown up without knowing the meaning of love
really; both of my parents worked 14-hours shifts as both were doctors and
they came home when I was asleep and left before I got up. I rarely ever
saw them, so I grew up knowing only the affection of my friends and my
maid.

My friends though turned against me when I told them I was gay.
With that one word, ten years of our friendship flew out the window. Sure,
no one gave me any trouble for it because they knew better. I was the
karate champion under our region and could easily take on people twice my
size without breaking the slightest sweat. Miriam, our maid, always stayed
with me though. Whenever I would cry myself to bed, she was always there,
often crying with me. To this day, I still call her madre. My parents
eventually found out that I was gay and they were furious. They kicked me
out of the house but they knew they had to care for me. It would have been
bad for the family name if they had just thrown me out. True, it was
already bad that I was gay, but then again, it was better than their
friends finding out that they had thrown me out, because their friends had
really taken on a liking to me, and most still liked me even though they
knew I was gay. One even came to talk to me one day, and he told me that if
I ever needed any help with anything, to call him.

I called him, Calvert, countless times and he helped me though each
one. He was the only one that knew that my parents hated me, for everyone
else thought they still cared for me because when we were in public, they
were all so loving to me. I only acted the part because I didn't want their
careers to go down the drain. I mean, they hated me but that didn't mean I
hated them too, I still loved them because they were my parents. They just
never saw it. When I entered high school, I kept training until I became
one of the best karate students in the nation. I was to go to the world
tournament when I turned eighteen and I couldn't wait. Odd as it may seem,
I'm not eighteen yet since I had skipped two grades, so I was still sixteen
and on my way to college. But that was only half of it. The other half of
me loved to sing and dance. And I practiced that every night. No one except
madre heard me sing. I never sang to anyone except her, it was the one
thing that no one could take from me. No one. Madre told me that I would be
great, that I would become a great singer one day. She always told me that
I would be great, but I always wondered. But right before I left for
college, she made me promise. She made me promise that I would never let
any one stop me from my dreams, and that at least once, I would sing for a
group of people. She wouldn't let me leave until I told her yes, so I had
no choice.

I'm snapped back to reality as I hear the sign belt noise ding and
the symbol light up. Over the intercom, they inform us that we would be
landing in about ten minutes. Suddenly, my stomach was filled with
butterflies. The young girl sitting next to me grasps her mom tight and I
smile.

"Mom, are we nearly there?" she asks in a frightened voice.

"Of course honey. We're almost there. Everything is going to be
ok." A jinx, that's all I have to say for that for right after those words
left her mouth, the airplane started to shake terribly. The intercom came
over once more and they informed us that we were on the edge of a coming
storm and we would need to pull back up. Try as they did, the higher we
went, the stronger the turbulence seemed to get. The girl sitting next to
me started to bawl her eyes out. I felt very sorry for her but I wondered
what I could do. The mother tried in vain to keep her clam but when her own
voice reflected anxiety, how could it soothe the child's fears? All around
me in that airplane, people were getting worried, the elderly sniffling,
the young children crying, the parents trying to calm them down. The air
hostesses were having a ball trying to keep everything calm.

"Mommy, sing me a song. Please?" It broke my heart when I heard her
small voice; it was in so much fear. "Mommy, pwease, sing me a song." The
mother only shook her head as she herself started to cry and pulled her
daughter close to her. I looked down into my lap and found my CD
player. Music, the one thing that calmed my nerves. Just maybe, it would do
the trick. I flagged by an air hostess and she looked at me desperately. I
gave her the CD and told her to put it over the intercom, track four. She
looked at me questioningly and I merely whispered to her that it would calm
the people down. She smiled at me thankfully and rushed to put it in.

The soft music started up and closed my eyes and took a deep
breath, might as well fulfill my promise to madre right now, right here.

Oh, thinking about all our younger years

There was only you and me

We were young and wild and free

Now nothing can take you away from me

We've been down that road before

But that's over now

You keep me coming back for more

I kept my voice steady as the emotions inside me wanted to break
out. I could feel everyone's eyes on me as I sang along. The girl next had
stopped crying to look at me and her mother was staring at me, unsaid
feelings of thanks emitting from her eyes.

Baby, you're all that I want

When you're lying here in my arms,

I'm finding it hard to believe

We're in heaven

And love is all that I need,

And I found it there in your heart

It isn't too hard to see

We're in heaven

Tears slowly began to leak out of my eyes as the song started to
take toll on me. This was the madre's favorite song and thus, the song I
choose to calm the nerves of the people on this plane down. Madre always
told me that the song was so peaceful and soothing, and my voice only
emphasized it.

Oh, once in your life you find someone

Who will turn your world around

Pick you up when your feeling down

Now nothing could change what you mean to me

There's a lot that I could say

But just hold me now

Cause our love will light the way

Almost everyone at this point had stopped crying and some even
started humming along. My plan was working, the tension had been broken and
some had even forgotten the turbulence outside. Speaking of it, the
turbulence was gone and I once more felt the plane descending.

Baby you're all that I want

When you're lying here in my arms,

I'm finding it hard to believe

We're in heaven

And love is all that I need,

And I found it there in your heart

It isn't too hard to see

We're in heaven

While I was singing, the plane was definitely descending but not
many, if any at all, seemed to notice this fact as most had closed their
eyes. I wiped my moist eyes and the remaining tears on my cheek as I though
back happily to madre. I really do hope she is ok.

I've been waiting for so long

For something to arrive

For love to come along

Now our dreams are coming true

Through the good times and the bad

I'll be standing there by you

As the song was coming to a close, I felt the plane touch down and
the friction of the plane was felt although the gentle humming as the plane
slowed down was the only thing heard as the music was blotting around the
screeching of the wind as it came to an end.

Baby you're all that I want

When you're lying here in my arms

I'm finding it hard to believe

We're in heaven

And love is all that I need,

And I found it there in your heart

It isn't too hard to see

We're in heaven

Oh, Oh

Oh, Oh

We're in heaven

As the song finished, I heard a chorus of claps and many wows. The
intercom once more came alive as the pilot announced our safe landing and
apologies for the turbulence experienced earlier. As everyone passed where
I was by, they thanked me and shook my hand. The mother held out her hand
to me and gave me a firm handshake.

"Young man, I do not know your name nor even your age nor your
destination. But whatever it is, never give up your singing. It is
beautiful, not at all like the music I hear nowadays. You music is pure and
real, touching the very hearts and emotions. Never give that up, no matter
what you hear. You helped my daughter and I in ways I cannot even start to
thank you for. Not only that, but you helped everyone else on this
place. Thank you." She once more gave me a handshake and surprisingly
pulled me into a hug. It had been so long since I felt a hug from someone
other than madre. It was comforting and I gratefully returned it. With that
accomplished, she left and I stood up. The air hostess came up to me and
handed me back my CD.

"Mr. Kratos, our pilot would like to talk to you," she said with a
reassuring smile. I smiled back and headed up to the cockpit to find the
pilot and co-pilot standing there.

"Mr. Kratos, I don't know how to thank you. You kept these people
calm and sane at a crucial time when even our attendants were having a
difficult time. On behalf of American Airlines, we thank you."

"It was my pleasure, sir." I smiled shyly and headed off to pick up
my luggage. After about forty-five horrible minutes of patiently going
through the airport, I flagged down a cab and headed off the college. My
new life.

 **************************************************

I entered the door and quickly located the reception desk and a
huge waiting line. Just my luck, I grumpily trudge my luggage which
consists of my backpack and my one suitcase to the end of the line. I
overhear the girl ahead of me talking.

"Did you hear? The new club opened up yesterday and their looking
for bartenders. They said the already had three ready, but were looking for
another one." She finished excitedly.

"What club?" asked the other girl. At that precise moment, someone
bumped into me and we both went tumbling to the ground and I never heard
the girl finish. I found myself staring at a very beautiful girl.

"Oh, I'm so sorry. Are you ok?" She helped me quickly until a smile
broke out on her face. "My name's Katherine, Kathy for short, but my
friends call me Kat."

"So which one should I call you?" I smiled widely as I let her take
my hand in a handshake.

"Kat will do. And yours? Or should I just call you Angel?" I
laughed loudly at that and she giggled.

"My name is Phobeus." Phobeus Kallias Kratos to be precise. And I'm
very proud of that name. It's the name of my grandparents and although they
died before I go to know them, madre told me they were wonderful people and
they would have been proud of me. In all actuality, and in Greek, my name
has a very significant meaning. Broken up, it means purity, beauty, and
power, but combined, madre told me that my grandparents meant it to mean, a
beautiful and pure power. Corny? Maybe. Mine? Oh yes.

"Phobeus? That's such a wicked name." I raised my eyebrows at her
choice of terms. One for the fact that I had never heard a girl use the
term wicked, and the irony of comparing Phobeus, which meant pure, to
wicked. "What? Can't a girl say wicked?" I merely laughed and shook my head
no.

"Well of course you can. But that's not why I'm laughing, well not
the only reason?" She shot me a teasing smirk and asked me to tell her why
then. "No it's corny." She struck her finger into my chest and poked me.

"Look here freshman. I here am a junior and deserve much more
respect." I kept a blank face and bent down on one knee and took her hand
and gently kissed it.

"Is there anything my queen would like?" I asked in the most
sweetest and innocent tone I could muster.

"Ice cream. Quickly, servant." We both cracked up laughing and she
looked at me again and we both burst into another fit of laughs. By now,
everyone was staring at us but I really didn't care. "Actually yes. I was
going to a club tonight to work and the guys there are completely
boring. You my good friend seem like someone who can carry on a
conversation without the words, sex, pussy, and fuck in them. I like you
already." At that I smiled but shook my head.

"Sorry Kat no can do. I'm too young." She looked at me with puzzled
eyes.

"Watcha man too young? Eighteen years is the minimum age."

	"I know. That's why I can't. I'm only sixteen." That obviously
floored her as she looked at me again.

"Now that you mention it, you don't seem eighteen at all. You still
have that irresistible innocence around you. But I'll be, sixteen and in
college. Not just any college but NYU. Damn boy, you must be good."

"Well I don't know about being good, I mean after all, naughty is
what my best friend called me." That sent her laughing again and she smiled
at me, but it was a different sort of smile. I looked into her eyes and I
knew she thought it weird that I would say best friend and figured I didn't
have any parents.

"I'm sorry. About your," I cut her off before she could proceed.

"No, don't be. My parent's aren't dead; they just don't care for
me." I could see once more she was at a loss for words. Something I'm
guessing rarely ever happened to her. "They say the eyes are windows to the
soul, I just know how to read them well." She just shook her head and
smiled back at me.

"Well I'll be damned. Not only are you drop-dead gorgeous and a
charmer, but your talented. My, my, if only you were a few years older." To
that I smirked and answered:

"Oh baby, that ain't the only thing I'm talented in." She looked at
me with shocked eyes before she got my innuendo and once more burst out
laughing.

"Your definitely a keeper." I looked hesitantly at her; the moment
of truth had arrived. Should I tell her? Well, I had always promised to
myself that I would live a truthful and honest life. No one was going to
make me do something I didn't want and I wasn't about to stop being the
real me just because someone wasn't going to like it.

"Kat, I'm gay." Before she could answer, I turned around and walked
up to the now empty registrar's desk. I couldn't bear the expression she
would have on her face, the twisted expression if hate and disgust, couple
with rage. Before I was able to get a few feet, Kat had managed to grab my
arm and twist me around.

"Oh Phobeus, I don't care if your gay. I wouldn't care if you were
asexual, as long as your my friend. Please?" I looked from her hand on my
arm to her eyes and I could see the sincerity in them.

"Do you really want to be my friend? I mean, I'm only sixteen after
all, and if you were to try and have sex with me, it would be illegal." She
laughed again and hugged me tight. Two hugs in a single day? Madre would be
proud.

"You have no idea Phobeus. So what say you lets get you unpacked
and settled in. We'll see what we can do about your age for the club. Oh
and one thing, I'll see if you say the same thing when your in my bed later
this week my dear." This time it was me who laughed. I started to think
that college was going to be great.

"Name?" the boring sound of the registrar met my ears.

"Phobeus Kallias Kratos. ID number 204-9834-29."

"You'll be in room number 44 in building A. Oh and Mr. Kratos, this
came for you in the mail and I was told to give it to you." I looked
skeptically at her and the envelope and recognized the writing. Calvert had
sent me a letter, but why? I quickly opened it up and some keys fell out. I
picked up and continued to read the small letter.

Dear Phobeus,

How are you dear boy? I hope you get this before you get packed in and
everything. Call me afterwards, ok? Just think of this as a graduation gift
that you should have gotten but never did. And I don't accept no for an
answer. Enjoy it dude, and don't break too many hearts. Either with your
looks, personality, voice, or the way you move. But I think you'll do it
anyway. Take care of yourself. You need to head to the correct dealer to
get your car.

Love,

Calvert.

I closed the letter and smiled to myself. Calvert was always close
to me and I knew he would have done something like this. I looked at the
keys and I noticed the BMW logo.

"Looks like someone just got lucky! Lets go pick up the baby
now. I'll drive you there." I could tell by Kat's voice she was
excited. She must have been reading the note over my shoulder, but then
again, I'm not overly tall, but not short either.

"Don't you think we should unpack first?" I added the we in there
hoping she would help. Either she didn't hear or was glad to help because
she just started dragging me to my building. After going outside and
through a maze of paths that I'll need to get readjusted to, we made it
room number 44 in building A. I opened the door and stepped into the
room. It seemed that my roommate hadn't come in yet as everything was
untouched. I decided to talk the half of the room nearest to the balcony,
as we were in the highest part of building A. I set my suitcase down and
opened it. Piles of clothes came out of the thing and I started to hang
them up. Kat would put them on the hanger, and I would hang them up. We
finished about an hour later and the right side of the room looked cozy and
like home to me. Pictures of madre and Calvert were on my desk. My backpack
had found its home underneath the desk whereas all my clothes were in the
closet and my dresser. A simple, blue comforter covered my bed which housed
a contrasting off white bed sheet. The bathroom was rather large,
considering we, my roommate and I, would be sharing it with the adjoining
room. I had already placed all my stuff at a small cabinet in the
bathroom. It was home for now.

"Ready honey. We need to go pick up your car and then go shopping."
At the mention of shopping I looked up at her and gave her the classical
raising of the eyebrows. "Babe, you seriously need new clothes. I'm not
letting you keep your true beauty hidden by those awful sweaters and
horrendous shirts."

"Hey now, those are the things I wore. Be nice to them, they were
nice to me." She just laughed at me.

"That maybe so, but I am taking you to shopping. No questions
asked. And you will but some decent clothes." I just laughed and said
ok. We both headed off to her building, and another maze of sidewalks
ensued until we finally made it to her car, parked outside. It was a nice
Lexus RX-330. I commented and she said that her parents were very
rich. "But that doesn't mean I'm a snob Phobeus." I looked at her and saw
the sincerity of that in her eyes.

"I know Kat. Your eyes betray much." She looked silently back at me
until she unlocked the doors and we both got in. Somehow, she knew the
directions so I just sat back and watched the sight.

	"It's gonna be a wile. It's like a forty-five minute drive. Sit
back and relax. Pop in one of the CDs I have, choose whichever." I looked
through her CD collection and found one that caught my eye. My eyes bulged
when I saw it and I looked up her at in awe. She had my favorite song. I
quickly popped it in and played track eight. When the music started to
blast through the speakers, something just happened to me and I started to
just hum along. Soon enough, when the voice started, so did mine.

Is anybody home in there?

I unexpectedly dropped by your heart

I simply wanted you to hear

The cry of my love's never ending start

Impossibly escaping you

And circumstances never stand a chance

So intrigued by the things you do

Through my eyes I envisioned you

Your love protects my every move

My life swings to your heart beats

My everlasting love is simply deep

In seconds it's been timeless

When I'm with you, time seems to take a rest

No routines ever lay with us

'Cause everything is new, when you're in love

So delighted that you feel the same

You say with me you're never liable to pain

Never love another again

Through my eyes I envisioned you

Your love protects my every move

My life swings to your heart beats

My everlasting love is simply deep

As I lay you in the midst of all gone in creation

As I hold, can only think of you

And you really are so wrong every mobile run

And I never sleep, without an endless dream

Our love is so simple deep

Between you and me!

So simply deep, oohh - ooo

As I opened my eyes as the song came to a rest, I could tell Kat
was staring at me. I looked at her and she was just staring at me, mouth
hanging open. "Quit staring at me. I mean I know I'm the hottest guy on
earth but seriously, keep your eyes on the road. I want to live to see
eighteen." The usual smirk and the sarcastic remark didn't come
back. Although she diverted her eyes back to the road she kept stealing
glances at me.

"So that's what Calvert meant your voice. Do you sing?" she asked
in barely over a whisper.

"No, the only person I sang to was madre, our maid Miriam. Right
before I left, I sang a goodbye song for Calvert. I think that was the
first time I ever saw him cry." I smiled as I though back to the two people
that mattered to me most back at home.

"I can understand why he cried. Your voice, is just,
incredible. It's like, I don't no, just amazing," she uttered after a
while.

"I sing with my heart. That's all. All the songs I sing are
something from my heart." I stared out the window to see the silhouette of
the BMW car dealership.

"I assume you also dance very well?" I looked at her and then
remembered that Calvert had also said the way I move.

"Yes, I also dance well. Sometimes, too well for my own sake." When
I saw the question in them, I continued on: "I get lost in the dancing and
singing sometimes. Like now, I had no idea I was singing along, it just
happened."

"But its so beautiful and pure." It's funny how life throws in its
many ironies. Phobeus, as you know, means pure. "Well, we're here. Hop on
down Angel." I looked at her questioningly and she smiled. "Angel. That's
your new nickname now." At a farther rising of the eyebrows, she continued,
"well, look at you. Your as beautiful as one. Notice I didn't say hot,
because that would serve to degrade you. Second, you have the personality
of one. Third, you sing like one and you probably dance like one too."

"Remind me to come to you for compliments whenever I'm feeling
down." She just gave me her scowl and continued on. We both approached the
customer service. A man in his thirties with a friendly smile came up to
us.

"Hello! What may I do for you?" he asked in a kind tone.

"Well, I'm here to pick up a car. Here are the keys and my name is
Phobeus Kallias Kratos." He took the keys and when he asked me for an ID,
which I presented to him and he smiled up at me.

"Well Mr. Kratos. Your car is in the showroom right now. Mr. Joseph
(Calvert) told us to expect you around this time. He seemed rather adamant
about it, saying that you deserved it." I blush and Kat just giggles until
I jab her in the ribs to which she pouts. I just smirk and proceed on and
suddenly run into a pole and fall on my ass. Kat, naturally, burst into
hysterics. I scowl at her and slowly get up, rubbing my sore ass.

"Are you ok sir?" I look to my side to see our employee.

"Yes, I'm fine. Just not seeing where I'm going, no biggie." Kat
finally stopped laughing and she just came up to me and whispered that I
deserved that for jabbing her. I let out a small chuckle and we proceed on.

"Well Mr. Kratos, here we are." I gawk at the car that he brought
me too. I look at him with silent lips and questioning eyes. "Yes, it's the
brand new 2004 BMW Alpina Roadsetr V8." Kat lets out a squeal of glee as
she rushes to look at it closely. "Well, its your to take Mr. Kratos. All
you have to do is sign on this form right here." I sign my name on the
application after reading what it said and was given back the keys.

"Oh hurry up. Start it up, I wanna see how it moves." I have to
admit, it was funny to see her act like a kid. I mean, even I didn't act
like that and I was five years younger. I hopped in and revved it up. "YAY!
Let's go!" I just laughed and we took off. I dropped her of by her car to
which I started following her to the mall. We arrived about an hour later
at a very large mall. She got out and I hopped out. She pouted and said no
fair and I just smirked at her and locked the car. "Ok. We're going to
start at American Eagle, Aeropostale, and Abercrombie and Fitch. What?" she
looked at my face and could tell by my look that I was surprised. "Oh, I'm
assuming you never wore brand names before huh?" I shook my head, agreeing
with her. "Well, there's always a first time for everything." She literally
dragged me off to go shopping.

At the end of our shopping spree, she had brought none less than
about twenty-five outfits and I was having a hard time holding on to all of
the clothing. To augment the pain of the shopping experience, I had to
practically model every single clothing item for her. Talk about
torture. Right before we were about to leave she went into another shop. I
read the shop's name, Clubs Galore, and I wasn't too excited about
that. She came back with another bag in her hand to which I raised my
eyebrows and she just smiled at me, a tad bit too sweetly for my liking.

"Who is that for?" I asked with none too little accusation in my
voice.

"It's for you tonight." She started walking on without giving me
the bag to look at.

"Tonight? What's tonight?" I asked on a confused note.

"The club. Duh!" She said it as if that was the most retarded
question in the world.

"But, I'm not old enough." I was very curious on why she was so
adamant on taking me.

"Nonsense honey. Angel, watch me work my charm there, ok? But as
for this, you have to wear it. Good?"

"No, not good. I don't even know what it is."

"Well, that's too bad isn't it? Anyway, come on let's go. We need
to get ready. You know the way back, don't you?" After a nod from me, she
continued: "Good, go ahead and get this on. You can't look at it until you
get home. And you have to put it on. No buts or what ifs or anything,
tonight is my night with you and I'm gonna take advantage of it." I raised
my eyebrows in my classical questioning look and she just gave me the look
that said no arguments, kapeesh. "I'll meet you back at your dorm in no
less than two hours, be ready." Before I could argue, she walked out on me
and I followed her to my car. We dumped everything into the backseats and
she kissed me on the cheek and she zoomed off, leaving me standing there in
a daze. I smiled sheepishly and took off to.

I returned to my dorm in record time and got all the bags back to
my room in about three trips. When I started to clean the mess up and hang
them up on hangers, I heard someone enter.

"Oh! Hey! I didn't know you were here. Sorry, I'm a little
late. Whoa! Nice clothes man," I looked up to see a slender and very
attractive man enter. He was built in all the right places, toned but not
overly built. A slender frame of 6'2 fit into his brand name clothes and a
warm smile greeted me on his face. Blue eyes connected with my pale silver
and lavender eyes.

"Hey man. Yeah, a friend decided to take me shopping. I don't think
I knew shopping could be such torture." He laughed a little before he
dragged in his luggage.

"Yo dude, I don't mean to be rude, but how old are you?" he asked
inquisitively in a whispering-sort-of tone.

"Well, I'm only sixteen. I skipped two grades."

"Shit man. That's cool. Well, name's Dex." He held out his hand to
shake which I took readily. He had a very nice and firm handshake and his
arm muscles were taut in the shaking process.

"Nice to meet you, my name is Phobeus." I blush a little as he
stares at me.

"Dude, don't take this the wrong way or anything, but your eyes are
awesome. I've never seen anything like them." I blush more and he just
laughs while I mutter thanks. "Well man, don't let me keep you from
unpacking, I need to do the same thing." I just nodded and we both got busy
to unpack to everything. After thirty minutes, we were both completely done
and I told him I was going to go head off to a shower. I picked up the new
bag that I still hadn't looked at and proceeded to the bathroom. I chunked
my clothes to a pile to the side and proceeded to allow the warm water to
cascade down my body and I thoroughly washed myself over. I reluctantly got
out back to the chill of the room and quickly gelled my hair to let it flop
down over my eyes but still light enough so I could blow them out of the
way. If Kat wanted me to look good, I was going to humor her. I sprayed on
some cologne and unwrapped the bag.

My eyes literally bulged as I saw what she had got me. There would
have been no way in Hell I would have worn these type of clothes before but
now, I had decided to be a new me, so why not? I put the clothes on though
it took me a while to figure out how everything went on. I walked out of
the bathroom fully ready and I called for Dex. He walked in and just,
literally stopped.

"Fuck man, who are you trying to kill?" I just laughed and asked if
anyone had come in or called. Before he could reply, a knock came at the
door and he went to go get it.

"Oh hello. You must be Phobeus' roommate. My name is Kat." She let
herself in and I couldn't help but laugh as Dex's eyes were glued to her
ass. "Damn boy. I knew that would look hot on you but, damn, I outdid
myself." I blushed as her eyes traveled up me. I was dressed in all
red. The top was a silk button-down shirt to which I had left two buttons
on the top and two on the bottom undone which showed off some skin and
muscle and as well, a hint of my black boxers. The ensemble finished of
with loose, cargo pants accentuated by a black, leather shoes as well as a
black, shell choker. My dark brown with dirt blonde highlights nicely
contrasted my clothed appearance.

"Your the one who brought it." I reminded her, in a sweet tone.

"Yep. And glad I did too. Well come on, I'm going to be late. It
was nice meeting you Dex. Under normal circumstances I would have invited
you to join us, but my boss would kill me for trying to get you in too. I
know your eighteen but tonight is Friday and its beer galore, so we're
still cautious about letting eighteen years old." He looked at me and
thought better than to ask and just smiled and said it was no problem. I
smiled and told him bye and he hollered at us to not have too much
fun. "Seems pretty nice, don't you say?"

"Kat, everyone is nice until they get to know the person." She
looked at me with a quizzical expression and just shrugged it of. "So, are
we going in my baby or your junk?" I received a pinch and she led me to my
car. She got to the driver's door and I just laughed and pushed her
aside. She scowled and got on the passenger's side. We sped through the
community as she gave me directions to the club. In no time at all, we made
it there and my eyes bulged, once more, as I saw the line that had already
formed. It wasn't even going to open for the night for another fifteen
minutes.

"This, my friend, is the most popular place in NY now. Welcome, to
Club Fame." She got out and waved for me to follow her to which I eagerly
complied. She led me to the back and through a special door that needed a
card to get through.

"Kathy am I glad to see you. It's already gotten huge outside. Max
and Lylene are already ready to go. Wait, who is this?" It was then that
the middle-aged man noticed me.

"Adam, this is Phobeus. Phobeus, my boss." I shot her a look that
expressed my shock at her working here.

"Kathy, how old is he?" he asked in a serious tone.

"Sixteen and he is staying here with me tonight. Either that, or
your a bartender less." I looked at her with shocked eyes. I mean, this was
the club that everyone would want to be at, and she had a job here. She was
willing to throw it all away just so I could come in!

"Damn you Kathy, you know your too valuable to me for me to fire
you. Ok, he stays, but if the cops come in, I don't care where he has to
hide. Hide him somewhere. And keep him away from the drinks and the crowd
OK?"

"Your the best Adam. Thank you!" she hugged him excitedly and took
a hold of my hand and dragged me out to the actual bar. On the way, I
whispered thanks to Adam and he just shook his head and told me to have
fun. "Max? Lylene? I want you guys to meet someone." A young man and
another young lady came out to meet me. All three of them, were wearing the
same clothing ensemble: black leather pants, a form-fitting wife beater for
Max and a midriff for the other two girls. And the looked damn good in
them. Max had really deep brown eyes and Lylene had pretty blue ones and
both shared flowing, black hair except Max had his spiked.

"Kat, how do you get all the hot ones?" Lylene asked. Max just
stared at me.

"He's not mine Ly. Oh yeah guys, keep this a secret, but he's only
sixteen." Both of them had surprised looks on their faces as the looked at
me again. I was getting a tad bit uncomfortable but I just shook it
off. "And he's not hot. He's beautiful."

"Yeah, he sure is." Max had finally spoken up and his baritone
voice sent shivers up my back.

"Oh yea Angel, this is a mixed club." Oh great, gay guys! Finally,
I might get lucky. But those are probably just well-wished thoughts.

"His name is Angel? I can see why." Ly said in an excited voice.

"Actually, his real name is Phobeus, which means," she looked at me
for help.

	"Pure." I filled in.

"Yeah, pure. And sorry Ly," she shot me another look and I shook my
head to tell her to go on, "he's gay."

"Damn, why are all the good ones gay? Well Angel, if you need a
girl, you know where to find one." I just smiled at her and told her next
Friday was free. Kat cracked up and Max and Ly looked at me with shock
written over their faces. They both slowly smiled and started to laugh with
Kat and me. "I love him already. Why did you have to be gay?"

"Well, because of Kat and Max. I mean Kat here freaked me out so I
started rethinking and Max just made me more sure to be gay." Kat shot me a
death glare and Max blushed furiously while Ly and me laughed our heads
off. Kat came up behind me and started tickling me and I practically fell
onto the floor. Max helped me up and whispered into my ear:

"So do I turn you on?" I traced my hand down his shirt and leaned
into kiss him when I swerved my lips to his ear and whispered:

"You'll have to do better." He just stood there looking at me and I
just backed up to notice Kat and Ly staring at me. "What?"

"An angel, a tease, and a flirt." Kat said nonchalantly, rolling
her eyes.

"Yep. At your service. Wild, kinky, or old fashioned?" That brought
another chorus of laughs from all of us.

We were interrupted by Adam's voice telling us they had opened the
doors. All three of them took three places at the bar, leaving a quarter
left wide open. Kat shot me a look and told me to make myself at home. The
music started up and the people started to pour in. I could tell why it was
so popular; the music was raising the roof, literally. The club was a nice
place with a large bar and two separate dance floors on the top and a huge,
third one in the bottom. Customers started to pour in to the bar and Max,
Ly, and Kat were having a ball keeping everything going. They didn't seem
to be able to get a breather in. Someone pulled up next to me, and smiled
at me.

"Well hello there hot stuff. A Bacardi please." I looked up at him
blankly until I got the fact that he was asking me to serve him. I shot a
glance at Kat and she was too busy and the other two were busy too with a
long line. I said what the heck and got a glass and filled it up. You see,
I had experience with mixing drinks because that's what I had done back at
home, at the doctor parties that were always so boring. I had gotten damn
good too.

"Here you go sir." I smiled sweetly at him and he stuffed a twenty
to me. I stared up at the list to figure out how much change I owed him.

"Keep the change, uh," he seemed to be searching for my name when I
informed him it was Phobeus. "Keep the change Phobeus. Thanks for the
drink, and I hope I get to see you dance tonight." Another five filled in
his place as he left. Adam came in at the precise moment as I had started
to serve all five of them, using all the skills I had learned back at home
to make it look amazing yet simple at the same time. When I turned around
to get some change, I met his eyes and froze.

"Well, I'll be damned. Your not old enough but you can mix drinks
up better than the others. Need a job kid?" He smiled at me nervously.

"I'd love to." I replied, thinking I was going to fall in love
with the music here. Adam quickly got up and hastily shook my hand and said
he'd have my nametag in about fifteen minutes. Adam told me I could keep
the clothes I had on since they looked damn sexy on me and I just
blushed. Kat noticed and whispered to me that when she was talking to
Calvert on the phone earlier that day (I had called him to profusely thank
him for the car), she asked him if I cold mix drinks. He had told her there
was none better than me. I just smiled at her and mouthed thank you. She
smiled and paged the DJ.

"YO Bryan." she yelled at him.

"Kat. I told you, my name DJ Twikster," he smiled sheepishly at me
and our eyes connected. His pale blue eyes met mine and I could see the
question in his eyes, he wanted to know if I was gay or not. I smiled at
him and shrugged my shoulders.

"Bryan, hand me a mike." He looked at her and just tossed her
one. She took and tossed it to me. We both looked at her with questioning
eyes. "Angel, go rock this house babe. You owe me that dance." I looked at
her aghast. There was no way I was dancing. Before I could protest, Bryan
started up.

"Club Fame. Our newest bartender, Angel, would like to give you all
a show, you probably won't forget. Raise the roof up for Angel guys!" A
scream erupted in the club and everyone started to clap. I shot Kat a stare
that would have withered any flower on any day. I muttered something about
killing her and slowly trudged my way to the middle. People had cleared a
path for me in the middle of the bottom dance floor. I looked up and could
see the people up looking down at me. I took a deep sigh and told myself
that if these guys wanted a show, I wasn't about to disappoint them.

"DJ hit me up on Can't Nobody." The crowd went wild and the music
started to pump through the sound system. I took a hold of the of the
microphone and started to sway to the music. The words began:

Trying to let you know what it's all about

I know you wanna leave

So many little games silly people play

Don't act foolishly

I'm so real, so soft to touch

My love my kiss so sweet, glorious

The look on your face

Anyone can see

No one does it like me

I started to dance none too innocently as I started to sway my hips
and let the music's beat take control over me. I could faintly hear the
crowd cheering as I began to twist and jump, all the while keeping in tune
with the music.

Oh no, oh no can't nobody

Do it like me, uh uh oh no

Can't nobody do it like me

Uh uh and get right down to it like me

Uh uh, na na na na na na na na

My voice provided a sweet harmony between the rhythm of the music
and the rhythm of my body. I could feel others dancing very close to me and
their hands on me. I think I lost my shirt somewhere in there and I was
going to be in trouble when I needed to get back home. But right now, my
mind was set on the music on hand.

I knew you'd be the one to come out

Your worth, I need you please to relax

I know I messed up but if you leave me now

Ain't no coming back, no more no me no you

No us no kiss no hug, tell the truth

See I'm the only one that can love you

Babe, you're not that big a fool

I started to grind into the person next to me and I can't even
remember who it was. All I know is they were grinding me back and the crowd
was cheering a whole heck lot louder.

Oh no, oh no can't nobody

Do it like me, uh uh oh no

Can't nobody do it like me

Uh uh and get right down to it like me

Uh uh, na na na na na na na na

Someone had grabbed my free hand and started to really get down
with me. Whoever it was really knew how to dance and the crowd was really
loving it. The sweat was glistening on my chest as the lights flashed over
me. I closed my hands and let the man lead me. His hands were so soft on me
but they felt like fire and they burned into me. He ran his hands over my
chest ever so softly, never doing it in a sexual way, but in a caressing
way as I rounded up to finish the song.

Can't nobody but me

Do the things that I do

To you the things I do

To you

I finally concluded without missing a single beat in my singing or
dancing. The crowd completely wend wild and I head a chorus of whistles and
hoots as I bowed. I was drenched in sweat and was starting to head back to
the bar while the DJ had started up a new song when I felt a tap on my
shoulder. I turned around to see someone hold out my shirt. I took it from
them and started to say thank you when his hand touched me and I felt an
electrical twinge run through, sending shivers coursing through my body. I
brought my eyes up to meet the person and stared back at the most,
beautiful, intense green eyes. When my eyes ventured to dare leave their
staring point, my heart stopped to beat as I realized who this was.
