Subject: dark times for xmen 1

This is the first story I've written for Nifty, and I think it's gonna be a
pretty long one. The usual disclaimers apply, all Xmen are Marvel's
property (I think, if they don't belong to them then I definitely don't
claim them as my own) but if there are ones you haven't heard of then I've
probably created them to flesh this out a bit. Ollie Stark is my own
creation, and I don't claim anything about the sexualities of the other
characters from the Xmen universe, I just make them up here to suit my
story. And lastly, if gay sexual things are illegal where you are, or
you're just plain too young for this (or don't like bad language -
swearing, not the writing hopefully) then I don't really think this is the
place for you anyway. Right, I think that's my ass covered on the legal
side, hope you enjoy...

As Oliver Stark's feet slammed against the tarmac of the pavement, the
ground underfoot shook and cracks appeared in the black surface. "I do NOT
need this today," he said aloud as he strode towards the group of mutants
in front of him. "You really want a piece of me?!" he shouted at the five
teenagers, three of whom he recognised from school, even though they were
in the year below him. `Must be why they're being such cocky little shits'
he thought to himself, almost to where they were standing now. "Right, what
the fuck is so important to get me over here that you were firing fucking
electric bolts at me?"

"Just wanted to get your attention, faggot." The ringleader of the group
spoke for them all. "We've got something to say to you, haven't we boys?"

"Yeah," another one joined in. "We just wanted to offer you the hand of
friendship, you little queer." As the boy extended his hand he flipped it
palm down, and knocked Ollie off his feet, sending him flying a little way
backwards.

"Enough of the `little', boys," Ollie said while climbing back onto his
feet. "I'm at least a foot taller than you lot." He looked around at the
four boys who'd now encircled him, looking more and more threatening while
doing it. "And there was me thinking that with you being mutants and all,
you'd be that little bit more accepting of people around you."

"Not freaks like you, faggot." The ringleader was back on form again. "We
all think you should just piss off back to where you came from." As he
spoke he shot small bolts of lightning at Ollie's feet, making him jump to
one side and becoming more and more annoying.

"So you're playing the big man now in front of your friends, huh? Picking
on someone who's different to you just because he fancies guys? That's real
impressive man; I can see why they look up to you." Sarcasm dripped from
Ollie's words.

The bully was biting at the bait. "It's not only the queer thing,
pervert. We've got power," he said as he made a show of playing with the
electricity he was conjuring up, "And you... don't."

Ollie had had enough of this. So he'd been open about the gay thing since
he moved to this area, and this new school with his mom. It didn't mean
that he didn't have any secrets at all. He was a mutant too, and at times
like this, it sure could come in handy. Just to shake those bullies up a
little bit. Besides, he didn't think he'd have to take them all on. The
three he hadn't seen using any powers probably didn't use them because they
didn't have them, and they hung around with sparky and his friend over
there for the protection they could give. But now it was time to show them
they should pick their battles more carefully...

"You wanna be careful who you think is powerless, I'm thinking I could
probably give you a run for your money." With that, Ollie brought his own
mutant abilities into play. "Be warned boys, this is just a taster." He
picked up a bunch of dry leaves from the wall beside where he was standing,
and while holding them in his left hand concentrated on heating them up
until there was a ball of fire sitting neatly in his palm.

"So you're a mutant too, eh? Just proves," and this with a smirk at just
how witty he wasn't being, "Those damn faggots are getting everywhere these
days." A snigger from the lads behind him, and, "So you can play with
fire. Big deal."

"You ain't seen nothing yet babe," and Ollie raised his right arm so the
palm was of equal height to the other, and as the bullies watched the
moisture in the air cooled down and began to grow as little glinting
icicles hanging on the underside of Ollie's hand. "Now, am I gonna have to
start showing you what I can really do, or are you guys gonna fuck off to
whatever shithole you came from?"

"A little bit of hot and cold and you think you've got us all scared. You
might be a mutant, but I bet you've got no defences against me." One of the
boys who'd been silent since the start had stepped forward. He was someone
Ollie had noticed at school, noticed because he was so damn hot! Dirty,
messed up blond hair, beautiful blue eyes and a body to die for (good thing
the math classrooms looked out over the running track, in summer those boys
just couldn't wait to get their tops off -- and Ollie wasn't complaining!),
this boy had definitely been in more than one of Ollie's bedroom jerk off
fantasies. "I can get inside your head, and I know what you've been
thinking about me," brought Ollie back to reality, "And it makes me sick,
just to look at you now, pervert. I think we should teach you that it's not
nice to think about people like that." One of Ollie's knees went weak as
his mind was hit with a sharp bolt of pain, from the cute blond boy he was
guessing. He tried to get back up to standing and put up a fight, but
another bolt knocked him to his knees. The other boys were closing in now,
and the non-mutants looked like they could do pretty well with their
fists. Ollie attempted to regain control of his powers, but the telepath
was making it impossible, making his mind unstable, taking away the
control. Ollie could feel a build up of power inside him, and he could tell
there was nothing he could do to control it. Just as the first fist was
about to make contact with his stomach, he released everything that had
been building up inside him, the fear and the rage. A circle of flames
appeared and quickly grew, burning the faces of the closest boys and
sending them screaming and running away in pain. The telepath didn't escape
either, and as Ollie slowly and menacingly stood up he noticed the blond
boy frantically batting at the flames on his leg.

"You did NOT want to test me tonight." Ollie spoke slowly but surely, and
the anger in his voice came from a place deep inside that even he didn't
realise was there. "YOU," an extension of one arm and the telekinetic ran
screaming as all of his clothing spontaneously combusted. "And I don't know
where the fuck you think you're going." Ollie extended the other arm and
`sparky' fell, frozen to the floor in a three inch thick block of ice. He
started to cry out, but was silenced quickly when he saw the look of pure
hatred in Ollie's eyes. "I'll give you something to remember us gay boys
by," he said as he bent down to straddle the boy's chest. Ollie leaned over
him until his face was inches away, and then whispered, "But I bet you'll
like this, won't you. I've seen you checking me out before, well now's your
chance to find out what I'm really like." Ollie pushed his lips hard
against the trapped boy's mouth, and forced his tongue to prise open the
other boy's lips. His struggles to turn his head away just made Ollie's
attempts more intense, this wasn't about sex, this was about
revenge. Revenge against this boy for all the shit and unacceptance Ollie
had been through in his life just because of narrow minded people like
him. As Ollie penetrated the boy's mouth further with his tongue, he raised
his left hand and the fear in the boy on the floor's eyes showed him that
he knew what was going on. The smell of charred fabric and burning flesh
met Ollie's nose as he pulled his face away from the boy's, and all of a
sudden reality came back into focus for him.

Ollie jumped to his feet and backed away quickly, stumbling over the body
of one of the non-mutants who was now lying lifeless on the floor. "Shit,
what have I done?" Ollie's eyes quickly surveyed the scene and took in the
horror that he'd created, and as he began to run away, run somewhere,
anywhere that wasn't here, he heard the distant wail of the police sirens
that he somehow knew would now be inevitable...

Jean Grey stepped through the large wooden doors of the warehouse she'd
been sent to and turned to the woman accompanying her. "Storm, over here,"
she said as she pointed to the place she could feel mental pain resonating
from behind a pile of bulky, stacked-up crates. Footprints could be seen in
the dust on the floor, an obvious sign that this deserted old building had
had a recent visitor.

"Hello?" There was an eerie silence until a surprised seagull squawked
and flapped its way down from the high wooden beams of the ceiling,
startling both women. "Oliver?" Storm called out across the wide open
interior of the warehouse. She jumped backwards as a few of the oak crates
next to her burst into flame.

"Careful Ororo, he doesn't have much control at the moment. He's been
through a lot, and from what the Professor says I think he's started to use
some powers he doesn't even know he has." The white-haired woman turned to
Jean. "Jean, we've been sent to collect the boy. What's the plan? We can't
just wait here and hope he comes to his senses."

"Just let me. Maybe I can get into his head and take away some of the
pain that's cutting him up inside."

"Isn't that dangerous? You saw what happened when I just called out a
second ago." The two women were here on a mission, but Storm didn't want to
see her friend get unnecessarily hurt.

Jean was grateful for the compassion in the other woman's voice. "I'll be
fine, Ororo. I can do it from here, you know." And then, still sensing the
apprehension, "I'm a big girl. I can handle myself."

She raised her hands to the sides of her head, and closed her eyes to get
a better sense of concentration. Focusing on the hidden boy's mind, she
reached out with her own and tried to forge and mental link.

[It's alright Oliver. We're not here to hurt you.] Not the most original
message to send to the boy, Jean thought, but the old ones were indeed
classics. [We've been sent to help you... come to terms with your whole
situation.]

A slightly shaky voice came floating from a shadowy corner of the
room. "You know what happened? What I did to them?" Then, with more
strength in the voice, "Who are you anyway? What do you want from me?"

Storm joined in. "We came to take you somewhere safe. You don't want to
stay cowering in this dirty old place for the rest of your life, do you?"
She stressed the word `dirty' as she stepped in something so disgusting,
she didn't even want to try to guess what it was.

"Well, I... I..." It was clear Ollie was stalling, confused in himself by
everything that had happened in the last few hours. "I was just about to go
home actually. So, if you ladies wouldn't mind stepping outside, then I'll
be on my way..."

"Oliver, it's okay. You can come out and talk to us in person. We're not
going to be afraid of you. We're mutants, like you. That's how I could put
my thoughts in your head earlier, and how I know how worried you are right
now. About yourself, and about us. Just come out here in the open, you
don't need to worry about us, we'll be fine." Jean turned to Storm and
began to whisper something to her, but was cut off with Storm's shocked
gasp.

Ollie was slowly walking out from his hiding place, and the two women
were greeted with a sight that was slightly different from how Ollie had
looked earlier that day. His pale skin had taken on a blue shimmer, and the
long hair he wore in a fringe that swept down across one side of his face
had turned a deep cherry red with darker red streaks running through. His
toned arms, shown off by the tight black tee he was wearing, revealed the
strangely beautiful blue flesh to its full extent. "What's happening to
me?" was all he could manage before collapsing into Jean's outstretched
arms and being led outside the warehouse as the tears of frustration and
relief began to flow.

"Oww! Bobby Drake, that is --not-- playing fair!" The sun was shining on
the front lawn of the Xavier Institute for Gifted Youngsters, and the girl
the other kids called Rogue stood with her boots frozen to the grass. "Just
wait until I get my hands on you!"

A girl with shoulder length brown hair ran past, taking Rogue's arm on
the way and pulling her free of the ice, apparently helping her step right
through the solid material. "Come on Rogue, I've found the flag." Kitty
Pride seemed to be one of the only kids taking this training exercise
seriously. "But I need your help to get to it. Bobby's frozen all around it
so you've gotta borrow Pyro's power. He's over here, come on!"

The two girls ran through the trees, dodging some and passing right
through others. A small puff of smoke and all Rogue heard was a heavily
accented, "Oh no you don't," before Kitty had been teleported away
somewhere and Rogue's face had lovingly met the now completely
concrete-feeling oak in front of her.

"Hey girl, no time for resting now!" Jubilee had one hand outstretched to
help Rogue up while the other was shooting colourful bolts of plasma at an
incredibly muscled boy. "Peter's about to get his metal on and us girls
could do with a hand over here." The well-built boy was striding through
the plasma beams as if they weren't even there. Just as he was reaching the
spot where the two girls stood Jubilee used all her strength to swing Rogue
round her body and towards Peter. As the launched girl was moving through
the air next to Peter, she reached out her left arm and cupped the side of
his face, slowing her motion and dropping him to the floor, unconscious.

"Which way?" Rogue yelled at Jubilee as she used her stolen abilities to
coat her body in Peter's metal armour plating. A quick point from Jubilee
and Rogue was back on her way, bringing down trees left and right as she
shoulder barged through the wooded part of the garden and into an open
clearing. She could just about see Pyro over by the main fountain, along
with the two instructors for this session, Wolverine and Psylocke, taking
notes from the sidelines. Running across the open terrain she suddenly
realised how vulnerable she was to any attack here, without the shelter of
the trees. A fact that was brought quickly to her attention as she had to
dive to her right to escape a particularly large fireball.

"What the?" Pyro's flames faded away as his body was lifted from the
ground, coated in thick, strong vines that had just sprung from
nowhere. "My lighter!" He stretched down his one free arm to the grass,
reaching desperately for the item that kick-starts his mutant abilities.

"Hi there, handsome. Need a hand?" Rogue picked up the fallen lighter and
held it tantalisingly close to Pyro's face. "I think I'll take this," she
said as she began to walk away. "Oh, and this," as she gave him a quick
kiss on the lips, taking in return a brief taste of his powers.

Rogue strode over to the fountain and noticed how eerily quiet it was now
that the rushing water had all been frozen in place. Another one of Bobby's
little tricks, she thought. She flicked open the lighter and sent a stream
of fire spiralling upwards around the ice, weaving in and out of the
glass-like structure. The water began to run again, and the flag the girls
team was searching for became visible through the droplets of water.

[Session over everyone.] Psylocke's telepathic message rang out through
the minds of each student in the mansion's garden. [Meet at the fountain
for a final debriefing.] The weary students all made their way over to the
two instructors, eager to know whether it was the boys or girls team who
had won the test.

Wolverine stepped forward into the crowd of teenagers, some of whom were
lying on the ground catching their breath, while others tried hard not to
seem phased by the physical and mental activity they'd just been
through. Although tired, most heads were drawn to looking upwards when the
twin jets of the Blackbird roared in the sky above, coming in for landing
on the other side of the mansion. The `snick' sound of Wolverine's claws
went unnoticed by the children whose attention he'd lost, but the giant
crashing sound of a falling tree, nearly crushing three students, brought
the focus back to the teachers. "It's just Jean and Storm. Nothing you
ain't seen before. Now, back to your test..." He surveyed the kids as if he
had bad news to give to all of them. "Psylocke, you've got the times for
the two flag matches..."

Psylocke stepped forward, but still didn't use her mouth to speak,
preferring the telepathic communication that seemed to suit her slightly
cold personality. [The boys team accessed their flag in 21 minutes 42, and
the girls in 17 and 31 seconds.] A cheer rose up simultaneously from all
the females gathered. [But...] cutting the celebrations short, [The girls
also completely melted their flag. It's still a win, but be careful with
any powers you are using. Winning at all costs is not the way we work
here. The girls teamwork was better, but both teams had their
strengths. The boys had strategy on their side. Good planning is often the
way to come out on top. In my life, I've often...]

Psylocke's message was cut short by a hand on her shoulder. "I think the
kids might want to go and get a bite to eat at some point today
Psylocke. We all know how your stories can get sometimes." Jean flashed the
other woman one of those smiles that nobody could ever be angry at, and
turned to the students. "Go get some food you guys, we've got normal
classes starting at 1pm."

"Good to see you Jean, didn't realise you'd be back so soon." Wolverine
moved towards her, and noticed the kid standing a little sheepishly
behind. "Who's the sprite?"

"This is Ollie. Ollie, this is Logan, or Wolverine. He's one of the
teachers here at the Institute." Ollie extended a hand. "Pleased to meet
you," he said as he became aware of the older man's VERY firm handshake.

"Cold hands. That go with the blue skin?" Ollie hung his head and looked
at the ground, still not used to his new look.

"As you can see Ollie, Logan has a certain `way' with words," Jean said
with a sideways glance to Wolverine that let him know he'd stepped a little
out of line with the last comment. [He's not used to looking like this, I
don't think it's been very long that he has.] "Anyway," pulling her mind
away from Logan, "I want you to meet someone. Rogue? Could you come over
here?"

The mass exodus of students carried on, but a gothic looking girl who
Ollie noticed was covered up more than he thought normal for a bright day
like today, started to make her way the opposite way to the crowd. "Y'all
wanted me for something?"

Jean pushed Ollie towards the girl. "This is Ollie. We just brought him
here today, will you look after him while he gets settled in, you know,
show him around, that sorta stuff?"

"Go easy on the sprite," Wolverine said with a knowing look. "We all know
what you're like with the newbies."

"Sprite? Is that like your codename?" Rogue span and linked arms with
Ollie, before marching him away from the adults. "Kinda cute, suits you
too. Don't worry, stick with me and you'll do fine."

Ollie struggled to fall in step at the speed this strange girl was
leading him, and just managed to get out a bewildered, "What did they mean
about you and the newbies...?" before the pair were disappearing through
the huge double doors of the mansion.

"Oh, I don't know what to do with him, Ollie. He's spending all his time
in the Danger room these days, it's like he's turning into Cyclops." Rogue
sat on the edge of the unmade bed in Ollie's room, shouting her
conversation through the slightly ajar bathroom door. "My God, how hot do
you want it in there? And are you even listening to me?"

"I like it hot, okay? And I was listening. It went a little something
like this. Boyfriend whinge, boyfriend whinge,
I-don't-see-how-lucky-I-am-to-have-someone-that-cute, boyfriend whinge."

"Listen, I'm going down to dinner now. You don't really want me to steal
your towel before I go, do you?"

  "You wouldn't dare, woman."

"Love ya babe." Ollie heard the door connecting his room to the hallway
slam shut from the bathroom, and decided he'd spent enough time in the
shower to practically turn into a prune. The steam stopped flowing across
the ceiling as Ollie twisted the tap into the off position and stepped out
onto the tiled floor.

"That bitch!" Ollie shook his hair to rid it of the excess water, then
gave a proper hunt around the small en-suite for the towel that Rogue must
have taken. "I can't believe she actually..." he began, before spotting the
missing item lying on the floor, next to the white porcelain sink. As he
picked up the towel and started massaging his hair, he used his mutant
ability to raise his body temperature and dry the rest of himself. The
little droplets of water that had been clinging to his naked body, from his
neck, down over his pecs and running down over his taught abdominal muscles
started to evaporate and float off into the air. Ollie still had the damp
towel draped over his head as he walked into his messy bedroom. It was only
as messy as any seventeen year old boy's room would be, but since he had no
roommate yet he didn't feel the need to keep everything in its place. The
floor to ceiling windows looking out over the enormous grounds of the
mansion were set just far enough back from the balcony to ensure noone
could see in from outside. It was still a gorgeous view to look out on
though, he though as he wandered towards them, still lazily rubbing the
small towel over his deep red hair.

"Oh my God." The sound of something heavy hitting the dark wooden floor
behind him startled Ollie, and he span round to see what had made the
noise, completely forgetting he hadn't actually put on any clothing yet.

"Who are you?" asked a shocked Ollie, while desperately trying to wrap
the towel previously on his hair somewhere around his waist

"Umm... I'm..." The boy in Ollie's doorway mumbled and stuttered as he
desperately tried not to stare in the obvious direction. "I'm, I'm new
here." The boy was blushing so much as he tried to gather up the cases he'd
dropped on his entrance it looked as if his head might pop at any moment.

Eventually Ollie managed to regain some kind of dignity with the
positioning of his towel, and he walked over while extending his hand to
the boy who was still trying to avoid his gaze. "Listen, I'm sorry. Nobody
told me that I'd be getting a room-mate this soon, and I'm sorry you had to
see, err, that much of me right away."

"It's, it's no problem," said the other teen, quickly throwing his
luggage on the unused side of the room. "I'm, ah, just gonna go and grab
some lunch. I'll see you around." And with that, he bolted out the door.

"Shit. Shit shit shit. What a fucking impression to make." Ollie mentally
kicked himself as he walked over to his wardrobe and slipped on a pair of
tight, black boxer briefs. "He's never gonna speak to me again. And they
gave me a cute roommate, too! Life just gets better and better," he moaned
out loud. "But then again, he did seem a little more embarrassed than a
regular straight guy would be, so..." he mused as he walked over to his
full length mirror.

In the past few weeks he'd been living at the mansion, Ollie had begun to
get used to, and even quite like his new appearance. He'd seen other people
around with physical mutations, which made it slightly easier. And also to
know that he wasn't one of the kids cursed with horns, or a tail, or extra
limbs, or anything like that. There was even a professor there, Beast,
who's body was covered in fur. Looking back at his reflection, he realised
he was grateful for the small things. He'd seen another adult walking
around the grounds earlier who had blue skin too, but his was a lot darker
than Ollie's. He walked with a very feline gait too, and had a long,
snakelike tail with a little devil fork on the end.

Admiring himself in the mirror, Ollie realised his physical appearance
was hardly that different at all to the `normal' looking student. Sure, his
skin had that icy blue shimmer, but damn, it did look kinda cool. His toned
body was definitely something he was pleased with, from his pecs, to his
slight six pack, and then on down to the V shaped muscles running down over
his hips into his low rise underwear. "Plus, I don't have too much to worry
about down there," Ollie spoke out loud as he brushed his hand down across
his well proportioned bulge. He let out a small sigh as he felt the rush of
blood shooting down into his cock as it slowly stiffened. He started
thinking about the boy who'd walked in on him naked earlier, and his cock
grew even harder. "Damn, he really was pretty fine," he murmured as his
hand found the waistband of his underwear and started to pull it down. His
thick, seven inch cock sprung upwards and slapped against his stomach as he
imagined what the boy would have thought if he'd walked in now instead of
before. "He'd probably love it," Ollie thought out loud as he began to jack
himself off slowly, eyes closed and imagining the face of his new,
mini-crush.

"Who would love what? Y'all talking to yourself again?" Came a familiar
voice from the other side of the door as the handle started to turn.

Ollie dived across the room and practically body slammed into the
door. "Noone! Nothing!" He panted out.

"Oliver Stark, you're not doing what I think you are in there, are you?"
came Rogue's response from the hallway outside the dorm room.

  "Uhh..."

"I leave you alone for two seconds! Honestly, do you guys ever think
about anything else? I'ma head down to class, but I'll give you a few
minutes to... finish up, ya know?" she said with a laugh as she walked off
down the hallway.

"Lock the door," Ollie said to himself as he relaxed from his lucky
escape. "Why the fuck do I never lock the door?!"

As always, if anyone has any feedback on this here little baby o' mine, I'd
love to hear it. Even if it's just picking up on my spelling mistakes, it's
nice to know someone's reading your work. heyboy-heygirl@hotmail.co.uk -
