20 YEARS IN THE FUTURE


	"Cover...! Everybody take cover...!" yelled Cable, leaping out of

ceiling away, exposing everyone hiding in the basement of the stores above!
The EYES stopped firing, and floated up out of the large opening and
reunited with its owner, both mechanical orbs locking back into place in
the Sentinel's eye sockets as the Sentinel locked aim and prepared to fire

backlash of energy from the exploding missile to travel up the Sentinel's

	Some of the metal shards blew back into the base, threatening a lot
of innocent people...but Archlight was there to stop any residue fragments

totally eradicated the falling threats, allowing more people to escape
uninjured!


	Master Mold stumbled backwards from the hole he created, but the
death machine was far from finished as its damaged arm started to repair
itself, and it started to fire again with more missiles from its opening
chest plate...!
	"Master Mold's not done yet..." reminded Magneto, using the metals
in his costume to float himself out of the base-hole...! "...he has the
power to rejuvenate himself...! The Sentinels has revised some of their
newer models sense we sent Bishop through The Oracle...!"


"What's an Oracle...?" asked Polaris, rising up out of the hole with
Magneto [her long abstained father [see: chaps- `Proteus' & `Birth Of The
Brotherhood' for details]!


"The ORACLE is the Sentinels' mainframe computer..." explained Magneto, as
he and Polaris worked together to dismantle most of Master Mold's parts
[magnetically], disarming his weapons system and scattering much of his
parts so it would take longer for him to rebuild himself...!
	"...it CREATES these monstrosities..." continued Magneto, "...and
redesigns them for battle...! After we used The Oracle to send Bishop back
through time to kill Mountjoy...The Oracle designed Master Mold as the
ultimate machine...! No matter how many times you damage or destroy it, it
keeps repairing itself and coming back...! Its virtually indestructible!"
he added, using his powers to PUSH the rest of Master Mold's 40 foot tall
mechanical body into a dilapidated skyscraper, causing it to collapse down
ON the Sentinel [to further delay its repair while everyone evacuated the
base]...!
	Firestar and Sunfire both flew out and started melting Master
Mold's parts with heat, hitting it with combined temperatures of over one
million degrees!


"That won't help..." said Rogue, flying out after them...! "...he'll just
create parts out of existing metals around him...!" she informed!
"Besides...he's delayin' us so his FRIENDS can pick us off...!" he related,
pointing up at the squadron of Sentinel models coming after them,
descending from the skies...!

Sentinel designs since Bishop's teleportation...! And who KNOWS what
changes it might have made to the teleport...? If we try to send someone
else through...there's likely that their atoms could be spread throughout

"We HAVE to try..." said Beast, "...The Oracle will simply keep building
bigger better robots unless WE can go back in time and stop it before it
starts...! That's the only way to ensure THIS TIMELINE won't happen...!"

produced Sentinels off the assembly line...!


((("Polaris, Magneto...PLUG THAT WHOLE...!"))) ordered Professor Xavier
[telepathically], as the father/daughter duel flew over to the chamber and
started magnetically disassembling the Sentinels as soon as they exited,
sending metal parts everywhere...!


"Fire in the hole...!" yelled Rogue, flying overhead with Magma in her
arms, dropping the mutant woman directly over the entrance as Magma
transformed from human form into living lava...using her intense heat to
instantly melt the entrance as she descended into it, effectively
destroying the Sentinel exit and all the robots within the shaft...!
	Other mutants began defending themselves against The Sentinels that
managed to escape the exit beforehand...! But Cable knew they couldn't
spent precious time fighting tireless robots...they needed to get INSIDE
where The Oracle was...!
	Using Master Mold, he aimed all weapons at the side of the building
and fired, nearly leveling a quarter of the factory and creating a huge
entrance for The X-Men!


((("XSE stay behind and guard the entrance..."))) ordered Cable, leaving
Master Mold to help aid in the fight...! ((("...X-Men and all essentials
returning to the past, follow me...!"))) he insisted, as a small group
broke away from the fight and headed inside, blasting their ways through
walls and doors, descending levels until they finally came across The
Oracle Chamber: a super computer designed with artificial intelligence, the
mastermind behind the decision to exterminate all human life on the planet

	The Oracle [however] wasn't without resources of its own, having
designed smaller human sized Sentinels to protect it from within! The X-Men
were faced with an army of metal humanoids with glowing red eyes, all
designed to protect The Oracle at all costs!


"EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE...!!!" screamed Banshee, setting off a
sonic scream that popped the metal circuitry inside the heads of several of
The Sentinels, rendering them unless...!
	Cyclops followed up by releasing a bright red optic-beam which tore
through The Sentinel he was aiming at! The rest of The X-Men went into
fighting mode defending themselves as The Sentinels descended on them!
Ciaos broke loose as the chamber became a battle zone!
	Cable knew it was just a tactic of The Oracle, who was trying to
recalibrate its systems to keep them from using it as a transporter...! He
fought his way over to the computer [blasting any Sentinels that got in his
way] and interlocked himself into the mainframe...!


((("Cover me!"))) he insisted, knowing he would be vulnerable to attack
while uploading the system! Domino and The X-Men did what they could to
fend off the attackers [while Cable and the computer fought in cyberspace
for control over the system], but The Sentinels were just too many, all
with arsenals some of The X-Men couldn't compete with...!
	Just when it seemed things might be bleak...in charged The
Juggernaut, mowing down robots like a garden tool, followed by the mutant
Sway: who had the unique power to slow time down drastically...! He focused
his powers on The Sentinels, stopping motion [temporarily] while Cable
finished up with the program...!


"DONE!" he said, yanking from the mainframe! "The Portal's open...we only
have a few minutes before The Oracle's back online and shutting down the
system...! We have to move NOW...!"


"But what about the others...?" asked Polaris, looking back at Iceman and
wondering about the possibilities...?


"They're already waiting or us in the past...!" argued Xavier...!
"Hurry...before the portal closes and we're stuck here forever...!"
	The X-Men started darting through the portal, leaving The XSE
behind to clean up the mess and continue the fight without them!


"Hurry Shard...!" yelled Bishop, following Storm through as The X-Men
disappeared!
	Shard was the last one to jump through, catching a glimpse of Sway
losing his hold over The Sentinels as they went back into fighting mode and
started besting all those left behind...!

	The X-Men jump out of thin air and into a heavily populated area in
Washington DC...just outside the State Capital!

Bishop, Shard, Cable, and Domino all appeared out of nowhere at once...!

	"WHERE the hell are we...??" he asked, as he and Cable looked
around frightened, having never seen so many people and moving vehicles in

"Washington..." said Beast, staring down at his wristwatch...! "...and from
my calculations..., about NINE MONTHS after our abduction into space by The
Shi'ar...!"


"NINE MONTHS...?!" asked Colossus, having hoped they'd be closer to the
actual time they left [so he could check IN on his kid brother whom he left
back at the mansion]...!


"It's better'n 20 years...!" said Wolverine, taking what he could get!


"Why WHERE, Why NOW...?" asked Xavier, looking at Cable...!


"Because today's the day it all started..." said the ex-XSE member...!
"...today's the day Senator Robert Kelly gets assassinated...! We HAVE to
stop it or nothing about our future will change...!" he insisted, as police
sirens started to rise in the background...!

SOMETIME LATER...


	Congress begins session, with senators arguing and voting over a
bill called The MRA [Mutant Registry Act], which enables government to
regulate mutants they deem criminal and/or having dangerous potential,
incarcerating them for control and study! While some opposed such measures
[believing it a direct violation of freedom in The Constitution], most
feared the unknown, having seen what mutants can do through the action from
the likes of Magneto and his Brotherhood Of Mutants AND various other super
powered beings...!
	Senator Kelly was one opposing the Act: which sprung up shortly
after New York City had become infested with what was believed to be a
terrorist virus that made New Yorkers go into sexual frenzies in the
street, causing massive orgies everywhere! It was later learned that the
spectacle was created by mutants, shutting down the nation and causing
pandemonium [see: chap-42, `Dark Phoenix']! Whole families [god fearing
Christians] had succumb to unimaginable lusts as mothers and fathers fucked
their own children, leaving a swollen aftermath of venereal diseases and
unplanned pregnancies statewide! Someone had to put an end to such madness,
thus The Mutant Registry Act was formed, insuring nothing like that [or
worse] would never happen again...!


	While Congress voted on the bill inside, outside was a mass of
supporters and opposers, all fighting over the decision to put the bill
into law! The media captured it all, as police arrested the unruly and
tried to keep order between opposing sides!
	Inside Senator Kelly refused to sign his name to the bill, saying
that "good and evil reside in ALL humans", and that "signing a bill to
regulate ONE specific group of humans is unconstitutional!" His remarks
were greeted with jeers, as he was suddenly attacked out of nowhere...!


"Mutant liberation NOW...!" yelled a mutant named: Gambit, throwing aside a
cloth cape and leaping through the air to brand Kelly with a deadly blow
from his staff...!
	However he was quickly repelled with just a wave of Kelly's hand,
sending Gambit souring backwards into a wall several feet away, knocking
the boy silly! Everyone stood in their seats, all wanting a better view of
what just happened as a body began to emerge from Senator Kelly's...!


"Sorry about that, Senator..." said Mountjoy, rising up out of Kelly's body
along with Cable [who ran in-search of Gambit], "...it was the ONLY WAY we
could insure your safety AND flesh out the assassin...!" explained Xavier
[able to merger bodies using Mountjoy's mutant abilities]...!
	Kelly nearly fell out of his seat, completely overwhelmed by what
just took place inside him...!

	Cable rushed over to where Gambit now lay on the floor,
recovering...!


"Hold it right there..." yelled Cable, holding a weapon on the
x-student...! "...you're not going anywhere...!"
	Gambit looked up at Cable and his weapon, trying to calculate his
next move..., when suddenly there was rapid gunfire...causing everyone in
the congressional stands to run and duck for cover...!


"Quickly Mystique...get out of there...!" yelled Shard, giving Mystique
cover as she instantly transformed from The X-Man Gambit into her normal

"Mystique..." said Cable, finally realizing WHO the real culprit was behind
the assassination! But while he was busy having his epiphany, Mystique took
full advantage of his surprise and physically leaped overhead in a single
bound...! When Cable lifted his gun to shoot her, he was met with an array
of gunfire from Shard, giving Mystique the chance to escape...!
	Mystique landed on her feet, looking back and wondering WHO the
stranger was aiding her...?


"Don't worry about me..." yelled Shard, motioning for her to keep going...!
"...I'll take care of Kelly...!" she added, before aiming the gun at The
Senator...!


"NO...!" yelled Domino, jumping in front of Kelly just as Shard started
shooting, shielding his body with his own and taking the full brunt of the
damage...!


"DOMINIC...!!" yelled Cable, seeing the blood splatter about his lover as
he fell limply atop Shard's target...!


"What the fuck'r you doing...??!" yelled Bishop, kicking the gun out of his
sister's hand before grabbing her and trying to shake some SENSE into
her...!
	Shard merely kneed Bishop in the groin [causing his knees to
buckle] and flipped him aside as she pulled another gun from her
hoister...! She was just about to spray the room with bullets, when she
suddenly felt electrical currents running through her body...! Storm held
both hands in her direction, sending thousands of currents shooting through
her at once, firing her where she stood!


"Storm, don't..." yelled Bishop from the floor [still holding his nuts]...!
"...she's...still my sister..." he pleaded, not wanting to see her dead...!
	Storm turned off the electrical works afterwards, causing a smoking
Shard to change physical forms from a black teenage girl...into a grown

"Mystique...!" said Bishop, realizing it wasn't his sister after all...!
	Mystique withered about in pain from her charred body...! Laughing
at the idea that she still somehow managed to fuck up The X-Men's plans...!


"Mu...mutant...liberation...now..." she whispered, having intended to kill
Kelly to start the war on mutants, all in some perverse attempt to gain
mutant liberation!


"But WHY, Raven...?" asked Xavier, unable to understand why someone would
go through such lengths of cause worldwide destruction...? "You SAW what
killing Kelly did to the world you lived in...WHY would you want a world
like that...?" he asked, needing closure...!
	Mystique rose up on her elbows as she started into The X-Man's
faces [her body already starting to heal on a molecular level]...!


"Because..." she said, with all the fiber of her being... "...we were
almost superior..., all we needed to do was rid us of The Oracle...and the
last of the humans would have been easy to eliminate...!"
	Xavier watched in horror as Mystique's brains were suddenly
splattered all over him...! She fell back against the ground in a puddle of
blood...having just been shot through the head by Cable...!
	FBI, CIA, and other government sources converged on the scene,
taking The X-Men into custody and trying to sort out the whole sorted
story...!

WEEKS LATER...


	The X-Men were questioned extensively by SHIELD and other
government forces, after having been informed how The MRA would affect the
entire world in a negative way...! With Senator Kelly's testimony of how
The X-Men came to his office prior to the attack to WARN him of his
assassination, The X-Men were freed of any wrong doing and allowed to
go...!
	The reunion at The Xavier Institute was long overdue, with plenty
of hugs and kisses from those thought long gone! Each side was informed on
what they missed; from The X-Men's abduction into space and Havok's
decision to stay with his father in The StarJammers, to the Morlock
Massacre, the kidnapping of The Scarlet Witch's Twins, the departures of
Moria MacTaggert Calisto, AND Weapon-X, and the fall of Asteroid-M...!
	Colossus was reunited with his brother Stefan [Magik], and Banshee
was reunited with his young [17 y/o] daughter Syran [so happy to see her
still a teenager and unmarried]! Bishop mourned the death of his sister
Shard, having left her behind [again] in the past, and Cable stayed by his
boyfriend's [Domino's] side while he recovered from his wounds in a DC
hospital...!
	All in all, just another day around the mansion...!
