Ok, guys, All the disclaimers apply, that means all thanks goes to Marvel
for the X-Men, I'm just making the story. And I do read all the other
stories, and they're great, keep up the good work. They inspire me!

Chapter 45:	Things we lost in Space

Guard [No, No sightings of any craft. I'll keep in contact.]

I dropped from the sky, bringing up my leg, scissor kicking him, then a
right, left, then another right, then I pushed my palm into his chest,
sending him to the ground.

Pane [ Scott, I'm in.]

Scott [Ok, be careful, Rocky says that there's a bunch of soldiers.]

Pane [Don't worry, one eye, I'm on it.]

I nodded to myself and looked around, seeing no one. I walked to the wall
and put my leather-clad back to the wall and peeked around the corner. I
saw two other commando guys and shook my head. I had to get past them...but
how? I concentrated on them and telekinetically pulled away thei weapons
and lifted them into the sky, smashing them into each other and hiding them
behind machines on their opposite sides. I looked around, noticing the
security cameras and I walked further into the building, looking from one
end to the other.

Pane [Team, move in.]

"Interesting." A voice said before I felt myself slip away.

A few weeks later...

I sat with my knees against my chest, my hair tangled in a messy afro. My
stale suit smelled from weeks of being on me and not being washed. I felt
as if I had been locked away for years now. I wasn't aware how long I was
here, but I was locked in a cell aboard, what I assumed to be, a
spaceship. Twice a day, I would be brought a meal and they found no harm in
getting near me. Or near enough to be out of arms length but be in my
mind's sight. I couldn't fight, not anymore. They had built a strong enough
power negation collar. I found myself stranded.

"Hello, step brother." Vulcan said.

I didn't have to look up to tell he was smiling. It was his usual visit, to
try and sway me to his side.

"Did I break you?" he asked.

"Bite me." I growled into my knees.

"What was that?" he asked, moving closer, " Do we still have some breaking
to do? You will provide us with the help we need to conquer..."

I looked up, my eye slowly crackly with black fire, " When I get out of
here, you had better already be gone." I said, then my eyes flashed back to
normal and I put my head back between my knees.

Vulcan's smile faded and he looked at me angrily, pointing to a television
screen, " I am the future ruler of the Shi'Ar..." the television showed
cities in ruins, people laying the ground, dead, small children, dead, then
I saw it, the destruction of that planet as it imploded, " ...The fate of
your world, depends on your choice," he leaned to the glass, " They will
die."

My mind raced as I fought back tears. The children and people that had been
killed...murdered. The smooth sound of the ship sounded as we looked at
each other.

Finally, he sighed, " I guess we will just have to show you we mean
business." he said.

I chuckled, " You know...When I get free, I'm going to kick every inch of
your ass." I said quickly.

Vulcan sneered and turned to leave, " Persuade him." he said, leaving.

As one guard moved toward the cell, the other hit him in the back of the
head, and shot down the cameras. He walked over to the cell and smiled at
me, " Are you okay?" he asked.

I rolled my eyes, " I know you." I exhaled, " Who are you?"

"My name is Corsair. Major Christopher Summers." he smiled, flashing
features I had seen on Scott, Alex, and Gabriel.

"Right." I said, " I would shake your hand, but I'm really not able to."

"It's okay," he leaned down, " I think he's kind of broken you...your
speech pattern is a bit off." he said, taking the power negation collar
from my neck, " But now you're free."

I felt something, " Uh oh." I said.

"What?" he asked. As he said it, an alarm went off and the door clamped
shut. He looked at me, " How'd..."

"That's really not what I was talking about." I said, staring at the wall.

"The wall's the least of our worries." Corsair said sarcastically.

"Behind it...something's coming." I frowned, " Phalanx..."

"What...how..."

"Scott didn't tell you a lot, did he?" I asked, " Telepath. As in pyscho."

"You mean psychic?" Corsair asked.

"No." I said, moving to the door.

"It's blocked." he said, digging through his pouch for his guns.

"Hmmm, metal." I said, bringing my hand back over my head and under,
causing the door to fly away, " I hope you're ready."

"Nice power you got there." Corsair said, arming his guns.

"That's not my power." I said, walking into the corridor, " I need you to
make sure the X-Men are off this burg now."

"You know they're here?" he asked.

I turned to him, " They don't give up." I said, walking forward.

"Wait, I came to save you!" Corsair said.

"You should be more worried about your son." I growled, walking forward.

I stepped into a room, a room that looked so familiar. It was a round,
metal room...it was the Danger Room. I made my way to the center, trying to
make sense of what I was seeing. Vulcan had made this into...his own
school. This cold, metal room felt so familiar. I was used to the coldness,
but the familiarity scared me. The lights dimmed and suddenly I was
standing in front of Vulcan and surrounded by Shi'Ar soldiers.

"How did you escape?" Vulcan asked.

I growled, an actual growl, " For a few weeks, I've been locked in a
cage. Not feeling very chatty." I said indifferently.

"Sounds like a real disappointment." he said, " I had high hopes for our
partnership."

"Good, for a minute there, I thought you were going to hit on me." I said,
putting my hands at my waist, but up into the air, as if I were holding a
ball.

"I do not share the tastes of the Summers." Vulcan sneered.

"Believe me, you're making this too easy." I smirked, " The thing is, I'm
wasting your time. When the Phalanx get here, you're doomed."

"We shall resurrect our fallen then." Vulcan replied.

"Shock. I would have thought Apocalypse did that. It fits his M.O. and
kudos making the job look like his." I smirked. I felt his thoughts and
slid the doors shut, " You don't wanna leave, do you?", Vulcan sent a burst
of energy at me, " You know, I died once. It wasn't so bad, I mean, it's
the waking up that's a bitch. I mean finding out that you don't have a
place to fit. It happens to us all, you know."

Vulcan frowned, " Not all of us want to be fitted." he said.

"Must have been Hell, being left behind and re-emerging only to find out
that everyone forgot about you. It's cause destruction and move to space if
I were you." I smirked, " Oh, but you already did."

"You will not win." Vulcan sneered.

"Maybe, but I'll be damned if I lose." I said, telekinetically pushing him
back into the wall!

Vulcan got to his feet, " Go and find the X-Men." he commanded his guards.

I opened the doors.

"You hate them that much?" Vulcan smiled, " You're in my kingdom now."

"I know they're going to kick ass. It's this whole team work thing I'm
trying." I said, flicking my wrist and causing my hands to erupt in black
flames, " Thy kindom suffered by violence."

Vulcan floated into the air, so did I. He sent a burst of energy barreling
towards me and I shifted out of the way and I raised my hand, causing a
switch to flip and suddenly we were in Genosha once again. Vulcan looked
around and I felt myself land on the ground.

"What's wrong, not enough energy to fly?" Vulcan asked.

I remember that Vulcan had the power to do that. In theory, it had never
really been tested. I began to run and dodge the fire, lightning, and ice
being shot at me! I ran around a corner and stood, watching people walk
around like normal. I saw them stop and look to the sky. I heard some say,
" It's a bird." and others say, " It's a plane!" and then I saw him fly by
and I knew he was looking for me.

Professor Xavier < Pane, are you alright?>

Pane <I'm in mortal combat right now, can we talk later?>

The ship lurched forward!

Professor Xavier <We have to get off this ship, now. The Phalanx are
attacking and we are in serious danger. You should meet us in the
spaceport. We shall be waiting.>

"Right." I said, immediately slapping my hand over my
mouth. Telepathically, I felt Vulcan stop and listen, " I'm on top of the
cafe. Meet me there." I whispered. I hurried to the cafe and climbed the
stairs to the top of the building. I stood at the top, looking around for
any sign of Vulcan. I sensed something strong, his presence and I walked
forward. He burst through the building grabbing me into the air, where I
punched him!

As we flew, he whispered, " Ah, how things change." he said, referencing
our meeting before.

"Remember when we met?" I asked, trying to force us in the direction I
planned for us to go. I did, but I had to take his mind off us, " I lent a
hand out to you and you all but cut it off." I sneered. As we got back over
the cafe', I smiled at him.

"What's funny?" he asked.

I felt flames engulf my body as I put my hand on his chest, burning him. He
groaned and I took the opportunity to guide us through the building and we
crashed through every floor until we reached the very bottom of the cavern
I had inhabited! As I opened my eyes, I saw that we were both laying down
and next to us was a machine. The machine was a large and scary and a
little farther out was my mother. She glided over to me as I stood, my leg
twisted in, holding my arm. I could feel the blood trickling down my
forehead and I could see it on my arm and even more when I pulled a shard
of glass out of my knee.

"You're hurt, baby." she smiled warmly.

"Yeah. How bout that." I said, looking her over, " You know the tough thing
about all this? Facing the fact that you really aren't her."

"What do you mean?" she asked.

"So much I wanna say...I think I'll start with this." I said, grabbing her
telekinetically and choking her in the air. I quickly sent her flying and
panted. As I looked around, the cold walls shimmered back into place. The
metal shimmered back and I stood across from Vulcan.

"You're all dented up." he said.

I spit blood on the metal floor and a black flame lit under me, " I'm just
getting started."

Professor Xavier <PANE! You have to get here now!>

I looked at Vulcan, who jutted into the air and flew at me. I stood,
watching him come and I felt a power burst I hadn't felt in such a long
time, then I felt the electricity from the ship being pulled to this room
and suddenly, magnetic fields shot all over and I felt them, but they did
not harm me. Vulcan, on the other hand, was knocked unconscious. I limped
to the door and made my way to the other mutant signatures. When I got
there, they all rushed to me, but I stopped, " Get on the ship!" I
growled. I limped with them and I stopped at Rocky.

Rocky (I have to end it.)

I looked at him and followed his eyes. Through a glass window, I could see
another machine like I had seen earlier. I looked back at him, " NO! No,
no, no. You can't. There's got to be another way!" I said.

"I looked at the schematics and there isn't. The one on Earth is run by an
off-shoot of my power, this one is run directly." Rocky explained.

I looked at him, my mouth opened to say something, but I didn't. I thought
back to all the times I had done it, sacrificed myself to save them, even
when it wasn't me. He ran off and I stepped inside the ship and the door
closed, but I could still see out of the window. As I stood with the rest
of the X-Men, I watched Rocky touch the machine and look back at us. He
placed his hand on the glass window and so did I. I felt a tear roll out of
my eye. I looked away when I saw something rocketing towards us, Vulcan! As
he got closer, the team panicked, but I felt the intense heat rise inside
me. I let it all rise to the surface and a black flamed shield rose and
knocked him back through the walls of the ship! I looked on as the Rocky
closed his eyes and withdrew his hand and our ship lurched forward and we
left as a huge explosion rocked us foward!

I stood in front of the memorial for Rocky. His face was smiling on the
tomb and I smiled. He was a true hero and all he'd ever wanted to do was be
a normal person. The horrors that had already been were nothing compared to
what was going to come, I knew that. I knew it, but all I could do was
stare at his tomb. I shed a tear for him. I felt it, what it was like to
watch someone sacrifice their life while I had to stay behind. The wind
blew through my hair as my afro, that had been slicked back into a
make-shift ponytail waved a little. I had said farewell to Corsair and
thanked him and been briefed and debriefed, but I still felt isolated.

"I'm sorry about your friend." Scott said, standing behind me.

"It's okay." I said quickly, but I thought about it, " No it's not."

"You need a shoulder?" Scott asked.

I turned to him, " I'm a weapon." I said.

"No, you're a human." he said, grabbing my shoulders.

I shook my head, " I am...a WEAPON." I said slowly, " I'm not going to let
anybody else die."

"You're not a weapon and we're a team!" Scott said, " We need to look out
for each other."

"I watched him die." I blurted, " I watched him blow up."

"I was there." Scott said, " And I'm sorry. We all got used to him."

"While I was locked up by your brother and tortured." I said angrily, " I'm
mad as hell and I can't be mad at him because I felt just like he
did. Imagine waking up months...even years later and finding out that you
have no place in the world."

"You have a place." Scott said, " It's with me. And as far as not blaming
him, it's his fault!"

"I saw my mom. I choked with my powers and I loved it. I didn't get to say
anything that I needed, but the fact that I enjoyed it shows that I'm not a
hero and there is something seriously wrong with me...I shouldn't be here,
I came back wrong."

"Stop it." Scott said quietly.

"I am wrong." I said.

"STOP IT!" Scott shouted, " When you were gone, all I could think about was
you, even when the other you was here. He wasn't you and I missed
you. You. Nothing was the same."

"You moved on." I said.

"No. There's nothing after you." Scott said sadly, " I love you. All you
ever see is how something impacts you! I'm in love with you!"

I turned to walk away.

Scott grabbed me, " All I ever do is let you walk away, why do you walk
away?!"

"Because I love you too." I cried, " What if I die? Can you really handle
that again?!"

Scott kissed me, " The question is can you?" he asked.

I nodded and kissed him again. I love him. And that's all I was sure of.
