	Chapter 24: Credit

Johnathan and I stood, watching in horror as the demon that was now my
mother floated towards me. I panicked and grabbed the book, running back
and grabbing Johnathan and pulling him away! As we got to the end,
something happened...the book began to rumble and a strip of land appeared
before us. I hurried across with Johnathan, who was trying to shoot the
evil witches, but he had no success. As we got across to the other side, I
stopped.

"Come on!" Johnathan said, urging me to go on.

I looked at him, then at the darkness, " Go. I'll meet you!" I said
urgently.

"What?! No! Come on!" Johnathan said.

"I'll be right behind you!" I said, turning to the darkness and raising the
book. The narrow strip of land disappeared, along with many cloaked
figures! I could feel the book draining me, but I kept my hand in the air.
As my mother got to my fast, she stopped as a dark forcefield popped up in
front of her, " What can I say." I smiled, panting.

"This shield won't hold for long." Mother growled.

"Traverse!" I said, disappearing with a poof. I felt myself falling, then I
hit the ground! Johnathan turned as we got to the gate. He ran over,
attempting to pick me up, " Through the gate." I gasped.

"Your nose is bleeding," he said, carrying me to the gate, " And we're
locked in."

I concentrated on the door, " Abre!" I shouted, causing it to open.

"What was that?" Johnathan asked, running through the gate.

"What?" I asked.

"Your eyes. I've only seen demon's eyes go black." He said as we ran into
Sam and Dean.

Sam looked at me as if he had seen a ghost.

I felt them coming, sending a shiver down my back and I turned to the door,
" CLOSE!" I said in a dark, baritone voice and the doors slammed shut so
hard they melded into each other.

"That's not gonna hold them!" Dean shouted.

"Let's go." I panted, passing out.

"He's not a kid anymore." Dean said, sitting on the counter.

"You're kidding, right? He's just eighteen..." Sam argued.

"Legal age." Johnathan said.

"Who asked you?" Sam asked angrily.

"Hey, I'm just calling 'em like I see 'em." Johnathan said, throwing his
hands up.

"He's right, Sam, this is his thing. We have our own stuff to worry about."
Dean sighed, " It's not like we're not trying to help, it's gonna have to
be more about respecting his bubble."

"Oh god, have you been watching Oprah again?" Sam asked.

"Dr. Phil." Dean confessed, " Besides, it's the truth."

"I just don't wanna watch him die." Sam said, " We've lost too many
friends."

"He sounds like more than a friend." Johnathan said.

"Once again, who asked you!" Sam said, casting a warning stare at him.

"The books. Do we know anything about 'em?" Dean asked.

"I do know that using them makes his eyes go black. Or at least this book."
Johnathan said.

"Black eyes? What, like a demon?" Dean asked.

"Yeah, that's what I said." Johnathan said.

"Didn't you try and kill him?" Sam spat.

Johnathan stood, " Look, I've been taking your shit for hours now, I'm not
taking anymore of your shi..." he said angrily.

"Guys, we don't have time for this." Dean said.

"Dean's right." I said, entering the room.

Sam rushed to me, " Are you okay?" he asked.

"I'm good. I got the book, right?" I asked. Sam nodded and I smiled weakly,
" I'm drained."

"You need something? Water, coffee..." Sam said, checking me over.

John stood by Dean, " Umm, are they..." he whispered.

"Mmm hmmm." Dean said, putting stuff into a bag.

Johnathan took note of this, but let the issue go and turned to Sam and
Chalis, " So, what's the plan?" he asked.

"Plan?" I asked.

"Yeah, what are you gonna do next?" John asked.

I shook my head, " No plan. The plan was get the book. Take it
away. Destroy it." I said, " There is no plan." I reinterated.

"So, you're just going to, what, live with the evil book?" Dean asked.

I looked at him angrily.

"As much as I can't believe it, I agree." Sam asked.

I shrugged, " Your opinions don't matter." I snapped.

Johnathan pulled his gun, " Look, I know you're a good guy, but I saw the
affect the book has, so it's big evil. Can't have that running around." he
said.

"You should have learned about pointing that gun." I growled.

"Guys, look, this isn't helping and as much as I'd like to see you (points
to Johnathan) get your ass kicked, That big evil is coming this way." Sam
said nervously.

"Look, this is my part of the big fight, so back off. All of you." I said.

"Who said?" Dean asked, " Who said that it's your part?"

"The world." I said.

"You're in a hurry to die?" Dean asked.

"No, that's your job." I said, causing a very awkard silence.

"You know what, fuck you!" Dean shouted, " Just fuck you!"

"You alright did that." I snapped.

"Stop!" Sam shouted, " Stop it, you two. We're not gonna survive if we keep
fighting like this."

"Go ahead, let 'em kill each other, makes my job easier." Johnathan said,
still pointing the gun.

"You shot me once, shame on you." I said quickly, " Shoot me twice,
shame...."

"I got it." John said.

"Tool." I said offhandedly.

"Wicked Witch." he spat.

"I just might kill you." I said, " Where's my book?"

"Your book?" Sam asked.

"MY BOOK!" I shouted, " I didn't see you risking your ass for my book!"

"I was busy trying to help Dean." Sam said, " And trying to save you."

"STOP IT! Stop trying to save me. I'm not some Damese-n in Distress. If you
haven't noticed, I could pretty much flay you and quip about it." I said
scarily.

"You don't scare me." Sam said.

"Or me." Dean added.

They both looked at Johnathan, whose gun was still pointed at me.

"You don't have to be afraid to get hurt." I said quickly, " This is my
thing! Dean, you chose to die..."

"For Sam." Dean added.

"To DIE." I said, emphasising Die, " And Sam, you chose to save the world
one demon a week...Me, I'm going for a more massive mission. Massive =
Dangerous. I got that. But I'm not sixteen anymore."

Sam and Dean looked at each other, then at me.

"I'm still taking the book." Johnathan said.

"Sleep." I said casually, causing John to fall asleep, " Don't be so
shocked."

"I am." Sam said, " Who are you?"

"Didn't you ask this question already?" I asked.

"But this time we want answers." Dean said, standing in front of the door.

"Witches don't use doors, genius." I said, sitting on the edge of the bed,
" You know the story, Mom got addicted to magic, took it to a dark place,
then Dad hid it and 'supposedly' killed my mom, but he didn't. I don't know
why they, your dad and mine, hid it. But my mom's back and it's not her.
Her soul is trapped with that 'thing'." I confessed.

"I'm sorry." Sam said apologetically.

"I left to find a way to save Dean, but I found out that...I have my own
things. At first, I dove into the arts, black, white, and everything
between...and beyond. I took pills...Low point. The coven saved me. Sounds
like a sob story, but I have to save her."

"By sacrificing yourself?" Johnathan asked.

I nodded, " If that's what it takes. My dad told me she was dead...and it
would be easier if she was, but she's being tortured. and I'm not going to
let this go on forever, this ends now." I said emotionally, " Guess you're
right...I'm emotional and literal and...It's the only thing that's saving
me." I said.

"We have to go." Johnathan said, putting his gun down.

"I have to get to safe haven. Ruby." I said.

"RUBY?" Sam asked, " YOU know Ruby?"

"No time to explain." I said.

"We can drop you off." Dean said, " Maybe even stay around."

"Or..." I turned to Johnathan, " I could give you a ride."

I nodded, " Thanks." I said. Sam's face became unreadable, " Thank you, for
always trying to be the my hero." I smiled, kissing him passionately. Then
I walked over to Dean and kissed him the same way, " Maybe when this is
over, we can have that threesome." I smiled, turning to John, " Ready?"

He nodded.

I nodded sadly, then walked to the loose floorboard and took the book, "
Give me some credit." I smiled, leaving.
