Despite Nathan's protests to the contrary, it was clear he was in no
condition to travel. The former jock was sound asleep again when Lucas left
the room and sat in Nathan's car to call his mom. Karen was furious when
she heard what her son and his half-brother were up to. She was even more
upset to get first wind of it from Dan. It wasn't so much the relationship,
she understood that the two couldn't just turn off their feelings but she
had hoped her son saw the impossibility of continuing in such a
relationship. More importantly, she knew Dan. When Lucas told her what he'd
done to Nathan and the way Dan treated him in Dean Durham's office she was
convinced that her son staying with Nathan would be detrimental to his
health. She told him as much during their conversation.

"He needs me and I need him," Lucas argued.

"And you're willing to throw away your future for a relationship that
should never have been."

"It worked for you," Lucas replied. He instantly regretted it the moment
the words left his mouth. "I didn't mean that mom."

"Yeah, you did. It looks like both our lives are ruined because of Scott
men."

"Nathan hasn't ruined my life, he's made it better."

"What about your health. You need medication and to be under a doctor's
care. What about your education? You're not thinking this through. Do you
think you can go around announcing to the world that you and your brother
are lovers and everyone will just accept it?"

Lucas shut his eyes tight, listening to his usually calm mother say all the
things he already knew. He didn't want to hear it. He didn't want anyone's
blessing or approval. He just wanted time with Nathan. He wanted his
brother safe. Everything else would fall into place eventually. At least
that's what he hoped. He knew they were freaks. He knew brothers weren't
supposed to be lovers but he and Nathan weren't given a choice.

"I'll call you when we settle in some place. I love you." Lucas ended the
connection and let the phone drop to his lap. He leaned back against the
headrest and tried to drown out the noise of his mom and Dan in his head. A
tap on the window brought him back to the present.

"Everything alright?" It was one of the men from earlier. The blondish one.

Lucas climbed out of the car, leaning against the door. "Sure, everything's
just great."

"Listen, as soon as my brother wakes up, we're going into town for
pizza. You guys want to join us?"

"My brother's pretty banged up, he probably should rest," Lucas answered,
shaking his head.

"Oh yeah, from the car falling on him or something," Dean grinned.

"Look...um...I need to get back inside. Thanks for the offer."

"Nathan wait."

"It's Lucas," the blond teen said annoyed, "Nathan is my brother."

"Lucas, if you and your brother are in trouble, maybe Sam and I can
help. We sort of specialize in helping people."

"What are you, traveling psychologists or something?"

"Cute," Dean smiled. "No we just...forget it. If you need anything..."

"Thanks, we're fine." Lucas hurried back inside his room.

Dan contacted a private investigator, the same one he used when he
suspected his wife of cheating and when he realized his son was having an
affair with a member of his basketball team. Dan remembered feeling like
the luckiest man in the world when the kid, Jake something or other, had
been diagnosed with leukemia and eventually died. His son moped around for
weeks but a few carefully placed words got him back on his feet and his
head in the game again. Dan had hoped the unfortunate relationship had been
a one time thing that he could chalk up to hormones and experimentation,
but his son's latest aberration led him to believe otherwise.

Dan was willing to concede that his son was gay, but that didn't mean he
couldn't have a wife and kids and the picture perfect image for the
press. If Nathan was careful, he was pretty sure he could have it all,
including some beefcake on the side. What he couldn't have was that demon
seed of a brother sharing his bed. He would find Nathan, knock some sense
into his head if he had to and put an end to this foolishness.

Dean Durham had nearly destroyed his own career until he'd set him up and
blackmailed him. Unfortunately, Deb's pregnancy ended things for him
anyway. All the planning, all the scheming had been for naught. Well at
least Durham was still in his pocket and that would be a plus when it came
to getting Nathan back in school and back on track for a spot in the NBA.

When investigator Wesley called, it was with news that Nathan's car was
missing from the school parking lot. Wesley informed Dan he paid off a few
of the local deputies to keep an eye out for the vehicle. He also informed
Dan that Haley James and Lucas Roe had been friends from high school and
grown up together. He was going to have her followed to see if she might
lead him to Lucas or his son.

Nathan was still out, so after looking through the curtains to make sure
those two nosey brothers weren't anywhere in sight, he grabbed Nathan's
keys and hopped in the car. He tapped the button next to Haley's name and
hoped she'd pick up.

"Haley, it's me."

"Are you guys okay?" His friend asked.

"I'm coming back to the school to get the rest of our things. I can be
there by three and back to Nathan by six. Did you get our stuff?"

"Yeah, it turns out my beautiful cheerleading roommate is an expert at
picking locks. Listen. Why don't I meet you halfway? How about that little
restaurant we stopped at off of Route 7?"

"That would be great. Maybe we can have a quick bite. There's a lot I need
to tell you."

"I'm just glad I'll get to see you one more time. I still don't understand
why you guys don't just report Dan to the police."

"I'll fill you in when I get there. See you soon."

"What's going on?" Sam asked, stretching his nude frame before propping
himself up with pillows."

"The blond kid just left in their car. If I didn't know any better I think
he was waiting to make sure the coast was clear before he left."

"You should have followed him," Sam yawned, scratching himself.

Dean was momentarily distracted. "You need help with that?"

"Focus Dean."

"I am," Dean said, prowling over to the bed. Sam rolled off in time and ran
for the bathroom.

"Gotta shower."

"Sammy," Dean growled, pounding his fist on the locked door.

With nothing better to do, Dean went over the research Sam had dug up for
their latest hunt. Most of the information he knew already. He'd hunted
lycanthropes before. This one was terrorizing college campuses and Sam
theorized that it was simply a matter of an unlimited food supply. Dean had
his own theories, one being that the werewolf was somehow connected to the
schools. Either way, it didn't matter. Dean had enough silver bullets to
wipe out a small army of werewolves. Thankfully his aim was such that he
could probably do it in one or two shots.

Sam came out of the bathroom fully dressed, much to his brother's
dismay. "Move your ass Sammy, we've got to eat and get back before dark."

"He's what?" Haley cried out before looking around and lowering her voice.

"He's my half-brother. I swear Haley, neither of us knew. It's just a crazy
fluke of fate that brought us together."

"But now that you know..."

"I love him," Lucas said. He could feel tears threatening to spill. "I know
it's wrong but I can't help the way I feel."

Haley reached out her hand to him. "I know. I'm not judging you but you
have to know it's not going to easy maintaining a relationship with him."

"You sound like my mom," Lucas smiled sadly.

"You told your mom?" She held his hand tighter.

"She flipped. I couldn't deal with it so I told her I'd call back when we
got settled."

"Luke, you know I love you and I'd do anything for you so if there's
anything I can do..."

"Thanks Haley. I promise I'll call when we settle in somewhere. I gotta get
back."

"Sure, I understand. Oh, I almost forgot, I asked my parents to wire me
some cash. Here, take this."

"Haley, I can't," Lucas said, shaking his head.

"If you don't take it, I'll call Dan Scott and tell him where you are?" She
glared at him playfully.

"This is blackmail," he laughed. "C'mon, let's get your things out of my
car."

Haley took Lucas's hand as they walked out of the diner and back to their
cars. He pulled his friend into his arms and held her tight. When they
finally parted, she helped him put the items she gathered in the
trunk. Neither noticed the tan ford station wagon parked across the street.

"Thanks again," Lucas said, kissing his friend on more time.

"Oh, one more thing." Haley removed a thin sterling silver chain with ring
on it from around her neck and placed it on Lucas'.

"What's this?"

"It's a good luck charm. My mom gave it to me when I left for college. Her
mother gave it to her and I figured you two could use it."

Lucas blinked back tears and pulled his childhood friend into another warm
embrace.

"Take care of yourselves," Haley said. She turned quickly, got in her car
and drove away.

"You too," Lucas whispered, toying with the silver and turquoise ring that
hung from the chain.

A knock on the door woke Nathan. The room had a dull gray glow from the
soon to be setting sun spilling through the opening in the curtains. Nathan
looked around. From the tiny alarm clock on the table, he could tell it was
going on six. Lucas was nowhere in sight. He dragged his still aching body
out of bed and peered through the peephole. It was the guys from
earlier. He sighed, grabbed his pants and pulled them up before he opened
the door. The blond came barging in talking a mile a minute. The brunette
stood outside smiling shyly and holding what looked to be a pizza box.

"Jan, Dean, Come in," Nathan said sleepily.

"It's Sam," the brunette corrected and walked in looking around. "Where's
Lucas?"

"I don't know," Nathan answered, still trying to clear the cobwebs from his
head.

"We thought you guys might like to share a pizza with us."

"Thanks," Nathan replied, keeping an eye on both men. He had a bad feeling
about them. "I think there are some sodas around here somewhere. Lucas
bought a ton of shit last night."

"Oh, you just arrived in town last night?" Dean asked none too smoothly.

"No," Nathan snapped defensively.

"How are you feeling," Sam asked, trying to change the topic.

"Better. Look, I just woke up and I'm a bit out of it."

"It's okay. Sit, eat," Sam smiled. He placed the box on the desk and Nathan
rummaged through the bags by Lucas's bed and found some bottles of water.

"I guess this is all we've got." Nathan waved the bottles in his hand.

"Good enough," Dean said, pulling a slice of pizza onto the thin paper
plates the restaurant provided and plopping himself down on Lucas's bed.

"So what are you two doing here," Nathan asked.

"Road trip," Sam said. "I'm taking some time off from college and me and my
brother are just hanging out." Sam ignored Dean's displeasure about the
taking time off line.

"We were thinking of doing the same thing until I...got hurt."

"Cool," Dean said, giving Sam the 'this guy's lying' look.

"So, who's the oldest?" Sam asked.

Nathan scratched his head. "Lucas by three months." He kicked himself
mentally for saying that.

"Either that was a pretty long labor or..."

Nathan cut Dean off. "We're half-brothers. We have different mothers."

"Our mom died," Sam blurted out and received a death glare from his
brother, "and our dad travels a lot."

"Our dad is just an asshole," Nathan muttered. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean
that."

"It's okay," Sam said, "sometimes our dad is one too." Sam didn't even
bother to look over at Dean. Loyalty to their father was still an issue
with him.

The sound of the lock turning interrupted the conversation.

"Hon...what are they doing here?"

"Lucas," Nathan said, pushing himself up off the bed, "Dean and Sam bought
us pizza."

"I got take out for you." Lucas shoved the greasy brown bag into Nathan's
hands and eyed the brother's suspiciously. "I don't mean to be rude..."

"It just happens naturally," Dean quipped.

"Dean," Sam said between gritted teeth.

"Nathan's not feeling well and he needs his rest."

"We understand," Sam said, rising and pulling his brother up by the arm.

"Well, if you're not going to eat this...," Dean motioned towards the pizza
box.

A disapproving look from Sam had him leaving the box behind.

"Goodnight," Sam said, pushing his brother out the door.

"That was rude," Nathan scolded, as he locked the door.

"I don't trust them," Lucas said flatly.

"Neither do I, but I was trying to figure out there angle."

"They're moochers."

"Moochers don't buy things, they...mooch." Nathan flashed his brother a
smile. "Anyway, where were you?"

"I met Haley and got the rest of our stuff."

"Are you crazy? Dad probably has an all points bulletin out for us."

"I'm not stupid," Lucas replied angrily. "We met away from the school."

"I'm sorry Lucas." Nathan pulled his brother closer. "It's just that if dad
could do this to me, I would hate to think what he would do to you."

"I'm sorry," He said, kissing his brother lightly on the lips.

"You're forgiven. Just promise me you won't leave without telling me
again."

Lucas promised, kissing away the worry lines from his brother's brow.

"How are you feeling?" He asked, pressing himself close to his younger
brother.

"Lucas, I'm not sure I'm up to this right now."

"I promise to be gentle," he mewled and wiggled an eyebrow.

"Everything hurts," Nathan said playfully.

"I'll kiss it and make it better." Lucas sucked his brother's bottom lip
between his own. "Show me where it hurts the most."

"Down here," Nathan replied, pulling his brother's hand down below his
waist.

"Get on the bed. I'm going to make it all better."

Mr. Wesley phoned Dan after following Lucas Roe back to the Densmore
Inn. "Yeah, it's me. The girl met up with Mr. Roe and I followed him back
to a motel about two hours away from the campus. He's driving your son's
car."

Although Mr. Wesley couldn't verify that Nathan was with Lucas, Dan was
positive that he was. Either way, he took the information, thanked the man
for his services and transferred the balance of is fee into his checking
account. Then he got in his car, mapped out the route and headed for the
motel. He had plans for his son and Lucas. 'My sons,' he corrected.

Lucas knelt between his brother's legs and pulled his jeans down
slowly. Nathan groaned but not from pleasure. He hadn't taken any pain
medication since he'd gone back to sleep and the simple act of raising his
hips sent shock waves through his battered ribs.

"Sorry," Lucas paused.

"Don't stop," Nathan ordered.

"Are you sure?"

Nathan grunted out a yes.

Lucas pushed the brunette's legs apart and Nathan let out a low growl.

"Grrr...aahh..."

"Nathan?"

"It's okay. Please...make it better."

Lucas slipped his tongue around the head of his brother's cock. Nathan
bucked uncontrollably and pain whipped through his body like volts of
electricity.

"Arrrrrgh," Nathan screamed.

"It's happening," Dean said, getting off of his brother and grabbing his
pants.

Sam was up in a flash. The growls coming from the next room were
intensifying. Both men were dressed and out the door weapons drawn. Sam
stood to the left of the door and Dean to the right. The older Winchester
nodded and Sam used his long legs to kick the door in. Both sets of
brothers stared at each other startled.

"What the fuck," Nathan growled, while his brother popped his cock out of
his mouth.

"I thought...we thought...," Dean tried to speak.

"We heard noises. We thought something was wrong."

Lucas wiped his mouth and stood pulling up his pants. As an afterthought,
he grabbed Nathan's discarded pants and threw them between his brother's
legs. Sam twisted his face trying to make sense of what was happening.

"I thought you two were brothers?" Sam asked.

Dean shot him an icy glare.

"I can explain?" Lucas stammered.

"You don't have to," Nathan said, slowly sitting up, "It's none of their
business. Who gives a fuck what they think. Pack our things; we're getting
out of here."

"No wait," Sam spoke up, "You're right. It is none of our business and we
are the last people on earth who should be judging you."

"Oh yeah," Nathan said fuming. "And why is that?"

Dean was trying to come up with a plausible explanation when Sam pulled him
by the face and slipped his tongue in his mouth. "We're brothers too," Sam
said earnestly, leaving Dean staggering. "We love each other too."

Lucas and Nathan didn't know what to make of the men that seemed to be
hounding them since they arrived. Nathan was about to tell the two to fuck
off anyway but he was in so much pain, he collapsed back on the bed.

"Nathan," Lucas screamed, rushing to his side.

"I don't think the sex thing was such a good idea," Nathan laughed weakly.

"It's okay. Let's get you back in bed."

"We gotta get out of here, they'll tell."

"No," Sam said, "no we won't. We're telling you the truth. Dean get the
first aid kit. I think we have something stronger for his pain."

Dean nodded and disappeared out the door. "Trust us; we know what it's like
to hide your feelings because everyone thinks it's wrong."

Dean returned with some meds and gave two to Lucas. Lucas looked up at the
two men and then back to Nathan.

"Get me some water," Nathan said, letting his brother know it was okay to
trust the two.

Nathan took the pills and lay back against the pillows. "So why did you two
really bust in here like that? It's a motel. Unusual noises are not that
uncommon."

"You guys seemed to be in trouble, we just wanted to help," Sam answered.

Nathan felt himself getting sleepy. "How long have you two
been...together," he yawned.

"Since Sam hit puberty," Dean laughed.

"How romantic," Sam shot back.

"Wow, you've been together long haven't you? You two sound like an old
married couple." Lucas said.

"Seriously? Yeah we have. Sam and I had a thing for each other since we
were teens. Nothing came of it until he left for college. We were apart for
four years but when we reunited...it was like we'd never been apart."

Sam was surprised at how sentimental Dean was recounting the story.

"So what's your story?" Sam asked.

Lucas looked at Nathan who was somewhere between wake and sleep. "We met in
college. We were roommates. We didn't know we were brothers until after we
started dating. Somehow our father found out and did this to Nathan," he
said, indicating his bruises. "He called me from the hospital, I busted him
out and here we are."

"So you're running from your dad?" Sam looked at his brother wearily.

"How about you? Do your parents know?" Lucas moved to sit by the head of
his brother's bed and stroked his sleeping face while he talked.

"Our mom's dead and we weren't exactly raised in a conventional home. Our
dad doesn't approve but he wouldn't do something like that to either of
us. We sort of went our separate ways because of it."

Sam looked down studying his hands while Dean talked. Both men had given up
something to be together. For Sam it was school and a normal life. For
Dean, it was a relationship with his father. Sam sat there listening to
Lucas and Dean talk and wondered if somehow destiny had played a hand again
in them meeting these brother's who were so much like them. He also knew
that no matter how much they liked them, they still weren't sure if one of
them was the thing they were hunting.
