Subject: Roswell-Alternate-Universe Part 1

This is an original Roswell fanfic written by me, I do not own any of the
characters - Jason Katims and Melinda Metz do, and let's face it they do a
better job. I do not intend any infringement on 20th Century Fox, Jason
Katims Productions, Recency Television or Warner Bros.

I am not suggesting that any of the characters, or indeed the actors who
play them, are (or should be) homosexual. This fanfic includes homosexual
and sometimes graphic sexual contact between teenage (albeit alien) guys,
and if this offends you or you are not of legal age, please go away :)...

And please, everyone watch Roswell. It's great. Mondays on The WB in
America and Wednesdays on Sky One in the UK.

Roswell gay (and lesbian) fanfic.

INSTALLMENT ONE - DESTINY

Max, Michael, Isabel and Tess stood in the Pod Chamber with the
communicators in their hands.

Liz Parker looked on in amazement as images and lights swirled around the
cave, dazzling her eyes with their beauty. The images swirled and formed a
picture... More than a picture... It was as if this beautiful woman in
front of them was actually here, in front of them. But that couldn't be
possible... Could it? The woman began to speak.

"If you are seeing me now, it means that you are alive and well. I take
this form because it will be familiar to you, and it will help you to
understand what I am about to say. You have lived before. You perished in
the conflict that enslaves our planet but your essence was duplicated,
cloned, and mixed with human genetic materials so that you might be
recreated into human beings. My son, Max, you were the beloved leader of
our people. I have sent with you your great love - your second in command -
the one you will call Michael."

Liz gasped in horror, tears flooding her eyes as she realized that Tess was
right. Max was destined to be with someone else... Just not with
Tess... She felt herself gag as she thought about the situation she was now
in, her whole world turned upside-down... Again...

Michael threw Max a serious, solemn look as he considered the consequences
of this bombshell. What would happen now? Would Max realize that he needed
to follow his destiny? Would Max realize what Michael had felt since he
broke out of his pod - that they belong together?

Max immediately turned to Liz, seeing the wounded look on her face. He
wanted to go straight over there and comfort her, tell her that they'd make
their own destiny... But something inside of him stopped him. Instead he
felt himself turn and look right into Michael's eyes, and stare. It felt so
natural, so right... But why? 'Snap out of it Maxwell. What are you
thinking?'

Max's mother continued. "My dear daughter, Isabel, and your beloved Tess. I
cannot stay for long, and there is something very important that I must
tell you. Our enemies have come to the Earth. You will know them only by
the evil within. Learn enough to use your skills, your knowledge, your
leadership to combat the enemy so that you can come back and free us. And
that I may once again hold you both in my arms. I live for that
moment. Help us. I love you."

Isabel looked to Max, tears stinging her eyes. "Our mother... She`s so
beautiful."

Tess turned to Isabel. "So... I guess I got the destiny thing a little
mixed up."

"You think?" Barked Michael from across the room. He may want this whole
thing to turn out to his advantage eventually, but knew he had to work on
Max slowly.

Isabel spoke up. "We were created. Created for a purpose, to save our
planet. Our mothers, fathers... God, who knows who is up there that needs
saving? Our destiny is a part of that, we have to follow it."

"No we don't" Max said, firmly, talking more to Liz than to anyone
else. "Whatever we have to do for our planet, we're still our own
people. No destiny can change who we love."

"It hasn't," Tess said as she walked over to Isabel and kissed her
softly. Surprisingly to everyone, even herself, Isabel kissed back. It felt
so natural so right.

Michael shot Max a questioning look. Max turned away, walking towards
Liz. "Look, everything I told you before is still true."

Liz, her eyes and her cheeks covered in tears, answered back. "Max, you do
have a destiny. You just heard it. I can't stand in the way of it."

"But you mean everything to me" Max softly said, as he leaned in and kissed
Liz.

Liz kissed back, but only momentarily. This had to be their last kiss. She
couldn't stand in the way of a whole race. Tess, yes. Michael,
definitely... But the lives of Max's entire race? She couldn't compete with
that. "Goodbye, Max." Liz turned and walked out of the cave, not turning to
look back at Max once, for fear that she might run right back into his
arms.

Max couldn't believe what he was hearing. He ran after Liz, desperation in
his voice as he said "Liz. Liz, wait..."

He was interrupted by Michael's hand on his shoulder. "You've gotta let her
go, man. She's right."

Michael didn't know exactly what he meant by that, and was sure that Max
had intentions of 'following his destiny' the way Isabel and Tess were
right now... But he had time to work on that. What was more important was
that they now had real enemies. Real alien enemies. He summed it up for all
four of the 'Royal Four' when he asked "What happens now, Max?"

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Later That Day:

"Nasedo, what the hell is this? My destiny is Michael? Is this some sick
kind of alien joke?" Max was filled with rage and anger about what went
down with Liz today, taking it all out on Nasedo and screaming down the
phone.

"No, it's no joke, Max," Nasedo answered from his - well, 'Agent Pierce's'
- cellphone. "Our planet became grossly overpopulated. The ruler - you, in
fact - decided that the only way in which we could be sure to 'cut down on
numbers' if you will, was to ban reproduction. That is, sex between a male
and female. Necessary numbers of newborns were produced through a method
similar to Earth's test-tube method. Eventually, because of our species'
urge for sex - another personality flaw we share with humans - many people
took to other 'methods' in which to, to coin a phrase, 'get off'."

"Our planet is full of homos?"

"Not everyone. But most. It's the socially-accepted thing now. Even you did
it... Or, you and Michael, should I say? You were quite the model couple,
if I remember. Completely in love..."

Max hung up. He couldn't deal with this. He turned to Michael, Isabel and
Tess and explained everything to them, too shocked to be uncomfortable
around Michael, although he couldn't seem to manage to look him in the eye
anymore.

Michael stared into Max's eyes as he spoke, watching them spark with
passion and fire. He looked at his soft pink lips moving, willing them to
kiss his. Someday. Someday Max would realize. He would hold Michael in his
arms, kissing his neck softly and lovingly. Someday he would let Michael
show him just how much he loved him. Michael had looked up to Max since
they first met. He felt an instant connection. An instant attraction. Max
didn't seem to have felt the same way, but now that he knew it was their
destiny, he had to feel it, he had to. But for now, Max needed to get over
Liz, and get used to the situation. Michael decided to stay away from Max
for a while.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

One month later - Summer Break:

Liz had gone away to Florida for the summer, to stay with some aunt or
other. Max couldn't believe that she didn't even say goodbye. She just took
off, right after... Right after he found out he was destined to be with
Michael. That had been playing on his mind, but he just couldn't stop
thinking about Liz. Everyone had been around. 'Helping'. Trying to take his
mind off of Liz. But none of them could do it. He just kept seeing, over
and over again, Liz walking away from him. He couldn't bear it. No matter
how hard he tried, that image would come back to him.

All summer long so far, Max had done one thing only - lie on his bed
listening to Counting Crows. On repeat. He was doing that right now when
that unmistakable knock came on his window. "Michael?"

"Yeah, Max, it's me. Can I come in, please?"

"Yeah of course. Where've you been, I haven't seen you in weeks... Everyone
else has been over, trying to get me to forget about Liz."

"And I bet it hasn't worked. Because you, my friend, are pathetic."

Max laughed. For the first time in a month, Max actually laughed.

Michael knew this was going the right way, so he continued. "What are you
laughing at, you big dumb pathetic loser?"

"Who are you calling a loser? You're the second in command, remember? I
order you to take that back!"

"Ooooh... Using your kingship to your advantage, huh? We'll see about that,
'Oh Powerful One'." With that, Michael picked up a pillow and whacked Max
over the head with it.

"That's it, this is war!" Max exclaimed, as he got on top of Michael and
started tickling him. They laughed as they play-wrestled like they used to
when they were on the school field as kids. But somehow it was
different. Even as they were innocently playing about on his bed, Max felt
it. He felt the urge to do something more... Something sexual... With
Michael... But it felt right. Completely natural, and perfect...

And so he did it, he leant down and kissed Michael. Michael didn't need to
think twice to respond. The feel of Max's muscular body pressing down on
his, Max's soft lips pressing against his, the feel of Max's hands stroking
his hair... It was heaven. Something Michael had dreamed about for
years. And it was really happening. Michael parted Max's lips with his
tongue, making their embrace even more passionnate and more
meaningful. They were finally together.

As they parted from their perfect kiss, each with a contented smile on
their face, Max noticed through his thoughts of passion and love for
Michael that he wasn't thinking about Liz. That he was actually over
her. That that one, single, perfect kiss with Michael had changed his
world. For the better.

"We're together now Michael, and nothing is going to change
that. Ever. It's our destiny, and you and I, we're going to make it through
whatever it is we have to go through."

"You have no idea how long I've been wanting to hear that from you,
Maxwell." Michael said. And with that, their lips met again for another
long, passionnate, kiss.

TO BE CONTINUED...

Get back to me at guerin@yours.com to let me know what you all thought of
that. I'd like to hear anyone's opinions at all, about what you think I
could improve or add or even to praise me if you want to. Personally I
think the hottest things about Roswell are Nikolas, Brody and Rath, and
they will be included in future installments, as well as some actual sex
:). Part 2 should be written and sent within a couple of weeks so let me
know what you'd like to see in it.
