The phone vibrated on Tyrone's desk. He snatched it and held it out
for the lecturer to see, to show that he was leaving the class to take the
call. The lecturer nodded. Tyrone stepped into the hallway. He looked at
the phone display. It said "Private Number". He gulped and hit the green
phone button.

"Hello?"

"Hey it's me."

It was Pauline. Tyrone clenched his teeth.

"Hey" he replied, trying not to sound too disheartened.

"Has your Jedi boy called yet?" she asked.

"No, not yet" he said, lowly.

"Oh OK, well send me a text message when he does."

"Alrighty, no problem. I've gotta go, I'm at college" Tyrone said.

"OK, cya later!" Pauline chirped.

He hung up and went back into the room.

3 o'clock.

4 o'clock.

Tyrone left college, feeling a little drained. He had been expecting Hayden
to call back during the day since it was around the time that they met the
day before. He headed home hoping that Hayden was just caught up in
something.

Tyrone got home and there was still no phone call. He rang his own mobile
phone from his home phone to check if it was working. It was. He suddenly
panicked and wondered if he had written down the correct number for
Hayden. Or maybe Hayden lost the number. Or worse, what if Hayden wasn't
going to call at all.

Time passed. Tyrone tried to do some reading for his course, all the while,
having his phone by his side. He was starting to feel a little stupid after
all this waiting. He didn't want to give up on Hayden, but it was already
getting late. He looked up at the clock. It read 7:48pm.

He went to his room and collapsed face up on his bed. He let out a
frustrated breath.

"Oh well, looks like I was screwed over" he thought to himself. He got up
and walked over to his stereo and stuck his Nsync "Celebrity" album in the
cd player. Suddenly, his phone rang.

A young boy's voice piped from the lounge. "Tyrone!" It was his brother
Warren. Warern walked into the bedroom with Tyrone's phone in his hand. It was
ringing.

Tyrone grabbed it and looked at the display. "Private Number" it read.

"Tyrone speaking" he answered.

"Hey buddy, it's Hayden from the Opera House!" it was familiar accent on
the other end.

"Oh hey!" Tyrone said, trying to sound non-chalant "I forgot you were going
to call!" He wrinkled his nose at the white lie.

"Oh sorry, did I get you at a bad time?" Hayden said.

"Oh no, no, no. I mean, shit, I'm glad you called!" Tyrone said, trying to
save himself.

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah"

"Yeah, sorry, I just got caught up shoot.. I mean, with work... Some of the
guys needed some help, and, you know how it is..." Hayden stuttered.

"No, that's cool. I'm just happy to hear from you." Tyrone said.

"Great, so what are you up to?"

"Oh nothing, didnt really have anything planned tonight."

"Would you like to catch up and hang out tonight or something?

"Yeah I'd love to" Tyrone replied, trying not to sound too excited. He
was already grinning ear to ear.

"Excellent, well, um, do you drive?"

"Yeah"

"Would you mind meeting me at my hotel?" Hayden asked.

"Not at all" Tyrone said, jumping up and down in his room, trying not to
make it too obvious to Hayden that he was excited as hell.

"Cool, so, yeah I'm staying at a hotel called Sheraton on the Park. Do you
know how to get here?" Hayden said.

"Sure do, it's near where I work." Tyrone said. "What time would you like
me to come get you?"

"Does 8:30 sound OK?"

"Sure, do I ask for you at the desk?"

"No, I'll be in the lobby where the lounge chairs are. I'll wait for you
there." Hayden said.

"OK, did you have anything in particular that you wanted to do tonight?"
Tyrone asked.

"We'll decide on it when you get here" Hayden replied.

"OK, well, see you soon!"

"Bye Tyrone!" And with that Hayden hung up.

Tyrone jumped on his bed with a smile that could stretch a mile wide. He
danced around to the song which was playing on the album, "Pop". He could
not contain himself. Now was the dilemma, what would he wear?

After much deliberation on clothing and a quick shower, Tyrone made his
way to the Sheraton. He parked on the road opposite from the hotel and
looked at his watch. 8:26. He was early. He reached into his glove box and
pulled out his cologne and sprayed some on himself. He decided to wait in the
car for a bit longer so it didnt seem like he was too keen. He waited for
another couple of songs to play on his car stereo before he went into the
hotel. He looked at his passenger seat and saw the magazine that he had
brought to show Pauline the night before, he quickly threw it under his
seat so Hayden wouldn't see it. He looked at his watch again. 8:26. His
watch had died. He quickly glanced at the clock on his dashboard. It was
8:39.

"Shit!" he said to himself. He turned off his engine, locked the car, and
almost sprinted to the revolving doors of the Sheraton. He looked around in
the foyer. Then made his way to the seating area. His heart sunk. There was
no sign of Hayden.
