For a while, the teens forgot all about their problems. Both wished they could
spend the rest of the morning finding comfort in each other's arms. Lucas
occasionally dropped soft kisses into his brother's dark hair, while Nathan
lazily stroked the arm that wrapped around him so protectively.

Lucas' cell phone ringing broke through the tranquil moment. He reached for it
and looked at the number before answering. "Haley, what's up?"

"Maybe I should be asking you that question?" She didn't give her friend a
chance to respond. "Nathan's father called looking for you and his son."
"Haley, what did you tell him?"

Haley could tell her friend was anxious. "Nothing," she answered slightly
annoyed. "How could I tell him anything? I didn't know you two were on the lam
until he called. What's going on Lucas?"

"I can't get into specifics now. Let's just say Nate's dad knows about us and he
wasn't very pleased."

"You're saying he's the one that hurt Nathan, aren't you?"

"Yeah," Lucas sighed. "He did."

"God, are you two alright? Do you need anything?"

"Yeah, we could use the rest of our stuff. Haley, we're not coming back."
"Geez Luke, is it that bad?"

Lucas could hear the disappointment in his best friend's voice. They'd planned
since high school, going to the same college, graduating together and even
moving to New York and sharing an apartment in the village.

"I'm sorry Haley, but things are a little more complicated right now and Nate
and I need some time to sort things out."

"I understand," she said, trying to mask sadness at losing her closest friend.
"You know I'll do anything for you guys. God, I haven't even asked about Nathan.
Is he okay?"

Lucas kissed Nathan's hair again before answering. "He's right here with me, a
little bruised but he'll be okay. Hold on, he wants to talk to you."

"Hey Hales, sorry to drag you into this."

"Not a problem. Just tell me what you need and I'll try to get it for you."
"Just my laptop and a few more clothes and listen, be careful. My dad might be
hanging around trying to see if we make contact with anyone."

"Don't worry. So how can I catch up with you?"
"Good question. We're still in the state at a motel. We're thinking of ditching
the car. How about we call you when that's done and we can drive back and meet
you. We'll pick a place when we call back."

Haley smiled before answering. Something about Nathan using the word we instead
of I made her feel better. He saw him and Lucas as a unit and that made her feel
a little more at ease about Lucas running off with him.

"Sounds good. What about Lucas's mom?"

"Yeah, I guess we have to deal with her sooner than later. We'll give her a
call...and Haley...thanks."

"You're welcome. Stay in touch."

"We will Hales, promise."

Nathan extracted himself from his lovers grip and headed for the bathroom,
handing him back the phone.

"We've gotta check out of here soon. I'll call you back later in the afternoon.
Thanks Haley. Take care of yourself."

When Lucas hung up, Haley couldn't help but feel a sense of loss. She closed her
eyes, holding her phone close to her heart and willed herself not to cry. Nathan
and Lucas needed her now more than ever and she was determined to hold it
together for their sakes.

Lucas knocked lightly on the bathroom door, "Need a hand in there?"

"You wish," Nathan chuckled.

"Actually dude, I'm not that kinky."

The rustling of the door handle caused the blond to freeze in panic. A million
thoughts ran through his head. At the forefront of them was Dan having the car
traced. Nathan was muttering something through the door but Lucas was already on
the move, creeping stealthily towards the door. He grabbed the bag he packed and
decided it was the only weapon he had. He was hoping he could get it over the
intruders head and beat the crap out of them, grab Nathan, the car keys and go,
even if it meant running in their underwear. He snatched open the door to find
two rather attractive men standing at the door. One was about six feet tall with
light brown hair. The other was much taller with shaggy brunette hair.

"Careful, you could hurt someone with that thing," the guy with the brown hair
quipped, pointing at Lucas' bag.

"Sorry," Lucas said, still not lowering his weapon. "What are you doing at this
door?"

"Obviously trying to get into the wrong room."

"I told you it was the one next door," the taller man grumbled. "Sorry to have
disturbed you."

Lucas was about to shrug off the intruders politely and close the door when he
heard a crash in the bathroom.

"Nathan?" He yelled, running for the bathroom door. When he got there he found
his brother sprawled out on the tiled floor. "Oh god Nathan, are you alright?"
Lucas stooped down and cradled his brother in his arms.

"Just lost my balance. Who are they?" Nathan nodded toward the door.
When Lucas looked over his shoulder, the two strangers were hovering by the
door. Both men looked like they were ready to launch an attack.

"Sam and Dean," the shorter man smiled, pointing at the taller man first, then
himself.

"You need a hand?" The one introduced as Sam asked, before stepping in to
assist.

Lucas and Sam helped Nathan up and out of the bathroom.

"He's pretty banged up. What happened to him?" Dean asked.

"A car accident," Lucas replied while his brother simultaneously answered, "A
bad fall."

"Okay," Dean said slowly, giving Sam a look.

"I've got it from here," Lucas said, anxious to get the two strangers out of
their room.

"Alright, well...if you need anything, Sam and I will be next door...um...I'm
sorry, I didn't catch your name?"

"Lucas and this is my brother Nathan."

"Brothers huh? Sam and I are brothers too."

"Well," Lucas said, rising and moving towards the door, "thanks for all your
help."

Sam nudged Dean out the door and Lucas closed it firmly and braced himself
against it in case the duo made an attempt to re-enter the room.

"What was up with them?" Nathan asked.

"Forget about them. How did you fall? Were you feeling dizzy?"

"I just lost my footing, that's all. I'm fine."

Lucas watched his brother skeptically. "We should stay here a few days until
you're better."

"We can't. He'll be looking for us. We gotta ditch the car and get outta here.

"So what do you think," Sam asked when he and his brother finally entered the
right room.

"The brunette kid is pretty banged up and they're both lying. One of them could
be it."

"I'm thinking the blond and his brother is trying to protect him."

"Nah, the blond kid is normal and the brunette one is the freak."

"Are we still talking about the brother's next door?" Sam fumed.

"Geez Sammy, first of all, I'm not blond and you are not a freak."

"That's not what you said a few hours ago," Sam pouted.

"I wasn't talking about your abilities. I was talking about your...talent," Dean
said, sprawling out on a bed and patting the space next to him.

Sam reluctantly joined him, allowing himself to be coaxed out of his foul mood.

"They could be hunters," Sam said after awhile, curling into his brother's
embrace.

"Like us?" Dean kissed his brother on the forehead and pulled him in closer.

"I don't think there are any brothers out there like us."

Sam toed off his shoes, letting them drop heavily to the floor. Dean followed
suit and then pulled his brother between his legs, running the palm of his hand
up and down the back of Sam's shirt.

"Let's keep an eye on them just in case. They lied about Lucas's injuries."

"Nathan's," Sam said sleepily.

"Hmm?"

"Nathan's injuries. The brunette's name is Nathan."

"Whatever. We'll keep and eye on them. They lied for a reason. The quicker we
can figure it out, the quicker we can determine if one of them is it.
