David and Jeff: Chapter 1 Hi my name is David. I am 18 year old IT student attending Arizona State University. While attending ASU I was working at a local coffee shop near campus. At this coffee shop I meet my first true love. On the day that I met Jeff I was working the register. It wasn't a very busy day and all of us at the coffee shop were just kind of fooling around waiting for the evening rush to begin. The bells on the door rang as this man entered. My eyes instantly shot to his eyes. He was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen in my life. He stood at 5' 10" with blue eyes and blonder hair just barly touching his shoulders. He walked over the counter and stopped just short to look up at the menu. While he was looking at the menu it gave me a chance to fully exam how good he actually looked. He was wearing these blue board shirts with this white shirt showing off his tight stomach and pecks. He stepped up the counter and I asked "May I take your order?" "Yeah, Can I get a black iced tea?" he said to me. Hearing his voice made my heart skip a beat. "I am David. So, Do you go to ASU?" I asked him. "Hi David, I'm Jeff. No, I just moved here from Cali and I am looking for a place to stay around here." he told me. I then saw my chance to get to know him a little better. "That's cool. I am a student at ASU. I know a lot of the apartment complexes around here. I get off in an hour or so. If you want to wait around after I get off I can show you around." I said to him hoping he would take me up on my offer. "That would be great" he said. Time seem to stop as the I watched the clock waiting to get off work. Every once and while when Jeff thought I wasn't looking I saw him from the corner of my eye him checking me out. My boss finally told me I could go home. I practically skipped in excitement to the back room to change to go show Jeff around Tempe some. I came out of the back room and walked over to Jeff sitting in one of the chairs reading the free newspapers. "Well I am off work finally. Do you wanna take my car or yours?" I asked him. He said back to me "lets take your car." I showed him out to my 1996 Nissan Pickup that I have been driving. I had to clean out some of the junk on the passenger side of the truck so he could enter. I felt embarrassed that my truck was such a mess. As I was cleaning out the front of my truck I was thinking of what apartments to show him. I finally get the truck clean and we both get in and start driving. I figured I would take him to my apartment complex first since I knew they were offering move in specials. Along the way we started talking."How old are you?" I asked him. "I am 19 and you?" he said. "I am 18, I just started my freshman year at ASU." I said to him. "Ah, Cool. What are you majoring in?" he asked me. "I am planning on majoring in Computer Information Systems" I gladly told him. "Cool, do you like ASU?" he asked me. "Yeah, I love ASU. I am kind of regretting not staying in the dorms but I figured it was best that I didn't live in the dorms." I told him. "Why?" he asked me. "I am not a normal college student" I told him. "How are you not a normal college student?" he asked. At first I was a little reluctant to say anything. I am not really totally out of the closest yet. Yes most of my friends and co-works know that I am gay but my parents don't. "I'm gay" I said to him in a soft voice. I tried to study his movements from the corner of my eye as I was driving to my apartment complex. I didn't notice a sudden change in how he acting. So I figured he was cool with me being gay. "Cool, me too" he told me. As soon as those words came out of his mouth I almost had a heart attack. "Where are you taking me?" he asked. "I figured I would take you back to my apartment complex since I know they are having some move in specials and this way you can see what the apartments look like." I told him. "Cool, How long till we get there?" he asked. "Only a couple of minutes." I told him. We kept on driving to my apartment complex we kept talking the whole way there. When we finally arrived I showed him around the grounds a bit. I took him to the pool and the gym. We continued to talk during the whole tour I was giving him. "So, Would you like to see my place now?" I asked him trying not to sound nervous. "I would love to" he told me. I walked him from the apartment managers office all the way back to my apartment it was about a five minutes walk there. We got to my building and I led him up the stairs to my apartment. "So here it is" I told him as I stuck the key into the doorknob.
