A Journey Unexpected: Chapter 1

-SAMUEL-

A new day, a new beginning. Those were the words that popped into Samuel's
mind when he woke up from his deep slumber. It's the same routine every
day; waking up to a blaring alarm clock, the battle of getting out of bed,
washing up, fixing his hair and picking out what to wear. He settles with a
pair of salmon shorts, a white pocket tee and his black vans. He looks in
the mirror and see's this confident looking young man staring back at
him. But that is not the case; Samuel is the shy, quiet and serious
type. He doesn't come off as being a nerd as he liked to keep fit and
participates in sport, but he is just really quiet and often kept to
himself. Sam plays tennis and volleyball and has been for as long as he
could remember. He just loves the thrill and adrenaline that gets pumped
into his body system as he runs around the court and tries to save every
point he could. But that aside, he often tries to just blend in with the
background trying not to catch any attention on him. As Samuel breaths in
the fresh spring air, he sighs; it's my first day of University. Samuel
finished high school 3 months ago and has been on vacation since. With
backpack in tow he left the comfort of his room and made his way to
University. Trains in the morning are often packed which meant he either
has to catch an earlier train or risk being shoved around by the dispersing
crowds trying to board and alight the crammed train. Samuel finally arrives
at the station he is meant to get off and started the 5 minute walk to the
University Campus. "Good thing I went to the Open Day and signed up for the
tour on campus" Samuel thought to himself as whist he was walking down the
busy street he noticed all the confused new students who were obviously
lost trying to find or ask directions on how to get to campus. Sam arrives
in student administration and patiently waited in the queue to get his
timetables and program for the day.

-TRAVIS-

"SHIT SHIT SHIT I am going to be late for my first day of University!"
Travis swore. He had a late night out with his mates even though he knew he
had to be up and early the next day. He got up, brushed his teeth, wet his
hair hoping it would fix his bed hair and actually makes him look
presentable. He picked a plain black shirt from his wardrobe, red shorts
and slipped on his red vans. He didn't even have time to eat breakfast,
yelled "BYE!" to his mum and was out the door in a flash. Travis started
running because he knew the bus would be pulling in at the stop in a matter
of minutes and just his luck, he managed to get there on time before the
last passenger got on the bus. He was puffed out and was trying hard to
catch his breath. It isn't that Travis is not fit, he actually goes to the
gym 3 times a week to keep his fitness up, but this morning was just one of
those days. He had a little hangover from drinking too much than he
anticipated and he definitely started to feel the throbbing of his head and
slight nausea when he took his seat. It was a 15 minute bus ride from
Travis' stop to the University Campus but he still had to walk a good 10
minutes to get to student admin. He checked his phone for the time. "CRAP!
I'm seriously going be late! I got to double my pace". Travis picked up his
pace and started to run once again. "Ok straight up here, turn left at the
end of the road and it should be the yellow building with the school crest
in it. Ah there it is!! I still have 5 more minutes until my first class
starts! Ok I'm here! I'll just open the door and..." before he even knows
it, Travis fell on top of someone. His face literally just centimeters away
from the other person. The other person was starting to say something but
Travis couldn't make it out. When the other person opened their eyes to get
a look at the person responsible for this debacle, they just laid there
stunned. Travis shook his head and opened his eyes and to his surprise, a
set of brilliant brown-crimson eyes were piercing his gaze. Still in shock
of what just happened he just laid there, trying to process what just
happened in his mind.

-SAMUEL-

"Great! All my classes are in the morning! I don't have to stay late in the
City" Samuel thought to himself. He said his thanks to the lady at the
receptionist and was about to exit through the door when he found himself
fall to the ground under this guy he's never met or even seen before. "What
stupid retard doesn't look before..." Sam said aloud whilst trying to
recover from the fall but he was stopped mid-sentence when he opens his
eyes and saw a pair of shimmering cerulean blue eyes staring right into
him. Sam was dumbstruck. He didn't know what to say or what to do he just
laid there. No words would come out of his mouth; he couldn't move anywhere
because this other person got him pinned down on the floor. Their gaze held
onto each other for what felt like hours but was broken when the
receptionist came running to the door concerned something serious has just
happened. "Are you boys ok?" She asked. I broke our gaze and started to
get up. "Uh sorry mate, I really should've looked before I opened that
door." Sam started as Travis was getting up. "Nah bro it's my fault for
being in such a rush. I'm running late and I got to admit a little hungover
haha." Travis chuckles and for the first time he hears Sam giggle
quietly. "Oh thank god nothing bad happened" the receptionist said. "Or
this would've been a terrible first day for you" she said to Sam. "Ok now
that it's been clarified that both of you are ok, would you boys mind if I
go back to the desk? The queue is starting to get long and I'd hate for
anyone to be late on their first day." Sam nodded and smiled at her. Sam
was still sitting on the floor and Travis notices this. Travis puts out his
hand and smiles at Sam "Let me help you up" Travis said. Sam timidly took
Travis' hand. "Wow what a strong grip this guy has" Sam thought to
himself. "Thank you" Sam said. "It's the least I could do, I did kind of
bulldozed you to the ground" Travis replied. Sam just smiled and giggled
quietly once again. "Damn this boy is so damn cute" Travis thought to
himself. "Anyways, I gotta go. My class starts in 5 minutes" Sam said. "Ok
bro, I'll see you around yea?! Sorry again" Travis replied. As soon as Sam
got out of the door, he took a deep breath in. "Well that was unexpected"
he thought to himself.
