SOMEWHERE OVER
THE ATLANTIC OCEAN...


	Genetics mutation specialist; Dr. Mora Mactaggert flew over the
Atlantic Ocean [on a domestic flight] on her way from New York to Scotland,
where her laboratory facilities were based on Muir Island...! She hadn't

she first met Professor Charles Xavier [many many years BEFORE he opened
his school for gifted youngsters], back when they were young and ambitious,
wanting to change the world with their knowledge! Oh little did she know
what the future would hold...!

	Mora MacTaggert recalled seeing Professor Charles Xavier at a
Genetics Seminar in DC, as he was giving a speech on mutations and how it
may have already advanced into society! Mora was intrigued, wanting to hear
MORE about this possibility, meeting up with Xavier after the seminar
ended...!
	The 2 talked for hours, heading back to his lab where he showed her
SOME of his findings...! Xavier was impressed by Mora's quest for
knowledge, and couldn't resist reading her mind as he watched her looking
over his life's work...!

child! But sometime during her pregnancy, Mora began to get sick, feeling
tired and fatigued all the time. Eventually she became bedridden. Doctors
couldn't make heads nor tails of what was wrong with her. They later
believed she was being poisoned, that the baby inside her was actually
turning her own blood toxic! Mora began to do experiments on herself and
the fetus inside her, and discovered that the sicker and weaker she got,
the stronger the baby became! She was nearly dead when her husband came
home one day and found her unconscious on the floor! He immediately rushed
her to the hospital where they gave her an emergency C-section [caesarean],
physically taking the baby out of her to save her life! As soon as the baby
was out, she began to recover, healing miraculously!
	For several years she raised her son in Scotland with her husband
[without incident], until she started to notice the family pets dying off
of some strange unanswered disease! Further examination of the pets showed
that a rapid deterioration of their internal organs, causing them to shrink
and shrivel like an old corpse! She later discovered that her SON [Kevin]
was draining the pets of their life's essences, much as he did to her as a
baby in the womb! That's when Mora knew she HAD to learn more about genetic
mutation, and find out if there was a cure...?


	Xavier had Mora fly back to Scotland where she announced her
separation from her husband [Joe], then moved herself AND their son back to
The States to live on Xavier's Estate and help him research!
	It was during that time that he and Mora began having a brief love
affair, becoming much closer than ordinary colleagues! Shortly thereafter
Xavier learned of an extraordinary man named Erik Lensherr, a man known to
possess the power to control metal! Several government agencies were after
him, as Erik had become a one man army against those responsible for The
Holocaust! Erik's parents were killed in the Holocaust, his mother shot in
front of his very eyes by the man that ran the concentration camps they
were held in! Erik would not rest until he found every last man
responsible, and kill them all! It took quite a bit of finessing from
Xavier to finally talk Erik into joining him at the estate [if only for a
while], to help him further his research and find others like them!
	Erik only agreed to aid Charles because he knew Sebastian Shaw was
a mutant, and he hoped aiding Xavier in his research to find and locate
mutants would help him find the man responsible for his mother's murder!


	Thus Charles, Mora, and Erik began the exhausting search to find
others mutants! It was during several of Xavier's long lectured seminars
that he met 2 promising students; Hank McCoy [later known as Beast] and a
Native American named Forge! The 2 teens were deeply inquisitive about
Xavier's research in mutations, and literally BEGGED to be a part of his
research team at the mansion! Xavier later learned that his 2 newest staff
members were indeed mutants themselves! They helped Xavier and Erik build
an operating system to help them detect and locate mutants anywhere in the
world! They called it: Cerebro! A high powered device designed to amplify
Xavier's telepathy, giving him the heightened ability to telepathically
pinpoint and locate mutants across the globe!
	They used Cerebro to locate and find Ororo Monroe [Storm] in
Africa, Sean Cassidy [Banshee] in Ireland, Lorna Dane [Polaris] in San
Francisco, Warren Worthington III [Angel] in Los Angeles, Wolverine in
Canada, and Pietro and Wanda Maximoff [Quicksilver and The Scarlet Witch]
in a small town in Europe! Once Xavier had all of them gathered at his
mansion [for further study and research], he offered to help train and
teach them how to use their gifted powers responsibly, making them better
citizens for society! Hence The Xavier's School For Gifted Youngers was
established, and The X-Men Xavier's first pupils!
	Mora helped Xavier discover each mutant's power base and abilities,
doing extensive research on each and every one of them, taking blood
samples, brain waves, cell analysis, genetic coding, skin samples, stress
tests, anxiety [you name it], all to learn the limitations of their powers!
Needing a strong facility to test those powers without fear of destruction,
The X-Men built and created The Danger Room, placing it deep below ground
and fortifying it with layers of steel and other metals to insure whatever
is happening underground would not affect those above ground in the
mansion! The Danger Room was originally equipped with flame throwers,
weapons cannons, projectiles, trap doors, collapsing walls and ceilings,
and a strenuous obstacle course! It was later upgrades with 3D and Virtual
Reality technology, allowing the user to set any factious background they
desired to train in, giving them the illusion they were fighting in public!


	The first few years didn't go without its shared problems! First:
Ororo was found to be pregnant, after having a brief fling with a boy
[T'Challa] in Africa [before coming to The States]! Mora and Xavier helped
her deliver the baby in secret, AND helped her put it up for adoption [the
boy (they would later learn) would come back as the student named: Spike],
while Xavier went a step further and mentally erased the memory of Ororo's
pregnancy from the minds of everyone in the house [out of respect for
Storm's privacy]! Ororo would later take on Forge as a love interest [but
Forge's jealousies would cause her to dump him later on]! Also Magneto and
