Mornings always feel uncomfortable but when you've just made the move
onto one of your friends the night before, its even more awkward. I
didn't feel the need to bring it up again after that night because
Christian seemed to forget about it so I did the same. We were almost
done filming at Pendleton but I was already ready to leave. Afterwards,
the crew and extras got into the busses and we drove back out to
Imperial.

The desert stuff started early. We really had to get a crunch on things
because the weather was going to get worse. It was already 94 degrees
outside so I could only image what things were going to turn into. The
first few days were the hardest, of course. We were starting to adjust
the sun and heat and wearing our gear outside while running around. Being
inside clothing that isn't heat friendly isn't the best thing in the
world but we had to do what we had to do. Everyday the set became more
and more. One day we'll have a couple hundred extras walking around
while at another time we'll actually have tanks and helicopters flying
around our heads. We even had some actual Marines on set.

"You better get ready. We only have a few more minutes." I told Chris
in the hotel room.
"Nah, I'm not going."
"Why?" I asked.
"Don't feel like it."
"Are you sure? I mean, I want you to let me know how I do in today's
scene."
"Why today? What are you going to do?" He asked.
"That angry part again. I wanted to do it again because the first time
was bad."
"No it wasn't."
"Yeah. It freaked me out because that characteristic isn't me at all.
It's weird to be THAT angry." I said. "So I want to try it again."
"Do you think you're ready?"
"Yeah. I hope I am. It's an important part in the movie so I have to
get it perfect."
I walked out from my trailer and met up with Brian. He and I were in the
scene together so we walked to our places inside a large tent out in the
desert. Jacob, plays Cortez, got into his place and the scene started.
"Action!" Sam yelled.
Brian and I had riffles in our laps and we were putting them together and
taking them apart trying to sort of battle each other, I guess.
Everything was going as planned until it came time to blow up. This is
where that little voice in the back of my head comes in and sykes me out.
I decided to forget everything and think about something has been bugging
me for a little while now as inspiration for the anger to come out. As
the words came out, so did my temper. Line after line transformed me into
Swoff. I wasn't myself anymore. It felt good to get angry. Things caught
up with me when I got carried away and jabbed myself in the mouth with
the barrel of the gun. I put my hand up to my mouth to try and ease the
pain but it was all too much. I walked off set for a little bit and
checked to see if I was bleeding. Unfortunately I was but I didn't care.
I wiped my mouth off and got back in front of the camera. I used the pain
to get me more and more aggressive. I started to say my lines again but
couldn't take it any more. I snapped. Before I knew it I was on Brian,
hitting him on the head while we stayed in character. Seconds later Sam
called cut and I took a breather. I took at Brian and saw him holding
onto his head, his face showing the pain he was in. I didn't care. I
tried to snap out of Swoff mode but brought him with me when I stormed
away. I rushed to my trailer and slammed the door but heard it re-open
when Christian walked inside.
"Are you okay?" Chris asked while I looked into the mirror.
"Fuck!" I yelled. "It's chipped."
"Let me see." Chris walked over and I opened my mouth. "Does this
hurt?" He reached in and pressed on my front tooth with his finger.
"OW! Fuck!"
"Sorry."
"Son of a bitch." I looked at myself again.
"What was that over there? Where you supposed to beat up on him like
that?"
"No. It was an accident." I said.
"Accident? You kept hitting him on the head. How many times did your
hand accidentally smack him?"
"Look, I don't know! He made me bleed!"
"Don't get mad at me!" Christian replied.
"Then stop asking stupid questions!" I blurted out. I was so pissed
that half my tooth was missing that I didn't care who I took it out on.
"What the hell is wrong with you?"
"Nothing^Å"
"That's crap. Is it me? Did I do something? Are you mad because Randy
calls the room?"
"God, can you not mention him for one day?! I mean, you talk to the guy
24/7. Give it a break." I walked over and got in Christians face.
"What?! Where the hell is this coming from?" He had a look of shock on
his face.
"I don't want to hear his fucking name anymore! Leave the guy alone
already."
Silence. Chris shook his head and turned around then started to walk out
of the trailer.
"You know, I thought you were a little different from the other asshole
actors but I guess I was wrong. What a great fucking time to find out."
He closed the door and walked away.

Later that same day, I met up with Brian at the catering tent and tried
to apologize but he didn't want to hear it. I couldn't begin to imagine
how he felt after being pushed around like he was. If I was in his
position I wouldn't forgive myself either. The two of us didn't speak
the entire day.

I walked into the hotel room late. Christian was laying on the couch in
the dark T.V. room. He looked at me but turned his head away again. Of
course I felt bad but I guess I had too much pride to say sorry to him.

When I was lying in bed, in my room, all I could do was think about what
had happened earlier. Even if Brian wouldn't except me saying sorry I
was not going to stop trying to apologize to Christian. I felt that it
was something that needed to be done as soon as possible. I suddenly
heard the T.V. in the other room turn on so I figured Chris was still
awake. Slowly, I made my way out of bed and walked to the doorway. I
noticed Christian in the television light sitting upright on the couch
cushions with the remote in his right hand, flipping through the
channels.
"Hey." I tried to get him to say something. He ignored me again. I
moved over to the couch and sat besides him. "Look, I'm sorry. I had no
right to blow up like that. I wish I could take it back but I cant so all
I can do is apologize."
"Why didn't you say something earlier?" He said. "It would've made
it easier for both of us."
"I know but I'm not the person to just come out and say things until I
cant take it anymore. Its weird, I know."
"Yeah well, I guess its okay. I mean, we all have our moments. I was
just the cause of yours."
"So am I forgiven?" I exclaimed.
"Yeah."
"One thing though. Do you really think I'm an asshole actor?"
"No. I just said that cause I was pissed off."
Silence.
"So is there anything good on?" I asked looking over at the television
screen.
"Nope. Mostly infomercials selling exercise equipment."
"Can I see the remote?"
"Yeah, sure." I took the remote from Christian and turned the T.V. off.
"What are you doing?"
"Well, in order for us to get along a little better we should probably
talk a little."
"About what?"
"Anything. Like uh^Å tell me a secret. Something no one knows."
"A secret? Okay. Okay, when I was younger I used to watch the show
`Hercules' and I used to pretend I was his him. I would try and pick up
the bed and drawers like he would pick up heavy rocks and stuff." That
was the funniest thing I've ever heard. "Your turn."
I had to think about it for a second. "Lets see^Å Oh okay. I used to be
in a band when I was younger. Like, in my teens."
"A band? Rock band or marching band?" Christian smiled.
"Rock band. We played really bad music. It was terrible. I was the lead
singer."
"What?! Do you still remember a song?"
"Yeah, actually."
I opened my mouth and the words from our ONLY song came out. I was a
little amazed that I remembered it word for word.
"That was amazing." Christian clapped. He was just being polite.
"Thank you." I looked over at Chris and saw him looking back at me. I
smiled and looked away shyly. "Its late. I should get to bed now." I
said then stood up to leave. Christian took me by the wrist and pulled me
back down then kissed me with out warning. I didn't stop him on purpose.
I leaned back onto the couch and let Christian hover over me between my
legs. Our lower bodies pressed together as our lips sucked the flavor of
each others mouths like we would an ice cream cone or candy lollipop. I
pulled him down by his neck and started to kiss him with more power
behind each kiss. He slowly made his way from my mouth to my jaw then to
my neck. Shivers were having a field day running up and down my back. We
were both locked onto each other like a hunter is locked onto his game.

Christian and I got out to location and seeing as how I was a little bit
late I went directly into make-up and wardrobe while Christian walked
around. After coming out, I went to meet with Sam so he could give me a
quick run through then moved on set to see how things were looking. I
noticed Christian standing out in the open looking around at everything
happening around him.
"Its great, right?" I told him while I walked up from behind.
"Yeah. It looks so real."
"Here." I took a small envelope from my pocket and gave it to
Christian.
"What's this?" He asked.
"Open it."
Chris opened the envelope and pulled out a silver chain and dog tags.
"Oh wow. This is so great. They say my name and everything."
"I had Sam order an extra pair when he ordered ours. Do you like them?"
"Yeah. Thanks."
"Just thought they would be a little memorabilia from the set."
"I'm an official Jarhead now." He said. "Are they both the same?"
"Yeah, they say the same thing."
"Do you want to trade one? Ill give you one of mine, you give me one of
yours?" Christian asked.
"Yeah, sure." We swapped one tag and Sam called me over to start
filming.
Today was an actual kick back day. No filming until later on. I walked
around the hotel room while Christian sat on the bed in my room. The
phone rang and I went to get it.
"Hello?" I said. "No, this is Jake who's this? Ashley? Yeah, hold on
a minute." I went into the other room and handed the phone to Chris.
"Its your friend." I said.

I woke up the next morning feeling good until I noticed Chris was gone
again. I figured he was outside smoking a cigarette or something so I
didn't pay much attention. After minutes and even an hour that passed, I
saw that maybe he wasn't outside after all. I went down to the front
desk and asked the lady if she'd seen him walk out. I gave her his
description and she said that she had seen someone by that description
walk out early morning. I was confused. Maybe it was only someone who
looked like Christian. I wasn't sure. I got back up to the room and
called Chris' cell phone but there was no answer. Even though I was a
little confused, I still had a job to do so when I got onset I left the
situation behind me and did what I had to do. After hours of filming I
had gotten down right worried.
"Hey Peter!" I called out.
"Yeah?" He said.
"Have you seen Christian around?"
"No, isn't he with you?"
"No. I woke up and he wasn't in the room. I thought he had gone
somewhere but its been hours since then."
"You should ask Sam. He has a check list of everyone that has been on
set today."
"Okay thanks." I left and went to find Sam. I found him talking to
Bobby over by the camera equipment. "Sam, can I talk to you really
quick?" I asked.
"Yeah, sure. What's up?"
"I just wanted to ask you if you've seen Christian."
"No. Oh, but I did talk to him last night."
"Last night? Why? What did he say?" I asked.
"He said he had an emergency and had to go back home."
"He left?"
"Yeah, I even put him on a flight back for this morning." Sam said.
"Are you for real?"
"Yeah. He didn't tell you?"
"No. No, he didn't."
Why didn't he tell me? I was so confused. I guess there was nothing I
could do so I went on with my day.

Christians P.O.V
So Ashley was kind enough to let me stay with her until I find a new job
and get my place back. That is IF I get my place back. It was the 15th
and I still hadn't found another place to work at. I only had half of
the month left until it was due date. I sat in Ashleys kitchen looking
through the paper and highlighting possible job openings. Needless to say
most of the adds read "Plummer needed" or "Well knowledge handyman
wanted." No luck with that. I heard Ashleys bare feet hitting the
hardwood floor as she walked over to me with the chain Jake had given me
at hand.
"Where'd you get this?" She asked. I had forgotten that I had taken it
off at the airport and left it in my bag.
"Oh, I, uh^Å when I was away there was this small shop and I thought
those were really cool so^Å"
"Jake Gyllenhaal." She read one tag.
"Yeah. They had, like, a wall of celebrity names and I thought it would
be funny to get his."
"Oh that's cool." I'm sure I was red from lying. I watched Ashley
closely and could tell she was thinking about something. I got up from
the kitchen table and tried to take the chain away before she could turn
it over and read the back side that read: "Christian, thanks for the
phone. Jake G." I was too late. I felt shivers when she whispered the
words to herself.
"Jake G? Who's^Å" Ashley stopped half way.
"What? Who's what?" I asked.
"Who was that Jake guy that answered the phone that one day I called?"
She asked.
"A friend, remember?"
"Friend? Who exactly where you with?" I knew she was starting to
suspect something. She put two and two together and found four. Yes, she
was a great mathematician.
"Just^Å some people." I said. Ashley stared at me with a look that
would make the huge heads on Mt. Rushmore look away. "Chris^Å"
"Fine! Yes, it was Jake."
"Gyllenhaal?"
"The only one."
"WHAT!? Are you serious? Why didn't you tell me before?" She asked.
"Cause I didn't know how you would act." I said.
"So that tag is^Å"
"^Åhis, yeah."
"How? What!? What's that thing about the phone on the back?"
"Remember when he and his friend came into the restaurant that one day?
He had left his cell phone on the table by accident and I returned it to
him."
"You had Jake Gyllenhaal's phone?"
"Yes, can you stop saying his whole name, please?"
"Where'd you guys go?" Ashley really wanted to know every single
little detail.
"The desert."
"The desert? What for?"
"A movie."
"He was filming a movie?"
"Yeah."
"Oh God^Å wait, wait. I need time to take this all in." Ashley sat down
on a chair and looked up at me. It was so funny how she got worked up
about this. I went back to look at the paper on the table.
That same day I was getting to walk Sargent. I opened the front door so
that we could leave when I saw Randy standing in front of us.
"Randy, hey." I said. It had been a long time since I've seen the guy
and he looked great.
"Hey." He said. "Where've you been?"
"Away."
"Yeah. I just came by to give Ashley her movies back." I took the three
movies and placed them on the kitchen counter. "So what's going on?"
Randy asked.
"Nothing much. I was about to take Sargent for a little walk. Do you
want to come?"
"Yeah, sure."
"Alright, lets go." I reached behind me and pulled the door closed then
the three of us walked into the bright daylight. We walked to a park that
was a short way away and had a nice conversation.
"I'm glad you're back actually. Ashley told me your birthday was
coming up in two weeks." Randy exclaimed.
"Yeah."
"What do you want for your birthday?" He asked.
"Nothing. Its not a big deal."
"What? Come on. You have to want something."
"No, its okay. Don't worry about it." I said.
"Well okay, What's something you would want?"
"A job." I told him.
"A job? What happened to the restaurant?"
"I got fired."
"What for?"
"Lying to my boss about something."
"Oh wow. That sucks."
"Yeah."
"If you want I could talk to my boss and maybe hook you up with a job at
the theatre."
"Are you serious?" I said. I was really happy to hear that. My window
of opportunity had just lifted open and I was going to take full
advantage of it.
"Yeah. Its no problem."
"Thanks! That's really nice of you."
"Ill tell him when I get in later on." Randy said.
"Okay."
"Well I have to get going now but ill see you later on, okay?"
"Yeah, for sure."
Randy and I hugged and he went in the opposite direction to get to where
he needed to be. Sargent and I got back from our outing and went back
Ashleys house.
Later in the week, I was getting out of the shower when Ashleys phone
rang. Seeing as she was out working, I picked it up and answered.
"Yeah?" I said.
"Um, is Christian available?" The man asked.
"This is he. Who's this?"
"Oh, its me, Jake."
"Oh yeah. Hey."
"Hey. I tried calling your apartment but it said that the line had been
disconnected. I had to call the restaurant where you work to find out
what happened but they said you didn't work there anymore. I asked if
anyone knew where you might be and a girl gave me this number."
"Ashley." I said. "My phone was disconnected because I don't live at
the apartment anymore."
"You moved?"
"Something like that."
"Where are you now?" Jake asked.
"My friends house. I don't have anywhere else to go so I'm staying
here until I can find another job and get my apartment back by the end of
this month."
"Wow. That's tough."
"Yeah. Oh and by the way, sorry about leaving with out saying anything.
I wanted to come back to L.A. to try and get my job at the restaurant
back." I said.
"Its okay. Sam told me what happened so its all good. We're almost
going back actually. I think one more week out here and then we leave to
Universal Studios to do some of the final scenes."
"Oh yeah? That's good." I exclaimed.
"Yeah so we should get together soon."
"Yeah, that'll be great."
"Alright well I have to go, I'm calling from the set. Ill talk to you
later."
"Alright, bye."
We hung up and I continued with my day.

One more week left before I was officially screwed on getting my
apartment back. Randy still hadn't gotten back to me about what his boss
said to the idea of possibly giving me a position at the theater. I was
ready to give up when I heard Ashley call my name across the house. I
walked over to her. She was in the kitchen making dinner. I took the
phone from her hands and put it on my ear.
"Hello?"
"Hi, is this Christian?" The woman asked.
"Yes it is. Can I help you?"
"I just wanted to confirm that date of your return to your apartment."
She said. I had to process her words in my head for a minute.
"Excuse me?" I asked.
"When will you be returning to your apartment?" She asked again.
"Uh, I'm sorry but I haven't gathered the money to move back yet."
"Our records show that the apartment it paid in full."
"What?" I said. I looked at Ashley and she looked at me. Both not
knowing what exactly was going on. "What does that mean?"
"It means you are able to move back. We just need to know when you will
be doing so."
Was I dreaming? A smile crawled onto my face slowly but surely.
"Um^Å will tomorrow be okay?" I asked.
"That would be splendid." The woman said.
"Thank you. Bye."
I hung up the phone and started laughing.
"What's going on? Who was that?" Ashley asked.
"I'm not sure but I think I just got my apartment back." I said.
"What? How?"
"I don't know. I thought I still had time to get the money but it turns
out that the place was already paid for." I said.
"Who paid for it?"
"I have no clue. I go back tomorrow."
"congratulations." Ashley said.
That night I went to sleep happy.

The next morning I got up early to make sure nobody was playing a trick
on me about the apartment. I called the complex and they said that I did
have the right to move in again. They couldn't tell me who the person
who paid the bill was because it came from an "anonymous" sender. I was
just happy that this wasn't some sort of cruel joke. I want to the
warehouse where my things were being kept and let them know that I was
going to be moving back. They said that my things would be delivered to
the address I left that same day. I went back to Ashleys house and
gathered my things and we drove out to the complex. I walked into the
building and told Sarah, the woman at the front desk, that I was moving
back in and she gave me the key to my apartment. I was ecstatic to say
the least. Having that key in my hand gave me a great deal of relief.
Ashley, Sargent and I walked up to my door number and stepped inside.
After the movers came and unloaded I became familiar with my surroundings
once again. All I needed now was a steady job.

My birthday hadn't turned out to be a pile of shit anymore. I had my
house back, Randy had managed to get me a place at his work and I was now
back to my usual routine. Ashley had planned a small get together for me
on this very "special" day. Just a few of our friends hanging out at my
place, nothing big. Day turned to night and we were all still chatting
and catching up on old times. Things were about to get even better as the
night wore on. At around 10:42 p.m. there was a knock at my door.
"I'll get it." Ashley said. I was in the kitchen getting everyone some
drinks. "Chris!" I heard her yell.
"Yeah?" I yelled back.
"Someone's here to see you!"
I dropped what I was doing and went out to see who it was. Coming to the
door I saw Ashley looking at me strangely.
"Who is it?" I asked. She didn't answer. I made my way to the entrance
and saw Randy standing at the door. "Oh hi!" I said. "Come on in."
"Happy birthday." Said Randy in a joyous voice and handed me a small,
rectangular box wrapped neatly in solid red paper and a bow on the
corner.
"Thanks." I took the gift then we made our way into the apartment and
to the living room to join the others. Before I could sit down, there was
another knock on the door. Ashley went to get it but I stopped her. "I
got it." I thought it was going to be another one of my friends but I
was shocked to see who it really was.
"Hey." Jake said after I opened the door and looked out.
"Jake. What are you doing here?"
"I came to see you. We're almost done filming at Universal, I thought
I'd stop by. I asked the lady downstairs if you had moved back in
already and she said that you had so^Å" He said.
"Oh great. Hold on, how did you know I was going to move back in?" Jake
smiled wide. "You sent the money?" I was uncertain.
"Yeah." Jake nodded and smiled again. "I felt bad because it was
partly my fault for making you lose your job and apartment. I wanted to
do something to make up for it."
"Well that was beyond making up for it but you didn't have to spend
your money on this."
"I know but I felt like I had to."
"Who is it, babe?" Ashley came and stood besides me in the doorway. I
looked at her just in time to see her completely freeze. "Oh God^Å" She
stuttered.
"Oh, Jake this is Ashley. She was the one I was staying with."
"Hi." Jake said while he extended his hand out. Ashley shyly took it
and said hello.
"Come on in." I said. Jake, Ashley and I walked into the apartment and
I introduced Jake to everyone. You should've seen them. They stared as
if I had just brought in big foot. You should hear a rat pee on cotton it
was extremely amusing. Eventually everyone got over the fact that Jake
was in the same room as them.
"What's going on? Is it a special day today?" Jake asked.
"Sort of. It's my birthday." I said. Jake got serious.
"For real?" He asked.
"Yeah."
"That's great. You never mentioned it before. I didn't know."
"Nothing was supposed to be happening today but Ashley invited some
friends. I cant tell them to go away so I'm making the best of it."
"That's good. Are you having fun at least?"
"Yeah. I've been needing some time to just relax after the past few
weeks." I looked at Jake and saw him looking at me with a soft smile in
his face. Have you ever heard of the expression "smiling eyes"? Well
that's a good way to describe Jakes stare. Suddenly the nights we spent
together at the hotel started to come back.
"Hello." Randy walked out into the balcony where Jake and I were
talking.
"Hey Randy." I said. "Did you already meet Jake?"
"Yeah. Hey." He told Jake.
"Hey." Jake responded.
"What's up?" Randy asked.
"Not much." I responded.
"Do you want a drink?" He asked.
"No thanks."
"What about you?" Randy asked Jake.
"No, I'm good. Thanks."
The three of us had a conversation that lasted for a long time. I could
tell Jake was uncomfortable standing besides Randy. He seemed a lot more
quiet than I was used to.
At around 1:17 a.m. everyone began to leave. Person after person started
to walk out of the door until Ashley was the last to go.
"Did you have a good time?" She asked.
"Yes. It was great. Thanks for calling everyone on such short notice."
"You are very welcome. Ill talk to later, okay."
"Yep."
Ashley walked out of the apartment and the only ones left were Jake and
I.
"Are you going to leave it like this?" Jake asked referring to the mess
of cups and pizza boxes in the living room. It was a huge mess but it was
1 in the morning and I didn't feel like cleaning.
"Il clean up tomorrow."
"Okay. I bet getter going. I cant believe its this early in the
morning."
"Do you have to work tomorrow? Wait^Å I mean today."
"Not till noon."
"Well, if you want you can crash here." I said. "I mean, its really
early. Maybe you shouldn't drive on no sleep." Jake only nodded. I laid
out blankets and pillows on the couch and get it ready for Jake.
"Night." I said.
"Good night." Jake replied.
I got into my room and under my sheets when I heard the couch squeak. I
thought Jake was getting comfortable until I saw him walk up to the room
door. He stood still while we looked at each other. He moved besides my
bed and crawled on.
"It was hell being alone at the hotel." Jake whispered. I looked at him
with intensity and before I knew it we were kissing. A sense of déjà vu
came over me as we laid back onto the soft mattress. Jake kneeled and
forcefully pulled his white shirt off and got back down. I did the same
and soon we were trying or best to rip away the pants that covered our
lower half. Jake laid over me, our bare bodies grinding together creating
a dangerous amount of friction and body heat. He got into position
between my legs when I stopped him.
"What's the matter?" He asked.
I reached into my nightstand and pulled out a small box of protection and
handed one to him. Jake took the condom and quickly took it out of the
sealed pouch then placed it on himself. He flipped me over on my stomach
and wasted no time in getting to work. Slowly, Jake made his way inside
of me. Every small move sending a jolt of electricity and goose bumps
around my body. The pressure was intense. My groans were muffled by the
pillow my face was buried in. Jake found his rhythm and the pressure
became pleasant. I could hear Jake behind me letting out small breaths of
air every time he inserted himself. The room soon became filled with
yelps and moans and heat. I pushed myself up with my arms, my back
pressed close against Jakes chest. I could feel his moist skin sticking
to mine the more we went on. It was more than I could handle. I felt Jake
become tense behind me right before he came.
"Oh God." Jake sighed. "Fuck^Å"
His pace became slower and more gentle until he let himself fall onto my
back and I fell onto the bed. I could feel his warm breath in my ear as
he caught his breath. We were both high even though we had not taken any
sort of drug. The room spun in circles as I looked up at the ceiling. I
turned to Jake and saw him breathing normally besides me, his mouth open,
sucking in air. Jake turned his entire body towards me and moved my head
to his then kissed me lightly on the lips. I kissed him back and we fell
asleep together.
