They descended more than 100 feet before total darkness consumed them. "Pyro...!" called Magneto, as the master of the flame took the lead, using his hand as a torch to illuminate the way as they descended deeper into the belly of the beast. Coming to rest at the bottom of the staircase [about 2,580 feet down, --1 mile], they came upon an empty chamber, housing nothing but four giant 15 foot stone statues of would be believed ancient Egyptian gods... "Ain't nothin' here...!" complained Juggernaut, feeling bamboozled as he looked around the otherwise empty room... "No treasure! No mummies! No passageway! Nothin' but some dumbass statues of Egyptian gods with dog heads holding weapons...!" "Scribe...?" called Magneto, suddenly feeling duped himself... "The Chamber is NOT empty, Magneto..." said the Londoner [with an English accent], referring to the statues... "...the Anubis are The Guardians Of The Sacred Temple, --protectors of the tombs! It is believed had we entered The Chamber without the `safe passage' of The Twelve, the Anubis would defend the tomb by annihilating any trespassers...!" The Brotherhood stared up at The Guardians in awe [one protecting each corner of the four walls] with a little more respect, not knowing if ancient Egyptian history was indeed true, or just a lot of hocus myth? "There is another Symbol in the center of the floor...!" stated The Scribe, bending at the knees before reaching down to physically touch the hieroglyphic... "It's the Symbol for Telekinesis..., --Jean Grey!" "Mimic..." summoned Magneto, as the mute mutant adapted another nearby X-Man's powers by latching onto Jean's abilities, triggering another failsafe as the entire floor began to drop... "We're sinking...!" yelled Toad in a panic, feeling the room move... "No..., we're descending...!" corrected Scribe, as the Chamber automatically lowered another mile or so beneath the Sphinx before finally coming to rest. Another Symbol was discovered on a another wall at the bottom of the structure, as the Morlock Poison Ivy was called forth to show her powers over nature... The 15 yr old girl simply put her dainty hand upon the Symbol indicating her NATURE abilities, and activated her powers. A loud hum erupted throughout the dimly [artificially] lit room, created by Pyro's torched hand, as the wall sank into the ground, revealing yet another passage... "It appears there may be 12 doors leading to Apocalypse's Chamber..." surmised Scribe, following the long narrow corridor. "...it is most fortunate that you have secured all Twelve mutants in question...!" "Most fortunate, indeed..." snarled Magneto, figuring there to be 8 more doors before The Tomb was revealed... One by one each barrier was safely lifted, allowing safe passage for the intruders [with Mimic latching onto the power signatures of the `hostiles' not cooperating, using their powers to open doors] until finally they entered what was an enormous Chamber housing 12 columns... Scribe rushed into the Chamber [as excited as a puppy], touching his hands upon the columns to learn their use... "What IS this place, Scribe...?" asked Magneto, staring up at the ancient carvings in the walls. "Is THIS Apocalypse's tomb...?!" "It..." said Scribe, running from one column to another... "...appears to be some sort of Conductor...!" said the mutant librarian [with a telegraphic memory], reading the walls. "The TWELEVE are to stand upon the columns assigned to their specific energy signatures..., then activate their powers...the energy discharge will automatically flow through the walls of this Temple and surge into Apocalypse's Chamber, instantly empowering him...!" "What THEN...?" asked Magneto, concerned... Scribe looked into the mutant tyrant's eyes, completely lost... "Apocalypse is over 5000 years old..." he reminded, "...chances of this conductor working, let alone reviving the mummified remains of a 5000 year old sarcophagus, is highly remote...!" "Remote..." agreed Magneto, "...but not impossible...?" he questioned... "Well..." thought Scribe aloud, "...that would defend on how deeply you believed in Egyptian Mythology!" answered the Londoner. "We are HERE, aren't we...?" asked Magneto, "So apparently I believe IN them!" "Then might I suggest you all take your places amongst the Columns...and claim your destinies!" challenged Scribe. "Let's get one thing straight, Scribe..." said Magneto, gripping the London branch Hell Fire Club member by his elaborately ruffled 17th century costume. "...when the power of Apocalypse is generated..., --I am the mutant that will absorb it! Understand?!" "THAT is what we are here for, no...?" inquired Scribe, nervously. With The Brotherhood's help, the uncooperative members of The Twelve [i.e. Storm, Jean Grey, Spirit, the Scarlet Witch, etc] were placed upon their assigned Columns first, followed by those volunteering. As each element was put into its proper place: NATURE, EARTH, AIR, FIRE, WATER, MIND, BODY, SOUL, HEALING, MYSTIC/MAGIC, MAGNETIC and TELEKENTIC energies, The Brotherhood stood guard, making sure no one abandoned their posts before time... "Okay..." said Scribe, standing along the sidelines watching, as eager as any historian looking to prove his theories right... "...activate powers, --NOW!" he commanded. Magneto was the first to charge up, followed by his Brotherhood members Avalanche, and Mystique. The others were FORCED to cooperate once the process was started, each empowering their own unique energy signatures, disbursing raw energies into The Chamber...! ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ TOPSIDE Police continued to keep curious onlookers at bay, unsure what the `strangers' might do next? It'd been quite some time since they entered The Sphinx's new opening, and Special Armed Units were being prepped to go inside, hoping to horde off the invaders and keep certain prophecies from coming true. But before any decisions were made, thousands of onlookers began pointing towards the top of Pyramid Of Khufu [the largest and oldest of the 3 pyramids], as energy began emitting from various ports throughout the structure... "Something's happening...!" they shouted, as the Pyramid began to glow... The authorizes pushed people back further, afraid something BAD was about to happen as the ground began to tremble from the immense build up... ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ INSIDE THE PYRAMID Scribe watched as energy flowed and released around each mutant's assigned column, each symbolized column acting as a conductor, distributing the energy throughout the Pyramid, and surging down into an underground Chamber where it was being collected and stored. Beneath the circle of column, Scribe could SEE the energy surging something large buried beneath a layer of stone, as disbursed energy illuminated through the cracks in the rocks. "THERE...!" yelled the mutant librarian, pointing at the very floor beneath the Pyramid. "THERE lies the body of Apocalypse!" "Break the seal, Juggernaut..." screamed Magneto, entrusting the strongest among them with freeing the mutant god. "...only YOU have the power to keep him in check! Break the Seal, release the Sarcophagus, and awaken Apocalypse and SHOW him who his new masters are...!" "RIGHT!" agreed Juggernaut, believing THAT was what Magneto freed him from prison for [See chapter-28 THE VAULT for details]. Juggernaut [having been granted mystical energy through the touching of an ancient Gem which amplified his mutant capabilities 10 fold, making him virtually indestructible] smashed his was through the ancient stone floor, hammering the hard stones with his supersized firsts until it finally caved in under the pressure. Beneath the stone floor [as predicted by the mutant Scribe], lay the Sarcophagus of Apocalypse. However unlike other Egyptian Sarcophaguses which were made of everlasting stone, Apocalypse's Sarcophagus was made entirely from what resembled technological space tube [but what actually was an alien incubator, life preserver]. The walls of the [man sized] incubator shone brightly with energy passing through. Juggernaut punched upon the alien construct, trying to find an opening. At first it seemed his punches had no effect, but eventually the walls of the incubator began to open, revealing the body lying inside... Scribe watched from above as Apocalypse's perfectly preserved body came into view, lying in complete stasis, still wearing his Pharaoh garments and head dressing. "SMASH HIM, Juggernaut...!" insisted Magneto, hoping to take Apocalypse's place inside the incubator Chamber, absorbing his cosmic energies for himself. Juggernaut lifted his arms to smash upon the resting mutant, when Apocalypse's eyes suddenly popped opened, looking directly up at him with cruel intentions... "WHAT THE FUCK...?!??" yelled Juggernaut, caught by surprise [believing Apocalypse dead]. Bringing his fists down to pulverize the first known mutant in creation, Apocalypse quickly lifted his hand, grasping Juggernaut's wrist and easily stopped him from connecting with the first blow. "Incredible..." said Scribe, watching from above. "...even after a 5000 year old sleep, he awakens already with enough power to STOP Juggernaut's descending fist from crushing him where he lay...!" Juggernaut gasped in shock as his attack was easily stopped. Apocalypse rose from the incubator without moving [his body simply lifting as a surfboard would in its owner's hands]. Looking into Apocalypse's eyes, Juggernaut quickly realized he was in deep trouble when Apocalypse pulled him into the Chamber, then spun him around and evaporated his clothes from sight. Now naked, Juggernaut was easily forced over in a submissive [bending] position as Apocalypse pulled aside his kilt to reveal his long [impressively] HARD staff. However Apocalypse was fully charged and in control when he raised his hand to Magneto's chest, causing the mutant of magnesium to scream out loud... "AARRRHHHHH...!!" yelled Magnus, falling to the ground in a heap. "MONSTER!" yelled Mystique, jumping up from the ground, changing form in midair, becoming Sabretooth, her fangs and claws bared... Apocalypse easily evaded Mystique's first attack as she swung for his neck [hoping to rip out his throat]. Spinning around quickly, he punched her in the back, sending her to the ground like a limp doll. Unable to swallow her pride, Mystique [as Sabretooth] arose with a roar, swinging widely, hoping to make contact with one of her lunges. Apocalypse raised his hand in her direction, and a silent force of telekinetic energy sent her flying headlong into the side of the ancient wall. Mystique fell to the ground unconscious, her body metamorphosing back to her normal form in her sleep. "Alright BROTHERHOOD..." shouted Pyro, creating a giant flaming bird completely composed of fire! "...we could stay and fight for Mystique and Magneto..." he said, sending his bird beast screeching towards Apocalypse as a diversion. "...OR we could bug the fuck outta here...! Which is it...?!" "Whadda mean WHICH is it...??" asked Toad, watching as Apocalypse discarded Pyro's fire with just a wave of his hand [extinguishing it completely]'. "I say we BUG the hell outta here...!!" The Brotherhood: Toad, Pyro, Avalanche and Mimic [all closest to the exit], took off down the corridor leading back the way they came. When Blob and Vertigo tried to follow, Apocalypse sealed the exit by bringing down a stone wall before it, cutting them off. Apocalypse stood over Magneto and Mystique's unconscious bodies [his dick growing stiff under his loincloth as he decided what to do with them], then reached down and pulled Magneto's body into doggy style position. Lifting her hands overhead, The Scarlet Witch made a few mystical gestures with her fingers, then exorcised a hex to vanquish Apocalypse from the Chamber, only the spell backfired when Apocalypse caught onto her plan, and vanquished HER instead... The people began to bow and chant, believing it a god. The military forced people to move back to a safer distance, while camera crew zoomed in on `the god' like figure hovering above. Fear, shock, wonder, and grief started to affect the crowds, as worshippers began to clash with officers. If Apocalypse was aware of the ciaos happening in the streets, he made no notice of it as he raised his hands to the heavens, the glow from his body extending outward like a nova. Spectators had to shield their eyes as the energy became so intense. The light kept getting bigger and brighter, consuming everything in its path, growing enormously until everything within its range went suddenly...BLACK! to be continued...
