A couple of miles down the road Randy turned the car into the parking lot
of an IHOP restaurant. It seemed that the place wasn't that busy this time
of day so they were going to be pretty much left alone with no one
bothering them. Randy shut the car off and unbuckled his seat belt looking
over to Cody smiling. He watched as the young man got his seat belt loose
and opened his door stepping out of the car.

He opened his and got out as well, Manu being the last one out. Cody led
the way to the place and opened the door holding it open for them. Once
inside they waited for the waitress to greet them, and Randy asked for a
table that would be kind of private so she led them back to what looked to
be the party room. She took their drink order and left closing the door
leaving them alone in the room.

Manu grabbed a booth and sat down in the middle of the seat. Cody looked to
him and shook his head knowing what he was doing. Cody slid into the booth
and immediately Randy slid in beside him. Manu had took the whole seat just
so Cody would get the chance to sit beside Randy.

The waitress came back with three coffees for them and dropped their menus
off saying that she would be back in a couple of minutes to check on them
and see if they were ready to order.

Everyone started looking over the menu and once Cody decided on the big
breakfast platter and the endless pancake promotion everyone else nodded
and agreed that they were going to get the same. Cody slid a little closer
to Randy and grinned when Randy looked over at him. He raised an eyebrow
but didn't say anything. Cody looked around and got a little daring, he
reached down and taking Randy's arm pulling it around his shoulders.

Manu snickered, "You're going to get busted."

"Nah, he can just pretend he is stretching when the waitress comes back."
Cody grinned.

Randy chuckled as they started talking about random things and what they
did on their time off away from the ring and sessions with the fans. Randy
did keep his arm right where Cody had put it, liking the embrace
himself. Once the door opened and the waitress came in he did what Cody
suggested and acted like he was stretching and even let out a yawn to make
it appear he was just tired from a long drive or something.

"Tired?" the waitress asked with a smile.

"You have no idea." he grinned.

She just grinned as she asked for their orders and made notes of
everything. "I'll be back in a little bit gentlemen."

She walked to the door and looked back one more time with a grin on her
face as she shut the door.

"I think she knows us." Cody chuckled.

"You got that feeling too?" Manu asked.

Cody nodded his head and put some cream into his coffee stirring it. He
looked over at Randy once he felt the man's arm slide back into the place
where it was before.

He took a few sips of the coffee as he listened to Randy explain that he
had an autograph session to go to later and that he was actually kind of
dreading it because he wanted to go do something else.

Cody reach over and patted his knee, "I wouldn't mind going and checking
out a movie or something. I figure there might be something I want to see,
but I don't have the car. I rode with Ted." he frowned.

"Well you're not riding with him from now on. You're riding with me." Randy
stated more as a command than anything.

"Oh, am I?"

"Yeah, you're riding with me from now on."

"Well, I'm not going to complain I don't suppose."

Randy lean over and kissed the side of Cody's head without even thinking
about what he was doing. Cody blushed a bit as he looked to Manu. "What was
that about?" Cody asked.

"I don't know," Randy chuckled, "but you can't complain. Especially after
you kissed me this morning. I just kissed your head."

Cody made a sad puppy dog face and looked up to Randy pouting.

"What?"

"All I get is a kiss on the head. I'm not five you know."

Randy chuckled and leaned in pressing his lips to Cody's briefly before
pulling back away right as the door to the room opened.

"I knew it." the girl grinned from ear to ear.

Randy and Cody had practically jumped apart as she laughed at their
reaction closing the door behind her. She walked over to the table and set
everything down on the table in front of the one that ordered it.

"Are you two like a couple?"

"No." Randy said looking up at her and missed the look on Cody's face.

"I wish." Cody said Randy and Manu both looking at him in disbelief.

He dropped his head realizing what he had just said.

"I think it's cool. Besides, me and my girlfriend write stories about you
two on the Internet." she grinned. "But Cena and Michaels are my choice of
pairing. Not that you two aren't cute together."

Cody chuckled to himself. Turned out that their waitress not only wouldn't
have a problem with it but she was a slash writer. And she also had a
girlfriend, How cool was that?

Randy still felt a little awkward but Cody pulled his arm back up onto his
shoulder and relaxed into it.

"So..so you won't say anything?" Randy asked.

"My lips are sealed. All it's going to cost you is an autograph. Besides
I've been with my girlfriend for ten years now, I know what happens when
people find out. It gets rough and I would never wish that upon anyone."

Randy smiled and nodded his head. "You'll definitely get an autograph."

She nodded her head and left to let them eat their food.

"Cody, that's not something we need in the public eye." Randy said looking
at him.

"I don't know what I was thinking. I'm sorry."

Randy pulled him closer and sighed as he hugged the man. "At least we know
she's cool with it. I just hope it doesn't get out. It could ruin both of
us."

"I don't think she'll talk. Trust me." Cody said wanting to correct the
mistake that he had made.

They started eating on their breakfast and the waitress would come and go
refilling their coffee and checking on them to make sure everything was
alright. After they were finished eating they were ready to leave and Randy
laid some cash on the table for her tip but Cody picked it up and handed it
back to him.

"I got it, breakfast is on me and I'll meet you all outside."

Randy was confused but he and Manu started walking out towards the
car. Cody walked over to the counter where the waitress was and asked to
speak to her privately.

He talked to her and asked her to keep everything hush hush with what she
saw. He didn't know if it was a good thing or not but he wrote down his
cell phone number and told her that if she would keep the little scene to
herself she and her girlfriend was free to call him and check on them
anytime she wanted to. She screamed like a little school girl and hugged
Cody tightly. He wrapped his arms around her and returned the hug. "We'll
hang out if you ever come to one of the live events, just let me know when
you're going to be there."

Out at the car Manu and Randy sat waiting on Cody to come back out.

"Randy?"

"Yeah?"

"Do me a huge favor, ask Cody out to the movies."

Randy turned and looked to Manu not sure what to say. He wanted to take
things slow and it seemed that Cody and Manu were both against him.

"Randy, I know I know. You don't have to lecture me like you do Cody, but
he looks up to you man. He admires you and he's in love with you. You might
not see it now, but you will eventually. And then you'll be kicking your
ass for not seeing it sooner. Ask him out. I'm not going to be carpooling
with him much anymore because they're taking me out of the group. He's
going to need you more than ever."

Randy thought about everything that Manu was telling him. What if he was
right, what if Cody was going to need him? He didn't want the man to get
hurt but he didn't want to risk the chance of him winding back up with Ted
and just getting treated like he was all over again.

He was still thinking when Cody came back and got into the car fastening
himself in. He looked to Randy and saw him in deep thought. "Everything
okay?"

Randy reached over and took Cody's hand in his lacing his fingers with
Cody's. "Will you be my date to the movies after while?"

Cody's mouth dropped open as he looked to Randy thinking he was in a dream
that he didn't want to wake up from. "I'd be honored."

"Then it's a date." Randy grinned as he started the car. As he pulled the
car out of the parking lot he reached his hand over offering it to Cody.

Cody saw it and laid his hand in Randy's intertwining their fingers
together again. The ride back to the hotel was a quiet one and Manu just
smiled seeing the two holding hands. Maybe this was going to work out. He
wouldn't be around much longer to see it though, and that's what bothered
him. Sure he could still hang out with them but he knew that he would be
out of the riding arrangements and everything.

Randy parked the car on the side next to where his room was and got out
waiting for the others to get out. They started their way towards the
elevator and saw Ted and Miz standing there watching them as they were
inside the building.

Randy looked to Ted not breaking his eye contact with him. Ted started
making his way over to where Randy was.

"Manu, get him up in the room and lock the door. He's got the key."

Manu took Cody's arm and led him off towards the elevator. Once the door
was closed Randy started towards Ted ready to end this once and for all.

"You got a problem asshole?"

"Yeah, and that problem is you." Ted said swinging his right hand landing a
punch right square on Randy's jaw.

He got a few more hits in as Randy tried to block them and started swinging
some punches of his own. Ted had already been knocked on his ass twice and
was going to make sure that he didn't go down a third time. Randy was
holding his own getting in some good hits but it seemed that neither had
the advantage.

Upon seeing that Ted wasn't doing so great Miz started making his way over
towards them. He slipped around not being spotted by either man. He was
right in good alignment with Randy now and he waited for the right
moment. As soon as Ted's left hand connected with Randy's temple Miz
delivered a swift kick to the man's knee taking him down to the
ground. That was all it took for Ted and he grinned as he held Randy's head
up by the chin. He delivered one good knee and that was all it took for
Randy to slowly see nothing but black.

They walked off leaving Randy laying there unconscious, blood streaming out
of his nose and down his mouth. Beth Phoenix and Melina were the first ones
to discover him but there was no one in the lobby who had witnessed
anything.

"Get help." Beth told Melina as she knelt down to keep Randy calm should he
wake up.

It wasn't long after that Melina came back with hotel security and they
started making a page for someone to get up here for first aide right
away. They didn't know what happened and would need to make sure he was
alright before they were to try to move him.

Beth could see the knots forming on Randy's jaw line and on his temple and
knew that he had been in a fight or some kind of altercation. She just
didn't know what for or who with.
