opened and i heard him walk in and sit on the edge of the bed and wrap his
arm around me where i just melted into his big strong chest. "Baby i'm so
sorry. I was way out of line." he said. "No don't be sorry i was out of
line. I should be more understanding. It's just that this has always been
my dream. To be a starships first officer and on the road to being a
captain. I wanted this for years." I told him. "Well it's just as well i
was just offered the chance to be Voyagers chief engineer and i have
already accepted." he said. "You mean it, your happy to come with me." i
said. "Jack this is a dream to be Voyagers chief engineer. We are going to
be together for ever." he told me. "Good, now you get out of here and go to
work." i told him. He smiled and kissed me on the cheek and went. I quickly
showered and got into a fresh uniform. Taking Ma

 tthew from my parents the 3 of us walked out of the house and down to the
transporter where we beamed into Starfleet headquaters.



Having dropped Matthew off at the Starfleet Day Care Centre i went over to
Admiral Janeway's office and we discussed Voyager with Chakotay. Towards
the end of the meeting i spoke up. "Okay i only have a few final things to
bring up. First i met with Commander Peters and Commander Suffolk and we
have come up with a plan for the overhaul." i said giving it to Admiral
Janeway to look over. "Looks good." she said handing it to Chakotay. "I
like it Jack, good work." Chakotay said smiling. "Thanks." i said. "Finally
the last thing per Chakotay's order i have come up with the finalised list
of senior officers." i said. "Let's hear them then." said Kathryn grabbing
an empty pad and noting them down. "Okay Cheif security and Tactical
officer Lieutenant Commander B'Elanna Torres, Chief of Operations,
Lieutenant Harry Kim, Helmsman Lieutenant Commander Tom Paris, Chief
Engineer Lieutenant Thomas Walker, Chief Medical Officer The Doctor, Chief
science officer is actually going to be Seve

 n of Nine." i told them. "That sound wonderful at least the crew is
staying together how it should be and yes i was aware that Seven was
offered a commision and she accepted. She hasn't been given a rank she will
remain at crewman but i'm sure she will make a fine officer for you both."
said Kathryn. "Jack i recall asking you to pick out a councillor for the
ship, have you chosen one?" asked Chakotay. "Actually i have. The
councillor on board is Lieutenant Troy Walker a very capable and fine young
councillor who was actually trained by Councillor Deanna Troi the noted
councillor from the enterprise." i explained. "Of course. Sounds
wonderful." said Chakotay. "Well gentlemen i'll round off this meeting
now. Chakotay i will start with you. Your part of all of this is now
done. Jack will be sending you weekly progress reports but in the mean time
you are officially off duty until further notice do i make myself clear."
she said. "Yes ma'am." he said. "Good, then get out of here

  and get on the transport that on standby to take you home." she said
smiling. "You didn't..." he said. "I sure did, landing padd 176 go!"
kathryn explained smiling. He smiled and walked out. She then turned to
face me. "You on the other hand are going to have a lot to deal with i'm
affriad." She told me. I smiled and breathed loudly and fell back in to my
chair. I then sat back up and grabbed a new padd and started to take
notes. "Firstly, you need to get back on board the ship with Tom Paris and
B'Elanna and the engineering crew and get the ship back up into space and
docked at Drydock. She was landed the other day so that a starfleet crew
could visually inspect the ship and walk the hull. When you do this make
sure you take Commanders Peters and Suffolk with you so that they can just
begin straight away. From then on you have a simple job keep track of the
work going on, on board the ship and bring the crew compliment back up to
153. Ask the original crew first if they ar

 e choosing to re take their positions and collate them and then when you
have results you will know the number of officers that you will need to get
from personnel. Do you understand me?" asked Kathryn. "Oh yes i
understand." i said. "Good. I know you can do this Jack, your such a good
officer." she said. "Thanks. Can i borrow your terminal to contact Tom,
B'Elanna and my husband to get them together so i can get Voyager back up
in space?" i asked. "Sure go right ahead." she said and away i went



45 minutes later i was stood with Kathryn waiting to transport to
Voyager. Tom, B'Elanna and Paris had all agreed to meet us on the ship with
the engineering crew as had Commanders Peters and Suffolk. When we entered
the transporter room the attendant looked at me and Kathryn. "Good
afternoon sirs, may i ask your destination." she asked. "Yes ensign to
Voyager." i said. We stepped up on to the platform and de-materialised and
re appeared in the transporter room on Voyager. We left the transporter
room and made our way to the bridge. I eventually got there with Kathryn
and just as stepped out i announced "Admiral on the Bridge." Everyone stood
to attention and Kathryn smiled saying "At ease." She then turned to
me. "Okay jack this is your show." she said. "Okay, stations please." i
said. Everyone went to their posts. "Mr Paris, i'm assuming that your time
here on earth and away from the helm hasn't stopped you from remembering
how to get this ship in the air." i said jokingly.

  "Of course not, it was drilled into me by the wife." he said. I laughed
and said "Good, then Mr Paris, bring anti- grav thrusters online and
prepare to intiate take off." i told him. "Aye sir." he replied. "B'Elanna,
interial dampers to flight configuration. Bring main thrusters to standby
mode." i announced. "Ready Jack." she said. "Code Blue." i said. At that no
one said a word and the ship remained on normal alert status. I looked at
Kathryn who then tapped her commbadge and moved over to the tactical
console. "This Admiral Janeway to all hands. We are preparing to
depart. All operative stations go to blue alert and report to condition
blue stations." she said. "Thanks Kathryn." i said. "Starfleet air traffic
control this is the starship Voyager requesting permission to depart." i
said. "Voyager this is Air Traffic control permission to depart
granted. Remain at thrusters only until you clear the thermosphere at an
altitude of 270 Kilometers." said an Ensign. "Acknolwdge

 d." i said. "All stations report condition blue." said Kathryn. "Here we
go again." i said out loud. "Take us up Mr Paris." i ordered. "At that the
ship assended slowly leaving the ground and away we flew up to the drydock.



Okay for those people who still read this... this is the final chapter of
this story... but the fun doesn't end here. I will be back with a return
story after christmas of brand new adventures that the Voyager crew will
face as well as the arrival of another baby into the Carter/Walker
