Subject: Supernatural: Outer Demons 9

After causing a ghost to set a kid on fire, I was feeling a bit foul. I
mostly searched the Hunter's Journal and everything they had on " The
Demon". There was so much and even some info on somebody called the
"Slayer". Apparently there was a Buffy out there somewhere, but not like
the one on tv and her name wasn't Buffy. It was fascinating to read about,
but I was so tired of reading words and I decided that I'd finally asked
what happened on the last hunt. Dean was watching tv and Sam was once again
on his laptop, so I asked.

" So, tell me about the last hunt." I said casually. Sam looked up from his
laptop, surprised that I had asked. Dean looked at me with an "Oops" face
and gave a weak smile.

" It's not important. We saved the guy from the hell hound." Dean said
quickly.

Sam looked at him and retold the whole story. At the end of the story, my
eyes shot open in realization. Dean might have given his life to bring his
father back! You see, the demon said that John was in hell, so Dean mulled
over the idea of going instead.

" ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND?!! How could you even think of making a switch
like that...!" I shouted, pacing impatiently.

Dean sighed, " Chalis..." he said calmly.

"...I knew I should have gone! I mean, I fucked things up by not going...I
don't know how you could even think of leaving us." I shouted louder.

" Chalis! Shut up! I wasn't going to...I needed her to think that I was
making the deal to trap her." he said, very annoyed at this point.

" But would you have done it if you'd known?" I asked, looking directly in
his eyes.

Dean looked down, " To get my dad out of hell? Yeah, I'd pretty much do
anything to get him out of hell!" he shouted at me.

" You're taking the word of a demon! I cannot believe you let her exploit
your weakness!" I said angrily.

We stared at each other until there was a newsflash and we all looked at
the tv. The anchorman looked distraught as he talked, he said, " At a local
school, there has been a terrible, unfortunate accident, as 3 students have
been murdered and police say there are no suspects and though the crimes
seem similar, there is no reason to think that they are connected. That is
a direct quote from the police, who are hard at work trying to crack this
case and solve this vicious crime."

Dean walked over and turned off the tv, " The world is going to hell." he
smirked. Sam just shook his head.

I paused, " Sounds...supernatural." I said, quietly hoping so.

" Maybe. Me and Dean'll check it out." Sam said, ignoring my plea to help.

I scoffed, " Sam, I'm helping with this one." I said seriously.

" But..." Sam started, but Dean interrupted him, " ...We did promise that
we'd let him help more and we'll be there to protect him." he said,
probably hoping I would forget about what we were talking about before the
newsflash.

I thought about that word, " Protect." and I felt a strong aversion to it,
the whole idea that you could protect someone only seemed temporary. No one
could protect someone forever, so why not just expose the person as soon as
possible. It's way beyond Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy...There are
things that go bump in the night. Maybe if everyone knew about them, maybe
we could "bump" back.

" So, where do we start?" Sam asked.

" Well, we'll need someone to get into the school." Dean said, smirking at
me.

" Wait, hey...wait, this could be fun." I said realizing that it would mean
being back in school with actual people, " I'll do it." I said quickly.

" Relax, we just need you to be there. I don't think you need to enroll,
just don't get caught. Just hang out and report if you see anything scary."
Sam said cautiously.

" Ok." I said dejectedly, " but do I at least get a hall pass?" I asked
sarcastically.

=============================================================================================================

As we sat in the Impala, I stared at the campus and all the students. I
sucked in the air around me, causing the guys to look back at me.

" Are you okay?" Sam asked.

" You can do this. Just breath and...do it. Maybe here you'll have actual
friends." Dean joked.

I smirked, " Ass." I said, pushing on Sam's seat, " Let me out!" I said,
getting out of the car. I waved to them and stalked the campus. I saw
something that thoroughly freaked me out, there were no cliques. In every
high school there were cliques and...there were none here. Definitely
supernatural. While I was happy that things seemed on the up and up, I knew
there was something unnatural going on. All those hormones under one roof,
peacefully coexisting...that's freakin weird. One person did catch my eye,
a shifty character, and he walked quickly and stared over his shoulder at
me. I walked until I tripped over something...or one and fell!

I heard the people laughing and gasping and it became apparent that this
wasn't going to be my day, " Dammit! Why am I so freakin clumsy; I couldn't
be either clumsy or powerless? Why do I have to be both?" I whispered to
myself as I tried to get up.

I felt someone's hand on my elbow, " Are you okay?" a voice asked, pulling
me up. I looked up to see a pair of green eyes staring back at me.

I smiled, " Yeah, I'm just...clumsy. Hi, I'm Chalis." I said, shaking his
hand.

" Tracey Atkins." he said, smiling. His smile warmed me inside and he was
a total hotty. He was a mix between Chad Michael-Murray and Jake Gyllenhal,
but a good mix. He gestured over a girl and two boys that stood behind him,
" This is Christina, Jack, and Micheal." he smiled even brighter.

" Hey, you must be new." he said carefully.

" Yeah." I nodded.

" So, what do you have first hour?" he asked.

" Gosh, is this inquisition?" I said impatiently, then I saw his face and I
changed my tone, " Um...I don't have one yet. I need to get one from the
office." I said sharply.

" Cool, I'll show you." he said, turning to his friends, " Go ahead, I'll
meet ya." he said and they disappeared.

" Cool." I said, walking away with him.

================================================================================================================

We got to the office quickly and I stopped right before we walked in. He
stopped in his tracks and looked at me curiously.

" What?" he asked.

" Um, nothing...I..." but I was interrupted when I heard Dean calling my
name. I turned to see him jogging to me and I looked at Tracey to see his
confused face.

" We have to get out of here. Something's about to happen." Dean said
breathlessly.

" No fair! It wasn't long enough." I said pouted.

" We don't have time. It's not one of the teachers or outside adults
killing the kids, it's one of the students." he said, not noticing the
student body come to a halt and look at us.

Tracey shifted behind us, " Damn you're smart." he said, pulling a gun out
of his jeans. Dean and I stepped back and watched him point the gun down
toward my leg. As he shot the gun, Dean tackled me and I hit the floor with
a dull "THUMP" and I looked up at Tracey.

I rolled around to see Dean staring at me, " Dean?" I said, looking down at
his knee, he'd been shot, " Dean? Oh god!" I said, sitting up.

Dean winced, " Owww." he said with as much sarcasm as he could muster.

=================================================================================================================

Dean's leg was bleeding everywhere and I scrambled to find something to
help. The other kids looked as if they were about to start sobbing anytime,
some had already began. They looked at him as if they couldn't deal with
this. The people he had grown up with...I had already guessed that he was
possessed and I felt bad that I might have to hurt him. I continued to try
to help Dean, but my supplies were limited. I ripped a piece of my shirt
off and wrapped it around Dean's leg, trying to stop the bleeding and he
coughed and smiled down at me.

" Wow." Dean said carefully.

I looked up at him, " What? Shocked it's not me? Don't worry, it would be
me if you hadn't pushed me out of the way." I said, looking away from him
and putting more pressure on the leg.

He frowned, " Uh, no. I'm talking about how you took control and look at
cha. You're fixing me up and you're calm doing it. And we both dove out of
the way, so we saved ourselves." he said quietly.

I smiled, " Thanks (I laughed) I have a confession." I said quickly.

" What?" he asked.

I smiled weakly, " I'm scared." I confessed.

" Hey, break it up!" a voice said behind us, making me jump. I looked back
to see our capture. He had a wicked smile on his face and I knew why.

" Why are you doing this? Just let the kids...the teenagers...the other
teenagers go and I'll stay." I pleaded, gaining a rebuttal from Dean, but I
hushed him.

" You'd stay? You'd go back with me to Andrew? He said you would try to
trick me." the demon said, apparently itching inside the human body.

" I'm...I'm not trying to trick you. I will go back and everything will be
okay, just let everyone go...alive." I said calmly. I shut my eyes trying
to stay in my perpetual calmness.

He took a minute, trying to read me, then he said, " Okay." Then he raised
the gun to the ceiling and shot it, " Everyone else out!" he shouted.

The scared kids ran away, screaming and crying, and he turned to me. His
eye never left me and I tried not to notice.

I bent down to Dean, " Dean. Forgive me." I said, standing. I walked over
to him and stood at the barrel of the gun, " Pathetic." I said, filled with
rage.

" Excuse me?" the demon said, surprised at my sudden rage.

" I couldn't say it in front of the other teens, but now I'm ready. For 9
years now I've been being protected from things like you and when I finally
got put in danger, I was alone. I had no idea what to do and I was
scared...but there was one thing Dean, Sam, the demons, the world, John,
and even the you didn't see...the fact that I'm smarter than I look. You
need me. If you go back without me, you're as good as dead and I know
that." I said, more confidently than I felt.

I heard Dean laugh behind me and the demon took a step back, " He didn't
give you enough credit, true, but what make you think I won't just shoot
you and leave this body?" he smirked.

" Because he'd kill you instantly, right? I've studied enough on you to
know that you can be killed any time by the one who hired you." I said,
bringing my leg up and kicking the gun out of his hand! He scrambled for
the gun, but I kicked him in the face and he slid across the floor! I ran
for the gun and felt someone tackle me and we went right through a glass
window! I laid on my back, looking up at the ceiling, then I felt someone
crawl on top of me. He tried to pin me down, but I slid through the part in
his legs and ended up behind him, then punched him as hard as I could in
the back of the head. I rushed to the gun, wrinkling my shirt over the
handle so I wouldn't leave fingerprints. I heard glass crunch and I noticed
Dean leaning against the wall. I ran to him, lowering him to the floor. I
looked at him for a minute and noticed that he was paler than before and
looked as if he could pass out any moment.

I examined his leg, " Hold on, we're gonna be okay. We just need to get you
out of here." I panicked.

He chuckled and grabbed my face, " Here I am about to die...again. Just one
thing." he smiled.

My eyes tried to avoid his, but they slowly looked at him, " What?" I asked
quickly.

" Don't exchange yourself for me." he said, kissing me. At first, I
struggled, then I gave in and we kissed passionately. When I opened my
eyes, I saw him smile, then slump over. I looked back and saw that the body
was gone and the gun along with it. I gasped and winced when I heard a door
slam not too far. I placed Dean's arm around my shoulder and I started
stumbling forward until I saw a figure come through the door and I noticed
who it was.

" Sam...Dean's losing blood! We need to get him help!" I said frantically.
sam didn't say anything, he just helped me with Dean and we ran out of the
building.
