armed service past, present, and future.  This is a fictional story it is
not intended to imply that any of the celebrities mentioned are
homosexuals. If you are not old enough to read these stories do yourself a
favor don't get caught. The same goes for those people whose countries have
these sites made illegal. And for everyone else enjoy

Walking into the Unknown


	The pain in my skull was what brought me back to the land of the
living I tried to move and when I couldn't I thought I was paralyzed or
something. 'But if I was paralyzed I shouldn't be able to move my muscles
nor should I be able to feel them either,' I thought to myself.

"Mike?" I heard the speaking very softly in an almost whisper.

I began to groan "Oh, look the brave fag is finally awake," I heard

"We were afraid we hit you too hard," He sneered

When I finally opened my eyes it was dark it took a few moments for my
vision to clear. My assessment of the situation didn't improvement much
since all I saw was total darkness with room being lit by the lights from
outside the hotel. In the darkness I was able to make out were
silhouettes. Which lead me to notice that we had new guest in the hotel
four masked men and neither one of them looked interesting.

	I finally realized why I couldn't move since I was bound to a chair
with my hand tied behind me I felt a pair of hands I lightly squeezed them,
when I heard a shallow reply I knew I was attached to Jeff I could sense
his fear in fact I could sense the fear from the guys as well. I tried to
reassure him by gently squeezing his hand again, "What do you want?" I
demanded

"We are holding this entire hotel hostage until our demands are met," The
Masked man muffled voice replied which told me they were possibly wearing
masked to hide their identities I saw him wave his hand to indicate the
rest of his party.

Doing and internal check I found that only my head was hurting other then
that I was fine.

"And if they are not met?" I asked I wanted to keep them talking so I could
devise a plan to get us out of this predicament.



	"Then starting with you guys," The voice of the gang leader
indicated, "We will kill everyone in this hotel until we are paid five
million dollars," The ringleader announced after that they all turned
around and took up station keeping. I knew the answer to our current
predicament lied with my fighting pike which was currently lying uselessly
at Nick's heels.

I had to think 'By the Mother's Hand why didn't I pack my D'k Tahg?' I
asked myself I tried to remember all of my training and once again
everything pointed towards my pike but I couldn't say anything to Nick and
take a chance that our only hope could literally be tossed out the window,
or worst used against us so all I had to do was sit patiently until an
opportunity present itself.  "Mike, what are we going to do?" Justin asked

"As soon as I know I'll tell you," I replied

"What can you do fag?" The one on my left sneered

"You'll see," I smiled knowingly I knew BEATTI would have alerted Dave and
that he'd have every probe zeroed on us, not sure how much that will help
now but it was comforting just knowing.

"All things are possible when we put our fates in the hands of the Mother,"
I replied

"Well you can wish that all you want but you're all tied up at the moment,"
He sneered

"Arrogance is the fall of mankind," I smirked

The ringleader came up to me then swung his hand backhanding me across the
face. The pain only added fuel to the fire.

"How is that for arrogance," He gloated

Spitting the sudden taste of blood out of my mouth I simply stared at
him. Letting them think that they had the upper hand which unfortunately
was currently true.

"You, are OK Mike?" Nick asked

"I will be when I get lose and teach these guys some honor," I replied

      I began testing our bounds looking for any weakness in them and I
felt Jeff's bounds again trying to find something we could use. I felt
something metallic Jeff's watch tapping his palm then sliding my finger up
to his watch I was able to unhook it and the watch fell into my hands.
When the phone rang and the assailants were all distracted while they made
their demands to the negotiator. I had turned the watch until the buckle's
flat edge was against the rope I began to use it to slowly, but surely cut
through it. Once my wrists were freed I was able break free from the rest
as the rope lost tension and fell around me. Then I sharply thrust of my
legs followed by the sound of the chair's legs breaking the snap was loud
enough that now the group of armed men were looking at me.

"How did you get free?" The leader demanded

"You should really be careful who you tie up," I replied rolling forward
and grabbing my Fighting Pike no longer bound to the wooden legs of the
chair the ropes around my ankles slacked off.

"Get him," The leader ordered the first two came at me, with a quick flick
of my wrist my Fighting Pike sprung into action, I snapped it to the right
striking the closest guy in the chin, making him do a 180 spin. Using that
spin I kick his ass forcing him into his buddy and they were both thrown
into the wall behind them take them both out. Bringing my Pike up just in
time to intercept the fist that came at me the masked bandit cursed in pain
taking advantaged of him retreating I then drove the Pike into his stomach
causing him to crouch over in double pain. Following through with the swing
I introduced his face to the one of the blunted ends of my Pike the blow
was enough to render him unconscious. The next guy to come at me was armed
with a knife, twirling my Pike then lashing out with it in one fluid motion
I swatted his wrist causing him to drop the knife. Before blade could fall
to the ground I caught its hilt and threw it at the masked gang member
coming up behind him my aim was true and the knife embedded itself into his
foot and he cried out in pain. Now down to three assailants I turned to the
ringleader "Surrender now and I will spare you further humiliation,"

"I think not fool I still have friends throughout this hotel, and you can't
beat them all," He said

He had his last two guys charge me I quickly dispatched with them and while
I wasn't looking he grabbed Jeff and held knife to his throat. When I took
out my last enemy I turned and saw that my new dilemma

"Well I can see one flaw in that plan," I smiled

 "One more move, and this pretty boy get his pretty face cut off," He
informed me

Putting all of the scenarios in my mind chances are he may cut Jeff anyway
hitting the button on my Pike causing it to retract back to stow mode I
made to look as if I was standing down. When he had loosened his grip on
Jeff thinking he had won I took the lapse in judgment and charge him anyway
going for his knife. Pushing Jeff out of harm's way the two of us began
struggling for control my main concern was to relieve my opponent of his
knife.

"You are going to die bitch!" He groaned

      "Not today scum!" I told him as we continued to struggle with each
other when I managed to get my foot and plant it into the man's
abdomen. Using it to throw him into a table with a lamp on it he struck it
breaking both the table and lamp when he didn't appear to get up I ran to
Jeff still on the floor. I wanted to make sure he was OK "Sorry about that
are you OK?" I asked "I am fine thanks," Jeff replied I nodded not paying
attention I didn't notice our friend had gotten back up. He charged us and
all three of us went out the sliding glass door and onto the balcony
slamming into the railing I made sure I took the brunt of it but physic's
wasn't done with us. All three of us Jeff, myself, and our capture went
over the side.

I also heard the screams of the guys,

"Mike!"

"Jeff!"

      I had somehow managed to get a good grip on the railing and held it
firm and with Jeff securely in my arms we dangled in midair. "I've got you
Jeff," I told him I could feel Jeff as he clung to me like a barnacle to a
ship's hull. The man who fell with us wasn't so lucky he hit the pavement
at full force. Jeff buried his face in my chest he didn't want to think
about the unfortunate guy who was now in the hands of our creator.



"Mother!" I prayed to the Earth as I held on the railing for dear life.

"Jeff, are you OK?" I asked my voice sounded very winded

"I am for the moment but I don't know how long I can hold on to you?" Jeff
confessed

"Don't worry I don't plan on dropping you?" I told him

"Mother I could really use your aid right now," I prayed I heard the sound
of a helicopter and I looked up to see one with its light pointed directly
on us then I heard scuffling in the room "OK no one move!" came an order
"Forget us our friends are over there!" I heard Nick scream more movement
"My God hold on," I looked to see a police officer looking down at us "If
you are planning to save us please make it soon," I prompted

"Men, over here!" He bellowed more police officers had arrived. They
reached over "Grab my friend first I don't know how much longer I can hold
him," I told them.  Jeff reach out with his hand four other grabbed hold
and pulled him up with his weight gone I was able to swing my free but now
very tired arm up and firmly secure myself to the railing and tried to lift
myself up and over the railing, I lost footing and slid back down a few
inches. A gust of wind blew past and when it brushed up against my ears I
thought I heard "You are the Nexus," in it

"Hang on sparky we're coming," I felt hands on my arms and I was soon
lifted over the railing and when I was back on the closest thing to solid
ground I fell to it. The officer over me asked, "Are you OK?" I held up my
hand "I just need a moment," I told him "I'll say thanks to you we the
hostages are free," Paramedics swarmed into the room began checking all of
us out I saw my friends each of them being checked out Jeff had a band aid
over his right eyebrow. "Can you move?" The paramedic asked

I tried to get up and with helping hands I was standing again "I think so,"
I replied

"Let me look at your wrist it looks like you have some rope burns," the
paramedic noted

I let her go to work Jeff came up to me and said "Mike that was
incredible," I smiled and saw his watch on the floor it got crushed in the
scuffle "I owe you a new watch," I told him

"Don't worry about it," Jeff reassured me.

The rest came over hugged and patted my shoulder "Thanks man," Nick spoke
up

"All in a day's work," I laughed we were all lead out of the hotel since it
was now a crime scene. I managed to hide my pike before anyone asked about
it I was also troubled by what I heard in the wind, I could have been
imagining it too but my heart told me no.

	Nick had to call management and let them know that they were not
stay at the hotel that was assigned to them. While they were not happy they
understood especially since they knew that they had a place to stay while
in Philadelphia.

I dropped them off at my home and told them I had to report to work they
understood and each went to a room.

I drove to the Geo Plant then used the secret passageway to get myself to
the Lair.

Dave was there hugging me as soon as I stepped off the subway car

"Mike, my God are you OK?" Dave squawked

"What do you mean?" I asked

"Don't coy with me Mike I saw the whole thing thanks to your damn probes,"
Dave snapped

"Oh that," I smiled

"We are fine except for the hanging off the side of a building but fine
nonetheless," I assured him

"Thanks God my heart nearly stopped when I saw someone plummeting to the
ground," Dave sighed

"Well I am still here to drive you insane," I smiled

"Mike doesn't anything bother you?" Dave asked

"Oh yes it does but why dwell on them when I have more work to do?" I
responded

"I am really starting worry about you Mike," Dave stated

"Why?" I asked

"Your lack of emotional responses they are usually the telltale signs of a
sociopath," Dave pointed

"I'm not a sociopath," I reassured him

"Well that good I would hate to think I was training a deranged
individual," Dave spoke

"I'm not deranged just damaged," I told him

"From what?" Dave asked

"Enough to make me wonder why be given a heart when it get destroyed at
every turn,' I told him

He took the information and while he did that I still felt the adrenalin
rush and needed to find a constructive way to use it so I said, "I need to
go on patrol,"

"After, what you have been through?" Dave asked

"Please that just another day on an aircraft carrier," I replied turning
towards the locker room

"Mike what's going on?" Dave asked

"Nothing that a good patrolling can't kill," I told him going to the
lockers and changing into my Guardian Angel costume then boarding the Sea
Dragon.

"So how are the guys?" Dave asked over the radio

"Well they were pretty shook up," I told him

"I'd believe it," Dave replied

"And what do you think about them?" Dave asked

"They are some of the most wonderful people I've ever had the pleasure to
meet," I smiled

"That is good to hear," I heard him and I could practically hear the smile
on his face.

"Nick appears to have some issues," I told him

"How can you tell did he say anything?" Dave asked

"No," I replied

"How about the rest have they come to you with anything?" Dave questioned

"Yes, Jeff came to me seeking my help," I told him

"But something tells me you knew way before Jeff had said anything," I
heard the chuckle

"Well the smell of alcohol on Nick's breath was much of a give away but the
haunted look in Nick eyes said something else," I told him

"Any idea?" Dave asked

"None at this time hopefully something will come along," I told him

"I hear you," I heard him

Looking down at the infrared and a large group of people were huddled
around a small group of people.

"Well it looks like I am about to get some action," I told Dave

"Well good luck," Dave responded severing the connection.

Setting the Sea Dragon down just long enough for me to get out, BEATTI took
back to the air the moment I disembarked.



      "Come here sweetheart" the Gang leader laughed

"Get the hell away from me!" she yelled

"I think not Babe we are in the mood for something sweet." The other member
laughed

"No please NO!" She yelled

"I do believe the lady has said no," I said as I came out of the dark

"Just who the Hell are you?" The Leader asked

"The name is Guardian Angel remember it well scum." I informed them

"Get the Asshole." The Leader ordered



      Several members of the gang came charging at me with their guns and
knives in hand. I stood in my spot holding myself still until they were
practically right on top of me. I placed my hand to my side and produced my
pike then hit the release button. It made some noise as it extended, and
when they were with in about 15 feet away. I made some quick and efficient
swings taking them all out chuckling "I didn't even break a sweat" I then
turned my attention onto the leader who was surveying what had become of
his friends I then said "OK it is just you and me now bucko, your options
are leave now or end up like your gang." He looked at me then at his people
still lying on the deck turned and made a rapid retreat.

The Girl turned to me and said "thank you sir,"



      I turned to her and said, "You are welcome. I will keep an eye on you
until you go home." I said walking towards the shadows that hid the wench
that lead to my Chopper. Once on-board the Sea Dragon I put in a call to
the police telling them to come to the park and that they had some people
who'd love to meet them.  Looking on the infrared page on my display system
I kept an eye on the girl as she made her way home. Continuing on my patrol
my infrared chirped as it picked up a fire coming from a house in the
approaching neighborhood the infrared also detected additional signatures
telling me that the house had occupants. That was the only reason I am
checking it out otherwise I would have just put a call out to the fire
department, now I am putting the callout and going to rescue whoever is
trapped inside.

       Handing control of the Sea Dragon over to BEATTI again I went to the
back opening a compartment which housed a portable Oxygen Breathing
Apparatuses. Once I've finished putting the OBA on I went back up to the
cockpit to check on time of arrival which was only minutes away. Moving to
back again I opened the right side door followed by the sudden rush of wind
as it filled the cabin equalizing the pressure I grabbed hold of the
cable. "BEATTI maintain current speed then come to a complete stop above
that house," I ordered "I will be hanging from the hoist and hopefully I'll
be thrown through the window," I explained "Standby sir we over shot the
target I will have to bring us around," BEATTI reported I felt the chopper
heave to one side then pitched back as BEATTI executed the turns she need
to bring us around for another run. "Now sir," BEATTI told me, making sure
I had a good grip I jumped out of the moving CH-53C and slid down the steel
cable line. BEATTI brought the chopper to a stop which gave me the momentum
I needed and I swung forward, and the shattering of glass and the snapping
of the wood frame I crashed through the window, and into the burning
house. Landing on my feet, and setting the timer on the OBA. I had 45
minutes to run through house and rescue the residents. The fire roared in
around me and I heard the occasional popping sound as the wood frame burned
I tried not thinking that this place could fall on top of me at any moment
so instead I focused on the task at hand. I felt a ping from the Mother
followed by wails of terrified children making me stop dead in my tracks. I
tried to make them out over the raging fire it cased an eerie light over
the whole house. All I saw was the destruction of the life for this
family. Once I was sure I ran in the direction that I hoped it would lead
me to the screams. I came up to a door and could hear the screams on the
other side.  With no time to waste I brought my right foot up and kicked
the door down.

Making for a mad dash I ran into the room finding the children huddled in a
corner "Boy it's hot in here let find some place a little cooler," I said
scooping them up one in each arm. Doing an about face I ran out of the room
and down the hall from which I came I saw the flashing red and white lights
of the Fire Engines telling me that the fire department had arrived. When
the firemen saw me at the window with children in hand then went back to
the truck, and grabbed the net without putting either child down I changed
grips, and hurled them out the window watching as they safely landed in the
net and in the arms of paramedics.

      Turning around and running back through the burning house I wanted to
make sure I wasn't leaving anyone behind. So I searched the house I took a
moment to look at my gauge on my Oxygen Breathing Apprentice noting that I
only had five minutes left. Quickening my pace I made way down the stair,
finding a teenage girl lying face down on the floor I wasn't sure if she
was unconscious or dead and I didn't care.

I ran to her and then picked her cradling her in my arms; from there I made
a mad dash for the front door. Just as the bell for my oxygen gauge went
off I went through the glass door. Rolling onto the grass lawn I was met by
firemen and paramedic handing the girl over to them. One of the firemen
asked as he helped me up, "Do you know if there are anymore?"

 Ripping the OBA's mask off my face and feeling the sudden rush cool air
hit me I replied "Not that I saw," I told him "But stand by, BEATTI scan
the house see if anyone else is still in there?" I asked after slapping my
Combadge and looking up seeing my flying beauty hovering above us "Scanning
now sir," she responded her rotor blades could still be heard over the
flames "Negative sir I am not detecting any of sources energy that would
indicate life," BEATTI stated. "OK man let her rip!" the fire chief ordered
and a moment later three fire hoses began spray the house down with water.

The fire chief then turned to me and said, "Thanks again Guardian Angel for
your timely rescue,"

"All in a days' work," I replied then signal for my chopper to pick me up
she lower a cable line I took hold of it and soon I was lifted into the sky
and back on board my chopper.

It was only when I was finally on board did I pull my mask letting the cold
air hit the rest of my face. It was then I realized I was sweating so badly
that my undershirt was sticking to me. I decided to call it a night, and
flew back to the Lair.
